I loved this one, even more than Holiday Romance (who knew that was even possible!?)! Christian and Megan were both very well-developed characters and had me rooting for them til the very end. I also especially loved the connection between Christian's father and "the knitting girl." This is the perfect book to curl up with on a snowy afternoon - 5 stars!! Can't wait to read what Catherine writes next!
Thank you for this book in exchange for my honest review.
I had high hopes for this book based on its cover. Fortunately, I was right. Catherine Walsh did it again with a completely captivating story.
I loved the slowly blossoming romance between the two characters, and the multiple parts that made me laugh.
I will gladly read anything by this author.
I really loved this story. The only unfortunate thing was that family obligations and a thanksgiving holiday prevented me from finishing it earlier 😊
I love me a good forced proximity/fake dating troupe and this book did NOT disappoint. I enjoyed Christian and Megan's story together but I also enjoyed their individual stories as well. The banter in this book was top notch and I found myself laughing at their conversations with each other. A very relatable book and a warm Christmas romance to kick off the holiday season! A definite must read! 👍👍
5 stars!
I love Catherine Walsh's books so, so much. "Snowed In" is no exception. It's an endearing fake-dating romance that's equal parts cozy, charming, compelling, and engaging. This book gave me all the feels from the very first chapter. I loved the main characters, Megan and Christian. I immediately felt the chemistry forming between them, even when Megan was literally running away from her wedding. I was wholly invested in and hooked on their story from that very moment. Walsh takes the necessary, ample time to form and explore Megan and Christian's burgeoning friendship. The longer readers get to spend with them, the more invested they get. I was on pins and needles waiting for them to become more than just friends and fake lovers! Their chemistry is palpable, spicy, and addicting! Walsh's spectacular banter is also on full display in this novel as Megan and Christian start off their friendship with inside jokes and funny stories that only they would understand. I was so obsessed with the story and these characters that I finished it really quickly. And plus, the grand gesture was SOOOOOO good!! I swooned the entire time. I also loved the "finding your true self" angle where both Megan and Christian are concerned. They have both been typecast in their lives, but are actually totally different people with time and distance put between them and those stereotypes and labels placed upon them. I think this story reads very fast and isn't bogged down by unnecessary details. I loved the Irish small-town setting, especially the cabin setting that comes in later on in the book. Hubba Hubba! Another winner for Catherine Walsh!
Thank you to NetGalley, Catherine Walsh, and Bookouture for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
I absolutely loved the holiday romance but this... this was giving nothing. I genuinely can't believe that an author who wrote one of my favourite christmas book of 2022 wrote this. The characters had no chemistry, the story was all muddled up and confusing. Like I was so disappointed at how much I did not enjoy reading this. This feels like it was written by someone else.
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh is a book you never want to end! It's such a fun book with awesome characters! Megan hasn't been home since she left Isaac at the altar and ran. No one knows the real reason she left Isaac and Megan is looked down upon because of it. Christian is the one person who doesn't look down upon her for leaving Isaac. He was outside the church having a smoke when Megan came running out in a panic. They exchanged a few words and Christian never told anyone he'd seen her that day. She's dreading going home for the holidays, but promised her brother she would. Megan's brother is coming home from Australia and she really wants to see him. Christian is working in Dublin and that happens to be the same place that Megan is living and working.
Megan is on a first date at a pub her date chose. It's very crowded and loud, not the kind of place Megan would choose. She's meeting her date there and he hasn't arrived yet. He's late. As Megan is in line to get a drink, she turns holding her red wine, and spills it on the white shirt of the man behind her. When she tells the man she'll pay for the dry cleaning she hasn't even looked at him. Christian is the man with wine all over him and he tells Megan not to worry about it. They recognize each other right away and start chatting. Neither one of them can believe they ended up in the same city and have never run into each other.
Christian mentions to Megan that he's going home for Christmas and he's dreading it. They all feel sorry for him because he's alone and they all have a partner. Christian also has issues with his Dad that have gone unresolved. Megan can't believe it because she tells Christian she hasn't been back since she ran on her wedding day. She is not ready for the looks and drama that a trip home is likely to bring. Right then and there they decide to fake date each other for the holidays. They will be a support for one another at all of the family functions. A contract is written up on a napkin and signed. They will pretend to be in love through the holidays. What could go wrong?
