WOW!!! The author has an incredible gift of writing psychological thrillers…I was just blown away by everything in this book and need to read more by this author. Needless to say I am an instant huge fan!
I was blown away by all the secrets and twists that kept coming… The ending completely blew me away. I raced through the pages as fast as I could!

A twisted Family mystery and slow paced thriller.
When a single mother goes missing and ends up found dead behind an alley, the story blast all around town causing havoc between a mother and her family. A crazy yet sweat HEA.

Husband and Wife, by K.L. Slater is tense and captivating! Parker and Luna have brought their son to his parent’s house while they go for a night away. As they are returning they are in a terrible car accident; Parker is critical and Luna severely injured. Recently a young woman has been found murdered and there is an important item missing at the scene. Nicola, Parker’s mother, lets herself into the couple’s home to pick up some additional clothes and toys, and finds something shocking. How can you solve a murder when one person is unable to speak and it seems everyone is lying about something? The two sets of in-laws do not get along, and secrets are plenty with all the characters. The chapters alternate from each character’s POV, including the police, and the author cleverly unfolds the story by going back and forth in time. This structure enables the reader to obtain only bits of information at a time with satisfying twists. From the beginning there is a strong sense of foreboding so it’s hard to put this down until you reach the end. I highly recommend reading this book! With thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC. My opinions are my own. Susanh_bookreviews

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for the ARC. The publication date is the 3rd Nov 2023. I finished this in one day! This book was more of a slow-burn thriller but I still throughly enjoyed it.
This one had characters that you just love to hate, and filled with secrets, lies, and drama. I really like how the story was told from all different points of view.
There were so many twists and turns in this book, but nothing can prepare you for the ending.
My favourite character was Nicola as did what any mother would do for her child... she was my favourite out of all of them.
Overall, a page turner and extremely fast-paced book. 5/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Husband and Wife by K.L. Slater is quite twisty and has a surprise ending that I didn't see coming.
I like this author's writing style; the scenes and action flow and hold my interest. Sometimes, it did get cumbersome (from Nicola's point of view) in some of the details described, but overall, it was a satisfying psychological thriller with a good twist at the end.
The story was told from different character perspectives via past and present that unfolded family drama, plot twists, and secrets. This was not a real page-turner, but it did have good drama and enough secrets to keep me reading until the end.
A 3.75 (rounded to 4) out of 5 stars.

The title husband and wife literally could fit three different couples in this book. All with their own secrets. How are all of these people connected? Why does Nicola's son need to talk to her? Why does Parker only visit his in-laws? This book takes many views from past and present to bring a story about family drama and secrets! Not my favorite by her, but still a good book with lots of suspense!

So the description is not accurate, first of all. But that being said, this book was ok. It was not my favorite by KL Slater. Lots of back and forth between numerous characters and past and present. It is almost like there were numerous storylines that she tried to tie together. Nicola and Cal are babysitting their grandson when they hear that their son and daughter-in-law where in a bad accident. When Nicola goes to their house to get clothes for Barney, she discovers a bag full of things thrown away: including a scarf the police are looking for. Things take off from there. Fingers pointed at each other. Secrets revealed. I did not see the end coming.

Love this author and the new novel did not disappoint. This kept me on the edge of the seat all the way through and changing my mind on who did what every other page. I loved it and felt so sorry for the mother who’s only concern was her son and grandson but was being kept from both of them for unknown reasons and seemed to have no support from any one, as she made it her mission to get to the truth everything she believed about her family is about to be turned on its head. A great read.

K. L Slater does it again with Husband and Wife. I could not put this book down, and was up reading it throughout the night.

There were so many twists and turns in this book, but nothing can prepare you for the ending. Wow!

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of Husband and Wife by K. L. Slater. I see so many great reviews for this book but it wasn’t for me. There are many POVs, but the main one, Nicola, is tedious. The timeline for the POVs in the past seemed random and didn’t ever really add much to the story. The story was unexpected and pretty good and I would have loved the reveal if I hadn’t already figured it out. If you love a surprise ending with many POVs, this is probably the book for you. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.

