This was another gripping read from CL Taylor, I'm such a fan of her books. They are always so well written, easy to devour and have great twisty plots! This story comes from the heart too, as Cally shares in her author notes about her own frightening experience with a stalker. It really must be terrifying and I commend her for being able to write this novel when it hits so close to home.

The characters in the story are well written, although we are introduced to many so our lovely group of buddy readers were great at reminding who was who.

This was certainly a tense and creepy thriller. Short chapters made it fast paced. There was a lot going on with so many characters and stalkers and I wanted to flip the pages to find out what was next.

I highly recommend this thriller which is published today!

Have you read a CL Taylor novel? If you're a thriller fan I'd say this author is a must read!

Thanks again to netgally, Avon books and CL Taylor for my advanced readers copy.

C.L. Taylor's "Every Move You Make" is a gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. As a fan of Taylor's previous works, I was eagerly anticipating this release, and I was not disappointed.

The premise of the book is both intriguing and chillingly realistic. Four individuals, Alexandra, Lucy, River, and Bridget, find themselves connected by a shared experience of being stalked. Despite never having met in person, they form a bond born out of fear and desperation. When they receive a threatening message indicating that one of them will die within a week, they band together to confront their stalkers head-on.

Taylor masterfully weaves together the perspectives of these four characters, allowing readers to delve deep into their lives, fears, and the sinister presence of their stalkers. Each character is distinct and well-developed, though it may take a moment to fully grasp their individual narratives amidst the flurry of information presented at the outset.

What sets this book apart is its exploration of the psychological toll of stalking, not only on the victims but also on their loved ones. Taylor delves into the fear, helplessness, and frustration experienced by those targeted, while also highlighting the limitations of law enforcement in dealing with such cases.

The pacing of the story is relentless, with the majority of the events unfolding within a tense ten-day period. Despite my early suspicions about the eventual reveal, Taylor skillfully peppers the narrative with red herrings that kept me guessing until the end. Even when my suspicions were confirmed, the execution was so well-done that it did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.

In conclusion, "Every Move You Make" is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. With its intricate plot, well-drawn characters, and thought-provoking themes, it's a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page. My sincere thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this captivating novel.

A group of stalker victims are concerned when one of their members goes quiet days after her stalker is released from prison. When their worst fears are confirmed, they gather together at the funeral, but when a threat is received, they realise the clock is ticking for them to get their lives back.

There are many characters in this story, but the format did well to keep track of them without getting confused. I enjoyed the fast-pace, tense tale and the authors personal experience shines through.

I have read several books by this author, but this was my least favourite by far. I found the story was far-fetched and quite unbelievable in places, although I was very sorry to read that the plot is based on personal experiences.

The countdown is apparently on when four stalker victims receive a wreath at a friend’s funeral, detailing a supposed death date. Each character is convinced they will be murdered by their stalker and will do anything to survive. Except, it would seem, involve the police. And this is the theme for most of the story: all of the characters complete rather extreme, over the top actions, without any consideration of the law. The logic is that the police will offer no support and the stalker will continue to haunt their lives – prison will only provide a hiatus until this stops. Of course, the only way to overcome this is to trap the stalker and murder them. Of course!

I really struggled with the lack of belief in the police. I could understand the desperation that the characters felt but believe this was mis-placed. Whilst it is revealed that the author has been on the receiving end of such hateful watching, I wished the characters had been more likeable and less rash in their actions. For example, Lucy’s time in Dartmoor seemed incredibly unrealistic and I could not understand how so much goes unnoticed by any sort of authority organisation.

The novel switches between the four victims and I eventually struggled to keep their identities separate in my mind. In my opinion, they were too similar, resulting in the names getting blended. This was especially difficult when the characters start to get involved with the other stalkers in a bid to plant a tracking device for the victim’s peace of mind. Some are identified, some trackers are found and I found this part of the plot difficult to swallow – how could such a device never be found and how could the victims readily believe them?

