Angela Marsons!!!

Angela Marsons - What can I say? This book #19 in the Kim Stone series is probably my new favourite…but I say that each time I read this author! She just goes from strength to strength and it doesn’t ever get old or tired!
If you love crime fiction with a kick-ass protagonist then start with #1, you won’t be disappointed. 5⭐️s

Book 19 and another great addition to the series! Angela Marsons smashes it every time with these books, I am always guaranteed to enjoy them.
You can read this as a standalone book, so don't be put off if you haven't read any of the previous ones, but you will definitely want to go back and read them all so be warned! And if you have read them it is still great to see the characters develop and how they behave and react with each other over certain situations. It does tie in some things from previous books, but it does explain enough for people who haven't read them.
The story is a great murder mystery and it really keeps you guessing until the very end, it is fast paced and gripping! A must read!

Another episode in the Kim Stone series. I have read others and always enjoyed these books. I liked this one too, though though it was a little overliong. The plot is interesting and quite intricate , lots of food for thought along the way and quite a lot of characters, though it was not difficult to keep track of them all . It might help if you have read others in the series, Kim is a difficult person to get to know and there are some hints in this book, but you might find yourself wondering about her relationships with others in the team.
Great to read, with short chapters and mostly plenty of action . There are several twists, some I`d thought about and discarded, others out of the blue .
Thanks to Net galley for a great read, I look forward to reading more of this series

It's starting to feel like it's not possible for Angela Marsons to write a bad book. This far into a series, you'd think they'd be starting to get predictable and formulaic, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm still enjoying every one and I'll still hop on the ride for the next one, whenever that comes out.

OMG. Why I never heard of this series and why I never read any book by Angela Marsons.

It was so so so good that I couldn't put it down. Starting around midnight I was up till 7 in the morning. I just couldn't stop. So deliciously good.

The conversations were funny and totally enjoyable. Kim is snarky but OMG she is so so fun.

This is #19 in DI Kim Stone series. But you can read it stand-alone. But then I'm hopping on the train to read all the previous books from the series coz it was unputdownable.

Thank you so much Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange of an honest review. Highly recommended.

Some quotes worth mentioning :

The fascination of social media was lost on her. It demanded work, interaction, maintenance. She wasn't the slightest bit interested in what anyone else was doing, and she had no wish to share her own activities.

People need to want to be helped, and if that means breaking habits or putting in effort to change, then forget it.

Our first reaction to crime isn't fear, it's anger. Anger often requires action to neutralise it.

A book or a process is a rigid instrument. Human beings are not. We adapt, we learn, we barter, we bargain. We do what we need to get the job done.

I have read most of the books in this series thus far and there isn't a bad one amongst them! Yes, you can read this book as a standalone but why not do yourself a favour and start reading the series from the beginning? You're welcome :)

Kim finds herself trying to figure out what message the killer is sending, when she finds a person in a very unnatural body position, barely alive. When another person is found, this time definitely dead, and she discovers the link between them, the race is on to find the others who are part of the group. One of her team is getting a little bit TOO involved though and so there are some moral/ethical questions asked in this book as well.

All in all, another cracking read and I can't wait for the next one!

5 stars from me, of course.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Brilliant read as usual from Angela Marsons. Loved the story line the characters couldn't put the book down. the build up the interaction between characters was great. I love the interaction between the officers and love finding out more about them in each book written. Kept me in suspense until nearly the end of the book. Angela never disappoints with her books

This is an amazing police procedural series and this, the 19th of the series, sees our protagonist DCI Kim Stone and her loyal team looking to solve a series of murders, with the first featuring a clue that it is murder 1/6 and more interestingly the corpse was not yet dead.

There is a secondary storyline featuring one of the team, who is being stalked by one of their previous suspects. The combination of the two cases leads for some drama within the team and the investigation of a juvenile detention centre where a gang of boys had ruled the roost and were now being targeted.

