I enjoyed the beginning of the book despite the fact the storyline was farfetched however I felt it dragged on too much unfortunately and was glad when I’d finished it. I did enjoy the style of writing changing from each character though.

A strange but engaging story centred around a one night switch where Sophia and her friend Elena change places for one night without their husband’s knowledge. What could possibly go wrong? Tense, fast paced and creepy in places. A great read.

Enjoyed this read a lot. A great build up to the end and I just found the ending very quick and strange. Sophia is so clever to not know Finn has Elena in his other house - living another life every other week. Does Sophia never want to go back to that house.

I’ve not encountered a storyline like this one for a while. Previous one was a DNF for me but this book was written in a way that kept me wanting to read on!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Elena and her long term boyfriend, Adam, houses it for his aunt. Elena is freelance, and is working in a cafe, when she meets Sophia. Sophia is married to Finn and they’ve recently moved to London from Cornwall. Sophia and Elena become good friends, and then decided to switch partners for a night. Surely, that can only bring trouble.

This story started off really fast paced, but the plot was very far fetched. It’s completely full to the brim of lies and deception. There were some twists and turns, but some were predictable. The characters were well written, if not a bit strange. It was okay, but as I said, fairly far fetched in how far the story went. There was a plot hole, with Elena saying she couldn’t drive, to her getting a hire car and driving to Cornwall. Overall, it was an okay read.

Loved this! Really enjoyed the strange storyline and the twists, on you before you know it.
It felt like it ended a bit too quickly though, with some characters just falling a little flat like Megan.
Would definitely recommend though, an easy read and an author i’d look out for in futur.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

The book started off very promising-short, gripping chapters which grabbed my attention and had me turning page after page, desperate to find out what happened next in the plot. Sadly, the further through the book, the more far-fetched and twisted (not in a good way), the plot became. I quickly figured out what the ending would be and was sad upon finishing the book that I was indeed correct. I had hoped there would be an exciting, unforeseen twist near the end which would have made reading the latter two thirds of the book worth it.

I don’t want to give away spoilers, but one of the main ‘secrets’ within the book repulsed me. It was at that revelation in particular that I didn’t want to read anymore. I hate to DNF a book, so did read until the end, but didn’t find the rest of the book enjoyable.

I have seen another reviewer also mention something which stuck out as an obvious blip- one of the main character’s had said that she’d never learned to drive as she could never afford it, but somehow managed to rent a car and drove a 6 hour journey from London to Cornwall? I’m not sure how without a full driving license!

I really wanted to love this book as I like romance and thrillers, but sadly, I personally felt that it fell short.

An excellent debut thriller with what I am sure must be an original concept. When Elena meets Sophia by pure chance it sets in motion a huge rollercoaster of emotional and dangerous liaisons. After befriending Elena, giving her confidence and the boost she badly needs, Sophia suggests the shocking ‘switch’. Unbeknown to their husbands the plan would be to sleep with them pretending they were their wives and then switch back before realisation dawned on either of them. A crazy idea which of course leads to all sorts of repercussions and the consequences will potentially affect them long after they have had their fun. There is a slow build where necessary but also the story has the effect of impending doom as the situation begins to spiral out of control. A huge twist makes the whole story even more shocking and some of it is quite disturbing to read. However this is quite a clever story and one of a vivid imagination that shows the worst of human nature when emotion and feelings become part of the picture. Although love plays a part, this is most definitely not a romance book. Well worth a read.

This is an indulgent and far fetched dramatic book but the sort that you can’t stop reading!!!!! A surburban drama set in Wimbledon about couples who play an elaborate game of deception

This started off great , lovely short chapter but as it went on I lost interest. I found it far fetched and wasn’t my cup of tea.
The end was disappointing and it just didn’t keep me engaged.

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 6th June. This book had it all from love triangles to affairs and everything else in between! This book is a page-turner that amalgamates the thrill of a suspense novel with the sizzle of a steamy romance if you into streamy romance novels this book is for you!

It kept me wanting to read as each chapter was as intriguing as the next. There were many curveballs in this book overall, an enjoyable read! 😊

This really wasn’t for me. Sorry to say it but I didn’t like it at all :( The plot was really problematic and impossible to believe and the characters lacked substance. Then the ending was really predictable at the same time as being extremely contrived. There were a lot of cliches in this book too, and the dialogue wasn’t great. All in all, just not one I enjoyed (and I read it till the end!)

