Such a good book, I had trouble putting this down to function as a reasonable adult! This book had me feeling every emotion. Paige Toon is definitely one of the top authors of her time. Fantastic!

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC.

Seven Summers is told from the point of view of Liv, a young woman who has returned to Cornwall for the summer after university and bumps into a man, Finn, who she went to school with. They spend the night together but an unimaginable tragedy happens. They subsequently agree to spend time together every summer, as long as they are both single.

I absolutely adored this story and Paige Toon is now a must read author for me. Be warned - it isn't a light beach read. My only negative is that I wish the events of the epilogue weren't so rushed.

Wow! What a rollercoaster of a book. It had me crying, smiling with joy, heartbroken and disappointed, then content. This book has all the emotions that you would want from this type of book when they are so rarely able to deliver on that promise, you must read this book, but make sure you have plenty of tissues with you.

Seven Summers is an incredibly beautiful love story that follows Liv and Finn over 7 summers. I love the trope of right person wrong time, and this was heartbreaking at times it was ultimately full of wholesome love and I didn't want to put this down. I highly recommend to anybody who loves incredibly written romance books.

An emotional rollercoaster of a ride this book delivers in telling the story of Liv and Finn. I liked the setting of Cornwall too. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

A beautiful love story with a difference which is told over 7 summers. Liv and Finn fall in love in their home town in Cornwall but unfortunately they both want very different lives. They go their separate ways, but meet every summer back in Cornwall. This seemingly cannot go on for ever and I did wonder if they would ever have a future together. Things go from bad to worse for them and I really felt their heartache, just hoping for a happy ending for Liv, an emotional story of love, loss and grief which is beautifully written. A real page turner!

I absolutely loved this book! We meet Liv who lives in the little village of St Agnes in Cornwall with her family. Her story is told over seven summers of her life, right from just before she is planning to move to London to follow her dream as a sculptor to the present day. She has all her friends and family around her, but her story focusses specifically on her first love Finn, who manages to break her heart over and over again. The storyline moves backwards and forwards in time from the present day summer to the previous seven summers and during Liv's present day story we also get to meet Tom, who has rented out Liv's holiday flat.

The story flows along so well, grabbing you from the first page, I was transfixed with Liv, Finn and Tom's stories very early on in the book. It certainly takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, which to be honest I hadn't expected any different after reading some of the author's previous books! The setting of the book was stunning and as I read I could just imagine myself down by the Cornish coast. The characters were so likeable and I could relate easily to them. My heart went out to all of them with their stories, but Liv in particular! I won't go too much into detail for fear of spoilers, but I was particularly surprised (and pleased!) with the inclusion of a Long QT Syndrome storyline as I have this my condition myself and I don't often find it written about!!

The whole book tugged at my heartstrings and had me on the verge of tears throughout, in fact I was actually in tears at several parts! It was such an emotional read with lots of sad parts, but it was also filled with lots of heart-warming moments of love, friendship and family. Very well written and well researched, this book will leave you with tears in your eyes and a warm glow in your heart. It was a wonderful love story spread over the years which I would definitely recommend!

This is the first book I’ve read from Paige Toon and it won’t be the last. It pulled at my heart strings.

We travelled through seven summers with Liv. The first was when she returned from uni full of hope of forging a new life with the added bonus of meeting Fin and falling head over heels in love.

When tragic events changed the course of her life , Liv is no longer free to follow Fin as he pursues his dreams and so they rely on their shared summers, hoping they could keep their love alive.

The burning question is will the distance make or break them ? And can they both wait for each other as being together permanently seems impossible? Meeting the perfect man, Tom throws another curve ball for Liv. She faces a big decision., but will it be the correct one ?

As a person who is very bad at making decisions myself I wondered if liv would make the right one. Is there only one true love in our lives ? Or can we love more than one in equal measure ?

Although my heart was ripped apart at times while reading this book, there was also lots of hope and laughter in the story. Love, friendship, community and friendships were beautifully explored.

This book had me guessing right to the end . I absolutely loved it .

As the title suggests this book goes back and forth over Seven Summers.
Liv has just returned back to Cornwall from Italy after passing a Sculpture Course, where she meets Finn, an old school friend who has moved to LA to pursue his song writing, and he has also returned home for the summer to visit his grandparents.
This story pulls you in, shatters your heart, and puts it back together again.
I would advise anybody to read this book
Thank you Paige and Netgalley for the advance copy.

This is the first Paige Toon book I have read and I really enjoyed it! Set in beautiful Cornwall we follow Liv as she meets and tries not to fall in love with Finn a stand in singer for the local band that plays at the restaurant she works at. When a family tragedy occurs they are bought close together but when has to return back to LA where he is now based Liv is left wondering if he will return the next summer. I loved the location and characters and even though the book begins with grief it is also a mixture of art, friends and family and finding love through heartbreak. I will be recommending this to others.