This was a difficult book to read because I know this is a topic that is sadly relevant to too many people. Perhaps my inability to empathise with this crime made the story more difficult to believe but, I do find it frustrating when the police are just portrayed as inept and not willing to investigate crimes reported. On the other hand, maybe my personal perception is too rose-tinted in a budget-stricken society…

Overall, I did not enjoy this story as much as I was hoping for. Indeed, whilst I could not foresee how the story would conclude, it took too long to get there. There were too many unrealistic actions along the way that, by the time I had reached the conclusion, I did not care too much about what happened to the characters.

With thanks to Avon books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've always been a big fan of CL Taylor's thriller so I always look forward to a new release by her, and Every Move You Make is another fast-paced thriller that's easy to enjoy.

Taylor always writes strong and memorable characters, which is what makes her story so readable. I especially appreciate Taylor sharing her experience of stalking in her Author's Notes, and you can tell she has a lot of insight to share as Every Move You Make explores many different kinds and levels of stalking and describes the sense of terror it can instil very well. Her characters, therefore, feel very authentic, and I found it really interesting to see the different kinds of reactions from each of their perspectives.

I've seen a few reviews saying that they easily predicted which way the story was heading, and I think it is easy to make some assumptions, but there's still a lot that will take you by surprise too. It certainly kept me guessing and engaged throughout, anyway, so I found this to be a very enjoyable and thought-provoking read with a dark enough twist for the suspense to keep you reading well into the night.

C.L. Taylor never disappoints, and Every Move You Make is no exception.
The writing was sharp and at a perfect pace that kept me interested.
The plot was twisty and unpredictable. Taylor deftly weaves an engaging storyline.
A page turner of a suspense novel that will suck you in quickly so sit down read, and enjoy the ride.

How unsettling to have a stalker, someone who makes you feel uncomfortable and unsafe at every moment of the day. That is what Natalie, Alexandra, Lucy, Bridget & River discuss during their stalking support group. When Natalie is murdered, the group is reeling. Natalie's murder is a frightening reminder of just how serious stalking can be and how much danger they are in. To make matters worse, when they receive a message that one of them will be dead in ten days’ time, their anxiety goes through the roof!

I loved how the author gave readers a countdown during the book i.e. 5 days to murder. This was a nice touch. Readers are also given the POV’s and WhatsApp messages of the group members. We also get to know the characters through their backstories. This book started strongly, and I was instantly engrossed in the story, feeling for the characters. Along the line, this book began to feel unnecessarily long and lost some of its mojo for me. Plus, there are quite a few characters and their stalkers which took this reader some time to wrap my head around who is stalking who.

This book was dramatic and did evoke emotion. How do you not feel for someone who is living in fear? I also wanted to yell "Just go to the police” many times throughout the book. While the middle of the book felt long to me, I did enjoy the twists and turns which occurred at warp speed toward the end of the book.

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚

Every Move You Make - @cltaylorauthor

I am a big fan of Cally Taylor and I've read all of her books. I always look forward to her newest books as I know I'll be hooked straightaway and this one was no different. She is the master of riveting plots and drawing you in.

This book is absolutely terrifying and so claustrophobic. The atmosphere was written so well and the genuine fears of what it's like to feel truly scared and violated by someone who just won't let up. I've read lots of the thrillers with stalking elements but I felt the author captured this with such realism. It then became clearer when I read the author's notes as to why this was.

This book explores what you do when you are truly at the end of your tether and need to take matters into your own hands. When you are being stalked and it spills out into every single element of your life these characters try and take the control back. It was refreshing to read about these group of characters that were thrown together due to their traumas because everyone wants a support group and to feel you aren't alone when bad things happen. When the victims then strive to have the upper hand it doesn't quite go to plan. It's a captivating and thrilling end but I can't stop thinking about this book.

Thank you to @netgalley for allowing me to read this ahead of its release. Look out for this one as it's a great thriller.

