I always find K.L. Slater’s novels fast paced page turners and “Husband and Wife” is no different. This is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that kept me hooked until the very end and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough. Parker and Luna are the husband and wife who have an horrific car accident and now fighting for their lives in hospital. The couple promised to protect each other’s deepest secrets, but a fateful car accident turns their world upside down.
The couple left their son with Parkers Mother Nicola and set off to a function and as they lie in their hospital beds Parker is being linked to a murder investigation involving an innocent woman, raising the question of his potential involvement.
The suspense is unbearable as we are drip fed information in this fast paced thriller that I couldn’t put down. Suspicion moves around with every chapter as the family faces conflict after conflict. This novel is a rollercoaster of emotions, secrets, and suspense with trust and loyalty being severely tested.
An excellent read.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 ☆ for Husband and Wife by K.L. Slater
i will admit, i seem to be in the minority here as this book was a total miss for me - which is disheartening because i've been wanting to reading Slater's work for a while and the blurb of this book seemed promising.
this book follows a couple who are both hiding each other's dark secrets. after an accident that leaves both of them in the hospital, and a murder that seems to be connected to them, it's up for the husband's mother to find answers, regardless how painful they might be.
honestly i like the concept of this story. i love thrillers where it seems like everyone is hiding something and have their own motives. sadly, here it just fell flat and for a couple of reasons.
first of all, it took me getting around halfway through the book to find out what exactly was bothering me - it was the writing style. it wasn't necessarily bad per se (hence why i couldn't put my finger on it) but it just felt off? it almost felt like the story was translated from another language into english? i know it sounds weird, but once i realized that, i couldn't stop seeing it. not only that, but my biggest gripe was the dialogue. again, i felt like the writing was kind of weird. i wish i wrote down some of it, but all i could keep thinking was: "literally nobody talks like that." it almost made me feel uncomfortable, as if most conversations were written by AI - they would over explain stuff to each other that the reader already assumed or figured out.
as far as the plot goes, i definitely enjoyed it. it kept me on my toes until approximately 60% of the book where i just figured out the whole thing. and that's not to say it was bad, just that i personally prefer staying on edge until the very end. due to that, the last 40% did feel like a bit of a drag as the characters explained to the reader, it seemed, the whole thing. which is fine, i guess. i personally prefer finding out rather than being told. other than that, the pace was nice and i finished the book in two sittings.
honestly, i might be the problem on that one, seeing as the majority of people thoroughly enjoyed the book. i also am not in any way, shape or form shitting on Slater's writing as a whole. while this one did not work for me, i still intend on checking out her other works.

I knew that this would be a fabulous read. Every book by K.L. Slater is top notch in my opinion and this latest is no exception. A dark, twisty thriller that had me reading into the early hours every time I picked it up at bedtime. I was shattered from lack of sleep but oh my, it was worth it! I loved the short chapters mostly ending on a cliffhanger that ensured I read 'just another chapter!' My suspicions swung from suspect to suspect as the twists kept coming and I really couldn't predict the outcome but the ending was expertly done and left me satisfied with what was a really gripping, well written and memorable book. Great stuff! My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy which I gladly and voluntarily review here.

Phenomenal. K.L. Slater never disappoints. This book was incredible. So many plot twists. This book had me hooked and had me guessing the entire time. The build up of the story, multiple point of views, various timelines but so well done. Everything meshed so perfectly together and developed seamlessly. Definitely add to your tbr list if it isn’t already on it. Slater is one of my favorite authors. Her thrillers are always so entertaining. Totally worth buying the paperback on November 3rd when title officially releases!!!

K.L.slater is back and on top form. A riveting read that you won’t put down.
A woman is murdered after a night out in Nottingham.
Several weeks later a couple are involved in a car accident. Both are in a serious condition and their young son has been left in the care of the grandparents. Whilst Parker and Luna fight for their lives a piece of evidence appears which could solve the murder.
Who is covering for who. Who will crack first.
A real who dunnit. Told from multiple points of view.

After a car accident, Parker can hear his wife talking to the police about him. But is she telling the truth, or is she out to save herself?
This is the premise of the story I was anticipating, and sure, it’s there, but it’s not as easy or straightforward as that. Numerous, and I mean numerous perspectives and numerous timelines. I think if it was all a linear timeline, with a few call backs to necessary past information, things would have flowed better. However, the jumps from a murder a month ago, to years ago Parker and Lucas relationship, to the present was a lot to keep track of.
Short chapters and most of them were fast paced and interesting. Just the layout was too jumbled for me.

