“I love you but I feel so broken.
I can’t break myself to build you anymore.”
This book 😭
It was so easy to relate to real life and the trials and tribulations of life and relationships/marriage. There was so much good advice within these pages, it was a breath of fresh air. Some stuff really made me reevaluate my own marriage and that’s pretty special to take from a fiction novel.
I don’t typically read marriage in trouble tropes but this was such an easy read. The only thing I didn’t love was the format. I didn’t like all the italicizing and the repetitive thoughts. It didn’t take away from the story by any means but I just felt like it could have been left out or formatted differently.
I really enjoyed all of the side characters, there was a lot of thought and detail put into them. Harvey was the star of this show, I hope I can be like him when I’m old 😂
All in all, I really enjoyed this one. Definitely worth the read and I plan to read more from this author, as this was my first from her!
This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I was excited to give her a try. I love books that take place on vacation, at a lake house because it reminds me of my youth and going to my family's lake house. I found it hard to connect with this book. I found Lauren very unlikeable and selfish and she wonders why her husband doesn't want anything to do with her. Her husband, Jack owns a small business (mechanic shop) and has made it possible for Lauren to do what she wanted, which was to be a stay at home mom. I have kids, so I understand the dynamics of being a stay at home parent as well as being a working parent. I think Jack was too good for Lauren, unfortunately, he loved Lauren and didn't want to get a divorce. I think a lot of Lauren's issues with her relationship with Jack could have been solved if she went to therapy and worked on communicating with him with an open mind instead of a defensive mind. This is a short book at only 266 pages, however, I found myself taking forever to get through it. I loved the kids and their ploy to get their parents to the lake house, and I also loved Jack's dad and the owner of the Cupboard (I forgot her name now). I think everyone was too good to Lauren and she probably deserved to be miserable. I ended up DNF this book at 60% because I couldn't stand her. This book had potential, but with it being so short, I wished the passing was a little bit faster to keep me engaged, even through I hated the FMC.

Arc Review (thank you so much for the opportunity to read and review this!):
I don't even know where to start. I laughed and cried throughout this whole book. Let me preface this with: I'm about to be 35, I've been married for almost 10 years and I'm a (working) mom. Reading this with all those different hats on hit my heart on a level I didn't know existed. The main characters are in their early 40s, married for 20 years and have children (teenagers). I resonated heavily with a lot of the discussions and feelings in this story. It was beautifully done.
Jack and Lauren don't have a perfect marriage and it's so relatable and real. Their struggles felt like so much like the same struggles every relationship has at some point. The feeling of not being seen or heard, and the ebb and flow of the balance of life or the lack there of was so spot on. I adored their kids and seeing their personalities shine on page. Harvey is a gem and made me think of my own grandfather more than once. This family is just so dang special. As someone from Ohio, I wish I could visit the charming Story Brooks!
Nothing But It All is definitely going to be a favorite of the year and probably reread more times than I care to admit.
This book was not what I was expecting (I never read book descriptions, I enjoy going in blind) but it was absolutely. This story resonated with me so deeply, I literally read parts out loud to my husband.
I always read the love stories with the meet cutes and the beginning of relationships. However, Michael and Maddie give an amazing view into what life looks like after that sweet HEA. When they’ve grown and matured together and know each other inside and out but you also somehow lost touch with one another and don’t really know each other at all.
I cried more than I planned and but my heart melted just as many times along the way. While the main theme of this book was definitely heavy there were still many laughs, antics from meddling teens and a sweet little town that I would love to visit myself. This is the book was exactly what I needed to read right now in my life and I will be shouting from the rooftops how this is such an amazing, must read book!
This was my first marriage in crises as well as my first Adriana Locke book.
I think the marriage of convenience trope should be done more often because we really don't see it much.
I found myself enjoying that this book showcases real relationships and the struggles marriages can face. While I know we read to escape reality I can appreciate when reality (for the most part) can show in books.
I loved Jack and Laurens teenage kids Michael and Maddie. The way these two schemed in the book was exactly what teenage siblings would do and I was here for it. Harvey (Jack's dad) was a hoot and he was hilarious in his interactions with the family.
I appreciated Jack and Lauren finally communicating with what all went wrong and how to move forward. I honestly felt more for Jack in a way because the man was truly clueless and was doing everything he "thought" Lauren wanted from him. There were times when I was frustrated with the FMC Lauren in this book but I had to take a step back and realize all the emotions she was going through and how it is hard in situations like this to communicate what you are feeling with someone you love.
I will read more of Adriana Locke's books in the future.
Thank you Valentine PR for the ARC for my honest opinion.
I enjoyed reading this second chance romance. Laura and Jack were a sweet couple who lost their way in their journey. Was nice to see them re-connect. Love all Adriana stories. Love the banter and side characters. Especially Jack’s dad!
A different take on a second chance romance. Married couple on the brink of divorce but the kids intervene. Sweet and a neat idea. I love the world that Adriana always creates, but I think I wanted just a touch more in the romance department
This is a special book and you can tell from the first pages. Normally when I write reviews I have to look up names to make sure I remember what they are but with this one, I didn't do that. It's just been floating around in my head.
What Jack and Lauren Reed go thru in this book is something I truly believe every married couple go thru. You get so busy with jobs, kids and forget what really important in life. In Jack's case, he owns his business and gets wrapped up in that. He gets lost in that and almost loses the most important person in his life.
Lauren, on the other hand, is a stay at home mom. She does everything for her kids. Gets them to every activity they do and is running herself ragged. She's lonely and doesn't know what happened to their lives.
