I will not say much as this is part of a bigger series but I have to say that this was enjoyable. I have loved this as much as the other books in the series. This author is slowly becoming a favourite author and so far I have loved most of her books. Her writing style is engaging and well paced and I have read most of her books in one sitting. They are that good. If you’re looking for a good YA romantasy with Pirates of the Caribbean vibes then this is the book for you.

Tricia Levenseller’s Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is an exhilarating return to the high seas, packed with adventure, revenge, and a splash of romance. This standalone sequel to Daughter of the Pirate King focuses on Sorinda, Alosa’s loyal first mate, as she takes center stage in a thrilling tale of her own. When Sorinda is tasked with leading a dangerous mission to rescue enslaved women and confront an old enemy, she must grapple with her dark past and learn to open her heart along the way.
The plot is fast-paced and gripping, with just the right mix of swashbuckling battles, clever heists, and emotional moments. The stakes are high from the start, and Sorinda’s personal growth is woven seamlessly into the action. The romance subplot is subtle but satisfying, adding depth to Sorinda’s character without overshadowing her independence and fierce determination.
The world-building is immersive, with vivid descriptions of treacherous seas, hidden coves, and pirate strongholds. Levenseller captures the thrill of life on a pirate ship while delving into the darker realities of revenge and justice. The camaraderie among the crew is as heartwarming as ever, and fans of Alosa will enjoy her appearances while appreciating Sorinda’s unique voice and journey.
Sorinda is a standout protagonist—stoic, deadly, and haunted by her past, yet with a vulnerability that makes her relatable. Kearan, her charming yet self-deprecating love interest, adds a lighthearted counterbalance to her seriousness, and their dynamic is both fun and heartfelt.
If you loved Seafire by Natalie C. Parker or Fable by Adrienne Young, you’ll adore Vengeance of the Pirate Queen. It’s an empowering, action-packed story of redemption, loyalty, and love, with all the high-seas adventure you could hope for.

Was ein wundervolles buch. Ich hab es geliebt es zu lesen. Ganz wunderbar. Die Welt, die Charaktere, die Geschichte-es stimmt einfach alles.

i love pirates! such a good read after the first books! gimmie more 😭 the characters are so interesting and intense!

I read 4 or 5 books by Tricia Levenseller and I liked them all. Vengeance of the Pirate Queen is my least favorite, I do not regret reading it, was fine as a stand-alone, but don't compare it to Daughter of the Pirate King, Alosa and Riden!
This is about eighteen-year-old Sorinda, who works as Alosa’s assassin and is on her journey to her task and mission.
Thank you Pushkin Press via NetGalley for ARC, I have given my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley!
As a big fan of the first two books in the series, I was so excited to get my hands on this third enstallment! With the focus shifting to Sorinda and her journey, the world feels familiar and yet totally new.
I really loved Sorinda and her character arc, especially with her relationships with her crew, and of course, Kearan. She is a fabulous main character, and it was awesome to get her backstory and her thought process.
I do feel that the first half of the book was stronger than the second, when we met the main villain on the island, as he wasn't totally compelling to me. I wish we had built up to him a bit more, and had more background because he never seemed fully fleshed out. The Drifta as well, I was never totally sure what was going on there, and then they were either <spoiler> killed or suddenly cool with our pirates </spoiler>.
However, overall, I really enjoyed this book (and the hints to Alosa and Riden), and would recommend even if you didn't read the first two but are looking for a pirate adventure! Four stars.

Vengeance of the pirate queen continues the adventures in the world of the seas.
We have Sorinda, an assassin who must complete a mission for the pirate queen.
This will by no means be easy, but once on the high seas, it is never all plain sailing.

3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much to Pushkin Press and NetGalley for an e-arc of this book.
Whilst I enjoyed returning to this world the book fell a bit flat for me.
It all seemed to happen pretty quickly, like a lot of nothing/no build up, then suddenly here is this villain.
The romance was a bit contrived as well, I definitely was in no way invested in it.
Not bad, but not the best I have read from this author.

I got this through both @netgalley and @allenandunwinnz, and a big thanks to both! If you like Pirates of the Caribbean paired with White Walkers, then this is for you! From the very first chapter, this was giving me exactly what I wanted. While it's a spin-off to Daughter of the Pirate King, it doesn't really reference events from there (and thank gosh because I can't remember those lol). It does carry over characters, but you get to know them again within this story. The assassin vibes were ON POINT. The setting was PERFECT, it's a proper pirate story rather than them just being on a boat for a bit of time. I mean the opening quote is 'if you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it' for crying out loud. Anything that quotes PotC is a winner in my books. I can really tell the growth that Levenseller's gone through as a writer since the end of Daughter of the Siren Queen and this was a 5 star, it'll be one I recommend for a long time to come.

I absolutely adored the duology of Daughter of the Pirate King and was so excited to be back into this world.
However recently I've been really struggling to read books set in the same worlds as some of my favourite books especially if it's been years since I read the original series. While I could re-read the duology I honestly don't have time to do so and unfortunately I just struggled to get into this one.
This sadly isn't the first book of it's kind that I've ended up dnf-ing and I think I just need to face defeat and stop picking up spin-off books

3.75 stars
I loved being back in this world and getting to know more about some of the side characters from the OG series.
It was a quick read with lots of action.
I had hoped to get a bit more out of it though, from the romance as well as from the adventure. It felt like a lot of build up for what ended up being only an okay ending.
I will read more of this author, but sadly not one of my favorite reads of the year.

I was a bit late to the game with this series but after finishing Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen in a couple of days, I knew I would love Vengeance of the Pirate Queen. It was high stakes and just all around captivating. I'm so going to miss this world.