A sensational and sadly topical book! Totally loved everything about this stand-alone book. Chilling, suspenseful, exciting, mysterious and complex are some descriptive adjectives that come to mind!

The excitement grabs you immediately and never gives you time to breathe. I loved the characters - their lives were all very disturbing/ interesting. The plot was something else with so many twists and turns right up to the end.

I thoroughly recommend reading this book. The author’s note at the end added some weight of authenticity. Any book by C.L.Taylor is superb!

C. L. Taylor has quickly become a must read author for me. This is another amazing thriller by her. The storyline was really unique. A group of people form a support group for being stalked. When one of their members is murdered by their stalker, things quickly escalate for all of them. They decide to try and take control to keep themselves and each other safe. Right away this book starts off with a bang. You’re instantly pulled right in. The middle of the book gets a little drawn out without much action. There’s a lot of characters to get to know. Once things start ramping up again, this book was impossible to put down. The twists just kept on coming. Just when you think you know everything, the biggest twist of all comes. I never saw it coming. I highly recommend this book. The author’s note at the end makes you aware that these characters’ stories aren’t as unbelievable as you may think. Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced copy!

CL Taylor has done it again, a brilliantly plotted, twisty dark emotional read.

This book starts with a tough opening, from there, the pace is relentless and the tension palpable.

The story continues, with alternating narratives moving the plot forwards, slowly revealing the backstory to each of the characters. I found it took a while for me to be able to discern the characters clearly, apart from one.

What was a simple, dark plot, quickly develops into a twisted, frenetic, multi-layered mind blowing story. And just when you think it is moving towards a conclusion, another twist comes at you!

The horrors of being stalked are clearly portrayed through this book, along with the importance of friendship.

Highly recommend this book!

3.5 stars
This is a good psychological thriller.
Alex, Lucy, Bridget, River and Natalie are all being affected by a stalker, and come together via a support group.
When Natalie is killed by her stalker, the others decide they need to take action. This is reinforced when a wreath is passed to them with a date on it and as the date means something to most of them, they're unsure who it was meant for.
The story follows the group on a countdown to the date on the wreath and with chapters from each character we get more of an insight into their lives.
There's quite a lot of characters in this book and it was tricky at times following who was living with who, and which character had which stalker.
This is not as gripping as other books by this author but is still a good read.

Oddly, I spent the first few chapters of this book thinking that I'd read it before. Which isn't possible. I hadn't read it before but I think I have read something similar, on the whole stalker vibe.

I had mixed feelings about this book. Overall, I enjoyed it and there were some pretty tense moments that had me flipping the pages on my kindle super quickly. However there were moments that didn't feel hugely believable to me. Not the stalking; that was very real and quite frankly, petrifying, it was more some of the smaller details and happenings that I couldn't make work in my mind.

I had my suspicions about a particular character very early on and it turned out that I was 100% right to suspect them. What I wasn't able to work out until the very end was the motive and reasoning behind their actions. It was fun trying to piece the parts of the puzzles together and to analyse the characters to try and decipher whether they were honest and true or hiding parts of their lives or secrets.

This was a good thriller that I enjoyed and had a good time with. Upon reflection, the stalking and how far it went was chilling and it took me some time to step away from the book to really think about that and place myself in the shoes of the victims. Another C.L. Taylor book that I can tick off the list.

Five strangers became friends when they joined a stalking group. They are each other’s support and motivation. At Nat’s wake they receive a note saying in “10 days one of them dies”. It’s time they put matters into their hands and get revenge. Thank you to NetGalley and publisher.

I tend to enjoy C.L. Taylor's psychological thrillers, and I admit that I was fully intrigued as soon as I first heard about Every Move You Make. The stalking angle, the murder, the threat that one of the others is next... It sounded like the perfect premise for a suspenseful and nail-biting ride, and I've been looking forward to finally read it. I'm not surprised at all that I ended up having an excellent time with this story! Sure, some aspects are a bit too farfetched or convenient, but there is no denying that this story delivers one heck of a ride.

