An absolutely phenomenal book! Brilliantly written and gripping from beginning to end. This is an edge of your seat read all the way. The characters are unpredictable and believable. This book is not to be missed. I was all in on this one and it's going to stay with me for a long time. Simply amazing on all levels.

Get ready to read this all in one sitting! I’ve read all of K. L. Slaters books, so I was excited to get an early read a couple weeks through NetGalley before the release. Husband and Wife was one of my favorite books by this author. It kept me wanting to read from the first chapter. There was quite a buildup to trying to figure out what happened. I was truly surprised by the ending, which does not happen often for me. I cannot wait for the next book by this author.

I gave this book 4 stars, but it was not one of my favorite stories of the author. A husband and wife are in a horrific accident, and both in the hospital. but not allowed to see one another. While in the hospital, the mother of the man has found some incriminating evidence about her son. What would you do? Would you try and hide the evidence? This story centers around decisions made, and how they impacted the lives of many. Slater is a great author and includes lots of suspense in her novels, and this one is no different.

A woman is found strangled in an alley. Parker is routinely interviewed as his car resembles one seen near the murder scene. After, Parker and his wife, Luna, are in an accident and his mother also accidentally finds a piece of evidence from the murder in their trash bag. Mum then starts to investigate.
This book was mediocre at best. There really didn't seem to be any thrills. It seemed as if everyone knew what was going on except Mum. Getting both Luna and Parker's povs there didn't feel to be many secrets. The characters were all grey and dull. There was no one to root for. I just wasn't engaged. Not a book I would recommend or an author I'd try again.

The first thing to say about this book is what a great tag line to pull you into the story!
She kept all his secrets. Until the body was found...
If that doesn't make you curious, nothing will! Who has secrets? What are the secrets? Whose body and why have they been killed? So many questions are raised just by the tag line - and you'll only have more as you become engrossed in this domestic tale of murder and deceit. But those with the answers are lying seriously ill in hospital after a nasty car crash. A coincidence? MORE questions!!
I loved this book, and I certainly didn't work out where it would be heading. There are older parents of career-successful kids, who don't see as much of them as they'd like so don't know as much about what's happening in their day-to-day lives. There are the in-laws, wealthy and successful and a little bit smug about it. The couple involved in the car crash: The husband who confided that he needs a chat with his mum before he set off on the fateful journey, and his glamorous yet insecure wife who seems to hold all the cards in their relationship. Secrets...oh, so many secrets!
This is a prime candidate for a book you'll want to read in one sitting. Characters you'll love to hate and others you'll want to hug. And a plot which will have you turning the pages until you run out. Probably at about 2 in the morning because you won't want to put it down.

Another fab read from K.L.Slater - A family all have secrets, children from their parents, parents from each other. One secret ends up in someone being murdered. I just like the way this authors stories flow and the characters become real. A good read.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and K L Slater for my ARC pf 'Husband and Wife' in return for an honest review.
I have enjoyed K L Slater's novels and was delighted to receive this copy. It did not disappoint.
Nicola and Cal are distraught when Parker and his wife Luna, meet with an accident. It has left them both in a critical condition.
To add another layer, Parker is also being accused of a sinister crime, one that Nicola believes he is incapable of having committed. Nicola sets out on a lone campaign to clear her son's name.
Highly recommended

This book definitely made me realise that I need to read more of K.L.Slater. This thriller was captivating and made me guess constantly until towards the end.
• It is told from multiple POVs and it all comes together beautifully. I loved Nicola's character which gives a 'mama bear' vibes. The twists and turns keep you on the edge but it was so satisfying at the end.

Another twisty and gripping novel by KL Slater! Many different story lines and fast paced chapters.
I really enjoyed the writing and the story, however the twists happened too soon in the book. There was too much discussion after the twists happened. I was waiting for the last twist right at the end and it never happened. I also wish the two different twists would have connected in some way. I felt it was a bit disjointed.
All in all I enjoyed the book. Thank you NetGalley, KL Slater and Bookouture for the advanced reading copy in return for an honest review.