It's been a while since I've read a Paige Toon book but it was just what I needed after a busy week. She writes romantic fiction really well and her characters are well developed a and you care about how things turn out for them. Set over 7 summers, this tells the story of aspiring sculptor Liv and how her life is turned upside down over the course of 6 weeks. It's a comforting hug of a book. Enjoy.

A bittersweet, thoroughly enjoyable read. I've read several books before by Paige Toon, usually passed on from my daughters and this is certainly up there as one of her best. Set in Cornwall in St. Agnes and several timelines but not at all confusing where you are. Beautiful descriptions of the Cornish coast that the reader can almost smell the sea air. Wonderfully depicted characters which developed and matured throughout the book. Just loved Michael, just spot on. Certainly a roller-coaster between the three main characters, Liv, Finn and Tom plus quite a bit of drama along the way. I did get exasperated with Liv at times as she seemed to be calling all the shots and then suffering with her decisions. An excellent holiday read and if you're a fan of Paige Toon a must, one of my daughters will be getting this for a birthday present I'm sure.

This was an enjoyable read that was gripping right up to the end! The epilogue was a mini a novel in itself (!) but it was so cleverly done - I really enjoyed it. The book flips seamlessly between the present day and previous summers. This enables the reader to go back and forwards almost without realising it! It is a really great read and I'd highly recommend it.

A sweeping, swoon-worthy romance full of heart and a journey of discovery. The stories weave in and out, between time and different versions of our characters to trace a life full of love over each summer.

Can a story be any more perfect? This had everything. Liv and Finn are bonded for life, but life gets in the way. What will happen during those 7 summers ? a perfect read

Heart breaking romance! The timeline jumps had me a bit confused at first but I soon got the hang of it. The setting in Cornwall was so beautifully described. The characters were amazing, you got so involved with their lives as the story evolved. A beautiful story.

Okay, so after reading this, I am almost ashamed to admit that I haven't read any Paige Toon books before. There is no specific reason, other than I have had so many others to read, that I haven't got round to reading them.
However, and it's a big however, I shall be hunting down her back catalogue after reading Seven Summers.
Talk about an author putting you through the rinse cycle about a MILLION times!
The story centres around Liv, a young woman living in St Agnes, Cornwall. She has come back after her studies, fully ready to embrace the life of a hopefully full-time sculptor.
She meets Finn, an acquaintance from secondary school, and they hit it off. Thing is, they want very different things from life, and though they are perfect for one another, there are many reasons why they can't be in the same place all the time.
Both characters have tragedy etched in their souls that they support one another with, but equally, both have responsibilities and dreams that tear them apart.
Over six years, they are drawn together like magnets each summer, then pulled apart.
Except on the seventh, when Liv meets a stranger, Tom, who looks set to break this cycle of not quite toxic but unhealthy and unmanageable emotion.
I really don't want to reiterate the story in this review, but I will say that I highly recommend reading this book.
Yes, there is loss, and yes, there are struggles, but there is genuine happiness and love, too.
Be ready to have your heart quivering with anticipation as it sings, then cries with heartbreak, only to rise again before a fall and then come full circle again to happiness.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House, UK, for an ARC.

Seven Summers, a guaranteed tear jerker.

Recommended reading.

Opening at present time, the author takes the reader back seven years to when 22-year old Liv meets and falls in love with Finn, a stand-in singer with the local rock group. Finn is spending a few weeks in Cornwall with his family before returning to LA to advance his music career.

Each summer Finn returns to Cornwall and they renew their relationship but being together for just a few weeks each years is not enough. Liv has commitments and can't leave Cornwall, and Finn's work is in America. Eventually they decide their relationship has become too stressful and both find other love interests.

The book progresses between present day and past summers, the timelines are clearly marked and teasingly end with cliff hangers. This is compulsive reading.

Finally reaching present time the book ends with an epilogue. Then comes the twist, the story extends into future summers.

This is far more than the usual summer romance.

📚 Book Review 📚
Seven Summers - Paige Toon.
4.5/5

I don't often go for a romance book unless it has a good story to it and this one did. It is my first read by Paige Toon and probably won't be my last but I need to get over this one before I read another. It tells the story of Liv and Finns romance through the summers they spend together in Cornwall where Liv and Finn grew up but Finn now lives in LA with his dad. They try to deal with the distance between them and when Liv meets Tom and Finn dates a singer they both struggle with their feelings. I don't want to give anymore away, there's a lot more to the story but 😭 a very emotional book and written very well. If you enjoy an emotional roller coaster then I would definitely recommend this one. I will need a feelgood book next or a good thriller 😅
Thank you to @netgalley and @PaigeToon for my arc copy.
