This is Volume 1 in the series.
Ogami-san has always been different but she doesn't want her high school peers to know about her weird thoughts. Yaginuma-kun has always been a mystery to everyone but one day when Ogami-san takes his hand by mistake, she spills exactly what she was thinking and he doesn't judge her!
This was a weird read but it was nice to see Ogami-san having a group of friends, who are all misunderstood and different.
Ogami-san is a quiet girl who doesn't talk much and doesn't have many friends.
But that doesn't mean she's innocent or pure, actually Meiko has some pretty dirty thoughts on her mind which she had learned to keep for herself.
When she tries to approach Yaginuma — the lone and handsome young boy in her class — she discovers that there's only one way for her to keep her naughty thoughts for herself: Ogami-san can't ever touch Yaginuma otherwise she will reveal instantly what she's really thinking. Embarrassing, right?
As the friendship progresses they'll learn together how to be more open not only to each other but also to others and make some new friends along the way.
"Ogami-san Can't Keep It In" is a laugh-out-loud but heartwarming manga that shows a teenage girl going through the crazy phases of adolescence: the doubts, insecurities, curiosities and so much more.
It was a really fun and sweet read and I'm really looking for the next volume. I loved it!
Thank you to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for a copy of this in exchange for review!
This first volume was hilariously good and characters are unusual which makes the story more interesting. The artstyle is cute as well. I'm curious to see where Ogami-san and Yaginuma-kun's relationship goes!
Thanks to Kodansha and Netgalley for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This manga had me laughing through out the story. I loved the main characters and found it to be an easy read.
Ogami-san has a reputation as the school's biggest horn dog. Friendless and lonely, she befriends the other schools loner, Yaginuma-kun. He's super cute, super quiet and shy's away from human contact. Turns out, when anyone touches him their innermost thoughts come pouring out!
I loved this gathering of loners, as their friend group grew so did my love for each of the characters. Ogami-san can be a bit much at time, but that's kind of her whole deal so I learned to roll with it. I'll absolutely be adding more of these books to my TBR!

Ogami has tried to change since junior high, largely by being quiet and reading. In truth, she’s got a lot of questions about sex and more than a few dirty thoughts. But when she starts to give voice (unwillingly) to her preoccupations, maybe things won’t be so bad after all…
The literal title of this series is bang on clever because it is vaguely dirty, but not really when you know what’s actually happening, much like the series itself. It’s definitely raunchy, but it threads a needle that makes it a convincing look at teenage ridiculousness.
I read another review that mentioned O Maidens in Your Savage Season and this does feel rather like the comedic version of that notion, as this is also concerned with a young girl’s sexual awakening but without anywhere near the dramatic gravitas.
No, this is a shockingly clever and humourous look at one girl and the people she comes into contact with, in one specific instance quite literally. It is not fall down in hysterics funny, but it had me grinning most of the time with its goofy premise and a great cast.
Ogami is very, very ashamed of her interest in sex because it seems like everyone else really has it together. As is typically the case, it only seems like that and nobody has much of anything figured out at that age. Especially feelings.
The story really takes a turn when Ogami meets the equally quiet and arguably more withdrawn Yaginuma, who turns out to be a very unusual boy. His secret is a little out there, but it makes the story something special and the way it’s secretly forecasted in plain sight with a panty gag is spot on.
Their interactions lead to some of the best jokes, as people really lose their filter around Yaginuma, which has lead to him being hopelessly deadpan and a little odd, although not emotionless, which is a big distinction. He also just doesn’t get boundaries, but it’s not the same way that Ogami does. He just doesn’t know how to set them.
One of the things that makes this story work is that it knows to not just settle for the obvious joke, but to keep paying things off and escalating. Matsukuma, the other big character this volume, looks like your typical thug, but turns out to be big on his crafting, for example.
Which is fine, if a bit predictable. But once he and Yaginuma have essentially formed their own crafting club and are hanging out while trading tips and getting very excited over 5% off at the craft store? That’s just perfect.
The dramatic bits are no slouch either - I did like the way that Ogami’s past trauma turns into a whole thing just because it’s handled well, has a satisfying payoff about the joy of being yourself, and embodies one of those situations where bigging yourself up can have unexpected consequences.
Between that and her burgeoning friendships and her pending relationship with Yaginuma, which neither of them are quite ready to acknowledge yet, it’s a nice blend of comedy and serious that gets better as you read more of it. It’s a decent start that settles into a great rhythm.
