So many great twists! I love a psychological thriller that keeps me on my toes and this book did just that. I was invested in the characters and I found the writing easy to follow. It kept me hooked until the end.

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley. I was intrigued by the concept and the fact that it was debut fiction.
This Mystery / Thriller is set mostly in London with some time in Cornwall and France. It is written in the two female voices of Elena and Sophia, switching neatly between the two. Elena iis house sitting in Wimbledon when she meets Sophia and essentially she want Sophia's life, her money, breeding confidence, husband. The chance to have the latter falls neatly into her lap whenSophia suggest a husband swop with a twist - the men will be unaware that it has ever happened - Is this in any way credible? Well the book certainly suggests it could be.
There are obviously undertones to this switch that do not become clear , or at least not from the author's pen. In my opinion there is very little that is surprising in how the narrative pans out.
The Characters are not particularly lovable - both partnerships feel unequal and potentially coercive or abusive. It is uncomfortable reading at times
The ending is positively unbelievable and also a bit of a let down. I would expect the narrative to build in intensity but I just felt it was unrealistic.
I thought the concept was doable the inital play between the two female characters and the build up to the first switch had me more than enjoying the book, but it was a downhill read from there.
I am not sure I would be drawn to more by this author but, never say never.
Overall it is better than a 2 star read but not really 3 stars either but GR only lets me choose one or the other - I shall be kind

interesting premise and a quick read but there’s really not that much to the story (kinda repetitive) and I went in and out of enjoying it. the reveal definitely had me gagged tho

Thank you Random House UK, Cornerstone | Century and Netgalley for the eArc of The Switch,
This is the first book by Lily Samson and unfortunately I found it a little hard to get into. It definitely has some good elects and it's quite dark and mysterious but found both the plot and characters felt a little flat which was a shame. I will be looking for more of lily's work in the future.
3 stars

What a brilliant premise for a book. I was hooked from page one. When Elena and Adam meet up with Sophia and Finn it seems like the ideal friendship. However, it isn't long before boundaries become blurred and what starts out as a fun idea between the two women soon escalates into something much darker. Just what is the secret behind Finn and Sophia's seemingly idyllic relationship and how will this impact all their futures? Full of twists and turns. Brilliant!

An interesting concept with lots of twists and turns along the way! The story picked up quickly and I couldn’t put it down

A gripping read, albeit a bit unbelievable at times. The ending did disappoint me a little as I was expecting a lot more after the book as a whole. Good characters and a fascinating plot.

Wow! What a fantastic book. I’ve never read anything quite like this but I thoroughly enjoyed it! So much that I’d reread again so soon! A great story line. Definitely not conventional but it drew me in and I kept wanting to read to see what happens next
The characters are fab! You really get a sense of who they are as people and can understand each one of them and their own personalities
The twists at the end were brilliant and just kept coming! I’m looking forward to exploring more books by this author
1000 out of 10!

I have absolutely loved this book!
Sophia made for a very interesting villain, as we could always kind of feel that she is off in some way. The ending however left me a bit sad, cause technically nothing happened. Sophia got what she wanted, Adam lost all his balls and got back with Lorraine and Finn got to keep the best of both worlds to say. So essencially the last fight was for nothing, Elena lost all her spine.
But overall this was totally a 4 star book and i recommend it for the spooky season.

Well that was an interesting storyline an to say I was hooked is an understatement. I couldn’t stop myself so much so I had both the audio and the ebook on the go. It’s a bit of a different storyline which is always good. It has a well developed plot and characters that you will have all the feelings about. It moves at a steady pace and keeps you guessing but has many a twist thrown in for good measure. Loved this one and raging it’s taken me so long to get to it on my TBR list.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the opportunity to listen and review #TheSwitch

Thank you NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my free and honest Review. I must say that when I began reading this novel, I thought I had accidentally selected something from a more risqué genre that I needed to rethink. 😊 However, I continued reading, fortunately, and eventually discovered the plot had thickened into a more familiar setting. Amazing storyline that intrigued me, found me empathizing with the characters, and eventually wanting good to prevail. I won’t spoil the ending but I definitely recommend this book!

Grabbed me from the first page. The premise is a bit unbelievable but it kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed this book.

A very bizarre and far-fetched plot. but a strangely enjoyable read.
The twist was unexpected, the ending a little odd - that said I've never read anything like it and that's a good thing.
3 stars.

The Switch is a psychological thriller packed with wild twists, relationship drama, and an intriguing cast of characters. When Elena and Adam meet another couple, Sophia and Finn, during their stay at a new location, their lives quickly become intertwined. A game suggested by Sophia spirals into a web of secrets, lies, and new infatuations, revealing a completely different life than what they knew. The writing hooked me from the start, and although the story is outlandish, that's what makes it so captivating—every great thriller needs a touch of insanity! While the pacing slowed a bit in the second half, it wasn’t enough to dampen my interest, as I found myself constantly reaching for this book over others.

The premise upon which this was based felt a little far fetched, but the story was well-written and the plot tightly crafted. The storyline refers explicitly to a similar Roald Dahl storyline and is also has echoes of Patricia Highsmith’s Ripley novels. Interesting but slightly too contrived to be completely believable.

The Switch by Lily Samson is a delightful and heartwarming story that combines elements of romance, self-discovery, and humor. It truly has it all.
Samson's writing is both witty and evocative, painting vivid pictures of the worlds the characters inhabit. The dual POV of both the characters helps to understand the story more fully.
One of the best features of The Switch is its well-developed characters. Both leads are relatable and endearing, with distinct personalities that make their journeys both believable and enjoyable.
The plot is well-paced, balancing moments of lighthearted fun with deeper, more emotional scenes. Samson has navigated themes of identity, personal growth, and the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone.
The Switch by Lily Samson is a great pick for anyone looking for a feel-good story with relatable characters and an engaging plot. Highly recommended for fans of contemporary fiction and romantic comedies.

When new friends Elena and Sophia come up with the idea to switch partners for the night without their husband's knowing they have it all worked out. It's a way to get out of the rut they're both stuck in without having an affair but whose idea was the switch really, and can they possibly get away with it for a second or even third time? What happens when emotions start to affect this plan?
This was a fun read with a lot of twists I didn't see coming and some truly jaw dropping moments! 😱
Not all the characters are likeable but when you uncover more of their backstory you start to learn what's moulded them to be the way they are. The pace zips along and the multiple POV and timelines give more depth to the story. A great holiday read!

Never read this author.
But it gripped me from the first page to the last.
Will b looking for more books.

This is a very strange book with an odd concept. I can't believe that anyone would agree to a switch in real life, so this whole story seemed increasingly unrealistic throughout.
The author mentions the idea coming from a Roald Dahl book, but she also mentions in passing, the author Virgina Andrews, and I feel this story has also had some inspiration from 'flowers in the attic' which also contains incest between siblings.
I didn't enjoy the unrealistic feel of the story. The characters weren't particularly likeable, and I personally felt the ending was predictable. I had guessed all the twists well before they happened, which may be because I read a lot of this genre, but there was nothing surprising.

This has been sitting on my book shelf for a while and I now wish that I had read it sooner. I really enjoyed this dark, and at times far fetched domestic thriller. It’s the first time I’ve read anything by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last!
