I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me intrigued. I loved the way Kim and her team tried solving the murders. I love the way Angela writes by keeping you on your toes. Totally recommend this well-written book.
Thank you to Angela Marsons, NetGalley, and Bookouture for an ARC of this book.
It is hard to believe that Angela Marsons has written the 19th book in the Kim Stone series and once more kept the plot unique and tantalizing. Her books always go to the top of my To Be Read list and present compelling and well-crafted mystery plots. Detective Kim Stone remains gruff and outspoken but very protective and supportive of her staff. I love how Kim and her team have developed and grown since the beginning. The mystery has surprising twists and can be read as a stand-alone. Still, it is helpful to have some insight into how the supporting characters have developed under Kim's guidance and Kim's horrifying backstory.
I found there was too much emphasis on the stalker, who is causing much turmoil in Stacey's home life and her ability to work effectively. By keeping this secret, she has lost the trust of other major characters. Even after the stalker is killed by a motor vehicle, he remains at the forefront of her mind. Will she regain her stability and the support of the two people of greatest importance in her life? Was the stalker's death a case of vigilante justice for the way he had interfered with Stacey's ability to function?
Meanwhile, Kim and her team are investigating the unusual murder of a man, and soon, two others are killed in a similar manner. What could be the method and motive for the murders? These deaths seem to go back a decade, when the victims were incarcerated in an institute for young, violent offenders. They were part of a gang of six who terrorized both the staff and other inmates. Now, the investigation moves to save the other three still alive. It becomes apparent that the murders are a case of vigilante justice, perhaps to keep them from committing similar crimes again. Not everything is obvious in this very complex case.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this much-appreciated ARC. Bad Blood is due for publication on November 15. Recommended for readers looking for a compelling, complex police procedural.
Firstly I would like to thank netgalley and Bookoutune and the fantastic author Angela marsons for an early copy of her book to read.

This book will be reviewed on goodreads and Amazon uk.
Love Kim Stone and all her team, it’s like spending time with family and friends when you pick up another book from the series and catch up with their latest case.
This time it starts out with a body that isn’t quite dead when Keats goes to the scene, this is the start of an investigation into a killer leaving bodies posed in a series of letters as well as posting on twitter about the crimes.
Can the team work out what connects the victims and identify the killer before their work is complete whilst working out some issues between themselves?
I hope this series continues for a long time yet!
Somehow along the way, I missed the last couple books in Angela Marsons’ Kim Stone series, so it was wonderful to pick up again with number 19, Bad Blood. As usual, this proved to me a spellbinding mystery as Kim, Bryant, Penn, and Stacey race against the clock to stop a serial killer.
It all begins when Stone and Bryant are called to a bizarre scene where a victim’s body has been arranged in a peculiar fashion and the man is proclaimed dead, only to find that he’s not – not quite yet. The puzzle evolves as word of the killing gets out on social media, and now Kim must consider the possibility of vigilante involvement. When another death occurs, and then another, she has her team delve into the victims’ pasts, and finds connections that cannot be ignored.
There’s a complication amidst the frenzy that cannot be ignored. One of the team members has been harassed in their personal life, which should have been reported; now it is disturbing for the entire team. It puts vigilantism in a different perspective. However, as law enforcement officials, they are required to follow the law. Aren’t they?
This team is superb. They have one another’s backs. Even the “guv”, although she may not always show her softer, caring side, will back up her team. Even when they disagree, they manage to pull together to do their jobs. And they do them together very, very well. I worked hard to try to figure out the culprit, and although there were clues, I did not get it right.
I received a digital copy of Bad Blood in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutur, and the author. Publication date is November 15.
This series just gets better and better. I’m so invested in Kim and her team, and that’s what makes this series so great, I feel like I’m reading about people I know.
Angela Marsons manages to draw you in from the first few pages - a serial killer plus the personal lives of the team equals a page turner!
This is not my first Kim Stone book and although it is fine as a stand alone, knowing some of the previous cases [rivières a lot more context. The team are called to the first victim, just barely still alive. As the victims count goes up, they realize they may have a vigilante at work. Stacy has secrets of her own and these do stem from a previous case.
This series would make a wonderful television series. The team dynamics are fun to follow and the mysteries move quickly. Kim is a damaged leader and knowing a bit of her past also helps with the series. I actually thought I figured out the end, but there was a twist at the last scene. The author makes these stories a cross between a police procedural and a fast paced thriller.
I am looking forward to the next one in the series. Thank you to the publisher, Netgalley and Angela Marsons for an ARC to read, enjoy, and review.
The first victim they find is placed in a funny position which looks like a letter he was pronounced dead at the scene but he was alive he is the first but it soon becomes apparent they have a serial killer in their midst they have to find the killer before he strikes again also to add to the story, unbeknown to Kim one of the team Stacy has to deal with a stalker which is terrifying. ,
It’s a brilliant series I can’t believe it’s the 19th I feel I know Kim Stone very well can’t wait for the next one,
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC
Love love love the DI Kim Stone series and this latest instalment was just as fantastic and addictive as the others. I have read all 18 previous books and I am still as invested in the team and the crimes they investigate now as I was in the beginning.
Each book brings a different dynamic to the team and this time the drama surrounding Stacey at the end of the last book, came to a head and tested that family dynamic that she has with Kim and her wife Devon.
