Thank you to the Independent Publisher for allowing me to read and review It’s Not for Shots! on NetGalley.

The illustrations are brightly colored and immediately I thought happy not sad. I wouldn't have approved pumps on the moms especially knowing they were going to run after the kids (5 years old?). That didn't make sense to me.
I think that there should have been a discussion prior to the doctor appointment on what would happen. Stepping off a bus into a car was farfetched. Chasing kids in pumps and moms with their hands on their hips left me wondering if this was satirical.
On the other hand, the book could possibly help a caregiver fostering a child. It could potentially aid in conversations about doctor visits. However, I think that is a longshot.
Overall, this is a subject miss.
A heartwarming children's picture book that tackles a common childhood fear with grace and humor. The story revolves around a child who's terrified of going to the doctor due to a previous experience with shots. The child's apprehension is beautifully portrayed, and parents will undoubtedly relate to the back-and-forth between the child and the patient mom.
Lexi Books' simple yet effective storytelling, coupled with charming illustrations, makes this a must-read for both children and their parents. It's a delightful reminder that even though doctor visits may seem daunting, they're ultimately for our well-being.
Guess what, folks! I stumbled upon It's Not for Shots! by Lexi Books, and it's an absolute gem of a children's book. Let me tell you, this story is a hoot! It's all about a kid who's scared stiff of going to the doctor because of those dreaded shots. I mean, who can blame them, right? But the real star here is Mom – she's on a mission to convince the little one that doctors are superheroes in disguise.
What I love about this book is how it tackles a common childhood fear in such a relatable and entertaining way. The back-and-forth banter between the child and Mom had me in stitches, and I couldn't help but cheer for Mom's unwavering determination. It's Not for Shots! is more than just a children's book; it's a hilarious and heartwarming reminder that sometimes, even when we're scared, we need to trust the experts.
This is a good topic for a book which helps young children overcome fear of going to the doctor. However, the production value would be best suited as a brochure to hand out to parents to read to their children.
I was extremely excited to read this book! My initial thoughts were, perfect! A book to help children see that not all visits to the doctor are scary! However, the dialog in this book was awful and if a kid was reading it, they wouldn't know where to read first. Great overall storyline- poor execution of it.