I loved this book! Total page turner, so good I cleared my schedule and read it in a day! So saucy and kept me guessing all the way through. The ending just left me wanting more and there could even be a prequel to this book. The Switch would make an amazing limited series on TV. Would recommend this book to anyone that wants something a little different.

The premise of this book is a bit far-fetched. It gets dark and complicated quite quickly. The twists are predictable and the characters are unlikeable yet I kept on reading until the unrealistic end. It was entertaining in a wild and twisty way.

Disturbingly good is what I would say to describe this book. I wasn’t sure what on earth was going to happen next! It had me hooked but I can’t say I liked all of the characters- there was an eclectic mix for sure. A good read all in all.

Ok - this was different! Not the kind of book I would normally read but it had lots of interesting strands.

Te plot was rather complex and I found much of it a bit strange. I do give the author a lot of credit because despite that I found myself turning pages to find out more.

One aspect that was worth highlighting was the lasting effect of the various types of abuse in families. I could not relate to any of the main male characters at all.

The outcome was unrealistic but much of the plot had the same failing. Unless of course I have led too sheltered a life.

In conclusion I am glad I read the book. It opened my eyes to being more receptive to reading a wider range of book genres.

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC copy of The Switch by Lily Samson. This was the first book I have read by the author. I was quite intrigued because I couldn't understand why couples do this. Once I started reading the story about Adam and Elena, a seemingly happily married couple, my interest was fascinated when Elena met Sophia, who pursuades Elena to switch couples without their partners knowing. Soon everything starts spiralling downhill. An intriguing and bizarre story follows.

Wow wow wow!! I love this book! This is right up my street. There's a bit of romance, a bit of mystery and a lot of tension. It would make a great holiday read and if you are in a reading slump this book will get you out of it. I liked the characters, then I disliked the characters, then I sympathised with the characters, this book takes you on a journey.

Well done to the author. I thought it was fab.

Thank you to netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book for an unbiased review.

Buckle up, readers, because Lily Samson's "The Switch" takes you on a wild ride through the posh streets of Wimbledon, where housesitting turns into a twisted game of passion, secrets, and more surprises than a magician's hat.

Meet Elena and Adam, the unsuspecting housesitters who stumble into the lap of luxury in Wimbledon. But what's a posh neighborhood without a couple of mysterious neighbors? Enter Sophia and Finn, the enigmatic duo with a proposition that's steamier than a cup of English breakfast tea.

The game is simple, or so it seems – a partner swap that kicks off a sensual awakening for Elena. But hold on to your hats because Samson's plot isn't just a romantic dalliance. No, no, no! Sophia's plans are as complex and dangerous as trying to fold a fitted sheet without watching a YouTube tutorial.

As Elena dives into this game of romantic roulette, she finds herself entangled in a web of passion, intrigue, and more unexpected twists than a soap opera. Who knew Wimbledon could be so scandalous?

"The Switch" is a tantalizing page-turner that combines the thrill of a suspense novel with the sizzle of a steamy romance. Samson keeps you guessing until the very end, and just when you think you've got it all figured out, she throws in a curveball that'll leave you reeling.

If you're a fan of love triangles, clandestine affairs, and plots that are juicier than a ripe peach, then "The Switch" is your literary playground. Lily Samson has crafted a story that's as entertaining as it is unpredictable, and trust me, you won't want to put it down. So, grab a glass of wine, find a cozy spot, and prepare for a rollercoaster of passion, suspense, and the unexpected. Cheers to "The Switch" – where love is a game, and the stakes are higher than Centre Court at Wimbledon!

The Switch starts as a real page-turner. I love thrillers with short chapters that you can really sink your teeth into, and this is one of them.

Unfortunately, I quickly lost interest as the plot progressed. The plot twist is frustratingly far-fetched and the ending was incredibly disappointing. There are also some sloppy mistakes, for eg. the main character admits early on that she never passed her driving test due to her low-income upbringing, then she somehow hires a car to drive herself from central London to Cornwall.

Although there was suspense, the 'twists' were predictable and by no means "twisted" or "dangerous" as described. This is a very tame thriller – albeit with some very taboo and problematic subjects – that reminds me a lot of Colleen Hoover.
