Thank you to Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to read this e-arc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved jumping back into the world of Maple Hills. It was really fun to be able to read more about characters from book 1 but also get to know more about Russ.
Poor little damages Russ is honestly book boyfriend marriage material and I loved everything about him. He was shy, a gentleman, has good morals, is really good in bed and has some parental trauma he's dealing with.
He meets and falls for Aurora, outgoing, confident, doesn't want a relationship, but it's all a facade while she also deals with parental trauma.
They have a one night half drunk stand, then to their surprise meet again at summer camp where they're both working.
From here, they become friends, they fall in love, they share their trauma and they navigate whatever us between them all while working full time.
I really loved the pace of this book, it became a bit slow in the middle with a lot of trauma dumps between the characters, but overall I never lost interest and always felt like I needed to read more.
The plot was interesting throughout and we see so much of what makes each of these characters uniquely suited for each other.
The writing was impeccable. The world building was easy to follow. Overall this was just a really fun read.
Slow burn. Strangers to friends to lovers. The most witty banter.
10/10 would recommend.
I’ve been waiting for this book since I’ve read Icebreaker. And it was so worth the wait!!!! I’m so thankful I’ve got an ARC for this book because I seriously loved every second of it. If you thought Nate was the ultimate golden retriever you’re going to be blown to pieces by Russ. From the second Russ and Rory meet the sparks go 🔥 🔥 they’re so extremely cute together I can’t deal with it.
At the beginning I thought there was going to be miscommunication and I hate that trope but then they go and have the best communication ever and I was 🥰 even the third act drama wasn’t that big of a deal because they fix it in a mature way and I AM INLOVE WITH THEM!!
I didn’t think Icebreaker could be toped but I was wrong. This is such a good read, fun, sexy. OH AND THE FOUND FAMILY HAD ME IN TEARS (of joy mostly) they’re all so adorable. I can’t wait for the rest of this series. Seriously.
This is definitely the sweetest book I've read this year!!!
I can't say enough of how cute this couple is and how they have nicest and kindest relationship ever.
First of all, I must say: FINALLY A BOOK ABOUT A GOALIE!!!! Even though we didn't have any games and only a few hockey related conversations, it was so nice to finally see a sports book where the main guy is actually the goalie. As a hockey book lover I was very positively suprised.
I was not expecting that this book was going to be about Russ at all! I could bet on Henry, JJ or Robbie even, but it was so nice to actually see Russ talking about what happened on "Icebreaker" and what lead us to the whole story behind book one, and how that personally affected.
Seeing both of them grow with each other, before even becoming a couple was so delicate, making us understand them as individuals first, see their challenges with their own families and watch them create the environment that works best for them, while having a strong support from one another throughout the time and then finally get together.
I liked how the author brought up two different scenarios of bad parenting, and how that affected each character. But for me, the best thing about the book is their relationship with their parents by the end of the story: seeing Russ growing back his relationship with his father, while Aurora simply doesn't want that (neither does her father), but does end up having a better relationship with her mother, is simply amazing. Hannah Grace was able to show that we can take many paths on our relationships with our parents, it'll all depend on what we want to have, and how reciprocal that will be.
This book was a MAJOR goal by Hannah, and I was so happy that this story ended like it did! Also...if I must say... was it just me or did you anyone else get the feeling the next book will be about Henry in a fake relationship trope??? We shall wait and see. :)
Honestly, I was a little hesitant going into this knowing it involved a Hockey player but wasnt a Hockey romance. This is a camp romance. BUT, that was rather silly. Hannah smashed this! And camp romance was everything I didnt know I needed.
Stolen kisses in the rain, sly touches during team building, camp fire glances. This was swoon worthy start to finish.
A college party featuring drunk Jenga turns into one naughty evening for these guys. Neither expected to see the other again over summer, especially at a kids sleep away camp.
Both Russ & Aurora have difficult family lives, for different reasons but still quite similar. Both have never been chosen first.
These two build a stunning relationship through being camp leaders. But where Aurora is an over sharer, Russ has built some huge guarded walls around himself. (Except when it comes to his feelings towards Ror. #boyobsessed) Russ was a massive Golden retriever book boyfriend, regardless of your preferred genre you cant help but fall (hard) for him. Aurora was brilliant.. book lover, witty, wild. They were so so good for each other!