This book will give you all of the feels and you won't want it to end! I want more of Christian, Megan, and their families! I rate Snowed In 5 stars with my highest recommendation. Snowed In is available now and should not be missed! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Snowed In in exchange for a fair review.
#SnowedIn
Have you ever finished a book that left you feeling nothing but pure joy? That's exactly how I felt when I finished this story.
Snowed In follows Megan, a runaway bride who hasn't been home in five years, and Christian, the hometown "bad boy". With Christmas around the corner, both Megan and Christian find themselves needing to head back to their shared hometown and both of them wanting to do anything but. Megan is hesitant to face the town and the man she left at the altar, and Christian is dreading inevitably being hounded by his family's never-ending questions about his personal life. A fake relationship seems to be the perfect answer, right? Megan can prove she's moved on and Christian will have a girlfriend to satisfy his family's curiosity. With rules outlined and a napkin contract signed, what could possibly go wrong? But with time, banter, and some time at a luxury cabin, feelings start to flare and the lines of that contract start to blur. It was supposed to be simple, but Megan and Christian soon come to find that love is often anything but.
This book was amazing. Everything from the witty banter to the sizzling chemistry had me squealing and smiling the whole way through. Aside from the humour, each character had so much depth to them, and I loved going on the journey of healing and growth with Megan, as she faced her fears and learnt to stand up for himself, and Christian as he faced some truths about himself and his relationship with his family. This story was heartfelt and truly beautiful.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Catherine Walsh for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. I now need to read all of Catherine Walsh’s books. This was such a cute book.
A fake dating Christmas romance. Megan and Christian are both from the same home town but meet again in Dublin. Both heading home for the holidays, fake dating suits them both, but what happens when it starts to fee real?
Last year I absolutely fell in love with Molly and Andrew in Holiday Romance, and wasn’t sure how this book would compare. I’m happy to say it far exceeded my expectations, and I loved every single second of it! Megan and Christian had the best banter, and I loved getting to watch their story unfold, while also getting more of Molly and Andrew throughout. Walsh writes magic with her Christmas novels and I’d highly recommend this if you love a good fake dating trope storyline!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!
OOOOH MY GOODNESS!
I didn't it could be possible to fall in love with a certain author even MORE!
BUT - YES that happend with me. I'm absolutely even more in love with Catherine Walsh now that I finished another perfect story of her! ❤️
Snowed In is the beautiful love story of Megan and Christian:
On her wedding day Megan realizes that... the only way to escape the biggest mistake of her life is to run away. Far far away to Dublin.
Never would she have guessed to see a familiar face in the city. Christian Fitzpatrick.
And never would they have thought a Christmas plan could lead to something else... 😘
AWWWW!
I'm not even sure where should I begin now that I finished this absolutely WONDERFUL book!
Well, I loved all the other books of Catherine Walsh before - so this wasn't a surprise!
But anyway... it's such a great feeling when you're so in love with a story you can't stop yourself!
You can't stop yourself from laughing, from swooning, from laughing some more and there were some happy tears too! 😍
Megan and Christian have a great connection and great chemistry right from the beginning!
So, of course I couldn't stop reading and I just needed to find out how their story would continue! 🥰❤️
Snowed In put me in the perfect mood for Christmas and all the happy feelings that only love and laughter and family and friends can give you! That's for sure! (And books too! LOL)
Ha! And how lovely it was to see characters from other books again!
Molly and Andrew (from Holiday Romance) were there and all the others from their families.
All the characters were so easy to fall in love with! ❤️ OMG! I laughed sooooo much about their dialogues! How they treated each other! 🥰 Perfect!
Yeah, I said it already but...
I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK! AND MEGAN AND CHRISTIAN! One of my favourite couples this year! Definitely! 😊
OMG and I didn't expect to even cry about different things in the book.
Besides being a wonderful feel-good read, there were definitely also deeper topics the characters had to deal with.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT LOVE STORY! ❤️
Thanks a lot to Catherine Walsh and Bookouture for this ARC via NetGalley.
This is my honest review in my own words.
My apologies for the delay.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun book. I enjoyed it a lot!
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh was an adorable Christmas fake faking romcom! Megan and Christian hatch a plan to fake date over the holidays to make small town Christmas with their families easier, what could go wrong! This book was cozy, cute, and quick perfect for the holidays or capturing holiday magic any time of year!
This book was amazing! If you like Hallmark Christmas movies, Snowed In is for you.
