Adriana Locke has been an auto buy author for me for years. Marriage in trouble books are not my favorite at all but this one was pretty good. I don’t think I’ve read characters so real like Lauren and Jack in a long time. They’ve been married for 20 years and have made a beautiful life together but as their kids get older it’s been harder for them. This book gave the most perfect Parent Trap vibes. Michael & Maddie scheme together through out this whole book especially when Harvey is involved. The way that Michael is protective of Maddie reminds me and me and my brother and I love the vibes. There were points where I was frustrated but it just showed how real everything about this was. This HEA was wrapped up nicely and actually seemed realistic much like the rest of this book! 4/5 ⭐️

“My life may not be perfect. My marriage certainly isn’t. But my life with these people, with Jack and Harvey, is infinitely better than my life would be without them. I don’t need them—I’ve proven that. But I want them”.

This was like the perfect child of the Parent Trap meets The Divorce.

It was a book about putting yourself first after experiencing pain and yet still having the courage to go after love.

Jack has a rude awakening when he realizes that his wife, Lauren, is planning to ask for a divorce. It is not like Lauren does not have good reasons to go for it, instead, we have two MCs who have not been honest or intimate with each other for years.

It was clear Jack had started taking Lauren for granted, and it was really sweet to see them work on their marriage and save it. The mature conversations and the angsty bits made the book so much better in my eyes.

Also have to give props to Mads and Michael for never losing faith in the love that their parents had for each other, from orchestrating their retreat to Story Brook to abandoning them both on a boat.

The side characters were all superb and perfectly carved out for this marriage in trouble book. Even Snap the Dog was so loveable.

It was not just a love story it's a small-town story about the life we all live which made the HEA much sweeter. It dealt with themes such as the death of loved ones, realizing your faults, and working towards personal growth.

First time reading this author and I can tell you that it wont be the last. Nothing but it All is about togetherness and how families reach out to each. Its also about never giving up. The characters in this book come to life and will stay with you long after you close the book. I found this book to be quick read and a touching story about love, loyalty, and togetherness. Read it when you dont have anything to do...because I promise you wont put it down until you read the last page.

This book is wonderfully real and touching. I think anyone that’s been married awhile will see glimpses of their own lives in this book. It’s a reminder to appreciate your partner, listen to each other and don’t take them for granted.

Oh my goodness...THIS BOOK!!! Adriana Locke is absolutely amazing. She is hands down one of my favorite authors.
Lauren and Jack's story is so relatable, whether you're a stay at home mom like Lauren or maybe married a couple decades and just feel like you're more roommates with your husband then lovers. It shows how lack of and mis-communication damages your relationship. What true love and fighting for that love is all about. It's a heart wrenching and heart warming story. It will have you on a roller coaster of emotions but I promise you will LOVE IT!

Thank you to Adriana Locke, Montlake and Netgalley for this ARC!

I love a good reconciliation story, especially when it has to do with two people who have been married to each other for several years. There's just something so heart-wrenchingly beautiful about seeing two people fall back in love with each other. And boy, did this book deliver!

I loved both Lauren and Jack equally. They'd gone from two people who were disgustingly in love to not more than just roommates over the span of their twenty years together, and at the start of the story, they'd just acknowledged that the status quo just wasn't cutting it.

At the beginning of the story, it seemed like the fault was primarily in Jack's hands. He'd become more-or-less a workaholic who'd taken Lauren for granted. He took care of making the dough to support their family, but Lauren basically did everything else for the family, and she had no life outside of taking care of her family.

Enter Michael and Maddie, they're meddlesome, yet adorable teenagers. After sensing the cracks in their parents' marriage, they conspire with their grandfather and concoct a plan to "Parent Trap" Lauren and Jack into spending two weeks in Story Brook, a.k.a. their favorite Summer getaway.

It is in Story Brook that Lauren and Jack finally take the time to unpack the little facets of their marriage and its downfall and try to figure out where things went wrong. What I loved was how neither of them wanted their marriage to end. While Lauren felt like the only way through was out, she never truly wanted out of their marriage.