I really liked watching these characters grow, learning to trust, let go, be honest and become the best versions of themselves. I read the whole thing with a smile on my face & there were countless times I kicked my feet and squealed whilst giddy. Nate & Stassies story was an incredible debut & I thought itd be hard to follow but wow! The writing, the spice, the emotions.. beautiful.
4.5 ✨
I have absolutely no words for how perfect this book is. Hannah Grace did it again, another fantastic book.
I couldn’t stop reading it. The characters, the plot, the setting. Everything was just perfect and I won’t stop recommending this book.
Wildfire is such a sweet and cute heartwarming romance book with spice. This was cute, swoony and emotional. Everything you might want in a romance book.
Aurora and Russ are so well created that nobody can convince me they aren’t real. I loved their character development and how book of them are dealing with some heavy things in their lives. Both of them have flaws but that’s what makes them so real. Aurora is incredible and I found her extremely relatable. And Russ is just adorable and I can’t deal with how the perfect book boyfriend he is. I also found him to be super relatable. And their relationship felt so real and so raw. There’s no third act breakup and while there’s a little bit of miscommunication, I think it’s was extremely well done.
This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and Hannah Grace did not disappoint.
Thank you to Hannah Grace and LoveNotes PR for the ARC.
Its a mind-blowing feel good book. I loved it, the beginning took me a bit longer to get into but after a few chapters I was hooked. I loved the personalities of these characters. Russ and Aurora should be the ambassadors for communication. They dealt with it so well and really set the bar high in terms of open communication even when they don’t even know where they stand together.
I enjoyed the playfulness the story had. I liked how Xander’s was funny and what a supportive friend Emilia was to Aurora. I loved the whole camp/counselors vibe, it was just so much fun. The dialogues between Russ and Aurora are to die for, the way they both understood where the other was coming from and tried to comfort each other was superb. I liked how Aurora was an over-sharer and that lead to Russ sharing things he would have never done with others. The ending was sweet with a bit of comedy. I also enjoyed how the book had some very comical moments. Just too good of book to read!!
5 / 5 💌🌷🏕️
me 🤝🏼 hannah grace's writing!!!
A huge thank you to Hannah Grace & LoveNotesPR for the ARC of this book <33
This was a true 5 stars for me, I was kicking my feet and laughing out loud within the first 10 pages. I fell in love with Aurora and Russ instantly and I whisked away to a summer camp of my dreams. Their story, their connection, everything about them I loved. Their acknowledgement of the times they miscommunicated was honestly everything I needed and more. The subtle forbidden-ness of their relationship was honestly so good. Their deep connection of lost souls finding a home in each other (I don't know how but this is an underrated trope that has quickly become one of my favourites).
TBH, when I first saw this book announced I was skeptical about the summer camp and how purely different that setting was going to be compared to Icebreaker but boy did my opinion drastically change. Yes it was different but honestly it was the best kind of different. I actually loved that the setting was different. Another weird trope that I love is when he's a hockey (or just a sports) player but you never see him actually train or play, it's just a fact that he plays the sport.
My absolute favourite aspect of this book was "Tell me a secret..." <3
I rated Icebreaker high but this exceeded my expectations and became an all-time favourite. I want to own the physical copy to annotate and highlight and re-read. I feel such a comfort in both these characters.
So whilst I could see how someone might not have the same view as me, when you connect to both the characters like I did to Russ and Aurora (seeing myself in both of them) is hard to rate this book anything less than 5 stars.
Wildfire was one of my most anticipated releases of this year and I was so happy I got the chance to read it earlier.
in this book, we follow Russ and Aurora while they're in camp. this book took me on a really beautiful summery journey, filled with magical sceneries, animals and a lot of angst. I'm going to say it again, because I don't think I was clear enough with Icebreaker: Hannah Grace writes the best smut scenes.
there's always this amazing connection and communication between the characters that I absolutely love in the books that she writes. Russ and Aurora were quite different from Nate and Stassie and I loved that because we got to see the author write something completely different and experiment with different fonts, if you will.
we didn't exactly see the whole hockey side even though Russ was a hockey player, but we got to spend time to another location that personally, I've never encountered in any othee books.
