I’ve never read a book by Jill Mansell before but after finishing this one I’ll certainly read more. Not my usual genre but I loved this one. I listened to the audio version of it and the narrator Rebecca Norfolk did an excellent job. This is a lovely easy read so perfect for summer holidays . Great characters and a really good story. Definitely a feel good read.

I have read all of Jill Mansell's books and really enjoyed this one. I look forward to the next one.

What a hoot of a novel!

I have read other books by this author and every time i reach the end I know she will entice me back for more- in the next book.

I was utterly invested in Lottie and Max from the first wedding, I was rooting in their connection immediately, although the author did keep us on our toes for a bit!

In the second story my heart was truly held throughout. Ruby was feisty, determined and when a girl like that is wronged, I want to be right by her side, sorting everything out.

I whooshed through this book while on a family holiday, ignoring husband and children alike. Well done.

As always Jill's The Wedding of the Year was a much needed boost - witty and heartwarming with beautifully carved characters

Another fantastic read from one of my favourite authors.
Set on the beautiful Cornish coast, Max and Lottie met at a friend's wedding after 15 years. They were just starting a relationship as teenagers, when events beyond their control your their families apart.

Freya is Lottie's best friend and engaged to Cameron, who she doesn't love. She feels she owes him everything after he donates an organ to his mum, she is determined to steer him into leaving her before their wedding day.

A really lovely book, I couldn't put this down.

I haven't read all of Jill's books, but the ones I have read are simply splendid and so I was thrilled to read her new one. I can always count on her books to be uplifting and cosy and very human.

If you're like me, you will lose all concept of time reading this. You'll be sat there with a big smile on your face, and before you know it, you'll be at the end, it's gloriously relaxing to escape to.

Not many of my relatives or friends are big readers, and what they do read isn't always to my taste. And yet no matter who asks me, I always recommend Jill Mansell. I'm not sure anything can go wrong with one of hers. Having said that, I'm not sure if it's something for the male reader. I could be completely wrong, I don't know many men who are big readers, so for all I know they may love her too. But as a woman, I'm saying her books are always a perfect choice.

There a secrets a plenty, and as a reader, we are trusted with knowing them all, even if the characters don't, which was nice, and it was fun finding the bit where they find out and you can be like "I knew it!" It was a little bit of fun.

Whilst there's nothing wrong with a happily-ever-after romcom - in fact, some of my favourite books I would put in that genre - but I always find that whilst Jill's books might be promoted that way, they're not quite that simple (and I don't use the word simple here as an insult). Yes there is romance, and some humour, but I always find her books quite powerful and they touch on a variety of quite difficult topics. In this one you get relationship difficulties, affairs, old friends, new starts, fighting, enemies, fertility etc. They can be quite hard to read but I think they add that level of humanity to the story.

It is set in a gorgeous little Cornish town and I loved it. I love Cornwall, it is so gorgeous and has this special magic about it, and I think Jill has depicted it marvellously.

I loved the characters. There are quite a number, but I'll just mention the ones that felt most important to me:

Firstly we have Lottie, one of the main protagonists. I wasn't too sure of her to begin with. Not that I didn't like her, but I didn't dislike her either, I just didn't really have any firm thoughts about her. She was a slow burn for me, but she soon became a friend.

Then we have Freya, Lottie's friend. She felt like the opposite of Lottie, the perfect foil, something to work against. She came in with a bang right from the off, and then continued to pop in and out of the story. I really liked her instantly.

The main male character was Max, Lottie's school friend. We don't know much about him to begin with, but he's such a suave, charismatic guy, and whilst I think he could have been quite slimy, I really liked him, he was cheeky and charming.

Our other main protagonist is Ruby, the Vicar's wife. And she was absolutely fabulous. She is such a strong woman and I fell in love with her almost straight away and I was really invested in her story. If anything, I'd say I was more invested in her story than anyone else's.

I predict another success for Jill, and if you're after a light-hearted, beautiful, tense, loving, human, very real, gorgeous read, then this is the one for you, no matter the time of year, but it's perfect for the cold dark days of January.

Jill Mansell can always be relied on to make you want just a little bit more. I always become so absorbed in her characters' lives that I finish the book knowing that I am going to miss them. This book was no exception. Although Lottie and Max are the main characters there are no fewer than four romances and a whole cast of extras. So if you want to laugh out loud at 4am I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

Enjoyed this one.. four main characters, all with very different stories. Didn't think it was quite Jill Mansells usual style and it took me a while to get in to it. Had to concentrate quite hard as it jumped about a bit but it was generally a good read.

I wasn’t crazy about this one unfortunately 😢 I usually absolutely love Jill Mansell’s books but something about this one felt different to her usual style…it really lacked the warmth and the likeable characters.

This book focuses mainly on four female characters - Lottie, Ruby, Freya and Iris. The book starts on Freya’s wedding day. Lottie is one of her best friends and is in attendance. And Iris and Ruby end up crashing it and ultimately being responsible for it being called off as they reveal that the vicar due to be marrying them (Ruby’s husband) has been having an affair.

Freya spends the whole book trying to get her husband to fall for someone else as she doesn’t actually want to marry him but feels duty bound to - I found this a bit weird? Massive lack of communication!! I did like Lottie BUT I just didn’t buy into her romance with Max which was a shame. I liked Ruby but in my head I could not picture her - and that’s ultimately because of the way she was written. Couldn’t warm to Iris at all.

I think overall the plot felt unrealistic. It gave me major soap opera vibes and that’s not what I was expecting. It felt silly and vacuous and I feel really mean saying this but I have absolutely LOVED some of Jill Mansell’s other books and this one just fell massively short for me.

I enjoyed this book, I think it's the first Jill Mansell I've read but I will be checking more out. I enjoyed all of the stories and outcomes in this book.

Amazing book!
I was thoroughly engaged throughout this book and I didn't want to put it down! The author captured my attention from the get go! Five stars from me :)

Pure Jill Mansell magic - big cast, over the top happenings, story starting somewhere and ending nowhere close to where it began, a rollicking ride along the way...
However, it sometimes fell flat in this book. I wasn't exactly compelled to follow the characters' journeys, not like in her earlier books (best to say I was asking myself 'Why should I really care?' throughout, and especially around the start). Still, it's a good one to while away a weekend or a holiday break

What a great ending! This was truly adorable. Well written. Heart melting. Beautiful characters. I loved it.

A cosy, gentle read which is thoroughly enjoyable. Plenty of fun, romance and scheming. Perfect read for any occasion. The storyline compromises of several strands which are skilfully woven into overall story. I loved it!

Thank you Netgalley
