Wow how have I not read a book by Mansell yet. Book 39 and now I read my first.
Character packed story. One of the best starts to a book I’ve had in a while. A great read to get me back into reading in 2024.
I feel like there could be room for a sequel. Will definitely be adding more Mansell to my TBR
Jill Mansell NEVER disappoints. I don’t know how many years I have been waiting for the next book with excited anticipation, but it must nearing 20. Gosh.
Set in Cornwall and following the lives of a few residents, I enjoyed every twist and turn of this expertly written tale. Every character had their tale beautifully sewn up, and some got their comeuppance when the time was right.
I would love a spin off/ sequel for the vicars wife, Ruby. She was my favourite character, with a brilliant outlook and attitude. Can we have a ‘What Ruby did next book?’ please?! Hopefully if there is another book set in the same area, we will get some snippets of Ruby.
This one has lots of mentions of local towns and cities, so I enjoyed the odd mention of the place my granny lived and the city I’m from. Why is it that just the mention of a place you know gives that extra smile as a reader?!
A wonderful cast of characters, lots of drama and romance in a gorgeous Cornish setting, interweaving three women’s stories.
Loved the dramatic to the story - a wedding that is most definitely not going as planned.
It’s funny, heartwarming and sweet without being twee.
Bring a bit of sunshine ☀️ to your miserable January
Thanks @jillmansell, @headlinebooks & @netgalley for cheering my miserable January
Another first class book from Jill Mansell, you really can't go wrong with a Jill Mansell book. Great characters, brilliant plot. Totally recommend. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
The Wedding of the Year is pure Jill Mansell gold, with all the warmth we have come to expect from the queen of romance.
Lottie and Max have history; from being playground adversaries to an ill fated teenage romance, and not seeing each other for years. But now a chance encounter at a wedding has thrown them back together - can their romance be rekindled?
Elsewhere, Freya and Cameron are getting married but Freya isn't too keen. Plus Ruby is married to vicar Richard but what secrets is he hiding?
The Wedding of the Year is a great antidote to a cold wet winter and is guaranteed to make you feel all warm inside.
I love Jill Mansell books – they never disappoint, and this book is of no exception.
There are a lot of characters – but all are well defined, and I didn’t get confused once. They’re all well characterised and didn’t get mixed up, which can so easily happen when they’re intertwined in a story.
The story is set around a quaint small Cornish village and starts at the wedding of Freya and Cameron, where the wedding is stopped by one of the villagers to accuse the reverend of having an extra-marital affair. From there we go on to follow the stories of Freya & Cameron, Ruby, Lottie and Max.
A really lovely heart-warming read which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone who wants an easy flowing, feel-good, light read.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been reading Jill Mansell books for thirty years but there is a very good reason as they are always entertaining reads with interesting characters. The wedding of the year takes place in Lanrock, Cornwall with a wedding at the beginning that has repercussions for different people at the wedding from vicars wife Ruby to wedding guest Lottie their lives will probably not be the same again. Loved it
This has been an absolute pleasure to read, the characters soon felt like friends and I became invested in all their storylines. As well as a fair bit of romance happening between them there were quite a few comedic moments and I have turned the last page with a smile for how it all turned out but also a little sad that it has ended and I have to say goodbye to them.
This was the second Jill Mansell that I have read, I am going to have to find some of her other books now I have remembered how good they are!
One of the best books in this genre I’ve read in a while.
The unusual storyline following the ups & downs of the love lives of a number of characters really kept my interest from beginning to end. Great writing had me thoroughly engrossed in each character’s lives, sharing all their experiences from the funny to the emotional.
I haven’t read many of Jill Mansell’s books prior to this one, but I’m going to have to read her back catalogue of books while awaiting the next.
A thoroughly enjoyable book & a perfect holiday read.
Another stunning book by Jill, wonderfully written. Lovely range of characters and plot, penned in Jill's expert way. Loved it!
I've always been a fan of Jill's writing but this one I personally thought fell a bit flat. Set in a fictional small town called Lanrock, Cornwall - the story explores love, friendship, second chances and hidden secrets.
On the day of Freya and Cam's wedding, the vicar is exposed by his wife (and cleaner!) for having an affair with the headteacher of the local school. This sets off a cascade of events to happen, which either make or break couples.
However, with quite a few couples in this story and many POVs, Jill seamlessly manages to write each one with ease. Although I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would, I still enjoyed it nonetheless and was hooked into reading more - just to see if every couple got their HEA! 🩷
Thanks to Netgalley, Headline and Jill Mansell for an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

Lots characters made this a complicated story at the start but once I figured out who was who, it developed into another great Jill Mansell story. Loved it and five stars from me.

I really enjoy Jill Mansell’s warm hearted novels and January is the perfect time to be transported to the Cornish setting of The Wedding of the Year. The novel opens at the wedding of Freya and Cameron where we are introduced to the other main female characters. There’s Lottie, who meets Max who she hasn’t seen for 13 years, Ruby, a children’s writer married to Peter the local vicar and Iris who discovers the secret that will change the lives of the women.
It took me a while to get into the novel as I found it difficult initially to differentiate between all the characters and there seemed to be too much going on. However I persevered and the characters and their stories fell into place. I enjoyed some storylines more than others and was particularly drawn to Ruby and when the narrative moved away from her I was keen for it to return. I was intrigued by her marriage to a vicar and its breakdown and I feel that this would have been a more satisfying novel if it focussed solely on Ruby. I wasn’t invested in Lottie and Max’s relationship and found myself irritated with their annoying behaviour towards each other.
I loved the setting and really felt transported to a small community in Cornwall.
A mixed read for me but this still had the author’s characteristic warmth and well drawn characters.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity read and review this digital ARC.
3.5 stars.
Such a lovely heartwarming book, with twist and turns with lots of smashing characters who just make this book so good!
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down and it was yet again another amazing Jill Mansell book!

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I’ve loved reading this book.
The characters in this story are coming to terms with various issues, that happen around a wedding.
The characters were relatable and the twists along the way, you don’t see coming.
I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC
I haven't read a Jill Mansell book in a while, but she hasn't lost her touch. A heartwarming collection of stories of a group living in a small town in Cornwall, relationships form, dissipate and flourish in this amazing book.
Another great read from Jill Mansell .From the start this was well-written, with a lovely story of friendships, and great characters.
I highly recommend it if you are looking for a bit of escapism
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC
Refreshing and a fantastic read.
Lottie and Max are destined to be together or are they? With so many obstacles in their way how can they find their happy ever after. A wedding that’s dosnt plan out and a vicarious in disgrace this book has it all to keep you guessing and laughing all throughout.
Excellently written from so many perspectives as usual Jill Mansell dosnt disappoint
A light-hearted read about a group of women who all live in a Cornish village called Lanrock. The book focuses on these women and the problems and difficulties they face in their love lives. Will they all live happily ever after? Will things work out in the way you expect?
I loved the characters introduced in this novel, and the issues they face are all different but realistic in todays world.. This is a great story which kept me reading and wanting to find out how things would work out. There was a little surprise right at the end, and the author did a good job to keep me guessing!
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable book!