Well written and a welcome back to the characters that are so familiar to readers of the series, I devoured this in one day. Would be an amazing tv series as the characters are so relatable.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Every DI Kim Stone book has surpassed my expectations. This is the 19th book in the series and I can't believe that Angela Marsons is still coming up with unique storylines. In Bad Blood, Kim is called in to investigate crimes involving near dead victims. The men die shortly after being found and Kim finds out that they had spent time locked away as youth. She runs up against brick walls when trying to investigate and get any information about their past. While this is going on there is a secondary story involving Stacey. She has been keeping a secret from everyone that is putting her in danger and causing emotional issues that are affecting her job. Both of these storylines are equally interesting and added to the story. The crimes bring morals and ethics to mind. When someone is killing bad people, is it wrong? How far to you go to bring that person to justice? I had no idea who the killer could be until just before it was revealed and it took me by surprise. This was a difficult crime to solve and it took Kim and her team a lot of work to bring it to its conclusion. Stacey's story brought friendship and trust into question. Not only with co-workers, but also Devon, her wife. There was so much to love about this book, even though it was gripping and had me on the edge of my seat more than once. The audiobook was once again, expertly narrated by Jan Cramer. I recommend this book and series to those who enjoy a good crime thriller and if you like listening to audiobooks, I definitely recommend you listen to this one.

DI Kim Stone is back 🎉 I get so excited for a new instalment and the latest didn’t disappoint 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

18+ books in, and Angela Marsons still manages to keep it all so fresh. A new engrossing case that will just have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out all the pieces 🧩 and our usual fun, quirky team at the centre of it all. I just LOVE all the characters! Bryant just has my ❤️

If I had to sum up in 3 words: Twisted, Thrilling and Fast paced!

Another absolute corker of a DI Kim Stone book. To say I have fallen in love with these characters over the years is an understatement and have eagerly looked forward to each one having read them from the very start. I find myself reading these books thinking, "oh, Kim will not be happy" or "Charlie's going to have to go and get Barney" or even "Bryant will sort this out"

And this book is no different. The continued drawing in to the world for the reader is one of my favourit le things about this series.

I won't post too much about the story line as I think the blurb says it all. But all our favourites are there and there are a few laugh out loud moments. I loved it and long may the series

Here we are in the 19th book of the Detective Kim Stone series and the series still has a lot of pull. Last we had seen Kim Stone and her team, they had formed a close bond, with each member going through a significant phase in their life. We had also seen that Detective Stacey had become the obsessive attention of a stalker whom she had interviewed as part of an investigation.

This book starts a couple of months after the pervious book's events and we see that she has not revealed this situation to anyone in her life, including her wife and team, in spite of being deeply affected by the stalking. Meanwhile, Stone and her team investigate bizarre murders of victims who are connected to a Boy's Correctional Home, with the murderer promising that there will be more victims. When Stacey's stalker dies of a freak accident on the road, things get more complicated for Stacey and her wife Devon, and also for Stone as she is determined that Stacey's career shouldn't get affected because of this small misjudgement.

Who killed the stalker? Who is the one killing these men? And why is he doing it?

Angela Marsons has yet again crafted a fast-paced and crisp story which grips the reader's attention from the onset. Soon as they start reading, the reader is puled into the police station with its unique occupants. We struggle along with the team, feel the satisfaction of a job well done and try to make sense of the perpetrator so that he doesn't amass any more victims.

The most satisfying part for me is the fact that the identity of it killer actually was a surprise. I definitely did not see that coming. And the identity of the person who had killed the stalker, though not surprising, felt justified. I however had a small problem with the final few chapters; they felt a bit long and I feel they could have been shortened a bit more. Otherwise, this is another book, and characters, I enjoyed very much. Can't wait to read more of Kim Stone.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Leaving reviews for Angela Marson usually makes me feel like a broken record. I love the Kim Stone so much. It took 18 books before I finally found something that annoyed me (Stacey's behaviour with a suspect) and I will admit Stacey did annoy me a little in this book too but thats what makes Angela Marsons such an amazing writer. She makes you care about the characters. The way that Kim has thawed as a person over the books and even....prepare yourself...chuckled in this book is brilliant.

Storywise theres no surprisings - its gripping, fast paced murder mystery and just bloody brilliant.

Now, here's an author that just has taken my breathe away from her very first book back in November 2019, when I became hooked from her very first book called First Blood, in the Detective Kim Stone series.