Megan is a runaway bride, and 5 years later, she bumps into Christian at a pub. Christian and Megan grew up in the same town, and when they need to both go home for the holidays, they decide to fake date, and they even draw up a contract on a napkin. Will they stick to the rules of the contract?
This book has forced proximity, MMC is very protective, it is a dual-POV, and the banter and chemistry was SO good. Also, no third-act breakup! What more could you want from a book?
The one thing I didn’t love about this book was how it took a long time to get to the reason behind the title. I wish we would’ve had more of the snowed in in the cabin.
I wish I would’ve known about Holiday Romance sooner, because the main characters in that, Molly and Andrew, make appearances in Snowed In. But I will be reading that eventually because this one was just so good.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Snowed In is the charming, less spastic follow up to one of my fave Christmas romances- Holiday Romance (scroll down my page for that review). It took me until basically the last page to realize that these two books were related to each other bc even when I love a book I immediately forget it as soon as I’m done. I’m a fickle, demented book bitch. Snowed in is a fake dating trope- which I love, but love EVEN more at Christmas bc there is no better time to scam your naive family with a fake bf/gf than the holidays. I adore fake dating bc I love knowing that the two characters are totally full of shit- these idiots fake nothing, they are in love with each other from the jump. Its so fun to watch them fall apart within their own trickery.
Meghan was a runaway bride bc her fiancé sucks balls and she had no choice but to bolt. Childhood classmate Christian helps her make a getaway. 5 years later they meet in a bar in Dublin and Meghan tries to take Christian home to get in his pants, but he instead comes up with a scheme for her to be his fake girlfriend whereas totally cockblocking her getting some action. She agrees- they go home, have cute family interactions while being fake but not fake bc they slowly fall in love. They get “snowed in” at a cabin (hence the name) and I won’t spoil it, but you know exactly what you would do if you were stuck in a house in the woods at Christmas with a hunky perfect man who is rich and can cook. You would give him your vj as a present and be his hohoho).
Anyway- I really like this delightful holiday romance. It hit all the marks- fake lovers, sick bed, swoony hero, smart and well rounded heroine, family dynamics at the holidays. It was a joy. Def recommend that you read this and its sister book Holiday Romance in whichever order you want.
Smut- 2.46 stars
Romance- 4.78 stars
Story- 4.87 stars
Duping your family at Christmas- 12.54 stars
Rom-com fiction is not my favorite genre and this book was a little two explicit for my tastes. It read like a Hallmark movie, and I would have enjoyed it as a mindless read if the sex wasn't so graphic.
I appreciate the opportunity to read the ARC
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh was fun Christmas novel that I enjoyed. This was a fake dating trope that I thought was adorable. Lots of family moments and a closeness I like to read about.
Thanks Bookouture via NetGalley.
Megan's love life is still feeling the effects of her canceled wedding. In fact, she can't even go back to her small hometown without people judging her for being a "run-away" bride. When a classmate bumps into her in Dublin and asks her to fake date him to get his family off his back, she thinks it will be the perfect way to be able to enjoy the holidays in her hometown without others gossiping as much. But does fake dating ever really stay fake?
I enjoyed this book's different family dynamics. Neither protagonist's family was picture perfect, as some romance books paint them to be. They both had quirks and past hurt and awkwardness among them. I liked that their siblings' love lives were mixed in a bit which made the families feel more realistic. Love stories don't happen in isolation. I also thought the pacing of the book, as well as the settings, were great. We spent time in both Dublin, where both main characters live, and in their small hometown.
I think there were parts of the story that felt over-written and cheesy, specifically in the last quarter of the book. I typically don't mind because it is a romance book and love can be cheesy. But some of the dialogue didn't feel very realistic and took me out of the story.
Overall, I think this is a fun book to pick up this holiday season, especially if you like the tropes of: "small-town girl returns to her home town to make things right" or "fake dating that was never quite fake".
Loved this one. Love CW’s writing. Loved the characters – and it was so good to see holiday romance characters again – loved the setting, the plot, the romance, everything. Christian stole my heart, but I loved Megan as well. It wouldn’t have hurt to be a little more snowed in/forced proximity, but the scenario we did get was big thumbs up. Huge fan. This was honestly just so squishy and wonderful and like a warm cuppa. Loved it.
I loved this book! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this book 100% delivered! It was cute and funny and I had such a good time reading it! Even though it’s only November this book put me in the Christmas spirit and I am so glad I read this book. Anyone who is looking for a Christmas romance should pick up this book!
