Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Last Summer at the Lake House iby Heather Dixon starts out as a somber story surrounding the death of the patriarch of the family. Jess, Sam and Alex, three sisters who were once thick as thieves, meet up at the lake house to mourn the loss of their father. While helping their mother overcome her grief they discover a shocking secret that will carve a big hole through their close knit bond. Will they be able to overcome the anger and frustration to be able to deal constructively with their grief. The story takes you on a journey through the five stages of grief and how each person deals with it in their own way. I found the characters to be very likeable and I especially liked the introduction of the neighbour, Hunter. Overall a light family drama read that I would recommend to others.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was an ok book. The story itself was interesting and pulls you in to the family drama. Sisters trying to figure out their father’s past transgressions while also hiding them. A family coming together after a loss. The end of relationships and beginning of new ones. I also listened to the audiobook version as well.

Alex, Sam, and Jess return to the house their family spent their childhood summers growing up in after the death of their father. Gradually little by little their father’s secrets are revealed, forever changing their feelings about him.
Loved getting to know each of these sisters and as I sit here writing this review I realize that I cannot choose one of them as my favorite but grew to appreciate each of them for the way their unique personalities and backstories added to the complexity of this family drama. Having grown up with 2 sisters and having had three daughters of my own I know how two usually bond while the third is an observer. As the pairings frequently seem to fluctuate, each serves as a learning experience.
Heather Dixon’s writing brought these three sisters to life and I felt as if I was right in the room with them as they each reacted in their own personal way first to the letters and later to the results of Alex’s detective work.
A very enjoyable read. Many many thanks to Heather Dixon, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read an arc of this recently published book. Please keep writing Heather Dixon.

This is the first I have read of this author and I hope it won't be the last. Good novel with mystery around the family and their summers spent at the Lake House. Well worth 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it was a heavy topic, it didn't feel overwhelming or too sad. I enjoyed each of the sisters personality, and I liked the little bit of mystery thrown in there. I'll definitely be reading the next in the series.

This is a story of 3 sisters, Alex, Sam and Jess, who come together at the family summerhouse in Ireland on the death of their father. As they help and support their mother, they reminisce on their happy childhood, their great relationship with their father, and the idyllic summers in the house by the lake that they shared growing up. Alex finds some love letters that explode everything they thought they knew. Nothing about their childhood is as it seemed, and each sister has to confront what she thought she knew. Secrets will always be exposed in the end, lies will be uncovered, and the aftermath is devastating. This is a story about lies, betrayal, and the ties that bind a family together. We only ever know what someone wants us to see, and nothing is as it seems. This is a really well-written, powerful story that kept me reading from the first to the last page. I really enjoyed it, and recommend it.

The story of a family dealing with grief after the death of their husband and father. Alex, Sam & Jess are all grown up and are carving out their own lives when their father dies suddenly. When meeting up in the Lake house, secrets about his life come to the surface. All of the sisters deal with grief and the fallout about their father's secret life in their own way . The book deals with the mixture of emotions with which they are all going through and is told from the three sisters' points of view in turn as well as the relationships between them and other family members.
The writing deals with the different emotions well on the whole, though I would have liked to have heard from their mother's point of view too. Some issues did, however seem to be wrapped up too quickly . It is a good, interesting and engaging read.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Heather Dixon is a first time author for me. First few chapters I was undecided about this book, but then it grew on me to become a great read. Good characters, which made for an excellent read.

Wonderfully told family drama. There are secrets that one of the sisters has but also another will uncover a major family secret that will leave the sisters confused about their childhood and what they knew. I loved the family aspect of this book- there is drama, family secrets and hope. Three sisters are brought back together due to the death of their father. They are close but not as close as they used to be due to growing up and normal life things. The title and the book cover really pulled me in thinking I was getting some sweet summer romance. Nope, this one will pull at your heart strings but by end you’ll be put back together with a new set of family members. I really loved getting to know each of the three sisters and the experiences they went through during this tragic time. Many thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A sudden death, lies and secrets revealed, an unexpected surprise, family tensions, and resolutions. Dramas that play out in everyday life that affected a family. Characters that are realistic and draw the reader into their lives.

Last Summer at the Lake House by Heather Dixon kept me turning the pages. A few tears fell at the family's struggles. The inner strength of each character and resolutions of their struggles turned this book into one that I would read again. A copy was provided for my review, but all opinions are my own.

There is something so special between the bond of sisters.

I will admit it, it was the title that pulled me in, I love all "summery" themed books, throw in some family drama and I knew this would be a breath of fresh air given my love for shrieks, shrills, and screams.

ehhhh... I should have known this content would be heavy in its own way.

This one got to me. It pulled at every heart string I own. I laughed, I cried, I hugged my pillow....

I called my sister as soon as I concluded.

Check out this teaser :

After the death of their beloved father, three sisters return to their family lake house. As they sort through his precious belongings, they find a crumpled pile of letters and unearth a devastating secret…

Eldest sister Alex discovers the stash of love letters by accident, hidden away in the shed beside the lake where they used to play as children during long, hot summer vacations. She knows the handwriting isn’t her mother’s, and it’s clear the notes were written when she and her sisters were kids. She adored her father. But she just has to know who wrote these notes. Why don’t her sisters want to know the truth too?

As each sister deals with their grief and tries to protect their mother from more trauma, tensions rise in the lake house. Even under one roof, sharing a room just as they used to as children, the three women have never felt so isolated from one another.

When Alex makes a shocking discovery about her father’s affair, the true scale of their father’s deception is revealed.

Can Alex hold onto the family life she thought she had, and held so dear, if everything she ever knew was a lie?

I loved everything about this book. I love all things dinner and since it still feels like sinner instead of fall here in PA I loved it even more. I felt like I was there going through all of the many emotions of each character. Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to enjoy this!

I struggled to enjoy this book as much as I'm sure some others will. It's not badly written but I found the characters predictable and I finished the book more through effort than being compelled to find out what happened.

When their father dies suddenly, the three London sisters rally around their mom at the summer lake house.

When Alex the oldest sister finds letters from another woman hidden in their father's shed, the women are shocked. And the surprises don't end there.

A touching story of family, love, heartbreak and betrayal. Some of the revelations are a little too convenient and unbelievable at times. That's okay with me. I read for fun, not for reality.

I enjoyed the story but wasn't blown away. Sometimes that's just what I'm looking for.

Thanks to netgalley and Storm Publishing for the arc.

This was an intriguing story about three sisters, their mom, and a secret kept for decades. But more than that it was about them becoming their most authentic selves and loving each other along the way.

I loved the way they interacted and their stories unfolded. Hearing the story from each of the sisters' perspectives was interesting. I struggled with the opening premise of a death that brought them together. It seemed like the story lacked the grief needed to be true to that storyline. However, everything else was good and kept me engaged.
