I wasn't sure about this book at first as I didn't really like Brody as he had wasted his fortune rather than his family leaving him it that way. However it is an amusing story in the saga of three Dukes and their romance book did have me chuckling. It is a some what unlikely premise but if you can get past that it is different and fun. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so far fetched that I had a hard time finishing it. I wouldn't say I didn't like it but there were a few cringey scenes that made me not want to finish it.

The Duke goes incognito to a printing press to slip his book in to be approved. The typesetter is the quickest he has ever seen but he is a she.
The only part of this book I did not enjoy was the flirtation with homoseuality. I rubbed me a little wrong which is why I am giving it 4 stars. This book is well written although the end skips around a bit. Its still a good book. I did like how the classes intermingled and the duke was accepting of all.
In exchange for my honest opinion I received a free copy

I enjoyed reading Harriet’s and Brody’s romance. There were sections that made me chuckle, especially the parts when he thought she was a man. I felt that the story developed well and the ending that introduced the next book in a fluent manner. I will definitely be reading the next book.

A cute romance between Harry Michaels, who is working at a publishing company to earn money to support her sister, Lucy and Brody Evans, the Duke of Corwin, who obtains a job at Harry's employer as an editor. Brody does not use his title to obtain the position. After several interactions with Harry, Brody is caught off guard by his attraction to Harry and as much as he tries to fight it, he finds himself falling in love with him. I was so fascinated to read how the author would develop the attraction between Harry and Brody and I wasn't disappointed. A quick read that I couldn't put down until I had finished the story.

This is book 2 in the "Gentleman Authors" series. It can be read as a stand alone but is so much better if read in connection with book 1.
We do meet our two main characters in book 1. Harry(Short for Harriet) is forced from her home when her father died and must provide for her sister ,Lucy. In order to make enough money, she dresses as a man and calls herself Harry
Brody, the Duke of Corwin, was getting more and more worried about his financial situation. If they didn't sell their book soon, he was going to have to take drastic measures. As he's walking through the area where they publish books, he sees a job posted outside for an assistant editor. It require him to go through and read manuscripts to see if any catch his attention. This may be a way to get his book introduced.
This is where he and Harry meet. She works in the printing room setting type. Of course in her personna as Harry, Brody cannot understand why he has an attraction to Harry.
But all is eventually revealed when Lucy and Harry get sick and Brody takes them home to take care of them.
I enjoyed this book. It slowed nicely. I liked both characters and felt their connection from the beginning. I can't wait for book 3. Also I hope Finn gets his own story.
I want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Definitely my favourite as of right now. I enjoyed it more than a first part in the series, and I think it is because I just love awkward misunderstandings hahaha

All I can think of is movie “She’s the man”. If you liked the movie you will definitely like this story.

And to top it, the plot and the setting of the book at the moment is very close to my heart. I sympathise with the characters a lot. Publishing business ain’t easy!

I can’t wait for the next part. I feel like the sparks will be flying! :D

WOW! Great Storyline!

I love the way they both had their own secret identities with the banter and witty moments making it a real gem of a read.

Yes he was a Duke and forced to find a job. Getting a job at a publishers was the perfect place he could to try to get the book he had co written with his two best friends published and help to get them all out of debt.

Harriet was trying the best she could to look after and support her younger sister so went undercover as a boy to earn extra money.

Wonderful friends to lovers romance and when Harriet needed help, Brody stepped in to save the day,
A page-turning read I couldn’t put down!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved reading the awesome and amazing story. When Harriett dressed as a young man, Harry, and meets Brody, she starts to have feelings for him but knows that nothing can come of it. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting must read romance story. Can't wait to read the next story in the series by the fabulous author, Sophie Barnes.

Dual secret identities....

Wow. Maybe I should dress up as a dude? Cuz as Mr. Harry Michaels is pursued by both men and women. While as Miss Harriett Michaels, she's plain, poor, highly skilled and can pass as a young man.

I didn't like Brody at first. He is a duke who wasted his fortune, kept a mistress for three years and only at the start of this book did he dismiss his mistress as he booted her in a week to sell the house he kept her in. Ew. He did grow on me as his fascination with Harry Michaels grows. He's a duke in disguise, working as an assistant editor to get his manuscript he wrote with two other dukes sold for money. They all frittered their fortunes away.

I ended up very much enjoying this book and read it in one go. They both have secret identites, Brody as a duke, Harry as a woman. They both have younger siblings they are raising (or in Brody's case, rescuing from idiotic behaviors) and they are both working in the same field.
Recommend.

The second in the series but can definitely be read as a standalone. I loved the first one and this one doesn't disappoint. A real twist on the usual historical romance, the chemistry and compassion between the two main characters was beautiful and well put. I loved the setting in a publishers and the twists kept it so fresh.

A fun story of mistaken identity and possible change in lifestyles.
Harry (Harriet) dresses and works as a boy to care for her sister.
Boyd is a Duke who has squandered his inheritance, writes a story, and takes a job. The two of them meet at work and they come together as friends.
His angst over the circumstances is truly different.
Lots of banter among characters makes this an easy read.
Second book in a series worth reading.

A Duke's Introduction to Courtship by Sophie Barnes is the second book in the series The Gentleman Authors.

An impoverished Duke who is trying to regain the fortune he mismanaged after the grief of losing his father. Brody Evans, Duke of Corwin, does the unthinkable. He finds a job. It's a means to an end. And unexpectedly puts Mr. Harry Michaels into Brody's path. Concerned when he is drawn to the young man who works at the print shop and willing to chance it all, when secrets are revealed.

