The art is beautiful, and I really loved it.

The characters are so diverse, it’s very interesting seeing how despite the art style being the same, it seems almost unique to each character. I despite not being a fan of the genre post apocalyptic, I found myself surprised when I very enjoyed the vibes of it.
Temperance holds a special place in my heart now. And as for the cliffhanger… please I need answers :(

Okay this was so cool, the art is beautiful, and I really loved the premise of the book!

The characters in the book are so diverse, from their temperaments, the way they talk, the way they look. It's almost as the art style changes with different characters. I adored the art of the house you see in the beginning of the story, and how it's suddenly more modern than I anticipated. Which I should have expected with the story and the world being post apocalyptic.

And then you get to the big bad, which was done really well, and I won't go into because it spoils a big part of the story.

Temperance was so brave, protecting the family that cared for her for so long. I'm angry that it ended on a cliffhanger (not really, I'm just mad that I can't continue the story in one go).

And something I also love about graphic novels, is the sketchbooks! there's over 10 pages of sketches of characters and landscapes, it's amazing and I am now going to see if those are made into prints so I can buy some!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This is such a beautiful story and the art style is simply gorgeous! The colouring has been done in a way that really meshes the whole thing together and creates an overarching theme.

The story was a little short but works perfectly as a set up for a continued series. Definitely one to keep an eye out for!

**ARC provided by NetGalley for honest review**

The Mist-Walker by Stéphane Fert was an ominous and mysterious little graphic novel about a possible half-ogre girl who was raised by a coven of witches. They live separately form the humans who despise them, but all fear the encroaching mist that turns men into monsters. Temperance, the half-ogre girl, goes off with some of her family to the source of the mist to try and put an end to it, and try to learn about herself along the way.

Mostly, I thing this one was a miss for me, even though the premise sounded really intriguing. The artwork was stunning, but the characters, for the most part, didn't pull me in or feel fleshed out, and really, not a lot happened in this entry volume. There is a lot of unknowns about the world also, just subtle clues without really any explanation. I'm sure someone out there will love this, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

I loved the art style and adored the color palette used throughout this novel.

In terms of story, it captivated me more than I expected! I was intrigued to learn more about the characters: charming character dynamics and engaging lore.

The last five pages felt a tad rushed. The finale of this volume could have been spread out in a couple more pages.

Love the story and the lesbian rep. I love the relationship between the main character and her grandmother, it was very heartwarming. Can’t wait for the next installment

This was such an atmospheric story. Set in an apocalyptic world, where it seems cities have become abandoned and a dark mist has appeared, very few humans remain. There are the witches and The Lost Ones. This story mainly follows the witches and a young ogress girl, who finds her path as she confronts the shadowy mist and the creatures that it hides.

The story really pulled me in and I read this volume in one sitting. It ended on a heck of a cliffhanger as well.

The art was gorgeous yet a little eerie, I can't wait to read the next volume whenever it's released. Now I have to wait.

This book is a new favourite for me. It is the perfect fall read. You will find yourself loving a community of witches and their half ogre "daughter". It is a great coming of age story. The colour palette really participates in the great atmosphere of the story. All types of bodies and people are represented which is really comforting to see. I cannot wait to see what comes next and will be looking into the author's other works. I will definitely be recommending this to the graphic novel lovers in my entourage.

Thank you to Stéphane Fert & Europe Comics for this ARC of Mist-Walker.

When opening up a new graphic novel there are two equally important things I judge it based on. Firstly the art needs to be cohesive, well done, interesting to look at, and connected to the story. Secondly the story itself needs to make sense in the format, have an interesting plot, and characters I relate to and enjoy. This graphic novel hits both marks with ease.

The art is stunning, ties into the plot, and is used to tell us about the world in the story. We can see how the reds and greys specifically are used to make plot points clear to us, the readers, while tying the art more to the world being built. I also enjoyed the cozy witch vibes of the world being displayed in the art, seeing old women looks like old witchy women is always a true pleasure.

In terms of story, this graphic novel had a story that took off fast, slowed down a bit in the middle of the first half and then by the midway point was speeding along again. The pace could be more smooth, but it help my interest at all points of the plot. I loved the old witchy women, and Temperance's outsider but lovable persona was easy to like.

All in all I would highly recommend giving this a read if you enjoy cozy, witchy, worlds with a touch of dystopia and lesbianism.

I received and ARC of this book at no cost/for free, I am leaving this review voluntarily and all thoughts and opinions are wholly my own and unbiased.

This is exactly my type of graphic novel both in subject matter and art style so my opinion may be biased from the start. I loved every page and every shift between color palettes of blues, purples and pinks, to oranges, yellows and red.
A truly gorgeous and moody read.

The Mist-Walker was a magical witchy graphic novel. The art is stunning! I really enjoyed this one. The world building was done really good and so was the magic system. I loved this witches. This one did get dark at some points. I definitely recommend this one!

Such a fun adventure, I am already itching for the next instalment as I really want to know what happens next for Temperance! I want to know the lore and history of the world they're living in. And I absolutely love the sassy granny witches, I need them in my life.

