This definitely gave me 'couple next door vibes' (TV drama) as glam couple Sophia and Finn pull ordinary couple Adam and Elena into their world. Elena is sucked in by Sophia and before long agrees to an absolute crazy plan.
I figured out before the reveal the real reason why Sophia and Finn had so many secrets (trying not to give away spoilers). I also wasn't surprised by the final part of the epilogue, I thought that was where the story was heading.
This was a good read, I felt highly suspicious of all the characters and agree with Sophia that Adam is a bit dumb!
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.
Would You?
Two couples meet. A wife suggests a husband switch (but not how you would expect). Do they go ahead? What will happen if they do?
Tension ramps up throughout the book. With plenty of surprises thrown in.
I did work out some plot quite early on, but there's more!

Mind blowing.
Two couples. One twisted game of love and obsession. A dark domestic thriller about the dangerous secrets that come to light when a wild fantasy turns sinister. . .
When young couple Elena and Adam are offered the chance to house-sit in their dream neighborhood for a few months, they jump at the opportunity. The leafy South London enclave is a world away from everything they know, complete with grand homes, lush gardens, and quaint local coffee shops. Soon Elena crosses paths with the beautiful and enigmatic artist Sophia and her husband, Finn, and she and Adam are pulled into their orbit. Sophia is everything Elena isn’t—glamorous, alluring, successful—and Finn exerts a mysterious pull on Elena that she can’t seem to shake.
Elena’s infatuation with Finn grows stronger by the day, and when Sophia proposes a thrilling game to her new friend—to swap partners in secret—Elena quickly agrees. It’s not long before Elena experiences a sexual awakening that blossoms into an illicit love affair, but Sophia’s plans are far more dangerous than Elena could ever have imagined.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Cornerstone Century for giving me an advance copy.
overall I enjoyed the book. it wasn't what I was expecting when I set out but it was a good quick read and the twist at the end was needed.
Well, I have just finished this book, and that’s saying something as I only started it yesterday. This story was just what I needed after reading some very dark, messed up books (Thanks John Marrs 😂). More relationship drama/couples behaving badly than anything too traumatising.
The story follows Elena and Adam who become friends with a charming new couple, Sophia and Finn. Elena is drawn in by Sophia’s life, a painter, popular on instagram , beautiful house and a gorgeous husband who she finds herself attracted to. When Sophia suggests they swap partners, without the partners actually knowing, Elena is tempted and drawn into the game. However, as the story unravels things are not all as they seem with Finn and Sophia.
This book was fast paced and had short chapters which I love. It drew me straight in. Although I found the concept of swapping partners without telling your partner a little unbelievable, especially getting away with it on several occasions, I’ve not read anything like this and was intrigued.
The story is mostly told from Elena’s POV but later on you start to get some chapters from Sophia’s POV, which starts to reveal some of the secrets. There is a lot more to the story than just a simple game of partner swapping. The secrets start to come out and you don’t know who to believe. I was questioning people’s versions of events. I did not see the twist coming at all!
I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a fast paced, twisty read. I believe it is the authors debut novel, I really enjoyed this and look forward to seeing what else will be coming from her in the future.
Thanks netgalley and Random house for approving me to read this.
When Elena and Adam move to Wimbledon, they meet the charismatic couple Sophie and Finn. Elena and Sophie become close, then Sophie suggests they switch partners for a night without their husbands knowing. This has unexpected consequences for all the participants.
The story is mostly told by Elena. I enjoyed it at the start, but the later sections related by Sophie changed the tone of the book, and I found ita bit silly. I did guess the plot twist early on.
A fascinating read which reminded me of old Hollywood thrillers of the era of Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. The setting in Cornwall had remnants of Daphne du Maurier, and the Wimbledon location I found oddly comforting as I know it well.
Samson has not yet finessed her style to the excellence of du Maurier, but one can see heaps of potential.
A thriller that keeps you interested and invested, then the switch in pace will have you hooked. Without giving anything away, I did find the main twist become obvious by the time the characters had arrived in the south of France, but I do have a terrible habit of figuring out 'whodunnit' long before the author intended 🙈
I would say for a debut novel, Ms Samson has produced a rather good tome which will be enjoyed by many.
I enjoyed this book however it did take an unexpected turn towards the end. There should be a warning for this. Overall a good thriller
I didn't know if I could read this after seeing others reviews, and it being so different to my normal reads. BUT.... I am so thrilled that I did! It was utter brilliance. I couldn't put it down, I needed to see how it ended, and how the characters worked out. It still shocked me to the very end and that to me is an amazing storyline.
Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t quite ‘get’ the premise at first and I thought it was quite slow but I persevered and it ended up pretty good.
Slow burn.
This book was so good! It was intriguing and really drawed me in. I'll be reading more of this authors work.
A good page turner, didn't see the twist coming. Overall enjoyable read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC
This book blew me away. I loved it.
Elena and Adam are invited to housesit in Wimbledon. A chance for them to put money aside to save for there own place. They soon meet Sophia and Finn, a charming couple who live close by. Elena and Sophia strike up a friendship and open themselves up over glasses of wine. Sophia then makes to bold suggestion. To put some spark back into their lives they should do a switch. Swap places during the night and seduce each others husbands without them knowing.
The scheme does not come without it's issues.
Although the plot is a little far fetched the book is brilliant and I enjoyed it cover to cover.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher to see an arc
The Switch is a complete rollercoaster and I loved reading this dark thriller. Samson had be completely hooked with all the twists and amazing characters, I never knew what was going to happen next. This truly felt unique and unlike most other 'domestic' thrillers out there and I really recommend.
This book might be a little far fetched but I really enjoyed it. In fact one of the best books I have read this year, A very good debut book by Lily Samson and I look forward to reading more by this author.
I found this book has an interesting idea but it's utterly ridiculous... I don't know what else to say. It is inconceivable that it would work and even as pure fantasy it just annoyed me.
Oh my goodness, what can I say about "Switch", this story was both gripping and disturbing, It is difficult to write a review on this book without giving away the plot but her goes.
Elena and Adam are a young couple living in a small apartment and desperately saving for a place of their own, they get along well despite Elena doing everything that needs doing in the house and the personal side of their marriage leaving a lot to be desired as far a Elena is concerned. When a chance comes to housesit a beautiful house in the wealthy area of Wimbledon both Elena and Adam don't hesitate to say yes.
A chance encounter introduces Elena to her beautiful, sophisticated neighbour, Sophia and a friendship is born between the two couples, Elena and Adam, Sophia and Finn (who have no idea that Elena and Adam, are from completely different backgrounds).
When Sophia playfully suggests playing a trick on the men by swapping partners without them knowing, a can of worms is about to be opened. Despite Elena's fears the exchanges are planned to the last detail, Elena didn't allow for feelings to get involved, she didn't know how devious Sophia could be, she didn't know Sophia had a long term plan, she didn't know that Sophia and Finn had secrets, she didn't realize the danger that she was in.
This is a story that I read and at no time did I have any clue as to how it would end, it had my attention from the start to the finish.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Well this is quite a book to read.. Not one of my usual types of crime books but I thoroughly recommend it.
It did feel at times as if the book was yet another in the '50 Shades of ...' series.
However I did find the 3 main characters - Elena, Sophie and Finn are all given depth so you feel you know them. Having said that I had great difficulty in working out who was lying and when things said were actually true.
The ENDGAME. Sets off on what I always call a 'Hollywood style ending' and for the first time I.started to lose interest. However there is a really good twist that I felt was right for the book.

TWO COUPLES
Elena and Adam are housesitting in Wimbledon and are instantly seduced by their new upscale surroundings.
Sophia and Finn are their beautiful, enigmatic neighbours who invite them into their world.
ONE TWISTED GAME
When Sophia proposes a wicked game to Elena whereby they will swap partners in secret, it's not long before Elena starts to experience a sexual awakening that blossoms into an illicit love affair.
But Sophia's plans are far more complex and dangerous than Elena could ever have imagined...
WHO WILL SURVIVE?
Woah. Lily Samson's debut is DARK. There's manipulation, sex without consent - assuming both husbands didn't know what was happening - deceit and lies. But, it's all written in such a way that you can't help but be drawn into Sophia's game. And, much like Elena, it just gets more thrilling as the twists appear at every corner.
I can easily imagine this being made into a nail-biting TV adaptation, and will be interested to read the author's next novel.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
*I received an eARC from the publisher via Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Special thanks to Lily Samson for the proof.
Wow! I believe this is Samson's first novel so I am shocked! I enjoyed it so much!
The Switch is a dark tale of frienship, love, obsession, and not only that - it presents the reader with one twist after the other. And then when I thought it was all done and dusted... even more twists! It was a rollercoaster of a novel and even though I know some reviews mention some bits are not that convincing, it was a great read for me!
