Thank you so much to Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for the e-book and audiobook!
This was a dual perspective, fake dating (at Christmas), heartfelt snowed-in read!
I really liked the beginning and how we got the backstory on Megan and her (left at the alter) ex-fiancé'. I think that beginning scene really set the stage and helped me care more about Megan.
I think for once the romance between Megan and Christian was actually believable, too. It didn't seem like insta-love and their reasons for falling in love seemed real and valid. I appreciated how Christian was actually a nice guy and really looked out for her even while they were "fake dating".
As far as content goes, there were a couple spicy scenes that were more detailed than I typically prefer and rather long as well, but easily skipped if that's not for you.
I think this one will be a a big hit around the holidays for sure!
I went back and forth between the e-book and the audiobook and I really liked the narrators in the audiobook so spent more timing reading it that way!
This will be available for purchase Nov 1st.
3.5 rounded to 4
This one was cute! A fast paced fake dating story. Both Megan and Christian were trying to fool their families which added a fun twist and adventure. This one had great banter and holiday charm.
I loved Molly and Andrew in Catherine Walsh's last holiday book, and I'm so glad they made an appearance in this book, but OH MY GOODNESS were Christian and Megan SO CUTE in Snowed In.
The first chapter with Molly as a runaway bride and Christian, her childhood friend, helping her escape set the tone for the book. As we flash forward to present day, "bad boy" Christian isn't as bad as we think and Megan had her reasons for running away. As they fake date to get each other through the holidays (I love this trope!), they realize that maybe it's not so fake. I appreciated that they both recognized they wanted to be more serious together at the same time.
This book was filled with equal parts laugh out loud and swoon-worthy moments, as well as self deprecation, touching family moments and just so much fun. Can I get Hannah to make me a dress for the holiday ball?!
This is such a great book to get snowed in with!!
After loving Holiday Romance, I couldn't wait to dive into Christian's book and I have to say Ms. Walsh didn't disappoint, It was such a lovely, sweet and festive read with lots going on.
We get to see what's behind Christian's difficult relationship with his family especially his father, and his struggle to feel fulfilled. Megan's been through the wringer, and both characters need the help of a fake relationship to help with their visit home. We get to see real feelings develop after their initial attraction and how Christian supports Megan with dealing with the fallout from her past as the runaway bride.
All the snow helps set the mood for a cosy Christmas read, and loved seeing Andrew and Molly and the big surprise. Also, Zoe is the best; I really want her story! I can't recommend this enough and know this is going to be a reread favourite for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy. All opinions expressed are my own and happily offered.
Synopsis
“Megan is dreading going home for the holidays. She’s the village pariah, the she-devil who left local golden boy Isaac at the altar four years ago and ran away to the big city. So when Megan literally bumps into Christian (an old classmate) in a Dublin pub, they come up with a pact to see them through the holiday season. They’re going to be the very best fake dates for each other, ever.”
My Thoughts
I quickly read this book while on vacation and loved every minute of it. I didn’t realize that Holiday Romance (which is sitting on my shelf) was the first book in the series, so I’ll have to get to that soon! I loved the characters, the main characters chemistry, the banter, and honestly, I just wished that I was a part of Christian’s family the whole time. So fun and perfect for the holiday season - definitely pick this one up!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advance Reader Copy. All opinions are my own.

5 stars for this holiday hit! I devoured this rom-com in a weekend, unable to put down the witty banter and slow-burn. Megan O'Sullivan left her fiance Isaac at the alter, making her the talk of the town. Five years later she unwillingly goes back for Christmas only after striking up a deal with Christian Fitzpatrick that they'll be in a fake relationship. Obviously sparks fly. I typically dislike the fake dating trope but the dual POV helped to make sure we knew how invested both characters were in each other.
The one liners in this book had me laughing out loud. This book takes place after Walsh's Holiday Romance - they can be read as standalone but that book was equally charming so I'd read in sequence! So happy to have read before the holiday season so I can open it back up in several weeks to enjoy it again.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC, all thoughts are my own.
I loved this holiday romcom! It had all my favorite tropes and flirty banter that had me audibly laughing out loud. I really felt for Megan on her journey back home and dealing with the life she left behind, and I loved how supportive Christian was for her the entire time. The endearing family members were so realistic and made the story feel like you really were returning home for the holidays. My favorite part of this story was it not just being fluffy romance that it had a bit of grit. The town hating Megan and having to watch her learn to stand up for herself gave this story depth that I appreciated. Thank you to Bookouture, Catherine Walsh, and Netgalley for allowing me access to this book for an honest review.
My review is on Goodreads now and I will be posting a review on tiktok November 1st for publication day!!
Cute couple alert!🚨🚨
Winter holiday or Christmas romance is just hard to beat. Even Valentine's or beach romances don't come close. There's magic in the air ✨❄️ and if you like your romance with some steam look no further! 💙☃️
Megan and Christian are old acquaintances. They last met five years ago at her supposedly wedding to Isaac but Megan's a runaway bride. Fast forward and here they are working in Dublin and by chance bump into one another at a pub. Since Christmas is around the corner both dread going home for different reasons. What better idea than to return as a "couple"?
