First off, this is NOT a kids’ book, which I thought it was, so I was surprised to see such a mature subject matter. It includes foul language, nudity, and adult content. After getting over my initial shock, it was an interesting story but not my favorite graphic novel that I’ve ever read.
The illustrations are beautiful. I really enjoyed this art style and color palette. It helped to tell the story in a fun, unique way. The scenes in the forest were gorgeous!
Overall, it’s an interesting post-apocalyptic story about witches, a half-ogre, and creatures of the dark, or in this case, in the mist. But I felt like there was a lot going on, and at times, it felt a bit muddled and confusing. There wasn’t much cohesiveness throughout the whole novel. There were a lot of characters in this story, and unfortunately, we didn’t get too in-depth with character development or backstories, so it was hard for me to connect with any of them. I didn’t feel like I was fully invested in any character, so I did start to lose interest in the story.
Also, why do men who write about female ogres usually make them lesbians? (Legends & Lattes also did this.) I feel like making female ogres (and in this case, also witches) gay is cliche and stereotypical, which is just plain boring and tiresome. It feels like lazy writing to me.
While I enjoyed the camaraderie and found family element of the witch coven (and there was quite a bit of humor), they bickered A LOT. It felt like they were arguing more often than not, which I didn’t care for, and it started to annoy me. However, when it mattered, they were there for each other and helped one another. I also enjoyed watching Temperance, the half-ogre, come into her power and realize her strengths. We see the most character development with her, but I wanted a lot more so that I could care more. But this is very witchy and perfect for Halloween/Spooky Season.
The story felt a bit rushed, especially toward the end. There is a cliffhanger ending and many open questions, which I don’t like because now I feel obligated to pick up the next volume to see what happens. I’m not sure if I care enough to move on to book two at this moment. Maybe… but it was all just okay for me. The artwork was the best part of this novel.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC of this book.
Temperance is an ogress raised by witches in a little village in a world where a magical mist transforms into monsters anyone who ends up trapped in it.
It is a beautiful witchy story about women, nature and balance with incredible artstyle that's perfect for this time of the year.

I loved this. From the story to the way it is told and even the designs, color and flexibility of the art. It's totally captivating. Beautiful.
I´m at few words to talk about this book, because I simply loved everything about it. It's a book that deserves much more than five stars.
It's super fun with all those aunts. And the love that the aunt who brings her has for her is so palpable. It's so touching. They are great. And the main character is strong and capable and is starting to blossom.
And I am completely captivated by those superb and magnificent illustrations. The colors bring so much dynamics to the page.
I'll say again that I loved it and I'm looking forward to the second volume.

A fun new series with fantastic illustrations, I loved reading about this new world and it's inhabitants and greatly look forward to the next installment!

In this graphic novel we follow Temperance who was brought back to a village of witches by a grouchy old witch. She is a half ogre and the witches take her in and raise her as one of their own. Then one day the mist from the woods comes back with a vengeance and a group of witches and Temperance go on a quest to see if they can defeat the mist once and for all. Will they succeed? Or will Temperance give into the mist and become a part of it?
This was a great graphic novel and one that I will be reading the next volume of for sure. The artwork was gorgeous and I can't wait to see where the story goes. Especially with that cliffhanger at the end!

Review to come November 11th on my blog.
I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
This one looked like the perfect Halloween read... and while I did have a good time, I just cannot rate it that highly. I mean the art is absolutely stunning, I just love the tones, how sometimes the story is just told by the art, the character designs. I definitely want to see what else the artist has made. Oh, I loved the sketches/ideas at the end! Really interesting to see all the ideas for the characters. I love the idea that a coven accepts a tiny baby ogre and accepts her in their family and takes care of her. I liked the idea of them searching to find a way to defeat the mist. I loved the witches, they were so sweet and kind and I loved how they cared for Temperance. I loved that party when Temperance was of age. The mist is a mysterious and spooky things and gave me chills. The cover is stunning! Temperance was at times a very great character and I loved how strong she was and how protective she was of her family.
Not so good though, there are so many ideas thrown into this one, including that an apocalypse has happened that it just became chaotic. The apocalypse would have worked if there had been earlier things showing that, now it was like WAIT? This is not a fantasy world? This is modern world destroyed? Whut? And then there is a lot of blablabla on how magic works, about essence, and more and I was just tuning out. There is also a girl who wanted to get the help of one of the witches and now she is coming along? Because she apparently likes Temperance? And oh yes, suddenly one of the hunters was that person to one of the witches? And Temperance really lives up to her name and I found her quite annoying at times, I mean girl, just plan for once. I get it you are strong you can see in the mist, but there is a ton of bad things there and you don't want to just jump straight into it. There are suddenly guns and such? Um? And how did the mist even come to be? And who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?
So yeah, I wanted to like this one, so much, but it just didn't work for me. Too many ideas, too much crammed in, too messy. But gorgeous art!

