this is the tragic tale of I've outgrown this series. unfortunately I had to DNF. I struggled to suspend my disbelief for this series to continue. but I'm sure for those it's intended for it's a great book.

I discovered Tricia Levenseller when The Daughter of the Pirate King was initially released. So when I found out that this series was being continued/added to with the release of Vengeance of the Pirate King, I was absolutely thrilled.
The newest instalment in the series gave me the same feelings and emotions, as the previous two. Vengeance of the Pirate Queen follows Sorinda, assassin of Alosa, The Pirate Queen; her newest mission being not one of murder, but to captain a rescue mission.
The chemistry with Sorinda and Kearan was electric - with Sorinda supplying the generally grumpy, badass persona that made her an absolutely amazing MC. While Kearan was definitely a sweet, cinnamon roll; i.e. the perfect mmc. The relationship between these characters developed in a good pace - avoiding the insta-love trope typically seen in YA novels.
I love this series so much and despite being a tad nervous when I saw that the series was continuing (particularly given how much I LOVED the first two) I was not disappointed and would highly recommend!

Final book in the series, an excellent wrap-up! I first got into Tricia Levenseller via "The Darkness Between Us" (which I read in like 6 hours which is a best for me), and loved every second I spent in the world she weaved. Here I am again, reading a pirate story from this lovely author, keep writing!

Having adored the first two books in this series I was so excited to delve back into this world with Alosa and her crew!
Following on from the original duology, this book follows assassin Sorinda embarking on her first mission as captain. Sorinda really is such a great character and the development of her character, alongside some old and new favourites really is fab in this book.
Unfortunately I found it difficult to feel quite as invested in this story compared to the original two and the plot fell a little flat is comparison.
If you enjoyed the other books I would still recommend it as an enjoyable read!

An absolutely fun continuation and romp to this world. This is the installment I didn't know I needed but I did need it. I loved seeing previous characters , especially Alosa but Sorinda dominated this story well.

I really enjoyed Tricia Levenseller’s Daughter of the Pirate King and Daughter of the Siren Queen so I was really intrigued to return to this world and these characters. The story follows Sorinda, the Queen’s assassin, who is sent on a rescue mission to find a missing ship. Queen Alosa has handpicked the crew that will accompany Sorinda, including sailing master Kearan. Sorinda finds him insufferable, but she will have to put up with him nonetheless. When the crew travel into uncharted waters they find something much darker than they expected and their rescue mission becomes a fight for survival, but will they all make it out alive?
This was such a fun and engaging read! It had all the elements I loved from the first two books. It was fast paced and full of action and adventure. If you love pirate stories this series is definitely one to pick up. It was really nice to be back with characters we met in the previous books and we do get a few glimpses of Alosa and Riden. This is very much Sorinda and Kearan’s story though and I really enjoyed seeing them grow as the story progressed. Sorinda is a really fascinating protagonist, someone who has been so affected by the trauma of her past. I thought her and Kearan worked really well together and I loved seeing their relationship bloom. We also get to see some other favourites from the previous books, like Roslyn and Enwen which was a nice addition.
The story is well plotted, with lots of swashbuckling and fighting. I ended up racing through this one because it was so easy to lose myself in the story. Overall it comes to a really satisfying conclusion and I would love to see Levenseller write more books in this world. If you’ve read the first two books this one is absolutely worth picking up and if you’re looking for a series to binge read, this one will keep you hooked right till the very last page.

Brilliant book that had me hooked. I had not read the previous books in the series but that did not matter as this can be read as a stand alone.
The book is a real page turner and from the start it grips you moving from assassin to pirate captain.
Sorinda was a brilliant character and I hope she will appear in other books. The whole ships crew were phenomenal. What more could you want assassins and pirates....perfect

It was such a treat to be back in the worl of our Pirate Queen Alosa and her pirates.
Sorinda is such an interesting character who we see grow immensly throughout this book.
I love the relationships between the character.
A fast paced book, which is one of the things I like about Tricia Levenseller's writing style.

Was a really good book I really enjoyed it. Definitely matched the vibes of the first two books. I enjoyed the adventure of it, and how she sails a brigantine which is my favourite type of ship. It’s a perfect book for lovers of pirates and adventure. I was drawn to this mainly because of the first two books but also because I enjoy playing a pirate game online which this book gave me similar vibes.

Well, what can I say except I absolutely loved this book.
When I read the original Daughter of the Pirate King duet, I wondered what Sorinda's story was, and I'm glad we got to learn more about her in this book. I also loved seeing Alosa and Riden again, even if only in a few brief scenes.
As the Pirate Queen's assassin, Sorinda works hard and always keeps herself hidden in the shadows - just the way she likes it. To see her open up and create both friendships and a relationship was lovely, and I really enjoyed seeing her character develop and grow over the course of the book.
Kearan and Sorinda are a great match and I loved seeing it all unfold.
This book has everything you'd want from a pirate tale: pirates, fighting, deserted islands, sailing, legends, mythical creatures and more!
I hope we get another book from this world in the future.