I love fake dating and close proximity so Snowed In is a check, check. And a winter holiday and small town... CHECK and CHECK! 🎄
I enjoyed the charming MCs. It's an easy and entertaining read/listen. Because they are home, there are many characters to keep track of but the families and friends are wonderful! I only wish the snowed-in part happened a bit sooner. I waited forever until I forgot about it. 😹
Excellent narration by Roisin Rankin and Colm Gleeson. I love listening to the beautiful Irish accent. They add so much to the experience.
Thank you Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for the advance copies for review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Snowed In easily gets 5 stars from me!
Megan is dreading going home for Christmas. She has a good reason too. She’s the village pariah and is known for leaving her ex-fiancé at the altar four years ago. She hasn’t returned to town since. She found herself starting over with a new job and friends in Dublin. Her dating life hasn’t been great since she moved. She was at a local pub being stood up by a date when she ran into Christian. She knows him from their hometown. Apparently, he isn’t too eager to go home for the holiday either as he’s the only single one in his family. They come up with a pact for the holiday where they agree to fake date one another during their time back home. However, when celebrating Christmas between two families, running into her ex-fiancé, and new feelings begin things are bound to get messy.
Snowed In has:
-Witty banter
-Snowed-in cabin
-Fake dating
-Christmas magic
-Dual pov
Snowed In is a romcom that is swoony, funny, and full of the cutest Christmas moments. This is the perfect book to sit down with a cup of cocoa on a snowy day. I highly suggest adding this one to your winter tbr!
It releases on November 1st and will be available on kindle unlimited!
I received an ARC of Snowed In, by @catwalshwriter and it was everything you could ever want in a holiday romance. Out everywhere November 1st, preorder your copy today!!
I devoured this book in less than a day, such a fun, easy read. You will fall in love with Christian and Megan just as quickly as I did, their witty banter made me chuckle out loud multiple times.
Some things to expect:
🎄 holiday magic
🎄 forced proximity
🎄 fake relationship
🎄 hilarious banter
🎄 grumpy sunshine dynamic
This book is the perfect cozy holiday romance read. Enjoy 🎅🏼🎄❤️
I have loved everything I have read by Catherine Walsh, but I have a particular soft spot for her Christmas time books- so make sure you also check out Holiday Romance ✨
Such a fun holiday romance! The main characters and side characters are amazing. Maybe I’m toxic but I wanted Christian to fight Isaac. I wish the snowed In aspect of the book was a larger portion of the book, but the author allows the reader to see a development in feelings between the characters which a lot of fake dating tropes lack.
Overall such a good read and one I will be recommending to my friends who enjoy romance
A perfect cozy read for the holiday season! I loved Walsh’s ‘Holiday Romance’ last year and was so excited to get my hands on this book. This storyline isn’t anything new — a fake dating arrangement to help each other through the holidays — but it was done so well and I ate it up all the same. Definitely recommend adding this one to your holiday reading list this year!
Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for the ARC!
For anyone who enjoys runaway bride / fake dating / friends to lovers stroylines, Snowed In should definitely be added to your tbr.
Both Megan and Christian are returning to their home town to celebrate Christmas. Both have reasons to 'mislead' their families.
With the, oftentimes, hilarious banter I associate with Catherine Walsh, Christian and Megan navigate family gatherings both singly and together, just trying to survive the holiday period.
However, it wouldn't be a romantic comedy if things didn't take a more intimate turn. Megan and Christian are so funny together and obviously their initial attraction grows.
Long held secrets are revealed with our two main characters stepping up to support the other. Eventually though, not able to help themselves, the cold wintery temperature increases with the energy they create.
Snowed In is a hilarious fake relationship romcom that will lead the reader into the holiday season full of Christmas spirit and joy.
An easy 5 stars!
I loved everything about this cozy, Christmas-y, fake-dating romance! The setting, the medley of characters, and the romance were all well-developed and the author's writing, especially her dialogue, was top-notch. I loved that the characters had depth and were dealing with realistic issues, like family drama and past relationships. And the best part? No third act breakup! Now that I know this is the second in a series, I will definitely be going back to read Andrew and Molly's story along with Catherine Walsh's other books. I highly recommend you pick up Snowed In this holiday season!
In the heart of Ireland, where the rolling hills echo with tales of old, this Christmas romcom weaves a story that tugs at the soul. The characters, like old friends, find their way into your heart with every laugh and every tear. The Irish backdrop isn't just a setting; it's a living, breathing presence that envelops you in its magic, making you long to walk those green fields and feel the crisp Irish air.
What makes this tale truly special is the raw, unfiltered emotion that pours from its pages. The characters aren't just names on paper; they're souls bared open for the world to see. Their journey from friendship to love is a symphony of emotions - the hesitant glances that turn into stolen touches, the laughter that masks hidden desires, and the tender moments that make your heart ache with the beauty of it all.