Bad Blood by Angela Marsons is the 😲 nineteenth book in the brilliant Detective Kim Stone's series and this series is one of the best series of books out there at the moment. These books just never bore me they just get better and better. I wonder what case Kim will get next, Looking forward to it whatever it is!

I love these books and Angela is a 1st class author.

I highly recommend this book and a great holiday read.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

Big Thank you to Bookouture via NetGalley for providing a digital ARC of Bad Blood by Angela Marsons for review.

BAD BLOOD is the 19th book in the D.I. Kim Stone crime-thriller series by best-selling author Angela Marsons. This novel can be read as a standalone. Angela Marsons remains one of my favorite mystery authors, and her publisher, Bookouture, always publishes the very best novels. I have read all of her books…and she keeps getting better. I don’t want this series to end!

It was so refreshing to touch base with Kim’s CID team again: DS Bryant, DS Penn, and DC Stacey Wood. Her team are driven and compassionate in their work. The characters keep getting stronger and stronger. We also touch base with Kim’s boss, DCI Woodward, Alison Lowe, the behaviorist, Keats, the local pathologist, and Mitch, the lead forensic technician and …and who could forget Kim’s faithful dog, Barney. Love that dog!

Detective Kim Stone and her colleague, DS Bryant are called to a crime scene, by the local pathologist, Keats. The victim is lying under the trees in the park, with his arms raised above his head and his legs spread apart. There are no signs of life. But he is not quite dead… Paramedics desperately try to save the victim’s life, but the victim is declared dead on arrival at the hospital…a dead body with no obvious cause of death and no real proof of any crime being committed. All evidence at the scene has been destroyed.

The victim was Eric Gould, who seemed ordinary on the surface, until the team dig into his past. When he was a teenager, he was locked away for attacking his girlfriend, domestic abuse and Kim suspects he was recently hurting his fiancé.

Then a second victim, Paul Brooks, a convicted rapist is found dead.

After further investigation, they discover that as boys, they were both part of a group of six who bragged about their terrible crimes. The group of six-The Psycho Six and included: Eric Gould, Paul Brooks, Nathan Yates, Dean Newton, Leyton Parker and Ian Perkins-their leader. Both victims spent time at a young offender’s institution-Welton Hall. The victim’s actions at Welton had terrorized the staff and other inmates. None of them had changed from when they were teens.

Kim must track down the rest of the six, before the killer strikes again.

But at the same time one of her team is suffering and being terrorized and Kim tries to understand why this person never came forward to advise their boss of the situation.

This was a fast-paced crime thriller, with relatable characters, and short chapters that kept the suspense level high. The book ends with a reveal you will never see coming. Another brilliant read that gripped you from beginning to the end. Another winner!

My thanks to the author, Bookouture and Netgalley for my digital copy.

The blood may be bad, but the book certainly is not! Kim's back, and she has trouble on her hands in the shape of murder victims who are dead, then they're not. But oof there they go again. The victims were all young offenders, seemingly on the straight and narrow....or were they? Kim can't feel too sorry for the victims but vows for their loved ones to stop the killer.

As fabulous as always, this series never seems to get old. Obviously, it's a 5 star novel.

Love love the Kim stone series and this one did not disappoint. So easy to read but equally thrilling. A great instalment of this series and can’t wait to read more!

I'm so happy that I picked this book up - I've discovered a new series and a new author that I like. I don't know how I missed reading so many of her books. I had heard of Angela Marsons, but somehow did not get around to reading one of her books until now. This is the 19th book in the DI Kim Stone series - I've got a lot of catching up to do!

A body is found, posed into the shape of a letter. The ME pronounced the man dead, but then he had a slight pulse. Maybe he could be saved. Then there are move victims. The investigation takes a lot of twists and turns that kept me focused and tearing through the pages.

Another part of the story happening at the same time is one of Kim Stone's teammates, Stacy, is being stalked, but she doesn't want to tell her teammates. There's quite a bit to follow here too.

I really enjoyed the plot and the investigation. I liked the Kim Stone character who is a tough cookie, but you can tell she really cares about her team and would do anything for them. I recommend this book to anyone who likes good crime drama.

Thanks to Bookouture through Netgalley for an advance copy.