Summer camp, are you kidding? I'm all in.
Overall, a great sequel and continuation in general of this series. And I can't wait for Henry's books next.
Argh this book I loved it. I loved Ice Breaker so I knew I would love this and honestly it was just perfection. I need a Russ Callaghan in my life stat! He’s the sweetest guy total golden retriever vibes and your routing for him and Aurora all the way!
Aurora is super confident and a total book nerd 😉 I loved her internal chats and quirks. Her and Russ’ chemistry is sooooo off the charts the way they get along and are together is just everything.
As always the author makes it so you not only love the main characters the side characters are just as amazing. I can’t wait to read more from them fingers crossed!
100% recommend this book (if you’ve read icebreaker you’ll definitely love it) can’t wait for more books from the author
I was super excited for this release especially after Icebreaker (one of my favourite reads last year) & don’t know if maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for it but couldn’t seem to get into it. Plot was okay and romance between Russ & Aurora was cute but didn’t have the same spark as Icebreaker.
Easy 5 star read, new book boyfriend, and one of my favorite reads this year!
After house party and a fun one night stand and one little misunderstanding, Russ and Aurora are again at the same place at the same time - working at summer camp as counselors. Russ needs the money, and Aurora wants to work on herself. And their love story and breaking the rules begins.
I absolutely loved this one. From the start I fell in love with Russ - sweet, shy and insecure hockey player who needs just a bit of push from a friend to become more confident. I loved absolutely everything about this man. And I can’t remember when was the last time I loved female character this much - Aurora is so talkative, pretty, fun and confident girl, and everything about her is so likable.

I enjoyed the story so much and the setting where story takes place was amazing (at least in my head). I just could clearly imagine how much fun they had and their little stolen moments were so special. There are so many cute moments that you won’t believe me until you read this book and see for yourself. I loved how they opened up to each other, all of theirs inside jokes, “tell me a secret” moments and all the little details they discovered about one another.
If you want to find the sweetest story with the sweetest main and side characters - please read this book.

thank you @lovenotes.pr and @hannahgraceauthor for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review! 💗
i absolutely loved icebreaker (first book in this series) so i had so many expectations for the next book in this series. alas i was kinda disappointed :(
i loved the characters' backgrounds and how much they both related to one another in regards to their family dynamics. it made their conversations and their character development interesting to read about.
the whole summer camp theme was so fun and i loved the vibes. it was cozy, fun, and adorable! the side characters were also really funny and i loved getting to know them. what i didn't like was how there wasn't any real plot? it just felt like things were happening inconsistently and it wasn't enough to keep me hooked to the book. i also wish there was more of a recap in the beginning bc i was so lost trying to remember the characters 😭
their romance is adorable, but i have to admit it was a bit too fast paced for my liking and the focus on the smut wasn't my cup of tea. i loved how they both communicated though and how they both learned to be patient with each other. the lack of third act breakup was a relief which gives it bonus points.
overall, i still loved icebreaker way more than this one, but this was a cute read. russ and aurora are both interesting characters, if a little underdeveloped, and their chemistry was chefs kiss. i can't wait to read the next installments in this series (especially henry's) <3
When Aurora is invited by her best friend to attend a farewell party at the hockey players’ frat house, she is reluctant at first but decides to show up for her best friend anyway. Then she bumps into the shy hockey player, Russ, which leads them to have a one night stand. Both assume that it wasn’t more than a one night stand even though they wanted it to be. Aurora leaves, Russ has no clue what to do as he’s leaving for a summer job. The sparks they felt were undeniable. Summer break has started and Aurora is heading towards the summer camp she’s been going to since she was little. It has been her sanctuary. Coincidentally, Russ also ends up at the same place because he wanted to be away from Maple Hills for some time. When they first see each other there, they’re in shock and have no clue how to behave around each other. Soon, the shock turns into something else and they find themselves gravitating towards each other. The sparks fly once again. But there’s a strict no fraternisation rule. Russ is eager to keep his job and Aurora, famously known as the trouble maker, is all for breaking the rules.
It’s safe to say that Hannah Grace has done it again. This book exceeded my expectations.
