Jill Mansell sits very high among the authors that I rate. Her new novel - The Wedding of the Year opens with Isla and Cameron's wedding. Although, this wedding doesn't go to plan - the vicar is having an affair with a headmistress!

There are multiple stories that weave their strands with each other such as Lottie and Max who are reunited after being parted as young lovers - can they rekindle their love or will the reason they were parted as teenagers keep them apart? Will Isla and Cameron make it down the aisle and will Ruby bounce back from her adulterous husband's affair?

Mansell has a way with words and each of her novels is entertaining but thought-provoking - The Wedding of the Year is set to be another sure fire winner!

I’ve always been a big fan of Jill Mansell and this one didn’t disappoint.

Such a feel good read, the characters were relatable, there was humour, unexpected twist and obviously some romance.

Each character brought something to this read and loved that they all had a connection each other which made it really easy to become emotionally invested.

Great book, really enjoyed it.

This is the most unusual wedding story with so many twists and turns. A bride uncertain if she loves her husband to be, the vicar having an affair, the heroine returning to rediscover a teenage romance..... all the ingredients for a cracking good escapist read all set in the beautiful county of Cornwall.

This is an entertaining read of intertwining stories. 3 women, all with different relationships and their issues. It's funny, emotional and real with just the right amount of storytelling flair thrown in. I enjoyed the characters and the setting but did feel like it took a while to get going/ for you to warm to the characters..

What a wonderfully whimsical five-star read. This was just a great story, it was a little fanciful, but so what I read to relax and get taken to a different place, and this does exactly that. I have been a log time fan of this author and love how no matter what I pick up by them I won’t be disappointed. There are so many wonderful characters in this story that I would struggle to pick a favourite, but I have to admit that Iris really warmed my heart. There is drama a plenty, and sweet, sweet moments that will warm even the coldest of hearts. Relax, read and enjoy the story, it will sweep you up and wrap you in a hug.

I absolutely love Jill Mansell and was so excited to be approved to read and review.

We have three stories in one here following the lives of Lottie, Isla and Ruby, the ups and downs, the highs and lows of their live lives.

This just flowed brilliantly and I loved the ladies, I really felt for Ruby!

Jill's books are addictively brilliant. I have loved all the ones I have read and this one is no different.

A perfect escapism read. I loved it. Now I’m awaiting the next book Jill Mansell writes.

I love Jill Mansells books so when I got the opportunity to get an ARC of The Wedding of the Year I jumped at the chance.
All the usual key ingredients were there: great relatable characters (both good and bad), humour, unexpected twist, romance, amazing locations, so a thoroughly enjoyable read. So why only 4 stars? For some reason I didn't get as emotionally invested in the MCs as I would expect. I think it may be just me, or possibly there were just too many stories going on for me to keep up.
Regardless I'd still strongly recommend this book.

A fantastic story with the perfect mix of interesting characters.

I have enjoyed Jill Mansell’s books in the past and so I was immensely pleased to be given the opportunity to read and review ‘The Wedding of the Year’.

This was a book about people; about an eclectic melange of characters. About falling both in and out of love, marriage, hope and despair. To me this book was like an indulgent cake, with just the right number and type of ingredients. A cake that once I started it, I couldn’t wait to consume it, as quickly as possible.

I loved how all the characters seemed to be connected, and the further I got into the book, the greater those interdependencies became. Actually keeping track of who’s who and how they are related must be a major task in itself and full credit to Jill Mansell for achieving these affiliations so seamlessly and with minimal apparent effort.

I immediately took to Ruby; the start of the hook was bathed in irony, at her expense. I could fully understand her wanting to get away for a bit. It’s bad enough living in a village where everyone knows everything about everyone, but when you add in the exceptional variable of being the errant vicar’s wife……. Unfortunately we gave Peter the benefit of the doubt, having not the slightest inkling that he was a serial philanderer (it seemed such an impossible notion, considering what a self righteous twit he appeared to be)!

