I haven't read a Jill Mansell book in quiet some time, but i'm sure glad I read this one,
Its a lovely mix of characters and a wonderful location in Cornwall. The characters are well written and it was very easy to get invested in the emotional journeys the 4 women went on.
I will give a more detailed review on amazon when this book is published,
I would definitely recommend this book and this author,
Lottie and Max are unexpectedly reunited at a wedding after 13 years and sparks fly, but life and love don't always go to plan.
I'm a huge fan of Jill Mansell books and did really enjoy this. I like the aspect that her books always include an ensemble of characters but I did get a bit confused when characters hadn't been mentioned for a while and then reappeared.
Another enjoyable book about friendship and love.
This is another delightful read from Jill Mansell. You always know what you’re going to get when you open one of her novels and The Wedding of the Year doesn’t disappoint. Likeable characters, with the odd bit of jeopardy thrown in, a gorgeous village crammed full of people that you’d like to meet in real life and a fair bit of ‘will they or won’t they?’ #spoiler - they most probably will! I really enjoyed it. Big thanks to Netgalley for an early copy
A lovely easy read that is exactly what we've come to know and love from Jill Mansell.
It's a happy book but I was a little disappointed as I didn't feel it had much real content. Very predictable and not very deep but sometimes that's exactly what you need. I felt like I really wanted more but it was still enjoyable as a lighthearted and speedy read.
Oh my but what absolute nonsense this was. Like an elaborate soap opera with all loose ends wrapped up in a frilly bow by the final page.
This starts off at the wedding of Freya to the saintly Cameron however before Freya can even walk down the aisle Ruby discovers her husband has been unfaithful and her reaction to this inadvertently disrupts the entire wedding… much to Freya’s relief. Meanwhile wedding guest Lottie spots Max, a face from the past, amongst the other wedding guests causing a resurgence of feelings but events from the past mean she cannot act on them.
Set in a gorgeous Cornish seaside town this does a fabulous job of intertwining the love stories of several different characters, who all have very different stories to tell, but without getting muddled by each character and their storyline. With everything from a Romeo and Juliet type situation to a very unlikely love cheat, love at first sight in unlikely circumstances and the highly amusing efforts by Freya to find a way to end her relationship this is a warm, humorous and uplifting read that I utterly loved.
I love Jill Mansell so much (well her books anyway!) I read this book in one day it was such a delight. Such vibrant, relatable characters, each with their own tale to tell
I could not put this book down from the minute I started it. It was just perfect and I loved every page.
The story has such brilliant complex characters who I just felt like I knew so well. Max was just lovely but my favourite by far was Iris. It also had some characters you just love to hate (no spoilers). There was also a mention of Daisy from one of Jill’s previous books which was a nice touch.
I liked the fact that the book didn’t just focus on one story and it focused on a few different relationships. In some books this can be confusing but their stories flowed so well and everyone was linked together.
The ending was completely perfect, after a few shocks and twists and turns along the way.
Thanks to Netgalley, Headline and Jill Mansell for an advanced copy in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.
Oh this is pure and utter perfection from Mansell. I loved every single page and word from beginning to end. I always know I am in for a treat with a new read from Mansell but this one had something a little extra that I just loved.
Firstly, the setting of Cornwall took me back to my childhood holidays and I could imagine the places Mansell was describing so vividly. Mansell's characters really are second to none and I took all of them to heart and loved everything about them and they provided plenty of laughs along the way.
Finally, the plot is simply joyous. This is full of twists and surprising encounters and I adored following all the different couples and potential couples on their journey.
This book was a real treat to read and I am only sad that I have finished it. Pure perfection.
Thank you to NetGalley and Headline for an advance copy.
Jill Mansell does it again with a feel-good romantic tale set in a lovely town. This book had me riveted to every single page! Highly recommended!
Another lovely book by jill. It is warm, cozy, and a happy, joyful book. Lottie is a guest at a wedding when she meets max again. The boy whose kiss she has never been able to forget
Now they are seeing each other again old feelings are resurfacing. Isla is married to Cameron but she didn't love him any more
But she doesn't feel like she can leave him as she feels like she owns him too much. Ruby thinks that she has the perfect life and family. Until she finds out her husband is keeping a secret. One that will change their lives forever
This was a lovely book to read. Plenty of romance and rocky trails leading to it. I particularly liked the fact that this book covered the stories of several people and each was perfectly described. Very often, a book can become a bit confusing if there are too many characters but this was definitely not the case here. I could not put this book down. Another well deserved success on the cards for Jill Mansell I suspect.
You could never go wrong with Jill Mansell. This novel finds different couples dealing with different issues all revolving around a wedding! So much fun. Her novels are always comfy, cozy, and joyful! I know this won't be an exception. I'm so excited to share my full thoughts and review very soon and please see below for a shift summary of the book.
Lottie is a guest at the wedding when she sees Max. No kiss has ever matched the last one they shared fifteen years ago. They were on the brink of a beautiful love story, until a shocking event tore them apart. Now here he is, still ridiculously good-looking, teasing Lottie in the old way - and that overwhelming electric attraction is back. But Max is way out of bounds.
Isla owes Cameron everything. But she doesn't love him. Which is a shame, because they're about to be married.
Ruby has been the perfect wife. When she discovers the truth about her husband, her response is reckless and delicious. But after that, nothing will ever be the same again.
