Wow!! I loved this so much! Such a great read, I was hooked straight away, definitely recommend a read!

Angela is turning 75 and fears this may be her last birthday so she invites her family to spend a weekend in a beautiful lodge on the Cornish coast. But this is no ordinary family as invited are her son, his wife & baby, 2 teenage children and his ex-wife. A recipe for disaster. And when a blizzard hits and they're stranded old resentments and jealousies are the nature of the day.
Just when you think you have everything all worked out, Sue Watson throws another spanner in the works. So many times I thought I knew where the book was going and what had happened only to be blindsided again and again.
I received this advanced copy from Netgalley and Bookouture with no obligation to leave my review

This was a good book if perhaps a little drawn out. Fiona, her children, ex husband and his new wife take a weekend trip to a lodge to celebrate her ex mother in laws birthday. When a bad snow storm hits they are trapped in the lodge and that's when tensions mount up between them all. A good read but did drag on a little.

This was a great read with lots of red herrings and a completely dysfunctional family. Yes there are some plot points that I think, really, but they are needed to work with the plot and get to the ending and don't really matter that much.

This was a definite afternoon/evening read as I just had to finish to see how it would end. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and bookoutre but the review is entirely my own.

Whoa. This book started out with a bang - my anxiety kicked in immediately.

I’ll admit, this book grated my nerves with endless “holes” that I was certain would leaving me hanging.

It didn’t. I predicted one of the twist - but I was still kind of wrong about it in the end. This book kept me on the edge of seat and I’m excited to read more from this author!

A lodge in the woods during a winter snow storm is the setting for this story about a family and the lies they have told and the murders……. I really enjoyed this and it kept me going till the end , wondering who killed who! Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc inechange for my honest review !

This was one was so good!! I did not expect the ending at all, I thought I had it figured out but nope!

The lodge is a story based around Fiona who is heading to a weekend trip at a lodge to celebrate her ex-mother in laws birthday with her kids, ex-husband and the new wife he left her for along with their daughter. To make things worse, the new wife Danni gets a shock when the chef for the weekend is a former friend Jenna that she believes is out to destroy her life. Things obviously start going bad and when Danni needs to get outside and clear her head she never makes it back to the lodge. What happened? And who in the family is to blame?

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and amazing author for my ARC!

Finished within an afternoon. A thriller that keeps you wanting more and more. So many plot twists which all get explained by the end of the book.

Was truly excited to read this but it was just so damn awful.
I highly disliked all the characters and their dynamics.
The book was also very repetitive, like we get it Fiona, you work in HR, geez please tell me about it 5 more times :(
And the twists?? Mediocre
I was really pushing through just because I got and ARC, if it wasn’t for it I would have DNF’ed

I was so excited to read this book, the cover really drew me in and the blurb sounded like the perfect winter thriller.

I loved the setting, the remote lodge in a snow storm and the family dynamic was really interesting too. It felt like just the right amount of characters. Unfortunately, I found this book very long and nothing really happened until 80% of the way through. The twists weren’t revealed very well, they were just dumped on you instead of being revealed slowly and I just found the ending a bit of an anti climax.

I think the writer was trying to do too much and book would have been better if it was a bit simpler. A really interesting concept though and a very unique narrative.

Sue Watson does it again, another dark who did it thriller about a very dysfunctional family all together to celebrate a birthday. Most of the guests can’t stand each other and after a body is found in an apparent hit and run being cut off from everywhere due to the snow may be the least of everyone’s parties. As home truths and deep seated hates spill out can anyone trust anybody. A great read from cover to cover.

This story had a good plot and several characters that I believed might be capable of murder. However, I found myself trying to get the story to move faster because I was ready to be done. It ended up being an ok read for me, but certainly not my favorite.

Angela Wilson does it again! What a great thriller, keeping me guessing from the begininng to the end. The L9dge is supeŕ surprising with secrets and keeps you guessing from the beginning to the end. The tensi9n between Danni and Fiona had me biting my nails what a unique thriller between ex wife and current wife, and then add Jenna who adds to the suspense! I liiterrally could not put this book and read it within a day! Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy!

I’m a massive fan of Sue Watson’s books so couldn’t wait to read my arc of her new novel, The Lodge. Not everyone in the Wilson family was looking forward to a long weekend in a luxurious Cornish lodge to celebrate grandma Angela’s seventy fifth birthday. A trip Angela hoped would heal their family rifts. There’s tension in the air from the start but that intensifies when they become snowed in. I loved this novel. It’s a tale of a fractured family trying to muddle along for the sake of Angela but drama is always bubbling just under the surface. There’s secrets, lies and plans for revenge aplenty and the tension builds with each turn of the page. It’s billed as a completely gripping utterly twisted thriller and it certainly lives up to that. A fabulous five star read. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

Sue Watson is an auto-buy for me, and this book had all the ingredients to keep me reading: a remote location, a snowstorm, a group of contentious people, and a murder (or two!).

I loved the descriptions of the setting in this book - a cozy cottage, the (too) warm fireplace, the steam coming off the hot tub, and the swirling snow. A nice romantic setting turned evil when Fiona's mother-in-law decides to invite her and her kids, her ex-husband, his wife, and newborn. Fiona's only going because her mother-in-law has indicated this could be her last birthday. But is that really her only motivation? And what the heck is Jenna doing there and why is she in everyone's business?

Take the time to enjoy this fast read and find out the answers!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance reader's copy.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I'm wondering if I read the same book as all the 4-5 star reviewers. Clearly this one wasn't for me. The writing felt juvenile. I get that this is not the final copy but the overuse of commas drove me crazy. I disliked every single character so much that I didn't care in the slightest what happened to any of them. Not good when you're skipping sections early on in the story. DNF'd at 40%.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley and Sue Watson for an early copy of The Lodge. I have to admit this was almost a did not finish book but I AM SOOOOOO GLAD I STAYED WITH IT!!! The beginning was a bit unbelievable and then when the cops came and how they spoke, it made me want to end it BUT all of a sudden what a turn it took. I couldn’t stop reading fast enough and the twists at the end were FANTASTIC!!! I can say I truly enjoyed this novel. STICK WITH IT, YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID!!!!

Sue’s last couple of books have been unstoppable! Angela invites her family to a lodge to celebrate her 75th birthday. This invitation list includes her son, his new wife, his ex wife, three grandchildren and a chef. Not long after they arrive the police show up about a hit and run. Then a storm traps them all in the lodge longer than expected. They all have secrets. Who is a killer? Danni’s behavior honestly was a little over the top in my opinion. But this book was well written and left me on the edge of my seat at all times. Loved it!

When going into the book I liked how it was dual POV. I did definitely prefer Fiona as a character due to the fact that I think Danni did not completely own up to her actions but I still enjoyed her POVs. It was definitely different in the sense that I’ve never seen the new wife and ex wife POVs done in a book. However, I would of enjoyed to see the other characters POVs at least once, practically Scott’s. I really enjoyed the plot and it was an exciting read that kept me on my toes. The ending had me shocked and I believe this book is definitely as exciting thriller that should be read.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m addicted. I loved the book and couldn’t stop reading it. The Lodge is filled with secrets and keeps you guessing at every turn. The only feedback I would give is I feel like The Lodge would be a much better November/December release due to the snow storm. Excellent book, I look forward to reading more books from this author.