Wow! KL Slater knocks another one out of the park!! This was full of twists and turns. And of course super creepy reveals. Loved the characters. Don’t miss this one!
Thank you NetGalley, KL Slater and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I don't know why but when I went into this I was expecting a Freida McFadden type read, simplistic and nothing too in-depth yet still entertaining. Well, I was way off because this was so intricately written, inserting puzzle pieces of this mystery into precise spots here and there until the very end when you can finally see the whole picture and are left shocked. This author has upped her game ten fold with this and I am pleasantly surprised. While many of the characters are highly unlikeable, their stories are not and I couldn't help but feeling a little bit of understanding at some point with a few of them. The main protagonist Nicola however, was very likeable and she was the one I found myself rooting for and feeling so empathetic towards. This went back and forth with the timeline from months ago to present to two weeks ago and back that it seemed like it would be extremely hard to follow, but the way this author did it made it feel so effortless and helped the understanding of the story more so. This was an impressive, highly entertaining, addictive page-turner and I give it four stars.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy I’d this book.
Nicola and Cal are a happy couple. They live a decent but not luxurious life. Their some Parker and his wife Luna and their son Barney live more luxuriously. I hey don’t have much time for Nicola and Cal anymore. Marie and Joe are Luna’s parents. Well off and happy to spend money. The mystery is, which couple is the husband and wife from the title?
The book starts with Barney being dropped off at Nicola’s. His parents have an event to attend. They are rudely woken during the night by the police. There’s been an accident and Parker and Luna are in hospital.
Running alongside this story, we hear about the murder of a young girl called Sarah. The police are appealing for a vital piece of evidence missing from her body. When Nicola finds this evidence she doesn’t know what to do.
Wow this was some read. I totally devoured this book and couldn’t put it down. I figured out the murderer fairly early on and was confident I was right. However the author really made me doubt myself, as there were so many twists and turns and signs that somebody else might be guilty. Highly recommend.

What. A. Riveting. Mystery!
K.L Slater has outdone herself! This book had every single thing I wanted in a new thriller. Drama. Different POVs. Lies. Family. I stayed up late to read this one, and I haven't done that in quite a while! Who needs bedtimes, right?
Husband and Wife is a slow and twisted story of a secretive couple, their parents, and a murdered mother. I truly didn't know which POV I could trust.
Brilliant book, a fascinating mix of characters, and it keeps you guessing till the end. What more could I want? You need to read this the minute it comes out! Releases 3rd Nov 2023. 5 stars all round.
Thank you for the ARC, Netgalley and Bookouture!

Honestly this book has so many twists and turns and blind alleys you need a map and compass to navigate your way through! A young woman is found murdered in an alley and the resulting investigation tears several lives apart. Marriages built on shifting sands of mistrust and lies, come crashing down with devastating consequences. I don't want to give plotlines away but suffice to say K.L.Slater never disappoints. I have stayed awake all night to finish this book and even when I thought all was, revealed I was hit with another whammy. Thriller writing at it's best !

A husband and wife are in hospital after a terrible accident - both injured, but one worse than the other. Unfortunately, they both have secrets which are on the cusp of discovery, which they are each determined to protect.
They dropped off their young son with his grandparents earlier, the husband indicating to his mother that he had something to discuss. But he did not get a chance to have that conversation before the accident. What was he going to tell her?
In addition to this, there is a young woman missing, a single mother with a questionable history. So what does this couple know about her disappearance?
The marriage is struggling, so it would not be surprising for them to now turn on each other, and the wife is in a better position to do so. The problem is, there is a very real possibility that they are both unreliable narrators, so it is hard to know who to trust.
And the author certainly doesn't make it any easier! With her skilled story telling, she delivers twist after twist - and while the story is a slow burn, it is quite an entertaining read. I give it 3.5 stars.

This was a fast paced, addictive book to read. The twists and turns kept coming. I was able to finish it quickly as it held my attention the whole time. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC

Luna and Parker have the perfect life with their son Barney. Parker’s mum, Nicola, wishes she could be closer to them but Parker always seems to keep his distance since Luna came on the scene. A mysterious road traffic incident in the middle of the night incapacitates Parker and Luna and things start to unravel when Nicola tries to uncover the truth… A good read with some unexpected twists, however I did not enjoy one plot twist at the end and felt it was not very thought out.

Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy of Husband and Wife by K.L. Slater.
Parker and Luna are in the hospital recovering from a terrible car accident. All both can think about is which one will be able to talk to the police first. Not to report details about the accident, but for fear of what the other one will say about their involvement in covering up a murder.
They are both fighting for their lives with secrets to hide from the authorities and from each other. Who is to be believed – the husband or the wife – or neither?
I have enjoyed several of K.L. Slater’s books so I couldn’t wait to read this one, and it did not disappoint! I thought I had it figured out several times, but was completely surprised at the end.
It was my favorite book of hers so far and can’t wait to read more! You will not regret getting this one!

Yet another great and gripping read from this author. This book was exciting and I enjoyed every twist and turn

Husband and Wife is another brilliant book by KL Slater. Every book by this author is so gripping and is impossible to put down. This book kept me up reading till 1.30am but I had to finish it. The story goes backwards and forwards but never gets confusing and every character is interesting but not all likeable. Congratulations KL Slater on another amazing book which I highly recommend. Can't wait for the next one by my favourite author.

A story of husbands and wives, secrets and lies, and betrayal and murder. Full of twists and turns and huge shocks, I loved this! Like how it goes between different characters as the truth unravels. Brilliant!

Absolutely amazing! If you like domestic noirs then this is a must read! I can go into how ots well paced and there are multiple povs and plenty twists but I'm saving myself the time by just saying this is the thriller that other thrillers aspire to be! Just read it! You won't be disappointed

Where to start with this book - it was AMAZING. read it a day, could not put it down.
Two people fighting for their lives. Parker and Luna. Two people with secrets to hide. Kept me guessing right until the end. One of the best books I've ever read.
The story goes backwards and forwards between several characters but this did not complicate the story. It made it easier to understand what was going on. and really added to the mystery of who-done-it.
Highly recommend this book.
