Thank you Netgalley for an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really love Tricia Levenseller, she writes fantasy like butter, it's so smooth and before you know it you've devoured the entire book. I really enjoyed this POV from Sorinda this time. The plot was full of intrigue, angst and adventure and it was totally blood thirsty yet hilarious (I'm looking at you Roslyn).
The vulnerability shown through the characters was heart-warming and I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire way through, the plot is unlike anything I've read before and I found that entertaining. I'm a HUGE fan of enemies to lovers and this book did not disappoint.
I totally recommend this book to EVERYONE. It's brilliant. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star for me is because the ending appeared out of nowhere and it felt cut short to me, however it was still brilliant.

I’ve been an avid follow of this series so far and anyone who loves pirates of the Caribbean and sailing on the high sea vibes, look no further. You also don’t need to have read any of the others in the series to enjoy it, as this one has a completely new character at the helm and sets the book off in a new direction. Although the other books are kick ass, would 10/10 recommend!
We’ve followed Alosa in the first two and now we get a full book with Sorinda as protagonist?!! Hell yea. She was one of my favourites and such an interesting character to follow. She’s a tough nut to crack but will Kieran manage where many others have failed?
We have a forced proximity trope, an amazing crew and a fab storyline. I also love the gender switch, here women are at the main mast, showing piracy isn’t just a man’s game.
Sorinda finds herself captaining a ship and on an important mission for the pirate queen. She’s under no illusion, she’s an assassin that likes to hide in the dark and much prefers to go unnoticed, but given her new task, she’s faced with rising to the occasion. And also, Kieran is a part of her crew and trapped on a ship with him is taking all of her self restraint - not to run a rapier through him. It certainly makes for great reading. I loved their interactions with one another and I couldn’t stop reading (and also, a feature from our favourite littlest pirate Roslyn had me all kinds of happy!).
It was an easy pick up and an effortless enjoyable read. You feel like part of their crew, sailing the waters and accompanying them on their mission. I couldn’t have loved it more! I’m so glad this was an extra addition to the series and having this spin with a new character at the forefront was great. Hopeful for more!

Was I a little bit gutted that Alosa wasn't featured in this as much as I would have liked, yes - at first. Eventually I didn't even miss her...
This is a fantastic story about Sorinda on a mission for Alosa. We find out much more about Sorinda and why she is the way she is and I just fell in love with her.
To read her development through the book felt amazing because she just deserves the best and she gets it with our lovable, former drunkard Kearan.
This is yet another stellar book from Tricia Levenseller.

"Vengeance of the Pirate Queen" is a standalone ya fantasy romance, featuring pirates, mermaids and other sea creatures, written by Tricia Levenseller and spin-off of "Daughter of the Pirate King."
The story follows 18-year-old Sorinda Veshtas, a skilled assassin working for the pirate queen Alosa. Accustomed to killing designated targets, she is surprised when Alosa assigns her the task to captain a handpicked crew on a rescue mission. Aboard the Vengeance, her sudden ship. With 20-year-old Kearan as her sailing master. He may be the best helmsman the pirate queen possesses, but Sorinda finds him a real pain in the arse. As the crew of the Vengeance faces dangerous waters and deadly sea creatures, they accidentally awaken the King of the Undersea, a being who can control the dead. Their rescue mission quickly turns into a struggle to save the world, leading to unforeseen developments.
I loved this book! Compelling, exciting and fun, it kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end! I enjoyed the "Daughter of the Pirate King" duology so much and coming back to this world, finding old characters, thrilled me a lot! The main series remains on a whole other level for me (sorry, I'm too fond of Alosa and Riden!), but "Vengeance of the Pirate Queen" is a really good title!
I love the author's writing! She had already won me over with "Daughter of the Pirate King" and here she reconfirms her skill. Captivating, bubbly and light, it captured me completely. The fast and tantalizing pace, combined with the short chapters, made it impossible for me to tear myself away from the pages. Tricia Levenseller in my opinion has magnetic prose that is easy to follow and understand. I quite enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the environments and characters, as well as the battle scenes.
The plot proceeds briskly, dynamic and lively, full of action and events. Between naval battles, sea monsters, unknown peoples and the mysterious King of the Undersea, who can control the dead, there is no shortage of adventure! The setting is interesting, but reduced to the bare minimum. I had already appreciated it in the dilogy and I reconfirm my appreciation in this book. I didn't feel the need for big explanations; what is there satisfied me amply. If in the main series we explored a bit of the Seventeen Islands, here the story moves to other parts of Maneria, to uncharted waters and inhospitable territories. To the northeast, with a setting that gets progressively more cold and wintry! Which I loved a lot! The blurb describes this title as a "Pirates of the Caribbean meets The Mummy," and I agree! References to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies abound, which, as a lover of the cinematic saga, I find delightful! And I also understand the references to "The Mummy," another film I enjoy a lot. Perhaps the ending felt a bit rushed and with some open questions, but I obviously hope for some other book set in this world (I've already made my own mental movies).
I loved Sorinda, the protagonist with her single first person pov! Eighteen-year-old Sorinda is an assassin working for the pirate queen Alosa, extremely skilled and efficient in her assignments. Serious, meticulous and gruff, she is a solitary, taciturn and reserved girl who thrives in the shadows and hates being the center of attention. Sorinda struggles to interact with people, to form relationships, accustomed to keeping everything and everyone at a distance. Except for a few trusted people, for whom she would be willing to do anything. Scarred by a difficult and painful past, behind the grumpy attitude and under the biting irony hides a sensitive soul, full of torment and insecurities. She is a complex and multifaceted character with a wonderful characterization and a beautiful path of growth! She had already intrigued me in "Daughter of the Pirate King", but here, with her pov, she won me over!
Kearan, in turn, is a really cute character that I loved! The 20-year-old Kearan is a very skilled sailing master assigned to accompany Sorinda on her rescue mission. Robust and mighty, he is a chatty, wry and observant boy. Patient, caring, prudent and loyal, he warmed my heart! Those who have read the duology know that Kearan has had his own problems in the past and is still haunted by painful memories and thoughts. He is a sweet and kind character whom I have grown very fond of! Riden remains unbeatable for me, but Kearan knows his stuff! The only "flaw," if you can call it that, is the lack of his pov!
The relationship between Sorinda and Kearan was so sweet! Delicate, subtle and discreet, it consists of small gestures, fleeting glances and a few soft words here and there. It is a full-blown slooow burn that made me sweat so much! Sorinda initially dislikes Kearan, his attention, the way he seems to understand her and especially see her wherever she hides. She tries to ignore him, or treat him badly, with funny situations and tasty banter. Kearan is always there, one step behind, ready to accept all her comments and various attitudes with great patience. I enjoyed the building of their relationship, the way they slowly begin to understand and support each other, talking about various problems and dealing with different situations. Their relationship is different from that of Alosa and Riden, less sizzling in some respects, but still very enjoyable. Okay, Alosa and Riden remain my favorites, but Sorinda and Kearan are super cute!
The secondary characters convinced me! I was happy to find some old acquaintances again, including little Roslyn. I love the found family that is created among the group, as well as the interactions and dialogues between the various characters!
All in all, this is a beautiful spin-off within the world of "Daughter of the Pirate King," which I absolutely recommend!
Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
