I wasn’t sure about this book at the start but as I read further it really got me hooked.
I loved the characters and of course the beautiful Cornish setting, but most of all I loved the storyline. It was a bit of a rollercoaster and lots of tears were shed but it was a great read which I highly recommend!
Paige toon has done it again, she has once again managed to write a book that is the perfect blend of past and present timelines, a past love story that is absolutely heart wrenching and a new love story that is so hopeful and all that combined had me absolutely flying through the pages to find out how the story was going to end.
I think I went through every emotion going during this book and that’s why Paige will always be one of my favourite authors.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book. It is a wonderful story with a beginning, a middle, an end, a past, and a future, and it takes you through every stage of Liv and Flynn's friendship.
I was so happy to sit and escape into their relationship, interspersed with lots of emotion, without the saccharine sweetness that would have completely diluted the impact. The introduction of Tom and other family members, friendships and everyday challenges felt real and for such a short book, I really do feel as though I've experienced a great deal with this lovely group of people.
I highly recommend this book for holiday reads and when you want to feel emotionally connected to characters that you'll remember with one quick glance at a review.
Thanks to Penguin Random House and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of Seven Summers by Paige Toon. Liv's journey is truly heart-wrenching right from the start, as she navigates through loss, grief, lovesickness, and a significant amount of responsibilities. She quickly became one of the most relatable characters I've come across recently, and I couldn't help but cheer for her happiness. The entrance of Finn and Tom added even more depth to the story.
The book's engaging narrative and easy-to-follow writing style drew me in effortlessly as I followed Olivia, or Liv, through the most tumultuous period of her life. The constant shifts between different points in her life, particularly those that altered her relationship with Finn, kept me captivated. Meeting Tom was a refreshing experience for Liv, bringing a new sense of vitality into her life. The evolution of their relationship was a joy to witness, as Tom's kindness and their interactions blossomed into something beautiful. Tom's character, with his genuine sweetness, left a lasting impact on me, and I found myself deeply moved by the conclusion of the book. The emotional depth and authenticity of the characters made this a truly unforgettable read.
Another wonderfully well written book by Paige Toon.
This one had twists and turns at every corner and I loved how the story flicked between past and present.
The descriptions were so vivid you could imagine yourself there and I couldn’t help but empathise with the main character, Liv, who had to deal with so much.
I really enjoyed this book and if you want a book filled with romance, laughter and some heartache, then this is the book for you.
I made it a third through before deciding to do myself a kindness and stop! Reads like YA and just nothing terribly engaging or compelling about the characters.
Seven Summers by Paige Toon
I give this book 4.5 stars
Six summers ago Liv and Finn meet and fall in love. But Finn's life is in LA with his band, and Liv's is in Cornwall with her family - so they make a promise. Finn will return every year, and if they are single they will spend the summer together.
This summer
Liv crosses paths with Tom and for the first time Liv can imagine a world where her heart isn't broken every year.
Now Liv must make an impossible choice.
This is my first Paige Toon book and I loved the easy flow of this author’s captivating writing style.A story that is so much more than your average romance, heartbreaking and inspirational in equal measures. Told from Liv’s pov the storyline transitions between the seven summers bringing you full circle.Filled with emotion and depth exploring the grief of loss, loving more than one person, the journey of healing and the impact it has on relationships.I was pulled in by the Cornish beach town setting along with the music, sculpture and sand art.Writing this review a week later I’m still caught up in this book and once my heart has recovered I will definitely be reading more of this author’s books.Do you need to read it……yes you do!
With thanks to Netgalley,Paige Toon and Random House UK, Cornerstone, Penguin
for my chance to read and review this book.
This is by far one of the best Paige Toon books I have read. I quickly became invested in this story following the roller coaster life of Liv, a young person who is thrown into adulthood and pain far too young. Following her relationships each summer with her friend/Lover Finn.
It made me smile, gasp and cry. A must read as is truly an amazing book, just make sure you have set yourself time to read as once you begin you will not want to put this book down.
My honest review from having received an ARC from netgalley
Wow this story absolutely made me feel like I was watching a film. Liv and Finn honestly had a lot to work through, but I really loved the message of what is meant for you will find you. There was some moments when I wanted to close the book as I was feeling the characters emotions but I really wanted everything to work out for them both. Paige toon has definitely made me want to read more of her stories.
Thankyou for the opportunity to read and review this arc.
I loved this book so much. Definitely my top read of 2024 so far. Lovely characters and a great storyline. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for sending me this early ebook in exchange for an honest review,
This isn't a first for me when it comes to Paige's books, and every single time I fall in love with her writing as if it is the first time. Living in Devon I am very familiar with the Cornish cost as it's my neighbouring county, so I always get excited reading a book and noticing some settings. This was no different, set in the gorgeous St Agnes, this will have you counting down the days to those summer months (unless of course you are reading in the summer, then this will have you craving the Cornish coast).
I loved this book and the past and present timelines showing how Liv has managed to settle in St Agnes after the devastating tragedy she had went through that first summer home, watching Liv work through her grief, longing and 'lost in life' feelings that she once had. It was amazing to watch her grow as a character and I could really find myself attaching to her character completely. Seeing parts of myself in Liv, I truly could sense the emotions she went through and was really rooting for her.
I rated this a 4 instead of a 5 star purely because it was difficult for me to connect to Finn and I just could not warm to him at all.
I loved Tom and thought he was Liv's better companion and really enjoyed watching their relationship blossom and be there for each other, it was so enjoyable and wished that there were more chapters in the present tense than the past.
**spoilers so do not read on if you haven't read**
I did not like who Liv ended up with in the end and really wished something more for her and Tom, I enjoyed reading their end chapters but felt it so rushed. They have my vote always, Tom over Finn!
Every Paige Toon book should come with free tissues, comfort chocolate and a big hug and this one should come with double doses of each! What an emotional roller coaster, from start to end this had me gripped. Stunning!
Oooh this is an epic love story told over the course of seven summers of Liv’s life - prepare to fall in love and have your heart broken multiple times as you join her on her gorgeous journey!
Now I’m not sure if this was because I started reading this at the same time as watching the new Netflix adaptation of One Day…. But I found the set up of this story quite reminiscent of One Day, in the sense that we stay in and around the same day of summer but bounce around the years. It had a similar vibe with many things staying the same and some things having moved on without us. Another similarity being the epic love stories!
In Seven Summers, we start on summer #7 where Liv is working at a beachside cafe/bar for the summer and first meets Tom. We then go back to the first summer where Finn has returned to St Agnes and is playing with his band at the bar on the night that Liv first starts working there. And so begins their ‘will-they-won’t-they’ love story.
Forever bonded by a tragedy that befalls Liv that first summer, and the power of their feelings for each other, Liv and Finn can’t quite move on from each other, even though they’re forced to part for most of the year when Finn moves back to LA. They promise to come back together if they’re still single.
As the years go by, and we move closer to the seventh summer, things change and some things stay the same, but their feelings only grow stronger. The story of Liv and Finn’s love is so beautifully and powerfully told, it is impossible not to fall in love with them ourselves and to just wish there was a way for them!
I enjoyed the characters so much - Liv, Tom and Finn - they were all very real and full of flaws and loveliness in equal amounts. And the Cornwall setting was dreamy and brought to life so beautifully that I want to go there immediately.
My only reason for losing the 5th star was the epilogue section - after such a lovely pace to the main part of the novel, things suddenly felt very rushed and hectic as we raced through multiple years into the future. Whilst on one hand it was lovely to wrap absolutely everything up and not be left imagining What If..?, it almost left me with a headache from being spun about so fast! And some of what was glossed over felt as important as some of the earlier parts that were fully explored. But it was overall very satisfying!