I’ll also praise the mangaka for being smart enough to realize that having Ogami be the thirsty one was way, way better than having Yuginuma as a shy boy and Ogami the lone wolf who gets on his case, which was the starting block for the series. Those stories are a dime a dozen, I know because I’ve read most of them, but this feels special and original.
4 stars - like I said, this is a really good start and it gets more and more assured as it goes. I suspect this is one of those stories that could easily earn 5 stars out of me if it continues to build on what it establishes here.

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.
I found this manga to be so wild and funny. I honestly really liked it. I was a bit concerned at the beginning with homegirl having all these thoughts but it doesn't drag the story down and her new friend really helps in that. I love what he has and I hope we get to see more of it, though I wish he'd open up a bit more. We shall see in the other volumes!
Everyone thinks about sex, but admitting such a fact would result in many a concerned stare. While men tend to get away with dirty talk more often, it’s a fact that women can be just as shameless when speaking of promiscuous things. (Look at any Ali Wong comedy special for proof!) Nevertheless, women still feel like they have an image to protect, which is what the titular character in Ogami-san Can’t Keep It In is going through.
Ogami keeps to herself at high school, after her junior high years found herself wrought with embarrassment. She loves finding out all about human anatomy, and not in a scientific way. Basically, she always has dicks on the brain, which is why she steers clear of any situation that might make her let her hair down. But that’s when fellow loner Yaginuma comes into the picture.
Like Ogami, Yaginuma keeps to himself, one day offering the sex-driven girl a towel literally on a five-foot pole. He doesn’t like being touched, for a reason that combines a My Hero Academia quirk with Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth. Anytime someone even brushes past Yaginuma, said person’s true thoughts loudly pop out of their mouths. This factoid fully comes out after Ogami hands Yaginuma back his handkerchief, with the young girl exclaiming, “Show me your wiener.”
Thankfully, both Yaginuma and Ogami realize their situations, and decide to become quick friends. But the more the girl hangs with the boy, the more likely her true romantic and perverted feelings may pop out. This becomes a little more complicated when more friends enter their lives, from the tough looking-but-kind Matsukuma to the equally-pervy Nezu. As both Ogami and Yaginuma open themselves up to other people, that’s when they realize what they’ve been missing out of their high school lives.
At first, Ogami-san Can’t Keep It In looked to be leaning towards a more risqué angle. The constant sexual thoughts of the titular character take up a chunk of the first chapter, and while they are very funny, they could make some readers raise an eyebrow. But when Yaginuma enters the picture, and the friendship pact between him and Ogami is made, that’s when the true nature of Yu Yoshidamaru’s manga is fully revealed. This is a story about being true to one’s self, and how doing so may find them in a surprising comfort zone.
There is a sweetness that’s on display throughout the first volume. Whether it’s how Ogami aids in a weak-stomached Yaginuma after a violent movie viewing or Matsukuma embracing his cute side via crafting, the manga goes to great lengths to demonstrate the power of acceptance and openness. Yes, there’s a magic side to this narrative, but even so, it does a wonderful job showcasing how embracing one’s self will bring more good than keeping it all inside. And the best place this is displayed is during the school festival story.
It’s clear that Ogami doesn’t feel comfortable doing the sign for the class cafe, and her past is key to that. She was far more open in her middle school years with her love of sexual topics, but it would bite her in the behind when other students mocked her over-the-top sign she made back then. Before, she would just run away from her problems, going so far as to block out the world to avoid having to face them. However, she now has someone like Yaginuma in her corner, and it’s his words that make her realize that she and her interests aren’t a problem; it’s other people who can’t accept them who have the true issues!
Volume One of Ogami-san Can’t Keep It In is funny, earnest, and sweet. It may go down a few naughty routes here and there, but just about everyone has had these same thoughts as Ogami. All it takes to learn to embrace them is a good friend, and that something the truth-spilling Yaginuma does a great job with. Perhaps if we all had a magical pal who makes us spill our true thoughts and desires, maybe we wouldn’t have to be such a tight-lipped society.
My first graphic novel
I enjoyed this.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice level = 🫑
The story is fast paced. Quick easy read and fun to enjoy.
10/10! This was such an easy light-hearted read which checked off all the boxes for a good manga.
It was sweet, and funny, with loveable characters that make you want to read more!