I honestly thought no one from the UCMH would surpass Nate as the best book boyfriend for me (ogs are the best) but Russ definitely won my heart. Shy boy x confident girl? I’m in.
“𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒉𝒚, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰'𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒚. 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝑰'𝒎 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕, 𝒊𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒔.”
I FELT THAT. I LOVE A SHY, GENTLE and SENSITIVE MAN WITH A GOLDEN RETRIEVER PERSONALITY.
“𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒌𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔?”
This man was a walking green flag. GREENEST FLAG ever. I love this about Hannah’s books. Her characters are always diverse and likeable.
“𝑰’𝒎 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒐 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆.”
Russ filled in all the gaps with his tenderness when Rory felt like everyone would abandon her. Aurora and her validation seeking personality hit close to home. He told her he would stay and he did.
Although, this wasn’t much of a sports romance like Icebreaker, it definitely had some enjoyable sport elements. There were mentions of Basketball, F1 and Hockey.
I love how Russ and Aurora were so similar but also worlds apart. I really enjoyed the fact that Russ wasn’t a stereotypical hockey player who wasn’t solely focused to make it to the professional level.
“𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔, 𝑹𝒖𝒔𝒔. 𝑾𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒔.”
Aurora is an over sharer which encouraged communication every time they hit a wall. They were really mature about things despite being only twenty.
If you liked Icebreaker, there’s no doubt this book will make a place in your heart as well. It was more than just a summer love story. I love how both characters overcame their issues and worked on themselves and eventually developed a healthy relationship. The difficult family dynamics will have you shedding a few tears. Their growth was remarkable. Aurora is such an amazing character. She’s strong, caring, loyal and easygoing. Despite being burned by her daddy issues, she manages to overcome her own personal struggles. She seeks validation and praises and BOY LET ME TELL YOU RUSS KNOWS HOW TO PRAISE.
The whole family vibe was great. The whole summer camp setting gave cozy, adventurous vibes. The flirting? The banter? The humour? THE KISS IN THE RAIN???? CHEF’S KISS. THAT EPILOGUE??? I feel complete. I feel homesick already and I can’t wait to reread. I NEED Henry’s book as much as my next breath. UCMH boys are the best and I love how they’re always there for their bros. JJ was such an amazing friend to Russ. I loved Xander (the unproblematic king) and Emilia too, and I really hope I get to see them in the next books.
Icebreaker was one of my favourite books last year and I did a reread this year. I was overjoyed when I was approved for the eARC. I am so grateful to be able to read one of my most anticipated releases this year early. Thank you so much Love Notes PR for providing me with an ARC. 🩷
ARC REVIEW
4 stars!
Russ you muffin!!!!
So glad this is Russ’s story, loved him in the first book and wanted more of him & sure didn’t disappoint.
Russ not having the confidence with talking to other people/ladies and faking until you make it, is so true for most people.
They both got daddy issues and trying to work on themselves and falling in love while being forbidden.
Great to read a book that isn’t drama filled from start to finish and a sweet romance.
2/5 stars.
i was so excited to read this book but i'm not gonna lie, i was beyond disappointed. icebreaker was one of my favourite reads of last year and i loved hannah grace's writing style, so i expected this to be at least a 3 star read, but things just didn't fall in place for me.
the pacing of the book was slow in the middle, and while i'm someone who loves books that are long for no other reason than to show the reader different parts of the characters' lives, wildfire was just unnecessarily long. the angst was also, to me, poorly written and came across as awkward in places.
what annoyed me the most about this book though, was that all the characters would talk about was their daddy issues. it felt like mutually beneficial therapy rather than a relationship and i wish there were other reasons readers could see that they were compatible. they talk about that one thing over and over again, and i could only take so much of it before i stopped caring. i wouldn't say it was bad because if it were, i would have had no problem in dnf'ing it, but it's a far cry from good.
i will also not forget how henry was done dirty he's just like all the other guys now and it pisses me off to no end. i'm definitely going to give this universe another chance and stick around for the third one (which is going to be henry's book i think?) because of how much i loved icebreaker, but this one just... yeah, it just wasn't for me.
Thank you to Love Notes PR, Netgalley and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this one! I ate up icebreaker so I knew I’d also devour wildfire.