Harriet Michaels did what she must to keep the care of her sister. Even if it meant donning pants and losing her identity as a woman. She's happy with her work and doesn't expect more until she can't stop thinking about the new coworker. And all is not as it seems and not only from her.

This book is refreshing spin on secret identity and the challenges of being a woman during this time period. It was also an interesting glimpse into the working of printing. It is somewhat ironic to be reading about it on an eReader.

I need myself a Brody Evans, Duke of Corwin. The instant attraction between the two makes your body melt and just an instant swoon. Love the entire book, and broke all barriers of standard love. One of my favorite books and my added list to my TBRL.

10/10

Thank you NetGalley. This is the second book in this series. Three dukes who have lost their money as their fathers were all died in an accident at once. They have written a book together. Now they are ready to publish it. The Duke of Corwin comes across a job for a dissident to the publisher. Though it won't get them the money they need right away maybe he can get the book published. he sneaks the book in with the others he is reading and the publisher loves it.
He meets Harry who works in the printing room and finds he is greatly attracted to him. Harry is really Harriet who has been supporting her sister. Lucy becomes very ill and Brody takes them home to help with Lucy. Everyone has been sure Harry is a man and treats him as such. Brody finds out the truth as does the publisher and she is so good at her job he wants to keep her. Lots of humor as well as romance.

Another amusing story in the saga of three Dukes who happen to be best friends, in financial straits and co-authors in a romance book. Brody, the Duke of Corwin happens to seem a help wanted sign in the window of a publisher for an assistant editor. Thinking that this may just be his lucky day and a way to get their novel published he accepts the job as Mr. Evans. Meeting the rest of the staff he is drawn to Harry Michaels, the young man who is the composer. This completely confuses him, he loves women, adores them. So how can he accept this attraction he has for Harry.
Harriet has tried several different jobs to support herself and her little sister. Gentry that was shown out the door at the age of 16. Discovering that dress as a lad she can get a better paying job and it is safer dressed that way. Two years and no problems till she meets the new employee and there is such a strong attraction, but she is acting the part of a man and that is wrong on so many accounts.
A fun fast read, love the doubts that has Brody all confused. The continuing question of the novel and the HEA. One more Duke to go. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #ADukesIntroductionToCourtship #SophieBarnes

Harriet, aka Harry, is masquerading as a man to gain better employment and thus better support herself and her younger sister, left destitute by their parents' passings. Brody is a duke who fittered away much of his estate and fortune and his younger brother continues to do so. Trying to get a romance novel he and his equally broke dukely friends wrote together published, he takes a job at the same print shop at which Harriet works so he can use his influence to get their novel considered. Brody and Harriet share an immediate spark - alarming to Brody as he has never before been attracted to another man. Interestingly, Brody is willing to go with it, and their first romantic encounter actually happens before Brody learns that Harry is indeed Harriet. Brody does not struggle nearly as much as I would have expected an aristocratic male in that time period would have struggled with not only feeling but acting on a same sex attraction. But you also want to give him credit for being open-minded.

Harriet is a lovely character, smart and resourceful and willing to do what it takes to care for her sister. She is also very young, only 18. She doesn't know what to do with or about her attraction to Brody, and she is torn between the desire to confess all and the desire to protect herself and her sister.

Bad seafood takes all the choices away from her. Through a confluence of events, Harriet's secret is widely revealed and she ends up engaged to Brody. And from there it feels like her prior life simply gets erased away. I struggled with the attempt to juxtapose a woman who was clearly able to take care of herself still somehow needing a man to make everything fully right/okay. This book also continues the incongruous idea of three men who have never written before coming together to produce the next "Pride and Prejudice".

I have read a number of books by this author and have really enjoyed some while others were more of a miss. This book falls closer to the miss people for me.

2.5 stars rounded to three. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

This is quite the compelling read! It is a fast pace on the edge of your seat page-turner! The story line is riveting, well thought out, well written, and consistent. Lots of action, drama, twists, and other heart-racing adventure to look forward to in this story. You will fall in love with the characters; their chemistry is intense, instant, and undeniable!

I have been looking forward to learning more about Harriet since we met her in the book 1. Once you realize that she and Brody will be working together and seeing a lot of each other you know it is only a matter of time before he discovers her secret. I liked that he didn't just give a sigh of relief and act like it didn't matter - I also liked that he didn't stay mad at her for too long. And I loved that it was his brother who talked some sense into him. It was just a really nice (and much needed) moment between the brothers. I enjoyed getting to see Lucy's excitement in the changes that were occurring in her life - after how tough things had been for her and Harriet it was just nice to see. Two of my favorite parts were `1) when Brody confronted Anthony after discovering Harriet's secret and 2) when Brody's mother returned and basically took over everything regarding the wedding. They were two very much needed lighter moments in the story. After getting a little sneak peek at the final book for the series I can't wait to find out more about Emily and Callum! And to find out if their book (which I would love for Sophie Barnes to actually write/publish) is a success!

Brody is an impoverished duke who has secretly written a romance novel with two of his friends, but is strapped for immediate cash when a debt collector comes calling for his younger brother’s debts. While out for a walk, he happens across a job opening at a print shop and thinks that he’ll be able to collect a small bit of money while also sneaking in his own manuscript for consideration. While there, he runs into a young man who works as a compositor in the print shop and doesn’t know why he’s drawn to the lad. Harry is actually Harriet and dresses up as a young man to gain employment to care for herself and her younger sister. She has successfully maintained the disguise for several years, but her attraction for Brody might give her away. This book had a slow progression of friendship, caretaking, and a relatively low-angst romance. We also get to revisit the couple from Book 1 of the series, as both Brody and Harriet are friends with the duke and duchess, respectively.