I really enjoyed K.L. Slater's newest book! Readers that enjoy Kierstin Modglin would thoroughly enjoy this author's books! Highly recommend!
Thank you for allowing me to read this advanced copy for an honest review!

Nicola is recovering from having chemo for cancer.
Her son, Parker, and his wife, Luna, ask her to child sit, and she is more than happy to do so, as she feels that Parker and Luna purposely keep away from her and Cal, her husband.
Early hours of the morning, the police visit and inform Nicola that Parker and Luna have been in an accident and Parker is critical.
She obtains the keys to their house to get Barney, her Grandson some clothing, and makes a shock discovery, evidence from a murder that has been splashed all over the news, and she is unsure what to do with this incriminating item.
Wow, K L Slater knows how to spin a good, twisty misleading story!
Ignoring the obvious evidence, I found when I got to the end of the book that I was totally wrong in my guess! Oh yes, this is a guessing game that the reader will play, and will find that 2 plus 2 is definitely not four!
The characters were all flawed in some way, but Nicola did what any mother would do for her child... she was my favourite out of a bad bunch.
I highly recommend this book, but please start it in the morning, and not the evening, as I did. I barely got any sleep!
5/5 stars from me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The author ekes out the clues in this one, with the end result being a tidy, satisfying resolution of all loose ends. Most of the characters are pretty infuriating, to be honest, so the big draw is the plot itself rather than the relationships or any investment in the players themselves. This author writes well and has good ideas, with this offering delivering a strong story which will keep you rapt.

I stopped what i had been reading to read this book and in one evening i had devoured it! From page one i was sucked in, wow what a family! The story goes backwards and forwards but this did not complicate things it simply made it easier to understand what was going on. A great who done it with a twist. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy. This is a must read for anyone who loves a mystery/thriller.

This is an intriguing slow burn thriller, told from many viewpoints but primarily that of Nicola whose son and daughter-in-law have just been involved in a serious car accident. Whilst collecting some essentials for her grandson who was staying with her the night of the accident she inadvertently sets in motion a chain of events that leave her son the prime suspect for a recent murder. There are so many complex relationships here and equally many secrets as well as divided loyalties that it’s easy to get caught up in this very messy situation where most of the characters seem irredeemable in some way but that makes it all the more compelling. The end revelations were shocking but I felt the whole situation had so many edges it was difficult for me to truly understand how it had ended up in such a complex tangle but it’s certainly not short of surprises.

I finished this in one day! It was more of a slow-burn thriller but I still enjoyed it. I didn’t know who did what so it made me want to keep reading!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for loaning me this digital ARC.
It is my first KL Slater read but it will not be my last.

K L Slater "wows" me again!! Any time I see a book by K L Slater it jumps to the top of my "to read" pile. I received an ARC of Husband and Wife this morning, and in less than 8 hours, I've finished it (while I should have been working!). This book is the perfect mix of family drama and lies. The characters aren't that likeable, but it works. The ending had a major twist, which is one of the reasons why I love this author so much. I will be telling everyone about Husband and Wife.

Wow! Great book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! This book had it all! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, gas lighting, Extortion, fantasy addiction, a great who done it that I didn't see coming, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was so very interesting and had me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Definitely don't miss out on this one!! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Can't wait for more from this author!

This talented author has written a cannot put down mystery. Secrets and red herrings. The guilty party was a surprise. Few of the characters are really likable, but perhaps that added to the intrigue. Thanks Netgalley.

Oh how I love the structure of this book. Going backwards and forwards, seen from different points of view and making you doubt everything and everyone.
Some people might find this a bit (or a lot) confusing, but I just love it. It keeps your brain working overtime and that's just marvelous.
It seems like a lot of characters were pointing their fingers in the same direction, putting the spotlight on them to take all the blame and quite honestly I thought this person did a pretty good job making themselves suspicious too. I have to admit I had my doubts too, but there were too many things still niggling.
But if it wasn't them, then who was? Well, almost every single person was a good candidate. There was only one person I was convinced that was innocent. Who oh who is the sneaky one here....?
As I mention, I just enjoyed this story so, so much. A five star rating is the only correct one in my opinion. :)
Thank you