As the story unfolds, you find yourself entangled in a web of feelings - the giddiness of a first kiss, the warmth of a comforting hug, and the exquisite pain of a heartfelt goodbye. The words dance off the page, painting a vivid picture of love in its purest, most genuine form. It's not just a story; it's an experience that leaves you breathless and craving for more.
In the end, this Christmas romcom isn't just a book; it's an emotional journey that lingers long after you've turned the last page. It's a reminder that love, in all its forms, is a treasure worth cherishing. So, let yourself be swept away by the emotions, and let this story remind you of the beauty of love, set against the backdrop of the enchanting Irish countryside.
Catherine Walsh can do no wrong. She just perfectly writes characters who aren’t overly dramatic or dense, and still have weaknesses and faults that are so relatable. I really love how mature the relationship dynamics are, while still having misunderstandings and hesitation. She understands the duality that’s inside us all. With so many romcoms, especially holiday ones, the characters are absolute idiots who just simply don’t communicate. Here however, Walsh gives us Christian, who is charming, understanding, sexy and still has a few faults to overcome. Our FMC, Megan, is seemingly confident and strong, but still struggles with facing her past, and keeps a lot bottled up.
Christian and Megan’s chemistry was so fun to read. They had immediate sparks, which they both tamper down, which makes for such fun as the reader. You KNOW they have the desire and they just won’t do anything. I love that tension! When they finally kindle their flame- ewww this is why I’m not a writer- it’s pure magic. I felt like it was the perfect amount of slow burn, with driving storyline to keep it interesting.
Also, can we just talk about the grand gesture?! I won’t spoil it but what a damn dream! I squealed. Out loud. At 1am. Perfect holiday romance. 5 ⭐️
P.S. I didn’t realize this is technically the second in a series, and immediately am picking up Holiday Romance, which is Christian’s brother’s (Andrew) romance. Can’t frickin’ wait.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Catherine Walsh for this ARC!
Megan is dreading going home for the holidays after leaving her fiance, Isaac, at the altar 5 years ago. She doesn't want to deal with the town gossip, since Isaac is basically considered the town golden boy. She's living a very happy life in Dublin when she literally bumps into Christian Fitzpatrick, the man who was the last person to see her before she escaped her wedding. They click immediately. Since they both are dreading going home for the holidays alone, they agree to fake date to get through Christmas with some back up.
Megan and Christian are was most book couples dream to be. They are both smart, funny, and the CHEMISTRY!!!! OH MY WOW!!! This book is really the perfect Hallmark Christmas movie. You've got lovable families, a little bit of drama, and spice. I mean I was up until 4am finishing this. Very good! I was laughing so loud and couldn't put it down. The drama is ever so slight so it really is just a feel good book. And that was so refreshing.
- Slow Burn
- Fake Dating
- Friends to Lovers
- Small Town Christmas
- Family Oriented
Catherine Walsh just knows how to do holiday romances right! This is the story of Megan and Christian (brother of Andrew from Holiday Romance) who meet unexpectedly and decide to embark on a fake relationship when they go back to their hometown for Christmas.
Catherine just has the recipe for a great Christmas romance and I absolutely adored this book. If you enjoyed Holiday Romance, I think you will enjoy Snowed In! Thank you the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
"Snowed In" by Catherine Walsh is a heartwarming and captivating winter tale that transports readers to a cozy cabin nestled in a snow-covered landscape. Walsh's storytelling evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia as the characters navigate the challenges and joys of being snowed in together. The narrative is laced with moments of humor, love, and personal growth, making it a delightful and comforting read. With well-drawn characters and a charming setting, "Snowed In" offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, delivering a feel-good story that leaves readers with a smile and a longing for their own snowy retreat.
Everything I expected from a Catherine Walsh rom-com and even more …
I was super excited to jump into the ‘Holiday Romance’ universe once more to discover Christian & Megan’s story. Mostly for the cosy Fitzpatrick family vibes and the way Catherine spins a Christmasy story. So imagine my surprise when the story starts with a runaway bride instead of the Christmas period.
Megan & Christian used to be in high school together, but not really friends. When she flees the hotel before her almost wedding, he startles her but lets her escape.
Now, 5 years later, they meet in a bar when she spills a glad of ‘house red’ all over his shirt. Just before she almost faints due to running out too early after giving blood for a date who didn’t show up.
Both wary to head back home for the holidays, they come to a fake dating pact so they can support each other and wouldn’t be seen as the only singles around the table.
This sets of a quirky fake dating journey with amazing banter, relatable inner-monologues in a double POV and swoony gestures.
I was already enamored with Andrew & Molly, but I fell even harder for Christian & Megan. Though this book’s snowy forced proximity cabin was mostly thanks to Andrew and his stranded engagement plans. Christian and Megan went from fake dating to real feelings in such a natural way.
Before the book starts, the previous controlling relationship as possible TW is highlighted.
Where this is a darker side to the story, I personally do believe that Catherine has written it respectfully and shown the evolution of Megan’s personality throughout her relationships in the book.
After reading this heartwarming romance, I am already dreaming of a white Christmas. Who knows I might even meet a Christian of my very own.
