This was a sweet and enjoyable story. We were told about the couple going their separate ways in recent years, and in a unexpected trip to the cabin the husband and wife both decide to rekindle their relationship and make the marriage work. I felt there was a lot of time spent on normal family events and a bit of drama with Jack's dad so we didn't get to spend as much time seeing this couple rediscover themselves. There were certainly parts of the story that resembled my own long-term marriage and parts that very emotional for me.
Lauren and Jack’s marriage had been in trouble for a while. Jack just didn’t realise how bad it was until their kids tricked them in to going away as a family. Life just seemed to have gotten in their way. Neither of them were bad people. There was no abuse, just neglect, on both their parts. It was so sad to see how far apart they had fallen. Jack thought he was building a good life for his family by building his business, but he forgot he needed to be present in their lives. Lauren felt lost and alone and stopped trying. I loved that their kids and Harvey tried to help them. Their trip to the cabin was full of all types of emotions, good and bad. I loved how realistic their issues were and that unlike a lot of real life marriages, they actually put in the work to make them better. This was a lovely, sweet read.
A beautiful story about imperfect marriages and 2nd chances.
This story was so relatable and really spoke to the power of family, communication and partnership. Jack and Lauren were so refreshing, actually. They felt so real and raw, they had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows; I appreciated their journey from being happy to struggling to brokenness and back to working on their marriage. They were inspiring. Fantastic writing skills, as always, by Adriana Locke!
Not really my cup of tea, but ultimately this was a cute story. Kids and grandparent scheme to get mom and dad back on the same page in their marriage.
Sweet second chance marriage in trouble romance , whilst the book is sweet and has amazing moment it still gives you the feels . You know that Jack and Lauren love each other they just don’t communicate well and are living more as roommate / friends than a husband and wife team, You know they really only want the best for each other and their family but can they learn to show that to each other again.
I’m a sucker for good side character in a book and this did not disappoint Harvey what a funny old man. Him and kids just give that extra dynamic that draws me into a book.
Marriage in trouble is quickly becoming one of my favorite tropes and this book did it so well. Nothing But It All is emotional, raw, honest, and beautiful. Jack and Lauren are falling apart slowly, with each conversation, touch and day their marriage is failing apart and the only ones who can save it is themselves. However, it takes pain, honesty, and introspection to figure out what’s going wrong on both sides and what can be done to prevent it.
The kids stepping in is so real and I loved that Adriana Locke showed that kids, especially teenagers aren’t blind when it comes to these things, and that we should want to show them how to be treated.
Jack and Lo have been married for 20 years but things haven't been so good lately. Luckily, their kids are determined to keep them together. But is that the issue- that their marriage is all about the kids and not each other? This is a nice novel about a family turning things around. It's got humor and heart. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.
I was so happy to see Adriana announce she was going to be writing a book about a couple whose marriage is in trouble. So many books on the market today only focus on people when they first meet, date and get married and then the book is over. This book focuses on what happens after twenty years of marriage.
There is so much in this story that is so spot on with what happens in a marriage. Way too often, the relationship between husband and wife gets pushed to the back burner because everything takes precedent - and in this case it was the kids, and Jack's business he's been building the past several years. Lauren feels so neglected and ignored by Jack that she's about ready to throw in the towel.
This story is quite emotional, and many times I sat back and reflected on things that I've dealt with in my own marriage and how the same problems plague so many.
I loved Harvey and the kids, and Mrs. Shaw and Snaps! There's a great group of people in this story.
It takes a lot of work to keep a marriage thriving, and Lauren and Jack learn throughout the story how much they've each been at fault, and what they need to do to fix things. It was heartwarming to see them finally come together on the same page and most importantly, want to fix things. Too often people take the easy way out and divorce, only to regret it later. And with Harvey and the kids concocting all kinds of schemes to keep Lauren and Jack together, the story left me with a huge smile on my face. A must read for everyone!
" This is the life I wanted. Jack beside me. Our two beautiful children asleep upstairs. A peace both outside and inside of both the cabin and me."
"When it all comes down, I'm sorry for putting you in a position where you think the only way you can be happy is to be without me "
Lauren and Jack Reeds have been married for over 20 years. Once, they were happy and madly in love everything was perfect but with time life and responsibilities got in the way and their life got complicated and they started to drift apart and living under the same roof like strangers.