It’s said that every cloud has a silver lining, and Richard certainly seemed to be a Ruby’s silver lining – or maybe even golden! Ruby had always accepted Peter’s opinion on their childless state, despite appearing to love children. When she is overcome with nausea for the second time, is it really the smell of goats cheese, or has Ruby’s dalliance with Richard resulted in proof of whom, out of Peter and Ruby, had the fertility issue? Peter of course had refused any investigations. Serendipity also seemed to be playing its hand with Lottie too, with a surprise reunion with her old ‘friendversary’, Max. Of course they misspent so much of their youth teasing each other, that it was conveniently masking their true feelings for one and other. Alas the pair seem to be bound by some kind of 21st century Romeo and Juliet-esq style boundaries. If they were going to become a permanent item, they would have to come clean to both their families at some point! And Max’s ex Lois – nobody needed a reality check more than her; I just hoped that she wasn’t going to cause trouble for Max and Lottie, when Max finally looks as though he might settle for one woman!

As for Freya – what is going on with her; is she really relieved at the outcome of her ‘wedding day’ to the hunk that is Dr Cameron? It felt as though their relationship had been a self-perpetuating affair…..the more people told Freya how wonderful he was and what a great couple they were, the more she started to believe it, and Cameron certainly does have an ego the size of a planet! When they became bound together in a renal sense, it really did seem as though Freya’s future was set in super glue. I get the impression that her plan to try and get him to fall in love with another woman and break things off himself, will only end in tears. When she was thinking about it, my inbuilt jealousy detector was working overtime! It seems a bit of a theme throughout book – not appreciating what you have got, until you no longer have it – at which point, the ‘contrary monitor’ makes you desperately want it more than ever. I just hoped that neither party would end up hurt.

Iris the cleaner was certainly a formidable, yet loveable character, but would she eventually gel with the devoted Drew? It was so lovely to see how he stuck up for his adulterous elder Sister, despite her cheating extracurricular activities. (Not of the After School Club kind)! Iris and Drew certainly had that kind of inbuilt loyalty in common.

Margaret was wronged by Peter, but ultimately seemed a lot more down to earth than that original persona she projected. She was most certainly a good deal less frumpy than originally portrayed.

In all, as I said, this collection of characters quite simply made for the perfect mix, and a book that at didn’t want to put down. Of course I made the rookie error of starting to read this epic tale shortly before bed time, and then ended up being awake all night, thinking about what was happening in the book, and sneaking the odd chapter every now and then, telling myself that if I read just one more chapter, I would sure get to sleep! Alas no!

Things start to go wrong at Isla and Camerons wedding when the vicar is suddenly called away, Isla feels guilty that she is relieved and starts an escape plan. Lottie is startled to see her long lost love, Max, amongst the wedding guests she hasn't seen him since the day their world fell apart and he moved away. Intricately planned story with several intertwining threads. A satisfying read.

I have said it before but I truly love Jill Mansell, one of the very first authors I picked up that made romance one of my favourite genres! Another lovely cosy book! Perfect to curl up with and devour!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book.

What a delightful read this was! Set in a picturesque Cornish village, we begin the book with a wedding. The wedding doesn't quite go to plan however, and from here we meet bride to be Freya, wedding guest Lottie and the vicar's wife Ruby. I loved these characters and their relevant storylines and really connected with them all. The location enhanced their storylines and I as read I could picture them all wandering through the village.

Whilst all three women had their own stories to tell, the book begins with them all connected to the wedding in one way or another. The storyline was so easy to read and I found it fun, light-hearted and yet emotional in equal measures. Their stories were easy to follow despite switching from one character to another with each chapter, and it flowed effortlessly. There are a lot of characters, not just the three women but their families and potential love interests, but they were all really likeable and fun. I definitely had a soft spot for Ruby and her storyline, with great pictures running through my mind with what happened with the vicar!

As like the author's previous books, this was a wonderful read with lots of humour, drama and romance. It grabbed my attention from the first page and I couldn't put it down until I'd finished. Would definitely recommend!

Another fabulous book by Jill Mansell. It begins and ends with a wedding Hard to review without spoiling it. Lots of stories in one. Lottie meets some one she knew at 17 at a wedding and it goes from there. So many good story lines. I read it in one day, could not stop. If you like romance , lots of twists you will love this. A great ending . A lovely map at the beginning. Read it.