A murder, a police investigation , a serious car accident and a family at the centre of suspicion are the ingredients of this well written thriller.
Parker and Luna have been involved in a car accident which has left them fighting for their lives, Nicola, Parkers mother goes to his house to collect clothes for his son who she is looking after and inadvertently stumbles upon something which turns her world upside down.
With the discovery of a woman’s body , the finger of suspicion is directed at Parker. Nicola is intrigued to find out what Parker was going to disclose to her before his accident but she cannot believe it had anything to do with the murder , but is her motherly love overshadowing the truth? This disclosure had me intrigued the inquisitive part of me inventing lots of possibilities!
I felt at times I knew who the murderer was and then changed my mind only to be left speechless when I found it was someone who I had never even considered.
A mothers love was explored beautifully in this book. The twists and turns had me hooked The short snappy chapter told from the different characters really made the book very readable. I really enjoyed this one .

A dead body in an alleyway, a road accident weeks later, and the mysterious link that ties them together; this was one helluva page-turner.
Nicola and Cal are devastated when their only son, Parker and his wife Luna, meet with an accident that have left them both in a critical condition. As he fights for his life, Parker is also being accused of a sinister crime, one that Nicola believes he is incapable of having committed. Despite their strained relations, Parker was on the verge of revealing some crucial information to Nicola when the accident occurred. With all the cards stacked up against him, Nicola sets out on a lone campaign to clear her son's name. But when she finds out the truth, will she be able to do the right thing?
K.L. Slater continues her innings as a top-notch suspense writer with the recently released Husband and Wife. I am always fascinated by her ability to make me hate the characters but love the story. Nicola came across as a bumbling grandmother, who isn't worldwise but ran on a full steam of motherly instinct. None of the other characters were particularly likeable making all of them suspects in my eyes. The alterntaing timelines and POVs kept me on my toes and the final reveal was quite a shocker, simply not what I was expecting.
Overall, an engaging domestic thriller. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the character development and each perspective in the story. A young woman is killed. A married couple have a serious car accident leaving both in the hospital. The woman who was killed is
missing her scarf. The scarf is discovered in a trash bag at the married couple’s house. I couldn’t stop reading until everything was revealed. I highly recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and K T slater for the Arc of Husband and Wife. I’ve read/listened to a fair few of KT slater’s books on Audible so I was read excited for her new novel.
This gripped me from beginning to end. The Narrative is split between 1st person who is called Nicola ( Parker’s mum ) which is in the present timeline . The story does jump back to the past and in 3rd person to Luna and Parker who are Husband and wife. This worked really well and all the main characters including Luna’s parents , Parker’s father and the police who have great fleshed out characters and voices.
As the story unfolds, there’s a fair few twists and turns as the past starts to connect with the present . This is medium paced and gathers up speed with the final showdown.
I love how KT Slater writes and her plot lines are great!