As they painstakingly dissect the little things that went wrong, Lauren learns that she, too, is also to blame for what's happened to them. Amidst tearful confessions and difficult conversations, Lauren and Jack begin to find their way back to each other.

Michael and Maggie are relentless in their quest to make their parents fall back in love with each other, even abandoning them on a boat, but none of it is malicious. In fact, Michael does confess at some point that all he wants it for them to give it one more chance.

What I absolutely loved about this story was the maturity of the characters. It was incredibly realistic and handled so well. While Lauren and Jack sometimes made assumptions about the other, they fought with and for each other until they got to the root of each problem. They resolved their conflicts through mature conversations and a newfound understanding of the other person's needs.

This is hands down one of my favorite marriage reconciliation romances ever!

I don’t always like to read the marriage in trouble trope because it can be heartbreaking and sad but Adriana Locke is a one-click author for me and I trusted (rightfully so) that she would bring me a heartfelt, emotional, relatable romance and still provide the HEA that I crave. The characters in this story are very relatable indeed (almost too relatable) and the storyline hits very close to home with me. Jack is a blue-collar worker who in trying to provide a life for his family unintentionally removed himself from it. Lauren (Lo) is a stay at home mom who, while trying to build and support the lives of the rest of her family, lost herself and her own identity. This romance explores love in all stages of life but focuses mainly on the emotions, challenges and complexities that Jack and Lo face with maintaining a loving long term relationship and marriage of 20 years. During their “watershed moments” of growth and change, Jack and Lauren both have moments of self-discovery and self-awareness and must decide if they want their marriage enough to fight for it. In the end, they realize that marriage isn’t perfect; that what they each bring to the other’s life is better than anything else out there and that they’d much rather have imperfection with each other than perfection with someone else. This book is not overly spicy but it is beautiful and real and I would recommend giving it a read.

A heartwarming while still anguishing story about a married couple on the brink of divorce and the long journey back to each other.

Jack (MMC): blue-collar auto shop owner who works hard to provide for his family but at the sacrifice of his marriage

Lauren (Lo) (FMC): stay at home mom who puts everyone first even at the sacrifice of putting herself and her marriage last

Rating: 🐶🐶🐶🐶 (4⭐️) (Snaps stole the scene anytime he was on page and he deserved special recognition)
Spice: 🌶️
T/W: parent death (in past and reference on page), divorce (reference on page), cancer (reference on page)

After 20 years of marriage, Jack and Lauren are struggling. Feeling more like roommates adrift, their kids (teenagers) and grandfather (Jack's dad) arrange a family vacation at a lakeside cabin in the woods. This story is full of family dynamics, self discovery, marriage challenges, and heart. While I did enjoy this story, I did wish we saw the couple together more. One big contention in their marriage was lack of intimacy and I feel it was a big miss to not give a little more of it on page. Overall, a great read with heartbreaking and beautiful moments. No one writes a small town, blue-collar story like Adriana Locke.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

After 20 yrs of marriage, Lauren and Jack wants a divorce. Their kids don't want them to get a divorce and conspired with their grandfather for a summer vacation with everyone together.

It's angsty, emotional, heartwarming and sweet. I love Lauren and Jack. They are human but very likable. Lots of touching and sweet moments.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I really wanted to love this, because marriage in trouble romances are so hard to find and they are one of my favorite tropes. I just couldn’t get past Locke’s writing style, italicizing every thought and bringing up conversations from last night when it could have just as easily been written that way a chapter beforehand. It really took away from the story she was trying to tell.

I LOVED THIS! marriage in trouble is probably one of my favorite tropes ever! jack and lauren were so real, they are going through a tough time in their marriage but they still have the soulmates vibes going on for them!

I loved how they dealt with their problems, the side characters and especially the ending. This book made me weep a little which is always just a bonus in my books!