Priates of the Caribbean meets Game of Thrones The Night King. Sprinkled with a touch of Disneys Tangled.
I was dubious going into this book after finding out it wasn't with Alosa and Riden as the main characters.
But it was excellent. New and old pirates coming back and making an adventure.
The first 40% was a touch slow but after that the pacing and action really kicked up and I couldn't put it down.
The romance building had me squealing as it was just too damn cute
But also with the drama added in.
A great addition to this series

When I saw this was a standalone for a series I already quite adored I just had to read it. And this book did not disappoint, at all.

I really enjoyed returning to this world
I love Tricia Levensellers writing, all her books are wonderful. I especially loved Sorinda and how tough she was. Kearan is also a total sweetheart.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Pushkin Press for giving me the chance to read Vengeance of the Pirate Queen in exchange for my honest review.
This story was amazing. I just loved seeing my favourite charasters in the Daughter of Pirate King duology again and most importantly I loved how amazing and badass Sorinda was. I love an assassin FMC with cruel and hard exterior but that is golden at heart. Her whole relationship with Kearan was making me squee and wait for the moment both of them would realise they were meant to be together and her relationship with sweet little Roslyn(she was such a sweet thing that had to be protected at all costs). The stakes were definetely raised when they arived at their destination and were faced with the King of the Undersea and it definetely added depth to Sorinda's character, which I adored.
Tricia Levenseller has done it again !Definetely a sequel you should keep your eye out for !!

I feel like this book was unnecessary. It wasn't bad by any means, it was a quick entertaining read, like all Tricia Levenseller books are. I just feel like this didn't add anything to the world that really needed to be added.
The plot was quite flat and a little ridiculous, there wasn't much chemistry between the MC and, though I read it quite fast, the story didn't really grip me. The best thing about this book was Roslyn.
2.5 stars.

“You can’t be afraid of the dark when your the light keeping the shadows at bay”
Being big fans of the original Duology Pirate King, I cant resist to dive into the spinoff series about one of Alosa's personal assasin Sorinda Veshtas. Her quiet demeanor at previous book make me dont know much about this character.
At beginning her narrative feel off. It is feel hot and cold. I can feel her ruthless and antisocial vibes but also insecurities and her emotions turmoil. But I am glad, the author brilliantly open and dig deeper into Sorinda and make us knew better about her. The romance in this book is slow burn and Kearan isn't your usually type Alpha hero. Surprisingly he is so patience, attentive and persistent enough to make Sorinda open up and let her healing her own inner wound.
The plot still offer alot actions, heist, action packed and also romance. But the best part of it is the message about self acceptance and forgiveness. Because you cant love others before you can love your own imperfect self.
Thank you to Netgalley and Pushkin Children Book from Pushkin Press for providing a copy of this ebook. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reasons to read this book
- PIRATES
- Stabby lead girl
- Spooky undead people.. if that's your thing
- Fun, fast-paced YA action
- Loveable crew
- Slow-burn romance between a hesitant lead girl and LI who's all in from the start
Reasons not to read this book
- A lead character who's in denial of her own feelings
- And then later on has a revelation that annuls her trauma in 5 seconds
- Do not read if you don't like water... but why are you looking into pirate books then?
Didn't love it as much as the original duology, but Alosa is also a queen, and it's hard to write books about secondary characters who turn into main characters.
3.7/5⭐

This was absolutely amazing.
Sorinda is Alosa’s quiet assassin. This is her story. Her change from someone that concentrates on one thing, killing for others, to someone who learns what it means to live and fall in love.
You don’t know what you lost until it’s gone.
Sorinda is assigned to travel up north to find a missing crew. (Omg the surprise she encounters in the way!) Her crew land in a remote frozen island with a group of mysterious natives guarding a powerful artifact. You will not believe what the artifact is and what this villain is capable of.

I have missed reading about this world, and to get a chance to go back and get an insight into some more of the side characters from the first books was so fun. And of course being given a chance to check in on the previous main characters as well. The storyline was wild and I’m glad it was something we’ve not seen or heard of in this world before. This is a very easy read and was a perfect book to unwind with. The characters are all very charming and easy to enjoy, and who doesn’t love pirates. Seeing the romance finally blossom in this book was definitely worth the wait as well, I’m very glad I picked up this book

Unfortunately the series is a bit too much of the nasty main female character trope that we've been seeing a lot of in YA recently.