While Reading:

I had lavender tea and listened to a witchy playlist on my Spotify while i devoured this graphic novel!

Pros:

-Cover art…absolutely enchanting and gives a glimpse of who the main character is and the adventure they will be going on. The color palette matches the rest of the graphic novel as well. Flowed very well depicting emotion and action. The artwork and character design gave me cozy rpg game vibes. I could gush about the artwork all day but you should see it for yourself!

-It had magical lore, quirky characters and a ALL FEMALE CAST! I loved the character’s different personalities and quirks so much.

-The world building absolutely had me invested, it left me wanting to know more about other parts like “The Old Ones” or “The Mist”. I feel like this volume focused on introducing everyone and the world and the next will expand it even more and I personally can NOT wait for that(:

-There’s empowering nudity scenes, profanity and some badass feminist fury to behold!

-Had a sub plot of romance between Temperance and the human Helen, it felt kinda rushed but I still enjoyed their scenes.

-Very easy read, flowed very well and loved the flashbacks to connect more with the characters especially Grisette.

Cons:

-My heart was ripped out by one of the witches death and one that got deeply injured. (Not really a con just put me in shock)

-Umm..cliffhanger to the extreme like I need to know if my witches are okay!

-That I have to wait for the second volume.

Would I recommend?:

If you like fantasy, witches, ogres, aesthetically pleasing art then this is for you!

I recieved a free e-arc from Netgalley to review for my honest opinion.

"A lone tree will not protect us from the storm".

Heroic feminist fantasy, post-apocalyptic fairy tale in which humans are true beasts, beasts are sometimes shapeshifters, and witches and ogres hold what's left of humanity in their hearts - before the murderous fog swallows them all up.

Grisette the witch flees, hunted by the angry mob that her husband, human as can be, cannot control. Wounded, she collapses in the middle of a gathering of witches, clutching a baby - a little girl with red eyes and sharp teeth...

Eighteen years later, Temperance, the ogress, has become the daughter of the whole village - and is preparing for the rite of passage, even though Grisette has always refused to teach her any spells... But everyone has their own place in the world, and Temperance The Mist Walker will soon discover hers.

I'm a big fan of Stéphane Fert - he's always been a brilliant artist with a very recognisable style, and over the years and albums he's also become a great storyteller, who knows how to keep the tension up, release it with smiles and provide reading levels to marvel children and adults alike. Don't hesitate - enter the magical, frightening and wise world of The Mist Walker. Like all great stories, this one hides the secrets of real life.

Disclaimer: I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This didn't influence my opinion in any way.

The Mist-Walker was a delight to read from start to finish. I was blown away by the artwork from the very first page and the story instantly grabbed my attention.

This art style is absolutely phenomenal. I feel like I say this every time, but this is genuinely one of my favourites of all time. It’s stunning and so beautifully stylised. I’m a big fan of really colourful graphic novels but I also like the dialled-down monochromatic ones. The blues and pinks used in The Mist-Walker are two of my favourite colours and they just look so good. Sorry, I’ll stop gushing about the artwork now.

I will say that the story, for me, was overshadowed by the artwork just slightly. However, it was quite interesting. I’m still a little confused about what The Mist is and where it came from, but I’m intrigued enough to want to read the next instalment.

The cast of characters was so much fun and I adored the character designs, especially Temperance and Asma - absolutely gorgeous. They all had very distinct personalities and I enjoyed their little backstories, hopefully, we learn more about them in future volumes.

The story leaves you on a cliffhanger and I’m 100% looking forward to the next volume, I need to know what is going on and who/what Temperance is. I’d definitely recommend The Mist-Walker.

Thank you so much for an e-ARC of this, I loved reading it!

The Mist-Walker is the story of Temperance, a half-ogre raised by witches since she was a child. However when the time comes for her initiation ceremony, an evening of celebration and frivolity turns to something much darker very quickly. But can Temperance find a way to save those she holds most dear to her?

The art in this is sensational - the varied colour palettes ranging from the deep purples of the misty forest to the warm autumnal wash of the village squash patch was so satisfying, and the range of characters was brilliantly depicted too. I loved the variety of bodytypes (and I was thrilled to see that the artist is not afraid of subtle nudity and embracing body positivity!) which was a lovely bonus. I also thought some of the panels in which there was no dialogue were some of the most striking, which is always a testament to skill!

This title ends on a CLIFFHANGER though so be warned - you will be desperate to know what happens next! I'm also so curious to see where the sapphic romance leads as I'm really hoping this develops and is explored in a more intentional and fleshed out way in the next installment.

I would definitely recommend this as a beautifully crafted and perfect read for spooky season!

Thank you for the arc.

The illustrations and colours are absolutely beautiful, and they carry the story to another level. Really adds to the emotional side of it.

I must admit, that my attention dropped a few times, I can't say if it's the storyline or the flow. Overall a beautiful piece.

The art is absolutely lovely and the story was a great. I do agree with other reviewers that it could have been a bit longer to get a bit more fleshed out. On a more personal note, I'm not sure if it was my screen, my eyes or what, but I found the font difficult to read at points. I still enjoyed it and would recommend it for someone interested.