I have read lots by KL Slater and loved them all. But sadly this one just wasn’t the same. I kept putting it down and picking it up again as it just wasn’t keeping me interested or immersed.
I found the characters lacking, I just didn’t particularly care about any of them and the plot itself was very slow.
The last couple of chapters where different in that it all kicked off and the truth was revealed and some surprises came to light. But I was bored long before this and was just glad to get it finished.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Parker and his wife Luna are going to a dinner dance out of town and staying overnight. They're dropping their son, Barney, off at Parker's mom and dad's house. Nicola and Cal are thrilled to babysit while Parker and Luna get away for some fun. Nicola notices that Luna has been distant with her and Cal, but doesn't say anything. As Parker is about to leave to join Luna in the car, he tells his mom that he has something very important to talk to her about when he gets back. Nicola can tell that it's something very serious and that it's weighing heavily on Parker. She encourages him to tell her before he goes, but he says there's no time. Off he goes.
Nicola and Cal have a wonderful day with Barney. He loves visiting them and doesn't get to do it often. After everyone is in bed and asleep for the night, Cal and Nicola wake up suddenly. It's the middle of the night and there are blue lights flashing in through their bedroom window. When Cal hears knocking on the front door, he goes down to see what's going on. It's the police and they tell Cal that Parker and Luna have been in a serious car accident and have been rushed to the hospital. Nicola rushes down the steps to try to get more information, but the police simply say the injuries are quite serious and tell them the hospital they were taken to. Parker and Luna were supposed to stay overnight. Why were they driving home in the middle of the night? The police didn't have any more information about the cause of the accident but said more would be known following the investigation.
Nicola tells Cal that she'll go to the hospital and try to see Parker and Luna. She wants Cal to stay home with Barney to give him a feeling of normalcy when he wakes up. It sounds like he's going to be staying for longer than one night.
When Nicola arrives, she's not allowed to go back to their rooms. Parker has been rushed into surgery with internal bleeding and Luna has serious injuries and was given medication to help her sleep. Nicola sits in the waiting room as the receptionist said someone will be out to talk with her after the surgery. She texts Cal and fills him in. When the surgeon comes out he says that Parker had serious bleeding and they were able to get it under control. He warns Nicola that her son is in very bad shape and not to be shocked when she sees him. He allows Nicola to visit Parker for a short time hoping it will bring her comfort.
While Nicola is visiting Parker she is shocked at the swelling, bruising, and machines monitoring him. She holds his hand and talks to him. Parker's eyelids begin to flutter as he seems to be waking up. Nicola stands and bends over him. He whispers something to Nicola. He seems upset. What is going on and why were they driving home? Nothing makes sense and now Parker and Luna are bad off. Parker has been keeping secrets from his mom as he wanted to protect her after she had a long bout with cancer and chemo. When Nicola finds something at Parker's house that the police have been searching for in relation to a murdered woman, what does it mean? Is Parker guilty of murder? Is Luna involved? How could this day be any worse?
K.L. Slater has done it again!! Husband and Wife is an exciting read with many twists along the way! As hard as I tried to figure out who did it, I did not figure it out! This is a standalone thriller that will keep you on your toes! I rate Husband and Wife 4 stars with a high recommendation. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review. #HusbandAndWife

Nicola and Cal have been married for decades and have an adult‘s on named Parker and a grandson named Barney who Nicola would do anything for. Even though Parker and his wife Luna never come in for a visit Nicola always thinks the best and puts her best face forward and just enjoys the time she gets with seven year old Barney. She has recently had a health scare something she thought would bring her family closer together but since then they have been seemingly even further apart on this day she and Cal are babysitting Barney while Parker and Luna go to a dinner dance and stay the night at the hotel hours later however they are woken up by flashing lights and it seems Parker and Luna were in a car crash in Parker is in critical condition while Luna is doing OK even though she has a broken pelvis. It is while Nicola is going to get clothes for little Barney that she finds an item that’s very familiar to her. an influencer named Sarah Richards was recently murdered and when they found her body her scarf was missing and they put pictures out hoping someone with any updates on it’s whereabouts and now Nickola does. This opens up a can of worms way bigger than she could have ever thought the book is called husband and wife in this scarf will affect three couples Nicola and Cal Parker and Luna and Luna‘s parents Marie and Joe but how it affects them is an intricate well plotted story only is KL Slater can do. I was late to this authors books but I’m so enjoying them now and this one did not disappoint she never goes for the low hanging fruit but always gives a well detailed thoroughly thought out plot I so enjoy her books and definitely rate this one’s five stars! I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This twisted family drama filled with secrets kept me awake deep into the night. I was interested to see what would happen next and had to turn pages and finish the book as fast as I could. I liked the characters and plot, and the writing style of the author was good. Can't wait to read another book by her.

Such a good book full of twists and turns and I didn’t know where the end was going to take me. This is the first book I’ve read by KL Slater and I loved it.
Parker and Luna have dropped their son off at his mum Nicola’s house and then they are involved in a car accident. Nicola needs to go to their family home to get clothes for their son but Parker doesn’t want her to go there and she doesn’t know why.
Nicola is very confused and everyone seems to have secrets and be hiding something and she is totally in the dark with it all.
This was a fab book and one I would definitely recommend. Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy.

Another brilliant book by this author
Will keep you turning the pages
And have you hooked till the end
Plenty of secrets and lies to keep you guessing
Thanks NetGalley

This was a seriously great read! I would say it’s probably the best book that K.L. Slater has written. It was a real roller coaster ride with a great plot and interesting characters. I can’t wait for the next book.