Throw in a long held history between a group of young boys in a young offenders and several dead bodies and you have an unputdownable plot. I raced through this book, eager to keep turning the pages. Anticipating what would happen next and who the killer would turn out to be, whilst unearthing a whole host of buried secrets.
I love this series and highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in return for an honest review.
This has been a favourite series since I started reading them back in 2017. With each new book, I’m drawn straight into Kim’s World. This time however, instead of binge reading in one go I savoured it, a couple of chapters at a time. I never want the next instalment to end so I thought I’d take my time, absorb what I was reading to fully appreciate the story and also, so I could prolong the end.
It’s was just as I expected. A gripping, twisty storyline full of intriguing chapters. A brilliantly written cast of characters each with their own storylines which enables you to not only enjoy a new serial killer but also the parallels that make this such a firm long standing police procedural with scope to continue for many more books.
I love how the chapters flow from one to another and link up as the team work through evidence, I love the little quips between the team. It really captures the relationships they have both in their professional and personal lives.
I feel I know Kim Stone in ways I’d know friends and family. I know her mannerisms, I know how she’ll react to certain situations, you feel the hurt, frustration, sadness and anger bet character as well as the others feel. As with finishing each book, I can’t wait for the next.
I think Aagela Marsons is an excellent writer with a knack for drawing a reader into a story. Bad Blood is no exception.
It links back to the previous installment of the Kim Stone series but it isn't necessary to have read it in order to enjoy this.
Bodies are appearing quickly - more quickly than Kim and the team are prepared for. One of the team isn't performing at their usual high standard and the dynamic of the team is slightly off. These are challenges everyone has to overcome in order to catch a rather unconventional murderer.
The reader is led at a pace through a series of leads to discover and catch the murderer and work out why they are killing people. What is the link between them?
A real page-turner. I could barely put it down.
Bad Blood by Angela Marsons is book 19 in the DI Kim Stone series. It starts off with humour and this continues throughout, but there is certainly a serious side to the story. Stacey is causing concern as she is far from her usual self and her work is suffering. And, of course, there are bodies piling up. Answers may lie in the past to help solve the case. Angela has a great way with words, great dialogue, and pulls you into the story. The banter between Bryant and Kim is just wonderful. This series has certainly kept up its high level of suspense and intrigue, even after 19 books. Angela Marsons is a wonderful storyteller and superb at building tension and getting the reader to feel all manner of emotions during the story. I am already looking forward to book 20.
A dead body is discovered... Or is he dead? An unusual series of attacks lead Kim Stone and her team to investigate. As usual this was a brilliant entry to the series, I think this was my favourite one yet. Great plot and also loved hearing how the team were doing. Fantastic!
I don't read many police procedurals, but this is positively one of best series I have stumbled across. I have loved Kim Stone from the first book, she is after all, the character who drew me in!
Ok... Angela, WHAT!? Oh. My. Gods! Bad Blood was insanely good! It was so nice to be able to dive right back into this series with the characters I love so much. This was a pretty dark and messed up book, with people being found on the brink of death, while Kim and her team have to once again, find out what is happening, who is doing it and why.
Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
As usual this series goes from strength to strength and I love the different characters stories. The end was a good twist too. #BadBlood #NetGalley
Detective Kim Stone has a new one - a crime scene with no dead body! The man was still alive - barely, but doesn’t survive. His body had been placed into what looked like a shape.
Then another man is found - also almost dead, with his limbs broken to form a shape, and Kim realises that someone is trying to get revenge. The men had been part of a gang of six at a young offender’s institution, and it looks like someone is trying to get rid of them all.
Kim and her team have to find the other four members of the gang before they are killed, but there are a few people with connections to the institution.
Another great read by. Angela Marsons.
Oh man what a book. If you are a Kim Stone fan you are in for a treat. As good as the best that have preceded it. I honestly don’t know how Marsons keeps these stories so fresh and vibrant. 19 books into the series and it’s as good as it’s ever been.
I think Angela Marsons and Chris Carter have the best double digit police procedural series out there. I mean this had all the vigour and energy of a first time writer with the craft and polish of a seasoned pro.
If I could give this 6 stars I would. Bravo Miss Marsons. Bravo.
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC through Netgalley.
OMG! This series is amazing. This book has a great story line which had me hooked and you can't help getting emotionally attracted to the characters. I'm looking forward to reading more.
I would highly recommend to everyone. You must read Angela's books.
How does she do it? This series gets better with each new book. An automatic read (or should I say devour) for me. The characters are fabulous and the Author truly makes you care about them and what they go through both at work and at home. Stacy goes through a lot in this book. I hope this series continues for a long time. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
Kim and her team are back and wow what a return!!
Before I detail how much I utterly loved this addition to the DI Kim Stone series I just wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to Angie for the sudden and unexpected loss of her mother.
Book 19! And Angie is still top of her game. Every book she writes I cannot wait to read and I’m never disappointed. Kim faces a lot of issues in this book mostly around the theme of family and justice. Her team is her family and they’re all going through life changing moments, needing their work family more than ever and it’s a new ‘strain’ on Kim’s abilities to understand doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest or legally right thing.
The scene where Alison’s character is revived is my personal favourite. I just love how single minded Kim can be in her pursuit of what she wants or needs. She never stops to consider that a simple please might actually work in her favour and yet her stubbornness to avoid that word is hilarious.
Love, love, love this book! I can’t say anymore for fear of spoiling it for others but all you need to know is Angela Marsons + DI Kim Stone = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