However, their children were smart enough to send them a wake up call especially to their dad who had no idea that his marriage so bad and Lauren wanted a divorce so when they tricked their parents into spending 2 weeks at their cabin where they always spent the most amazing times, they can't run away from each other anymore and now the question is s, is it too late to save their marriage or is their still hope for them?
First time reading a marriage in trouble story and I loved it so much. We always end our stories with happily ever after BUT what comes next is the important thing how will they overcome life obstacles and everything in between? . That's why I enjoyed this book a lot coz the writer showed us what happens next the struggles and that marriage isn't easy but its a journey worth living.
She also tackled children - parents relationships and that added more depth to the story.
So in a nutshell, I loved every min in this book and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher Montlake for granting me an ARC of #NothingButItAll in exchange for my honest review.
Nothing But It All by Adriana Locke is a heartwarming exploration of a twenty-year marriage in trouble, skillfully blending romance, family dynamics, and second chances. Lauren and Jack, once deeply in love, now find themselves more like roommates until their teenagers, Michael and Maddie, conspire to bring them together for a family vacation. The scenic lakeside cabin in Story Brook, Ohio becomes the backdrop for a fourteen-day journey of hope, heartbreak, and unexpected possibilities. Locke's portrayal of the complexities of marriage and parenthood feels authentic, with relatable characters navigating the challenges and rewards of long-lasting love. The novel beautifully captures the bittersweet nature of rediscovering love, and while maintaining a light and humorous tone, it evokes a range of emotions. Nothing But It All stands out as a captivating and heartwarming second-chance love story, leaving readers with a sense of hope and belief in enduring love.
Thank you to Montlake, NetGalley, and Adriana Locke for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I am slowly learning that I honestly love the marriage in crisis trope. I just feel like, when done right, it can truly deliver on all the emotions. Adriana Locke absolutely knocked it out of the park here. I honestly felt myself rooting for and understanding both Jack and Lauren’s side. These were two people who truly loved one another, but had let themselves get so lost in their lives that they didn’t know where to go. I loved the dynamic of teenage children and how that played into the murky waters of the family dynamic. You could honestly feel the love between all the individuals in this family, even though there were so many obstacles standing in the way of reconciliation. I loved the communication and honest conversations that were had. It wasn’t always easy, and there were definitely ups and downs. It wasn’t a smooth transition or a complete 180 change, because that isn’t how real life is. It was a choice every day to wake up and try to fix your marriage because, even though you may not need someone in your life, you WANT them there. I laughed, I cried, and everything in between. I loved this book!
Lauren and Jack Reed's marriage has been cracking for years, and now it finally seems to be shattered beyond repair. Lauren feels like the only answer to her being able to move forward with her life and her business is through divorce. Unfortunately, or fortunately, for her, the kids and her father-in-law have other ideas and are colluding. One last family holiday to their lakeside cabin for fourteen days, but is fourteen days enough time to mend the decade-long fractures in a marriage?
What an epic story about love, devotion, family and the nuances between growing together and apart. There was so much every day beauty in this book. The story and the emotions were so real and relatable. This is the type of love story that is real love, the nitty gritty type that you have to work for to last a lifetime. How people can love one another, but be blinded to and emotionally injure one another at the same time. The family dynamics were complex, as they are with every family. Adriana Locke has created something magical with this book.
I loved everything about this novel. The writing was amazing and emotional, the plot was intricate and heart-wrenching, and the characters were perfectly ordinary. I went through so many emotions in this book. None of the characters were perfect, but the author did such a great job of putting you in their minds - you could feel what they were feeling. I cried, laughed yelled and cheered. I was so invested in these characters and their journeys that I didn't want it to end. That ending, when it came, though was amazing and left you feeling satisfied.
I honestly do not have much to say against this book. I would only say that maybe if you are going through or have gone through a divorce that was very difficult for you, then you may not want to read this book at this time in your life. Other than that I have nothing bad to say.
Nothing But It All is a 5 star book for me, meaning that I cannot think of a single thing I would change. I could not put this down and went through the full emotional juggernaut. This is my first book by Adriana Locke, but it certainly will not be my last. Captivating from start to finish!
