After reading the Kingdom of the Cursed series by this author, I was so excited to read this book set in the same world and focusing on some of the most intriguing characters from the series!
The Prince of Envy is a morally grey male lead and the female protagonist is incredible as well. There's such a beautiful chemistry between the two, witty banter and this makes for some super spicy scenes.
I can't wait to pick up the next books in this new series to see how the author develops the character of Envy further!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I read the series and I did find this stand alone a good addition to the series. It was well rounded and interesting. The writing is great as usual. I wish we could have a sneaky second series but I’ll be happy with these stand alones too.
I didn't realise this was a sample. But I was fully pulled into the story and definitely want more! I have loved all of Keri's other books and I have no doubt I'll love this!
This was an amazing teaser in to the full book, and since finishing, I can confidently say that I had the best time with Camilla and Envy. There was so much angst and so much romance, so much yearning and pining. And I loved the twisted tales and riddles and games that came with it. I loved seeing the rest of the princes too and now I will eagerly wait the rest of the series!
This is a sequel of the kingdom of the wicked trilogy, and let me tell you that throne of the fallen is even better; so if you liked the trilogy you will literally fall in love with this one.
I can’t wait for Maniscalco to explore all the other princes of hell, after this book my expectations are very high.
Would totally recommend!
Thank you, Netgalley & the publishers for this ARC!
I was so excited to go back to the world of the wicked and to learn more about the world & the other brothers. Sadly, however, I didn't enjoy this as much as the series. I know you can't expect as much from a standalone as you can from a series, but with almost 600 pages I had still hoped for tension & a slow burn, or at least pages for the relationship to grow. This wasn't the case though. The main romance focused more around the smut and because of that I didn't really connect with the main characters.
The strength of this book was the banter between the brothers!
I'm pleased the next book will be shorter, and I'm hopeful that the pacing of the romance is better!
Thank you again for the chance to read this ARC!
Kerri Maniscalco is one of my favourite authors and this definitely did not disappoint. Thrilled to be back in this world and bought the full book as soon as it was released as I couldn’t wait to carry on reading.
They send me the first 67 pages and was amazing, I really enjoy this chapters.
I think Kerri Maniscalco have the best writing ever.
I buy immediately the book on amazon so, now I need to read the book asap.
Kerri Maniscalco is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, she never misses! This was an incredible ride of a story that kept me reading way later than I should. I bought a copy as soon as I could so I could have it pride of place on my bookshelf!
This left me really intrigued to go and buy the book - and I did! I love the aspect of the game, but that not too much is given away which makes you want to read on to find out what’s going to happen. I didn’t think I’d be interested in reading about the other sins in this series, but I’ve been proven wrong by this.
Amazing! I absolutely loved reading this small snippet. I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole book. This author does not disappoint with her books.
I’m already addicted. And I’m very excited to finish reading this one. I didn’t realise this was only a snippet, kinda glad I waited to read it now!
I was so excited when I received this snippet of this book! this is one of my favourite fantasy series ever and this teaser did not disappoint, I am so excited to get my hands on a copy of this book to continue the journey!
I enjoyed this sampler so much! It was quite short though, so I can't wait to pick up the finished book. But the beginning of this story is very promising and exciting, too!
This is a small extract and it made me want to read it even more than before. I’m excited to know the characters
I'm so happy to be back in this world. Throne of the Fallen is such a step up from the Kingdom of the Wicked series. I absolutely loved how fiesty Camilla was, and watching Envy fall for her was a delight. The expansion of the world building was dark and tense in all the right places, and while there were a few things that I wasn't a fan of, overall I thought it was a solid addition to this world.
Kerri Maniscalco is a gifted storyteller and her worlds are always the right mix of exciting and very dark.
This is a gripping and exciting novel that mixes darkness and pleasure, enjoyable and compelling.
Good world building and characters.
Liked it, recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
So I should probably start this review by saying that I read but wanted to dnf Kingdom of the Wicked. However, Throne of the Fallen was marked as an adult fantasy standalone novel set within the Kingdom of the Wicked world. So I came into this with not high hopes but medium hopes that I would like TOTF more than KOTW.
I thought that because the book was an adult fantasy the writing would also have matured a bit also but that wasn't the case. TOTF felt like KOTW but with spice, The world building was a bit off, on one hand I get whilst TOTF is standalone it's part of KOTW so the world building doesn't really need to be fully fleshed out as readers who pick up TOTF most likely have read KOTW. But then again it's a standalone so shouldn't the book be able to stand on it's own? I didn't finish KOTW series so once the left the mortal world I was very dependent on the world building to figure out just where they were in the grand scheme of things and I felt that was lacking. There was a lot of will they won't they because of all the secrets that were being kept so the ending when they finally got together felt a tad rushed which shouldn't have been the case when TOTF is 400 Pages long (according to Waterstones), there were more that enough pages to evenly spread out the plot.
I'm giving the book three stars because I don't if it's just me that had this issue I felt like the book could have been really amazing and maybe I just don't click with the series/KOTW world in general.
*also to know the netgalley arc was just a few sample chapters so I had to wait till release to read the whole thing to write this!
Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton, Hodderscape and netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Book review 📚
Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco - 4.5/5 ⭐
Right, don't hate me, but I've read kingdom of the wicked series! It's on my TBR, but so are a lot of books. I havw heard ALOT about Kingdom of the Wicked series and I am very glad to have read Throne of the Fallen first, as I keep hearing nothing with live up to KOTW!
Anyway, back to this book. Spice, heroes and heroines, spice, adventure, fantasy and did I mention, spice? Literally every single box ticked. I'm sold. Now the first few pages were absolutely PHENOMENAL. It sold me instantly and knew I was going to love it. It was not slow at all, it's gripping and exciting.
I'm also led to believe that this book is part of the KOTW series so it all binds together in some way. I can't wait to dive into that series if it's anywhere near as good as this one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder and Stoughton for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.
The first chapters of the new book from Kerri are really fascinating and promising a new book full of spice, danger, secrets and more.
Though I’m not sure if this series will be better than the Kingdom of the wicked series, the beginning is also introducing to a new area of the world as promising dark vibes, much tension between Camilla and Envy, and secrets, which will be found out. I’m excited!