This manga follows Ogami-san who at first seems like your average high-school girl but you quickly come to realize she has a quirk, she can't stop having dirty thoughts, it touches on making friends, shows that differences aren't so bad, bullying, and a budding romance. I wasn't sure what to expect just reading the synopsis but I'm so glad I picked this one up. I will definitely be reading the next volume when it comes out.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Great art work, but the story did not have much content and was hard to follow sometimes.
Hopeful for volume 2
Let teenage girls be horny!!!
This was a wild sort of semi-NSFW title about a girl who doesn't have any friends after a middle school trauma and a boy who, by just touching him, makes you say aloud your innermost thoughts. Oops? Along the way we also meet a beefy shy boy who likes cute things and a popular girl who's got the same sort of inner monologues as Ogami so lo, our high school outcasts have friends now!
This is cute (both story and art) and funny, and while a lot of manga and comics can be very like MALE GAZE BOOB SHOTS LET'S GO this is sort of more realistic about the things teens think about as they're learning about various things and how normal that is! Despite the little preternatural aspect.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the eARC; I'll definitely keep up with this series from here on out!
This was way cuter than I thought it would be! Ogami is constantly curious about members of the opposite sex and their differences, she becomes a self-imposed loner. She thinks this will keep her from blurting out what’s actually on her mind.
Until she decides to befriend Yaginuma, a boy who’s also a loner. Then she discovers that he keeps to himself because he has a quirk that makes anyone who touches him blurt out what they’re really thinking.
Despite this, the two agree to be friends. And draw other outcasts to them as well.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next edition!
Ogami-san has fantasies revolving around her sexual desires, but hides it to lead an ordinary life in school. However, her thoughts that she keeps to herself are spilled when she comes in physical contact with Yaginuma-kun, a boy in her class.
Aside the comedic moments involving the strange perverted thoughts of the Ogami-san or the off putting commentary, this manga explores youth, identity, secrets, society norms, and friendship. The characters in this manga are all imperfect. They're afraid of being judged for their interests which is quite relatable in reality, but eventually I think they'll find a way to be accepting of themselves, that there are people who would be fine with who they are in future volumes.
I also found the Yaginuma-kun's power quite interesting to know more about and I'm looking forwards to how situations would continue to change when he gets involved.
I was really surprised by this one~!
You'd think from the cover this be a bit more on the smut side, but it really isn't. Yes our main lead girl is a horny, but more curious, girl just trying to find herself in this world filled with a bunch of other people clueless about everything. When she meets a boy whom if she touches he can make them say their truest, deepest thoughts at that moment, makes for some entertaining, sometimes funny, sometimes adorable situations. But this is a coming of age story, some fun humor added, and a bit raunchy at times.
Well worth the read and I will for sure check out more! Thanks Netgalley for the advance review!
I'm not usually one for raunchy sex comedies, but this series has a few key points that ended my reading on a very positive note. 1. The lead is a teen girl who is interested in sex, and the hows and whys of puberty, but it's played as a genuine curiosity over say a vehicle for fanservice. 2. the tone is actually really wholesome once our main guy and gal become friends. Sure, if someone touches him they tends to blurt out their inner thoughts, (just go with it,) but in a lot of ways this acts as a catalyst to show just how normal a lot of that curiosity is, regardless of gender. Well played, Ogami-san!
I love that this was laid out in a combo format, still read each page in Manga format but book was not "backwards" I love the development in character relationships and acceptance between friendships. Cannot wait to read more
This is a manga that feels both exploitative and necessary. Exploitative because I can see pervs picking this up just to read about a horny schoolgirl and necessary because teen girls might pick this up and feel reassured that their carnal fascination is perfectly normal. Because it is normal, it's strange that there's even a manga addressing this but then Japan is also quite a buttoned-down society - not prudish but it is a country where, in a time when people everywhere are having less sex than ever, they're somehow managing to have even less sex. It's a decent manga for younger readers but the storylines didn't do anything for me, as I'm not within this demo.
I really liked this Manga. It is diffrent from the normal ones. I remeber reading this manga in 2020 or 2021. But I couldnt help and read it again. It shows that peoeple are discriminating other people over their thoughts even tho they think the same. It also shows how Sex and the opposite gender ist a Tabu theme in many countries. I really cant wait for the second one! :)
Not appropriate for my age group, but a great read nonetheless! Thank you for the advanced copy and I hope to read more from this publisher.
