When Will kills someone with a single punch, he is terrified that the police will come after him. The person who does come after him though is a creepy stranger who filmed the incident and threatened to release the video to the police.
This unusual psychological thriller follows Will’s many encounters with his blackmailer and charts his fear and worry over the police investigation. Will is not a likeable character and he deserves a prison sentence but I ended up rooting for him.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Debut psychological/thriller with more than a hint of menace
What happens when you accidentally do something you could live to regret but ‘get away with’…..you live in fear you might be found out…and when you are the nightmare really starts
Will is a good character, he is chaotic, frantic and anxious but then he has a need to be but underlying it all he is a decent bloke
Solly the other main character in the book is not, he makes rancid seem acceptable, the descriptions of him are brilliantly repulsive and the author builds a very clear picture of someone you never want to meet or deal with
The story is good, very fast paced and you never quite know what will happen
An author to look out for without doubt and a book that will have you thinking about what you would do in Will’s situation
Will did a stupid thing one evening on his way home on a night out, he thought he had got away with it but someone was watching, and the police know somethings not right. Really enjoyed the twists and turns of this thriller, had me hooked early into the story and the characters and story were believable and compelling until the unanticipated but altogether condign ending.
Will is involved in an incident with a stranger with a fatal outcome. In the days that follow he analyses the situation he is in and becomes acutely observant of his own actions and what is going on around him. His behaviour and thought process, as he grapples with his moral dilemma, are skilfully described to really show his mental anguish.
Key characters are introduced into his life and aid to further build the intensity of Will’s emotions. A psychological battle ensues between Will, the police and a witness to the incident. There are clever plot twists with a great conclusion.
I found this to be a well paced and totally gripping story. I’m a bit confused though as to the choice of title for the book. However, it was the combination of the unusual title and the synopsis that drew me to it!
Will went to the pub with some of his friends from work. After a few drinks he made his way home. He then encountered a man walking towards him and there was an altercation that left his life in turmoil.
Lots of twist and turns in this story that kept me entertained.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bedford Square Publishers for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is A quick easy read. Nothing too memorable or unique about it though. A good book to fill the gaps.
I thought this book was promising. I did find after the initial shock event, the book plodded along a bit .I thought it was okay, but I wasn't fully invested in it .I wish I had enjoyed it more, it was alright but a bit slow for me.
Ahh, dear. I'm kicking myself as I usually manage to keep my eyes on the archive date and download before they occur, but I somehow managed to miss this one. I have just purchased it as I still want to read it as much as ever, My apologies for missing the archive date. I only have so much space on my device, so having archive dates nearly two month ahead of release can cause this issue when downloading routines are in place, but hopefully I will get it sorted eventually.
This was abit of a fresh take and a plot I hadn't read before. It definitely had twists and turns and kept me guessing. A quick and easy read that does what it says on the tin
The Weatherman by Royston Reeves - what an amazing read. Just when you think you have figured out what is going to happen next - the plot twists again.
Will made a big mistake one night and it was caught on video by Solly - a character i just loved to hate.
The twists and turns in this book were brilliant - really enjoyed. i look forward to reading more from Royston.