I enjoy anything from Tricia Levenseller, and Vengeance is no exception. I'm glad to have returned to the world of the Pirate Queen and to actually have a morally grey character, an assassin that you actually see killing someone! I hope we see more from this world and its characters!

I was super excited to pick this up, it definitely did not disappoint! I had a lot of fun reading it and would definitely recommend it to others.
I really enjoyed these pirate books as a whole, it felt very Pirates of The Caribbean, full of dangerous missions and romance!
This book was super fast-paced and action-packed , I was fully investived the whole time and thoroughly entertained too. Every time I thought I knew where the plot was going, it when another way which kept it interesting. Also that ending! So sweet!
The characters were all really fun, I loved that we got to see a lot of the side characters again and get to know them more. I love Sorinda so much, she was fierce and I loved how we saw her walls breaking down for Kearan!
Overall, brilliant! Enjoyed every second!

This was my favourite book in the series, the MC was just perfection! From the first line in the book I was mesmerised I can’t complement this book enough. It was exciting the whole way through and the twist was just outrageous, 100% recommending this to everyone.

I have been working my way through Tricia Levenseller’s backlist and the first books by her that I picked up was The Daughter of the Pirate King and The Daughter of the Siren Queen so when I heard about this book I knew that I would have to read it, ideally straight away but that didn’t end up having for multiple reasons, however I did recently decide to finally read it and loved doing so.
Vengeance of the Pirate Queen follows Sorinda, Alosa the pirate queen’s most trusted assassin, who has been trusted to captain a dangerous rescue mission and when the King of the Undersea is awoken and wants to claim her, she realises just how bad of a situation her and her crew are in.
Tricia Levenseller is fast becoming one of my favourite YA fantasy authors and this was just as good as I anticipated it to be. This followed some great strong characters, some great pirating and a world I love to explore and I could not put the last 35% down.
Throughout the story we follow Sorinda’s perspective which we have not previously followed during the series but she was a character that I loved learning more about and discovering her secrets as we progressed through the story and got hints but didn’t quite know what had happened until it was all revealed. She’s a character with lots of secrets and things that have happened in her past that have a major impact on who she is and why she makes the decisions she makes.
While I knew that I love Alosa and Riden before starting this story I wasn’t sure about Sorinda and Kearan but over the course of the story I grew to really like them and want the best for them. Sorinda was a character who as I learned more about I grew to like more as I understood her more. I started out being unsure of her but slowly that changed and I liked her as a character, and I don’t think that would have happened if we hadn’t learned more about her in the way we did. Kearan on the other hand I liked from the start and enjoyed learning more about and understanding his actions that we saw in the original two books but didn’t know what caused them. I also liked meeting new pirates and characters who we didn’t already know at the same time as seeing many characters who we already knew from Alosa’s crew including young Rosalyn who I think is maybe my favourite character in the entire book.
I loved the pirates and characters as previously mentioned along with discovering more of this world and parts that were previously unknown to both us and the characters. The Alosa and Riden cameos were great to see because I love that they now have their happy ending and seeing them was just great. I love pirate books and this was pirating at its best. Tricia Levenseller’s characters are always well-written and I find it easy to fall in love with them, this being no exception. After how the previous two books rely on each other and are a series that you need to read one after the other, it was nice to read a book that fits more as a companion book and doesn’t depend on having recently read any books to understand it. I don’t think I loved this as much as I did Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen, which was possibly partly due to not being as invested in the characters as I am Alosa and Riden but that has nothing to do with something that could have been improved and more due to my personal preference.
I would recommend this book as much as I would any other Tricia Levenseller that I have previously read and this has just again proved that I need to read more of her books off of my TBR. It is a fantasy book that has me easily invested and wanting to read more which I always love. An easy 4.5 star read and I look forward to picking up a copy of the paperback.
Thank you to Netgalley and Pushkin Press for a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series! This is easily one of my favourite series, and I loved getting to know different characters in this book. The characters are all very likeable and fun to read about. The storyline was very interesting in this book, and I found it hard to put down. There were so many tense moments, I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I’m really hoping there’s more books to come for this series, as I’d love to keep reading about these characters!

'Eighteen-year-old Sorinda is a deadly assassin with a reputation to match. But her latest assignment is like no other. The pirate queen, Alosa, has tasked her with captaining a handpicked crew on a dangerous rescue mission, and her sailing master is none other than the infuriating Kearan.'
When a book starts with an 18-year-old assassin taking out a whole house's worth of people you know a book is going to be different! The main characters are ones we have previously met in the Daughter of the Pirate King novels. Sorinda is young and emotionally closed off to the rest of her crew. This book follows her first foray into captaining and learning that trust can be given without being hard fought. Kearan was introduced to us in the previous books as a drunk but he has since stopped the drinking and is trying to get himself back on the straight and narrow.
The love interest storyline grows throughout the book and is a very nice touch of slow-burn YA romance, showing it doesn't need to be all sizzle and bang but how relationships can grow over time. The first half of this book was used to develop the characters as we did not have a chance to truly meet them in the initial duology, but the second half is really where the action is. Plenty of swash-buckling fun with pirates sea monsters and the unforgiving sea. This book was a great little quick read that I zoomed through!

There's every few books I'm willing to drop everything for but the Pirate Queen series will always be one!
I loved reading Vengence of the pirate queen and it was awesome to get the perspective of Sorinda.
Lovely read, and I hope we get a 4th in the series soon!

Loved the first 2 books of the series but had to DNF this book. Maybe I need to give it another try but it just didn’t have the same sparkle the first 2 did.