What gave this story even more impact is the fact that the author herself was a victim of stalking in the past, and I applaude her for taking such a negative experience and turn it into this gem. I can't even imagine what it would be like having to live with a stalker, and the author does a fantastic job portraying these emotions in a genuine way. Every Move You Make isn't your regular stalker psychological thriller though. Instead of just one stalker and one victim, there are actually multiple of both in play. On top of this, the victims decide to fight back and stalk their stalkers instead... Which was probably one of the things I loved most about the plot.

Every Move You Make uses a multiple POV structure, and I do have to say that it took me a little while to properly keep them apart and remember every detail about their situation and private life. At times they even started to sound similar? I think maybe there was initially a bit too much focus on background, red herrings and other unrelated information, and this slowed down the pace a little. That said, things pick up soon enough, and there is plenty of action to be found along the way. And those twists! Especially once you get closer to the deadline, there is a LOT going on. It's true that some of the twists were a bit too convenient (why do cell phones always have to die in critical moments?!), while others were a bit too farfetched. If you can look past that, the story is without doubt highly entertaining though.

As for the characters... I can't say that I really warmed up to them, but somehow I wasn't too bothered by that. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that there is SO much happening and you will find yourself more worried about the deadline and other events. Every Move You Make has a bit of an unreliable narrator vibe, as you are never completely sure if everyone is telling the truth. This feeling will only become more accute once certain information is revealed... And while I did guess part of the twist, I never saw the full truth coming.

If you are looking for an entertaining and tense psychological thriller focused on stalking and don't mind suspending your disbelief in parts, Every Move You Make will be a great match. I unfortunately found this lacking in the creep and suspense I expected from a stalker story. It was also weird that a stalker would take on a group for the purpose of them knowing their true target.

I couldn’t get connected with the characters at all, so I didn’t get invested in the stalker. Not for me.

Wow! what a good read. CL Taylor kept me reading and reading right until the end.
Alex, Lucy, River, Bridget and Natalie are all victims of stalking and have come together in a support group.
Then Natalie is killed by her stalker by her front door and everything changes.
A wreath is given to them at the funeral and it has a significant date on it. with RIP. The trouble is the date means something to several of them and they don't know who the threat is aimed at.
We follow the group through the days leading to the date and witness the behaviour of the stalkers, see the manipulation and the lengths they go to to destroy their victims lives.
Although it's fiction, it's a very interesting read.

This is exceptionally written. I was hooked & couldn’t put it down. It sad that people feel the need to harass people, after a relationship breaks down or friendships or just being nice to someone online.
This is an easy to follow story about stalking but has twists & turns to keep you engaged.
I loved it & recommend everyone to read this book.

Genre ~ psychological thriller
Setting ~ London
Publication date ~ March 28, 2024
Page Count ~ 422 (59 chapters)
Audio length ~ 10 hours 8 minutes
Narrator ~ Clare Corbett
POV ~ multiple 3rd
Featuring ~ stalking, murder

Natalie, Alexandra, Lucy, Bridget & River have formed a victim of a stalking support group. They have a What’s App thread they use to constantly check in on each other to make sure everything is okay. Then they are down to 4 when Natalie is murdered. They form a plan in order to keep their stalkers at bay. The plan is a good one, but is it good enough to keep the remaining 4 alive?

We get each of their POV’s along with a countdown to the day they think one of them will be murdered next. Besides the stalkees, we have a bunch of other characters to keep track of like their significant others, coworkers and the stalkers, too. This did make it feel long, but there was enough action and dumb choices that kept me reading into the night. The twist was both shocking and not really much so. Overall, middle of the road fine.

I definitely appreciate the author sharing her personal story in the note at the end that gave the whole reasoning behind this book. It gave her some first hand knowledge that she put forth in the character development making the fear they felt seem realistic.