Russ is the sweetest guy ever, he has so much going on in his life and deserves the world. I love his friendship with Henry it is the cutest thing ever.
Aurora is a bright light of sunshine who makes everyone around her feel good and loved. She will always put the feelings of others before herself and is just so selfless.
I love them together because they helped eachother heal from their own family traumas. They are the pieces of the puzzle eachother was missing.
Hannah still killing it with the group chats I adored those in icebreaker and they were better in wildfire. The boys group chat always has me howling!
I still absolutely love Henry. I can’t wait for his book next!
After Icebreaker rocked my world I couldn't wait for the next Maple Springs book and Hannah Grace has really done it again!
Wildfire is so easy to read and difficult to put down. The dialogue and banter is just everything and she has a way of making you love every single character she writes!
That being said icebreaker still remains my favourite. I went into Wildfire expecting another cute romance with all the romcom vibes but I felt like this wasn't quite that. They had a lot of trauma and this book was very much more a healing journey most of the time. The whole middle of the book is just them verbal diarrhoearing their trauma to one another day after day. As much as I don't have a problem with them having this healing journey I would've loved for it to be a subplot within the larger plot and not the main plot. It also just felt like the monologue of these portions of the book was just a big trauma dump. Like paragraphs at a time instead of bits of info at a time. It messes with the pacing of the book for me. I just would've like to experience more of the camp aspect like the activities and the interaction with the kids but all of this felt missing.
But, that is basically my only issue with this book! The characters are adorable (however Nate and Stassie still have my heart) the romance is amazing, the smut is incredible this is definitely a must read!
4.5⭐️
Wildfire is the second book in the Maple Hills series, the first being Icebreaker which was huge on Bookstagram and Booktok when it came out and was a fun 4 star read for me.
I enjoyed Wildfire a lot more than Icebreaker! I feel like the plot was far more substantial - there was definitely a lot of smut just as there was in Icebreaker, but the plot felt like more than just a device to get you to the smut scenes. Russ and Aurora were both likeable and relatable as characters, both had their own baggage which they slowly shared with each other as the story progressed and they got to know each other better. I especially liked Russ’ POV chapters, going on the journey with him through his family issues, opening up to people and letting Aurora into his life was really satisfying and it was great to watch their relationship develop and grow.
I’m knocking off half a star because there were a few scenes throughout the book that felt like filler, they didn’t really add much to the plot and they dragged a bit. I am very firmly on team ‘romance books shouldn’t be more than 300 pages long’ though, so this may just be a me thing. Overall this didn’t hamper my enjoyment of the book though. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a fun smutty little book with summer romance vibes.
Wildfire - Hannah Grace

"Is everything he does hot, or am I just easily impressed? One of Life's great questions."
The answer is both😂
This. Freaking. Book! It's my new personality! I need a Russ Callaghan in my life because my god, he is the sweetest, most caring, funniest, hottest cinnamon roll/muffin😉 of a guy! I mean who says "You're like Sunlight Rory, I want to bask In everything you have."
When I first heard that this book would be about Russ and not Henry I was extremely sad. But my opinion completely changed about 30 pages into the book!
Aurora is a strong confident FMC, I loved all of her internal dialogue and how she would liken certain situations to tropes from romance books! Her chemistry with Russ was amazing, their banter was tops and they were extremely cute together!
As I said Russ was the shy cinnamon role MMC. I could honestly go on about him but let me not get started😂
There were also amazing side characters like Xander - who I really hope we see more of! Everything that came out of his mouth was honestly the funniest. I highlighted so many quotes from him😅
I also love how Hannah does not shy away from deeper real-life topics, like parental issues and addictions. She always approaches these difficult situations so well and we get so much character growth coming from them!
Overall this book was funny, there was spice, banter, and slow burn! THERE WAS A KISS IN THE RAIN! There was Found Family, cute dogs, and puppies!
So the question now is do you need to read Wildfire? A MILLION TIMES YES! Let me not overhype it, but if you liked Icebreaker I think you'll love this even more.
Thank you so much Love Notes PR, NetGalley, and Hannah Grace for providing me with an e-arc of this book. I was at the airport when I got the email that I had been approved and literally squealed, thank god no one heard me😂