You always know you are in for a gentle emotional rollercoaster with a Paige Toon novel and this is no exception.
When Liv moves home to Cornwall for the summer after university she never expected to meet, and fall in love with, Finn, a musician who now resides in America, also back for the summer. Finn and Liv make a promise to spend each summer together if they are both single. Flash forward to This Summer and Liv meets Tom and for the first summer in seven years she finds herself not single when Finn returns. What will Liv do?
Absolutely beautiful, so cleverly written with the present story and the flashbacks to the seven summers before. I found my heart breaking for Liv many times and wanted to scream at her what to do! Definitely one to read.
Thank you to NetGalley, Paige Toon and Random House UK for this ARC in return for an honest review.

Aww, I enjoyed reading this book. I recommended it to my mum. Thank you to the writer, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read it.
What an absolutely lovely, heartwarming book. I've read other Paige Toon books but they aren't my usual 'go to' genre so I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this as much as I did. The characters were easily liked and all well written, not just the main characters which is often the case. I especially loved Michael's determined independence. Also, using a significant point in the story and working backwards and forwards from that point to mark the chapters really worked for me. I really wasn't expecting the twist at the end so well done Paige. You got me! A brilliant light hearted book I'm happy to recommend. Enjoy!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.
I loved this so much!
Seven Summers is the perfect summer read.
You can’t help but fall in love with Liv and Finn, the “twist” felt right as did the ending.
5 stars.
I knew from reading “Only Love Can Hurt Like this” that Paige Toon knows how to rip out my heart. And Seven Summers (or more like 21 summers) later she’s done it again! Picture me crying while I write this review for this well deserved 4.5 star read.
The story of Liv is heartbreaking from the beginning. She deals with loss, grief, lovesickness and a huge amount of responsibilities from the start. I found her to be one of the most relatable characters I’ve encountered in a while! I was immediately rooting for her and just wanted her to be happy! Enter Finn and Tom!
Do I usually enjoy love triangles? Absolutely not! Did I enjoy this one? Kinda. I’m not gonna lie, I am an outspoken member of team Tom! I enjoyed his chapters far more and connected to him on a much deeper level! Finn kept staying a mystery to me and I was sometimes wishing his chapters would end and we could go back to my boy Tom. Saying that, I still enjoyed following Liv’s journey and growth whilst she was maneuvering her relationship with Finn and appreciated everything that led to.

The main reason why this is not a five star read for me (apart from my boy not being endgame) is that the ending felt really rushed. The minute we arrived at summer seven and went into the (unusually long) epilogue, the timing just didn’t feel right to me. I wanted to spend more time in the next six years with Tom (cause again: my boy), or have more time pass with Liv greasing or coming to the realization she wants to be with Finn. The way it was handled with the quick jumps between years didn’t give me time to catch up with her reasoning and made it feel rushed. I lost the connection with her (and Finn) at this point, so that their final reunion didn’t feel as satisfying as I would have hoped.
Still, this was a great read and I have a feeling these characters will stay with me for a while!
Thanks Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review!
I always enjoy reading a Paige Toon book and this one did not disappoint. An easy-to-read enjoyable book that will leave you with a nice warm feeling while rooting for the characters. Pick up this book, you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this arc.
Paige Toon never disappoints, I have loved every books I read of hers and this was no different! I normally don’t loved dual timeline but this one was done in a way where you wanted to know what happened in the past!
The pacing of the book was great and I thought it flowed really well! I didn’t love the way the ending was played out entirely but I felt it was more so realistic.
A solid 4.25 stars!
