Love Mothman, the very best cryptid. This book was surprisingly cute. I'd have never thought to mix cryptids and Christmas.
Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas is an adorable re-telling of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I love cryptids and Mothman is absolutely one of my favorites. This is a cute story with adorable illustrations.
This is a really cute redo of Rudolph using one of my favorite cryptids! I love that cryptids are appearing in kids lit more often, and I’d definitely give this to kids in my life.
I know this book is for kids, but it is a bit like the Pixar movies, intended for kids, but has a few little jokes that the parents can enjoy also.
This book is ideal for the horror or Cryptids fans who have kids.
This book was adorable and the illustrations were beautiful. I loved all the little details. The second I finished reading the ARC I pre-ordered the physical copy.
I love Mothman so I was very excited to read this book. A great present for kids of adult who are fans of Cryptids.
This is such a charming children's book that pays homage to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer but with Mothman in the titular role. The artwork looks amazing and it's a really fun, quick read. I will definitely be purchasing a copy or two for family members when this is released. My only true complaint is with the name. Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas is a cute name on its own, but it does not effectively communicate that this is paying homage to Rudolph. I guess Mothman the Red Eyed Reindeer might be too on the nose, no pun intended. Just my thoughts.
I don’t normally make it a habit of casually reading children’s books- but when I saw this title I couldn’t help but download it. Mothman is my favorite cryptid and Christmas is my favorite holiday- the mash up I didn’t know I needed! There’s so many children’s books that end up being reworked versions of popular stories or songs but, in my opinion, this one really takes the cake. This book was super cute and I loved the guide at the end with questions and discussion topics for your children!
This was a super cute book for kids. It did lean a bit too heavily into its homage to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but overall, it was a fun read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC. This review contains my honest, unbiased opinion.
This was a fun book to read with my young son. It allowed for a great conversation about cryptids. The illustrations were fun and I enjoyed that Bigfoot was part of the story too. A must have for an cryptid lover.
Lots of kids believe in Santa, why can't they believe in Mothman too?! This adorably illustrated book is great for cryptid-loving kids and adults! I loved this newest edition to the Mothman fandom!
When Mothman is sad and lonely at Christmastime, who better to cheer him up than Santa himself? Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas is a delightful spin on the tale of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, with Mothman in the starring role.
This is a fun seasonal book, with adorable illistrations and an easy to follow rhyming pattern. The Q&A section at the back was a nice touch for those unfamiliar with the mothiness of Mothman.
One of my kids is mad about cryptids, especially Mothman, so this will be finding its way into his stocking this year!
~Many thanks to NetGalley and 8th Circle Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~
This book was a silly little read that made me giggle. I can imagine kids will find it just as funny & ridiculous. The thing that made me chuckle the most was the little endnotes for parents - "lies! this is a homage, not a rip-off.", very funny! My only note is that the writing could use some rhyming to make it more fluid, it felt quite clunky & non-sensical.
This was so adorable! I love moth man and a Christmas book about him replacing Rudolph was funny. I liked the simple art and I would definitely recommend this book as a fun short read for children.
OMG THIS WAS A SPECIAL READ.... Im a grown up kid and found the story idea and artwork absolutely delightful. It truly turned my knob, as I am owned by not one, but THREE Chupacabras :-) (actually, they are hairless Peruvian Inca Orchid (dog) sisters....but they have been known to cause their share of freak-out in public. I hope theres a Chupa story coming down the pike, maybe next year... hint hint.......
This book will make a perfect gift, buy several!

This is a super fun read for any young Cryptozoologists. A Christmas book about the Mountain State's biggest celebrity that can be read to the tune of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? Sign me up!
Shaffer has put together a fun story with super cute artwork. I got this book just a few days ago, and my toddler has had me read it to him upwards of 7 or 8 times! This book is a blast and definitely a must read for the holiday season, or really whenever, because Mothman is for all seasons.
This was so cute. I love a strange kids book. The pictures are adorable and the story will appeal to the adults reading it, as well. I can't wait to buy it for my nieces this holiday season (because I am absolutely that auntie).
Thank you for the EARC NetGalley & 8th Circle Press. I love a cryptid book and this one is adorable. I need to get this for my nephews so they can be as cool as their Auntie is. I especially loved BigFoots ugly sweater, so cute.
This is such a fun, wholesome children’s book. I love that the author is taking holiday classics and switching them up so the millennial cryptid moms and dads can enjoy creating new memories with their children,
The rhymes were good, close to Rudolph the red nose reindeer. The pictures were simple yet had enough to look at that even the wee ones will be entranced during the story. It had a great Q&A in the back that I also very much appreciated. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. (I’ll be buying this for my friend’s children!)
I have now learned what a cryptid is and even how to spell it. There really are scientists known as cryptozoologists. This simple, funny story led me to not only laugh but also to track down the film based on the book The Mothman Prophecies. However, despite how interesting this silly cryptid might be, you won’t find me attending the annual Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. I found it better to speak rather than sing the story to the tune of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Raindeer.