I really enjoyed this book, it made me cry. I really love the marriage in crisis trope but there's so little around usually we just get to see the romance build and then their HEA and an epilogue in a book and that's it but this gave a look into what happens after the book ends. Do they live happily ever after? How do they overcome their problems? What happens when they have kids and their lives get busier? I loved how throughout the book even with all the problems you still felt how much Lauren and Jack loved eachother so it made me root for them to get back together even more. I liked the added aspect of the teenage children and the Grandpa working together to get Lauren and Jack back together. I read this book months ago and I still think about it now and I've even gone on to start reading Adriana Locke's back catalogue, thank you to NetGalley for the arc.
Have you read Adriana Locke, if not you should! This book was a wonderful read.
This story is about Lauren and Jack about to end their 20 year marriage. Thanks so to their meddling teenage children and father law they embark on one last family trip together. With NO SPOILERS ahead, you really should go grab this book.
This book is easy to devour. I felt it was so relatable, engaging and so many heartwarming moments.
I would recommend this book to any reader.

Nothing But It All is a marriage on the rocks story that I think was phenomenally done. I've read very few second chance stories of this nature and I quite enjoyed it. I think the author did a great job of showcasing the love that was very much present between the hero and heroine, Jack and Lauren as well as all the resentment, anger and all the other things that accumulated over the years that muffled it. One of the things I was most looking forward to was how they'd find their way back to each other. I liked the way it was done, it felt very true to life. Nothing But It All was a good read filled lighthearted moments, rough patches, funny moments and so much more. I definitely recommend it.
A good "grown up" romance!
In a world full of everyone being young and small town, this was a nice change for the more mature audience, ahem, us 40 year olds. ;)
I adored this story. So real, so everyday, it could be about anyone you know, or even yourself. It was unusual to read an Adriana Locke book that didn't include 5 or 6 kids, because she's so known for her big, loud, messy families. Just because there were only 2 kids here, didn't make it any less. It's not often I read a romance woth the couple already married, but I always enjoy them. I loved this. It's almost a cautionary tale of what not to do, and how to fix it if you end up in trouble. Again, this family just felt so real, I loved it
A perfect book to start 2024!
I really loved it. Jack and Lauren… married for 20 years and struggling to connect. This book is like a manual and reminder for life to stay present with your spouse. With all the craziness that goes on to remember why you got married and fell in love.
Adriana Locke writes another incredible, real life book. When Jack and Lauren’s kids realize how bad their parents relationship is, they turn to their grandfather and they come up with a plan to put them all together.
I loved Jack’s POV. From a man’s side who’s trying to take care of his family but missing life. Lauren is just a woman and mom… managing it all.
Tons of highlights…. But here’s the biggest reminder… Communication is key to all aspects of our lives!
“Guess so. It’s ironic, isn’t it? We’re all trying to protect each other while we fall apart. When, in reality, if we would’ve just opened up about it all, we could’ve helped each other.” “This family has major communication issues.”
Adding it to top 2024 reads because it’s just an amazing reminder of the simple things in life and to communicate and love hard…. Even in hard times!
When it comes to romance novels, we always hear about the character's journey getting together, but we rarely get to experience what happens after they get their happily ever after. Now, I don't read a lot of marriage-in-trouble romances, but this one really hit me with all the feels.
After 20 years of marriage, Lauren is starting to question everything. Lauren and her husband Jack, have become more like roommates than anything else, but their kids are the glue that holds them together. And while Lauren is desperate for a change, poor Jack couldn't be more clueless about what's happening around him. As Lauren prepares for the inevitable next step, her kids decide to step in and plot to bring their family back together for one last family vacation. What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing But It All pulled me in from the very first page. Lauren and Jack's story was filled with so much emotion and definitely pulled on my heartstrings. You could tell that despite all of their issues, the chemistry and connection were still there, but Jack was going to have to really put in the work if he wanted to save his marriage. And with a little help from his father and meddling teens, Jack just might have a chance.
If you're a fan of marriage-in-trouble, second-chance romances with parent-trap vibes, you are not going to want to miss, Nothing But It All.
I have to say ! this book isn’t your typical Adriana book, I had a hard time starting this book, I started it more than once , but once I caught my stride I enjoyed it .
Lauren and Jack headed for divorce until their kids Maddie and Michael decide to, with the help of their grandfather parent trap them into a family trip .
Very cute story , not my most favorite Adriana book but I did enjoy it
