This was okay and kinda interesting but it wasnt a favorite. I tried to get into it but it felt scattered at time and hard to follow. I wanted more from it but it just didnt do anything for me.

I had shivers down my spine... you must read this book. It was unputdownable and brilliantly terrifying... if you aren't already a huge fan of Helen Phifer, you will be
Detective Maria Miller and her partner investigate what looks to be an occult murder. In 1952 another occult murder where the victims head was chopped off also happened there. This was a great read that I finished quickly. It was very creepy and filled with supernatural suspense. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Wow! Wow!!!! The Haunting on West 10th Street by Helen Phifer, narrated by Stephanie Canon, proved to be an incredibly gripping supernatural crime thriller—an audiobook that held me captive throughout! What added to the excitement was the fact that it's the inaugural installment in a new Detective Maria Miller Police Procedural Mystery series. How thrilling! I absolutely loved it.

In this enthralling narrative, you encounter NYPD homicide detectives Maria Miller and Frank Conroy, both of whom are captivating characters. It marks an excellent beginning to what promises to be a fantastic new series.

A resounding 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating, and I wholeheartedly recommend this book or audiobook.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and the brilliant author Helen Phifer for providing me with an early copy of this outstanding book.

This was something really different from Helen Phifer and I really did enjoy it but also the best part is this is book 1 of a brand new series and I’m really looking forward to the next instalments.
So although this is a mystery thriller it also has a supernatural element which worked well for me and it most certainly was creepy without being a full on horror story. I loved the two main characters of Marie and Frankie both were very likeable and well written and I can’t wait to read more about the two of them and their ongoing story. The book is written in two timelines past and present with these two timelines coming together as the book drew to a very exciting conclusion.
I loved that this read was something different I raced through it and for me that’s always a sign of a great read and it was! So what more can you ask for it’s one not to be missed and a read I would highly recommend, many thanks to Helen Phifer …please write quick I need the next book !!

Absolutely excellent. A good ghost/ haunted house story with a mix of demons and murder both old and new. I loved Detective Maria Miller and hope there are more novels featuring her. She is a no nonsense badass New York Detective not easily fooled or pushed around.
I promise you, turn off the TV and read this book. Better than most you can find on the tube.
Helen Phifer has joined my list of just reads.
Highly recommend

“The Haunting of West 10th Street” is a new police procedural mystery by Helen Phifer. This is book 1 in this new series that I have no doubts will be successful.

The book has a dual timeline and multiple perspectives to keep the reader entertained with the story. I look forward to reading the next adventures for this pair of detectives.

Thank you NetGalley, Helen Phifer, and Fabrian Books for selecting me to enjoy this ARC.

I’ve read other books by the author & was so looking forward to reading this one.; but was disappointed. It felt like the first book written by the author. I felt the story was choppy, didn’t follow easily.

The Haunting on West 10th Street is the first book in the Detective Maria Miller series by Helen Phifer. I am a huge fan of Phifer's, so I was excited to check out this new series. Detective Maria Miller and her partner, Frankie, are called to a horrific crime scene in the attic of an old brownstone in New York City. Maria is horrified at what she sees and feels a presence in the attic. The victim will be hard to identify except for a unique tattoo running along the side of her body. It's gonna be awhile until Maria and Frankie get this scene out of their minds.

Maria and Frankie's boss, Addison, calls them into his office. His daughter who is studying criminology has discovered that there was a murder in the same attic 60 years ago. The scene was just as horrific and so similar that the killer must be the same person or they have a copycat on their hands. Both crime scenes involved satanic rituals and the victims were missing body parts that were never recovered. As the investigation progresses, Maria feels like she's being watched and followed. When she goes home one day her neighbor tells her she found her door open. She went in to Maria's apartment to check it out, but everything seemed okay. When Maria went in everything was just as she left it except the toilet seat was up and she never leaves it up. Maria has a chill run through her and can't shake the feeling she's being watched.

Will the killer come after Maria? Will Maria and Frankie be able to solve this horrific murder and solve the cold case? How many more victims will there be? This is an outstanding first book in a new series. I really liked it and it gave me the creeps several times. I rate The Haunting on West 10th Street 4 stars with a high recommendation. I read the book in one day as you will have trouble putting it down! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of The Haunting on West 10th Street in exchange for a fair review. #TheHauntingOnWest10thStreet

I’ve read her crime reads but this horror added in was new. Highly enjoyable haunted house yarn that is part thriller, part horror, part supernatural and part police procedural. it’s worth branching out into this sub genre of hers.

Maria is a homicide detective who had a case three years earlier that stuck with her because of the brutal crime scene and the fact that no killer was ever found. When it's discovered that a very similar murder occurred in the same apartment 60+ years prior, she and her partner reopen the case, but the building itself feels sinister and the residents claim it is haunted. I didn't enjoy the writing in this, and I was surprised to see that it had such great ratings and that the author has written a bunch of other books. It felt like a first novel, and while I have an advance copy, it felt like it could stand for a good editing. I made it 3/4 of the way through and quit. 2 stars.

The Haunting on West 10th Street tells the story of a murder that resembles a murder that took place in the past. But with 50+ years between events, is it the original killer or a copycat? We follow female detective Maria Miller through the investigation and a dive into history to find more information on the previous crime to see if there are similarities that she can track to those involved.

This read was a bit of a mix of crime novel, mystery/thriller, horror, and a little romance thrown in. I did enjoy this book, as a mood reader I had saved it for October and Halloween season. The story is told from multiple points of view and multiple points in time. We see some of the original murder through the eyes of those present at the time, as well as the view from the murderer himself. I would definitely recommend to readers that enjoy this type of crime novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Fabrian Books for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book captivated me from start to finish. The dynamics between Maria and Frankie added a warmth and depth that complemented the thrilling plot perfectly. The characters felt like real people, and the dialogue flowed naturally. The author's skillful blend of genres created a rich and engaging story that kept me guessing. I particularly enjoyed the unexpected dashes of humor that added a delightful texture to the narrative. Overall, a truly talented author has crafted a gem of a book that will appeal to fans of both crime and paranormal fiction.

This is not my usual choice of book, but I thought I would try it. Whilst I was gripped to the end, I found it challenging to read as it was not always good to read at night. For those who enjoy such stories I am sure that they will enjoy it. It is well written.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my
Copy of this book.

Detectives Maria and Frankie are a team. They investigate when a body is found without limbs or a head. Years later they are asked to look at things again as a cold case. They find similarities to a much older case. And so they investigate trying to find the links.

This story is told in present and past. I really enjoyed the partnership of the two detectives and their relationship. This is well written and you can feel the fear felt. I’m not a huge fan supernatural stories hence knocking off a star.

The Haunting on West 10th Street just didn't work for me at all. Nothing about the characters, relationships, or dialogue felt authentic to me -- it seemed very one-dimensional, with people moving around the page without a real inner life. There wasn't enough spookiness to keep me interested without characters I care about, so I decided not to read further after the 25% mark. I think this will appeal more to readers who are looking for a quick, plot-driven read and don't mind less interesting characters.