A parent trap happens and that's when things get real. The ups and downs of marriage are real. You have to be open with the communication and put in the effort. This book shows what Jack and Lauren do when they are fighting for their marriage. It hit so hard with me cause I have been there with my own. I will say that tears came out several times throughout reading this book. This book will stick with me for some time cause it's real and raw. The characters are fun, real and make the book so so good!! You will absolutely love Jack, Lauren, Maddie, Michael, Harvey and all the other ones in quirky small town.
Thank you Montlake, Adriana Locke, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for my review.
My first Adriana Locke book that I read (Flirt I believe) was a big fave of mine so when j saw the opportunity to read another book of hers, I was excited. I went into it blind, not even sure I read the description and I was surprised to find myself reading a marriage fixing book. Recently ending my own marriage, it was an odd choice for me, but I decided to read it anyway.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and watching Lauren and Jack heal hero broken marriage. My only struggle was that it just felt like a story where not much happened. There was their kids and their grandpa scheming, which was cute, the addition of the surprise dog I loved, but there wasn’t as much of that extra oomph that made me love the book, story, the love story of Lauren and Jack. It felt more like a true story than a book where two people grow apart and find their way back to each other. While this was as not my favorite book, I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading more or Adriana’s work!
A beautiful story about a couples crumpling marriage and their fight to save it (with a little scheming from their kids). The characters were great and had a-lot of dimension and the romance was well written. You could feel all the emotions of each character.
Jack and Lauren have been married for over 20 years and have begun to live separate lives. Jacks too focused on work and Lauren is forced to pick up everything and feels lonely. Deciding to take charge of her life, Lauren starts to live life for herself - while her husband has no idea how bad it is. Their two teenage children along with grandpa conspire to bring them back together during a family vacation.
You can see how each choice the couple has made can bring resentment and issues when there is no real communication. I could relate so much to Lauren and this book gave me little ideas to bring into my marriage. Honestly every married person should read this book.
The characters, storyline and writing made this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read. I would highly recommend this book.
I truly think this could be a case of right book, wrong time. Or my expectations being too high.
To start with, I love Adriana's books - she has such a talent at crafting complex characters and mixing them with fun storylines. The family dynamics in this were really cool, and I thought the side characters were done really well! It defo needed more to really hit home for a second chance/potential divorce book - considering the tropes, I do think the romance lacked the tension and deep development that would've made the happy ending feel earned. I was gearing up for an emotional rollercoaster, but it ended up just being a fun read.
i honestly wasn’t a fan of the marriage in crisis trope .. ): i thought that this would be something that i really liked but i just found myself anxious the whole time and not really enjoying it . i love adriana’s writing but this trope just isn’t for me .
Bring on a marriage in trouble romance with older characters that just seal the deal. I don't typically read a lot of older characters, but this one was done to perfection!
A refreshing change from the usual billionaire love stories. This is a story about regular people. Jack owns an auto shop and Lauren is a stay-at-home wife and mother to their two children. With very realistic characters we join their story as their marriage is crumbling.
Despite the subject matter it isn't too angsty, in fact it's more of a masterclass in how to keep a marriage going.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author.
This is a marriage in crisis book that delivered big feelings. Our hero and heroine have been through the ups and downs of marriage. Loving big and losing big. Babies... Business building... Shifting priorities. Somewhere along the way they forgot to put themselves first.
I love that this couple's struggles weren't hidden because it made the story more real to me. How do you go from loving someone with all your might, to barely giving them the time of day? These two eventually figure it out, with the help of their kids, but it's a bit of a bitter battle until they reach their second HEA.
The one thing I didn't like is how oblivious the hero was. They practically weren't married, and yet he's shocked when the D word gets brought up
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a great quick read
I haven't read many marriage in crisis books and although miscommunication/lack of communication was the main issue for it, it wasn't frustrating (which often can be the case with miscommunication)
I liked that the kids and the grandad planned together to trick the parents into spending time together at their cabin
I feel like it didn't solely focus on the romance and more on the family bond and getting everyone to spend time together and to have open communication
- marriage in crisis
- forced proximity
- meddling family
This is a good book. The two main characters are Lauren and Jack. They are married. They have two children, a boy Michael, and a girl Maddie. They are having problems in their marriage. Jack is taking Michael and Lauren has Maddie for the day. They all land up in their vacation home. Lauren and Jack start working on their marriage, the find out that they are in love with one another.
Thank you to Valentine PR, Netgalley, the publishers Montlake, along with the author Adriana Locke for letting me read, along with review this advanced copy of Nothing But It All. This novel was a three star romance read, however truthfully I am not a big fan of marriage in trouble romance books. I still did read Nothing But It All from start to finish. This novels release date is Tuesday February 20th 2024.
Adriana Locke did not disappoint with this book. I read and listened to this book and could not put it down. With all the feels you happy sad and just want more. I cannot wait for anything else by Adriana Locke.
I had to take a minute and process this book. A second chance romance where the characters are just about still married and how they turn it around.
Lauren and Jack have been married for 20 years. She is thinking about divorce as she has no relationship with the man she had 2 children with and has no life outside of her children and their activities. Jack is seemingly oblivious to it all. He works hard and pays the bills but isn’t present in the lives of his wife or children.
With interfering children and their grandpa, Jack and Lauren find themselves thrown together and have the opportunity to talk and spend time to rekindle the spark.
I found this book very relatable to periods in my marriage when you forget you are part of a partnership not just paying the bills and being a driver for your children.
There were moments that pull on your heartstrings and laugh out loud moments as well which made this book a really enjoyable read.
Thanks to #Netgalley for the advanced copy of this story.
