Bad Blood is book number 19 in the Kim Stone series and although it can be read as a stand alone I would recommend reading the previous books in the series to learn the back story.
Continuing on from the cliffhanger ending of book number 18 Bad Blood hits the ground running from the outset and doesn't let up until the end. It is another well written compelling read with well drawn characters and an original plot
This series just doesn't lose any appeal and I eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended!
Remarkable concept and impeccable execution from start to the end. Every single page gives a full-throttle effect. The story moved marvellously. I finished the book overnight. The book supercharged me.
Thank you for the review copy, I’ve been reading this series since the first book and can’t believe this is book 19!
Another really good, fast paced read. I enjoyed reading about the bonds in the team and the support they gave for each other.
Another excellent book by Angela Marsons. I always look forward to her latest Kim Stone series and this does not disappoint. Great storyline and her characters always have a new dimension. A fascinating and thought provoking storyline.
Another outstanding book by Angela Marsons. I absolutely adore Kim and the team. Di Kim Stone will forever be my favourite detective many years ago I picked put up First Blood and my love for crime thrillers was born. Each book feels like catching up with old friends who I love it never gets old the excited waiting for the new release never gets old. I was so excited to see the email I had be accepted to read Bad Blood early and downloaded it straight away and got stuck in and I couldn’t be happier. This book was fast paced gripping intense outstanding. So much going on but easy to follow friendships tested but overcoming it all. The teams quirks and humour being my favourite part they are all so real from Kim stubborn bad ass don’t mess with me attitude to Penn’s adorable happiness full of love. Each one makes the series so special. I don’t really think I could love it more and will now have to patiently wait for book 20!!! Thank you Angela for another smashing book
Another fantastic book in the Kim Stone series and every bit as gripping and addictive as the rest and after nineteen books, it never gets tired and the relationship between Kim and her team while from time to time can be become fraught, the dynamic is there and Kim goes to great lengths to protect that,. I especially like the banter between her and Frost although they have a semi mutual respect for each other that neither would admit, when things have gone bad before, the other has been there to help. Definitely a five star read.
Bad Blood is the latest book in the massively popular Kim Stone series by prolific author Angela Marsons. Despite new books in the series coming out approximately every 6 months the quality never flags and she never runs out of fresh ideas.
When Stone rushes to a crime scene expecting to find a dead body she's more than surprised to find the victim alive,if not well. Luckily pictures had been taken before he was moved to receive medical attention, that showed his body had been posed after the attack. With similar crimes being committed within days and tension within her team Stone races against the clock to find the culprit.
As ever Ms Marson's raises current social issues in this book, vigilantism, flaws in the police service, the effectiveness of rehabilitation in youth detention facilities and the continuation of the stalking storyline from the previous book. With Stacey's tormentor still at large her continuing problems take centre stage throughout this book with Stone in her inimitable style handling things like an entire Pamplona Bull Run through a china shop.
Another great read with the usual cast of characters who now feel like old friends, and the brief reappearance of the enigmatic protection officer Leanne King with hints that we haven't heard the last of her.
Another "cover to cover in one session" read in an excellent series.
Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for an arc copy of this book. My favourite author has done it again, one of things I love about Angela’s books are the amount of background research that has been done into the areas discussed and this was again the case. The two seperate areas discussed in this book were interesting and really got me considering my moral stance if I was in the characters position. The ongoing character arc of the detective team is strong and teaches us still more about the characters and even 19 books in I feel like there is more to discover about this team. Reading this books feels like coming back to a group of friends you haven’t seen for a while and catching up with what they have been up to. As ever I eagerly await the next release.
Bad Blood is the19th book in the “Kim Stone” series, which is a feat. But How do you ensure that each book leaves the reader wanting more? Angela Marson knows exactly how to do just that! Each book is written as if it’s her first. The plots are highly original, the characters have incredibly depth, and as a long running crime series it’s simply one of the best series out there for crime thriller junkies.
Bad Blood is about vigilantes, and although it’s not an original theme for a crime thriller, Angela Marsons turns it in to a book that’s exciting, thought provoking and with more twists and turns than the proverbial roller coaster. Ideally, in a perfect world, justice should come from the legal system. But Bad Blood explores the grey areas, where loved ones and family members have suffered terrible crimes and left in limbo suffering trauma, anger and heartbreak. Their need for revenge is understandable.
Kim Stone finds her own views on vigilante’s changing as one of her own team’s traumatic story comes to light. Muddying the waters of the complex case. This allows the reader to see a different side of the much-loved team: tempers fray, loyalties are tested, and emotions run high. But never fear, Marson’s manages to inject humour into the plot. The camaraderie between Kim and her team lightens those darker moments. Once again, Marson’s has written a cracker of a book that I devoured in almost one sitting. I’m already eagerly waiting for the next book in the series and long May it continue.
Angela Marson has smashed this again. I love Kim Stone & this has not failed to keep me gripped, to the point of ignoring everyone around me for two days.
As always we are straight into the action, murders being carried out, Frost being her usual self & Bryant his stable self to balance Kim's lack of personal skills.
