I really enjoyed the first book and this duet and this second one did not disappoint, even though it’s a little strange I just loved it.

It gets you hooked even when you’re thinking what’s the actual truth!

I love this author

Too Far - Sylvia Day

I haven't read the first book in the series and maybe this would have helped me a bit with understanding the characters, I found them a little crazy to be honest, a little too much for me. This was just not for me, but reading other reviews I can see I am in the minority. Thanks so much Netgalley, Michael Joseph and Penguin Random House for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions

Too Far was a book I found very predictable. Characters felt quite flat and it felt as if the story was just a vehicle for the more steamier aspects of the book.

This is the second book in a series and while it can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading book one 'So Close' first.

If you are a fan of the authors crossfire series you will love this one.

An enjoyable read, great story and brilliant characters.

I've been meaning to read this second book in the duopoly for some time and now felt like the right time to get to it.

I struggled through the first 30% of this book; mostly because I couldn't quite remember what happened in the first book. I started to re-familiarise myself with the characters, but I was struggling with some of the nuances of the plot. After that though, it all started coming back to me and I was engrossed in the story.

When I say the characters in this book are cray cray, I truly mean it. Some of it errs on the side of unbelievable, but I let myself get swept away with the story and the characters with it. I remember feeling a lot of sympathy for Amy in the first book and this continued in book 2. She was definitely a sane character thrown amongst a whacko family. If someone offered me all of the family money they had floating around in return for going for dinner with this group of people, it would be a hard pass from me.

If you're interested in this book, I'd definitely recommend reading the first one in close proximity as there isn't much of a catch up at the beginning. Other than that, accept the wild plot and the bizarre characters and you'll be in for a good time.

The WAIT for this book has been SOOOOOOOO long. This author had me hooked so many years ago. It has taken every ounce of strength I have, to not re-read the Bared to You series!

Continuing the narrative established in "So Close," "Too Far" unfolds in the expansive Crossfire world, chronicling the intricate lives of Kane Black, his resurrected deceased wife, and their family. The storyline is rife with unexpected twists and turns, delving into buried secrets and navigating through a landscape marked by pervasive violence.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

The legendary author of the Crossfire series brings another great novel. I was hooked from the first page and cannot recommend it enough for you to get stuck in with another series.

I haven't read the first one in the series but wish I had before reading this just to understand the characters a bit more and their back story, although can be read as a stand alone, I enjoyed the book but not as much as some of her previous novels, worth a read though, thanks

This is the second novel in a series and I feel that although other readers were happy to suggest it works as a standalone I felt that I would have had a better understanding if I had read book 1 first.

A good read featuring a string family with many twisted relationships and the mystery of a wife feared dead returning from her grave.

Not my usual type of book but I enjoyed it and it was was well written and kept my interest.

Sylvia Day's "Too Far" weaves a tale of intrigue, deception, and familial turmoil, yet falls short of fully realizing its potential. The story revolves around Lily Black, who reappears after years of presumed death, triggering a cascade of dangerous events that threaten the stability of her family.

The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of three women - Lily, Aliyah, and Amy - each grappling with their own pasts and the intricate web of family dynamics. While the premise holds promise, the execution lacks the depth needed to fully engage the reader.

Day introduces a web of mystery surrounding Lily's disappearance and return, but the resolution feels rushed and fails to provide the satisfying payoff expected in a suspenseful novel. The plot twists are foreseeable, and the character motivations, particularly those of Aliyah and Amy, lack the nuanced development needed to make them truly compelling.

The pacing of the novel is uneven, with moments of heightened tension followed by slower, less engaging segments. The narrative alternates between the perspectives of the three women, offering glimpses into their individual struggles, but fails to create a cohesive and immersive storyline.

The characterizations, while attempting to convey complexity, often fall into clichés and stereotypes. Lily's enigmatic return lacks the emotional impact that such a pivotal moment in the story requires, leaving the reader wanting more depth and connection with the characters.

Despite these shortcomings, "Too Far" has moments of suspense and the potential for a gripping family drama. The exploration of the intertwined lives of the three women hints at shared secrets and commonalities, but these threads are not fully developed, leaving the narrative feeling incomplete.

In conclusion, Sylvia Day's "Too Far" has the foundation for a compelling family drama filled with secrets and suspense. However, the execution falls short, with predictable plot twists and underdeveloped character arcs preventing the novel from reaching its full potential. While it may offer some entertainment for readers seeking a quick and light suspense read, it ultimately lacks the depth and complexity needed to make it truly memorable.

I wanted to like this book so much, since I loved the first part, but I just couldn't get over how little groveling he had to do and how toxic were the characters, especially Amy.

In Sylvia Day's "Too Far," I found an intriguing concept that delivers the expected spiciness from this renowned author. The plot is captivating, and the story itself is quite interesting. The narrative is fast-paced, filled with tension, and the chemistry between the characters is off the charts.
As I read through the pages, I can't help but get drawn into the complexities of the characters, especially Lily, Kane, and Aliyah. Their relationships are intricate, adding depth to the story. While Day's writing style is sensual and engaging, there are moments where the descriptions become a bit too elaborate for my liking but some books are just meant to be like that.
Overall, "Too Far" is a great conclusion to the duet, offering a suspenseful and thought-provoking tale of love, betrayal, and family intrigue. The characters grapple with their pasts, and the story raises questions about identity and shared connections, making it a thrilling addition to Sylvia Day's impressive body of work.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley, opinions are my own.

The conclusion to Sylvia Day’s Blacklist duet and while it took me a few chapters to get into this book, perhaps I should’ve done a re-read of the previous book to refresh my memory before picking up this one but eventually the story, told from several points of view, began to fall into place and I was once again absorbed in this intriguing and suspense-filled plot. Full of tension and strong emotions, Too Far moves at a fast pace, and secrets and revelations abound as Kane and Lily find opposition to their happiness at every turn. As I’ve come to expect from this author the chemistry between the hero and heroine sizzled and the love scenes were scorching. Perhaps it did feel a little too wordy in places but that’s my personal opinion, other readers might prefer more description. One thing I am glad about is that it doesn’t look like the Blacklist will evolve into a multi book series and outstay it’s welcome.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, and whilst I felt a sense of closure by the end I did find myself disappoint.
Too Far is the following on from So Close, set in the Crossfire world, following the lives of Kane Black, his dead wife (now returned) and their family. There was lots of twists and turns within the story, many buried secrets and lots of violence. I am glad there was a redemption arc for both Amy and Alyiah I also felt that Alyiah’s was rushed, not deserved and unclear, it felt like it backtracked from the previous book and that some of the information we were given regarding her.
I wish this book had more collective scenes where all the characters were together, it felt quite disjointed the whole way through which meant there was a lack of cohesiveness throughout.
Whilst I didn’t hate the book and I am a big Sylvia Day fan I just found this book left me feeling empty, I needed more from it.

I struggled to like this one. The writing style was hard to adjust to as it just didn’t seem to flow too easily. Although a lot is happening, nothing is really happening. Because there is so much going on, the time line keeps jumping and we keep changing characters, it’s hard to follow and link to any character. It also means that much of the plot is not fleshed out as much as I would have like. I did however like a few of the characters. I like Rogelio, strong and doesn’t take any shit. I enjoyed Kane. And Witte’s chapters were good.

There was a lot going on and I felt some bits were glazed over too quickly and would have been better having more details. But apart from that you could feel the emotion and tension and I didn’t see the twists coming! The different pov’s were all well written and strong characters and felt real.