All the team are together but not quite.
Hurry up with book 20 please
Having read the other eighteen books in the Kim Stone series, I was keen to get my hands on this latest instalment – it did not disappoint! The usual host of well developed, and well-loved characters are back, along with some repugnant offenders. The well scripted, multi-layered plot flows seamlessly and there are exciting twists and turns galore, which did the trick in making me question where I thought the tale was heading. The ending brought a smile to my face and did make me wonder if Kim’s icy demeanour is starting to thaw just a tiny bit! All in all, this a magnificent read, one which cements Angela Marsons place as a master of the police procedural. A big five stars from me.
Wow, what can I say Angela has nailed it again, I love Kim and her team and don't think i will ever tire of reading the next one!! Each one feels as fresh as the one before and if you havent read the previous books in this series I would urge you to do so.
Edge of the seat stuff that kept me hooked all the way through and as always I read it too fast as I needed to know the outcome, Im already eagerly waiting the 20th Kim Stone installment.
Stacey is still feeling the effects of her stalker while a dead body thats not actually dead turns up, what is going on and can Kim solve this one before any more people are harmed.
Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for this arc
5 stars, absolutely great.
This book has made me angry….angry that life has got in the way and stopped me sitting down and reading it in one go! I’m also annoyed that I’ve actually had to take time away from it to sleep. I’ve loved all the Kim Stone books and this one is just as good if not better. An on the edge of your seat story towards the end, twists, turns, horrible psychopaths , twisted criminals and overall a story about families.
I can’t recommend this book enough, it could be read as a stand alone however I’d advise anyone to read the entire series- they won’t be disappointed!
I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Bad Blood (Kim Stone 19) by Angela Marsons Author via Netgalley.
What can I say, another fabulous read, with all of the usual characters. I’ll try not to give anything away, but the plot as always was great, some really vile personalities and some soul searching from the rest of the gang.
Rad this in two days at the detriment of the family, dog and housework 😂, thankfully I was on annual leave or work could have suffered too.
Thanks as always, Angela Marsons can’t wait for book 20.
In my opinion the best crime series currently on the British shelves.
Not only does Angela Marsons bring realistic crime to her stories, she has developed an amazing cast of characters.
In this book it’s not just the crimes that test the team.
DI Stone is in conflict with one of her team. Stacey is the quiet one on the team, but this time keeping things to herself has led to a situation both her and Stone are finding it difficult to move on from.
Stone’s ever more “single” life is beginning to show cracks, and her angst against one person in particular, may be the beginnings of her showing a need for friendship.
This is police procedural drama at its best.
The question I always ask when starting a new book in this series is how does Angela Marsons manage to keep this so fresh? After 19 volumes, she still does! Maybe part of it is how, as she explains in the afterword, she keeps exposing Kim to new situations. This time, it’s vigilantes. What would anyone be willing to do to find justice, retribution or safety for their loved ones? The answer was very surprising. Along the way, she brings back many well-known faces. A subplot from the previous novel rears its ugly head again and it affects my favorite constable (and Kim’s) so it’s all hands on deck. I really loved the way every character dealt with the aftermath. Regarding the main case, I’m not going to say I was surprised by the baddie and I kept yelling at Kim. And that’s one of the many things I love about this series, I care about the characters, I’m actively rooting for them and cringing when they’re in danger. The dialogues are as funny as always, which is surprising considering the circumstances. I’m eagerly waiting for the next one.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, #NetGalley/#Bookouture!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)
"Bad Blood" by Angela Marsons, the 19th installment in the Kim Stone series, proves that this series continues to be a captivating journey. With each new book, I find myself drawn in, and it seems like I could happily read books in this series for the rest of my life without ever growing tired of them.
This latest addition did not disappoint. "Bad Blood" is yet another incredible book filled with a rollercoaster of twists and turns. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat, ensuring that you won't be able to put it down. Marsons' storytelling prowess is as strong as ever.
One of the aspects that I particularly enjoy about this series is the delightful banter between the characters. The dynamic between Kim and Bryant, in particular, is nothing short of extraordinary. Their interactions add depth to the story and make the characters feel incredibly real.
In my opinion, "Bad Blood" deserves an easy five-star rating. Angela Marsons has once again proven her mastery of the crime thriller genre, and I eagerly anticipate the next book in the series. The Kim Stone series never fails to deliver an electrifying and immersive reading experience.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It's a privilege to be among the first to explore this thrilling addition to the series.
Bad Blood by Angela Marsons is book 19 in the Detective Kim Stone police series and once again it is a totalling engrossing read. The theme of this latest novel is family and the reader sees different aspects of family demonstrated in this story.
It is a fast moving storyline and there are victims that as a reader you will have little sympathy for, as the dead were abusers before they became victims. Again it was good to see the team were as close as they ever had been, although Stacy had some apologies to make before her relationship with significant others would be back to normal.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest in the Detectice Kim Stone series and look forward to reading book 20 in time.
Highly recommended
I didn't figure this one out until the very end. SO GOOD!!! This series keeps getting better with each new addition. Add this to your TBR.