A witch rescues a baby half-ogre and brings her back to raise in her community of witches (who’s first suggestions are to kill the baby). However, the baby grows into a young woman named Temperence, and the other witches become her aunts. When the mysterious mist from the forest starts encroaching on their town, Temperence sets off into the woods with the witch she calls grandma, one of her witch aunts, and a young traveler named Helen.
I absolutely loved the art: landscapes of beautiful blues and purples that transport you to another realm, and character art that brings their personalities to life. This graphic novel encompasses both fun moments (witches dancing naked in the woods) and action-packed ones (fighting off enemies). It’s also sapphic! This is the first in a series, and I look forward to reading the next one.

A big thanks to Netgalley and Europe Comics for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
JUST LOOK AT THAT COVER. STUNNING!
The Mist-Walker by Stéphane Fert is a graphic novel about a peculiar town. One day, everything was lost in the mist. No, not those little morning wisps or the thin type that follows rain. The really dense stuff. A pea-souper, a dark fog, thick and black like atomized ink. A mist that engulfs everything. But the mist also left something behind: a mutant, an ogress—or perhaps just a little girl that a grouchy old witch would decide to call Temperance and who would be brought up in a quiet village by a group of contented old women. Then one day, the mist returns. It wants her back. Now it’s time for the witches to dust off their charms and try to remember their old incantations and kung fu techniques as they set out on a great adventure that will determine young Temperance’s destiny.
This art style is everything! And I am in love! And don't get me started on the plot, because I was blown away. I needed more like yesterday.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. So thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity!
This graphic novel was everything!
It was drawn so so well. It is so captivating and i loved how the story was told.
It was a stunning reading experience.
5/5

This graphic novel was so beautifully drawn, I couldn’t stop reading. The images were wonderful and captured the emotion of the characters so well.
I loved how all the witches were different in personality as well as their power. The description of how their powers work was amazing. I loved how the page was taken up with smaller images and the details of the individual gifts.
I think the story was paced perfectly but the introduction of Helen was a little sudden. She appeared in the story with very little explanation. However, it did not take away from relationship developing between her and Temperance. I think the relationship between them and the moment they shared heightened the ending.
Overall, I thought the story was well done, with a mixture of humour, drama, and peril. The repeating mention of squash was very funny.

A new favorite!
Gorgeous, lush and very detailed illustrations, accompanying a strong, beautiful witchy story, with many heartwarming and funny moments.
A perfect read for this fall and spooky month!
Grisette is a grumpy but strong witch, with a big heart for her people, nature and the half? ogre baby she saves at the start of this enchanting story.
That baby, called Temperance, grows up in the care of Grisette and surrounded by a witch community, to be a kind, strong willed girl with amazing kung fu skills!
But there’s something in the forest, something dark and uncontrollable that’s threatening them.
Every witch has a gift and Temperance’s gift seems to have a connection with that dark danger, called the mist.
When one of the witches gets killed by the mist and it threatens their existence, some of them decide to undertake a long dangerous journey to get to the root of what’s causing it and hopefully find a way to destroy it.
They face so many dangers, one of them is being hunted by the lost ones. I did find their language and violence a bit too extreme. They’re a group of people, we were told little about but I think we will learn more about them in the next comic(s). But their language/violence being a bit over the top, is the only negative remark I could think of while I had the joy to discover an arc of this comic, thanks to NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.
The story was interrupted here and there, by incredibly interesting parts of tales, accompanied by the most beautiful illustrations of the whole comic, in my opinion. Although every illustration included in this comic was absolutely beautiful.
There were also some old and new love stories that I really loved. And if you are a lover of squash, you are in for a treat ;).
I enjoyed reading this comic so much and often didn’t know where to look first cause there was so much to see on every page.

This is such a perfect story for autumn—witches, a dark and magical mist, squashes…! Just the perfect atmosphere!
The illustrations are simply gorgeous, from the character designs to the colour choices. There is a wide variety of characters, and old women, which I thought is awesome as they tend not be represented that much.
The characters are truly lovely, every witch has her own gift, which makes them unique in their very own way, and our main character, Temperance, is an ogress, which obviously brings the question of how to fit on when you're different—I definitely enjoyed that a lot.
I also love that is said about magic and witchcraft, about how you should use it wisely and not depend on it for everything. Some very beautiful messages in there!
This graphic novel is amazing, and I couldn't recommend it enough!

This graphic novel was the perfect choice for late Autumn. It featured a great mix of seasonal elements, including witches, pumpkins, and spooky mist-filled scenes. It can only be described as atmospheric.
As I read, I consistently found myself pausing to closely examine the artwork. The sweeping landscapes throughout the story were truly beautiful, and as a fellow artist, I was so impressed by the mesmerizing color palettes, character designs, and the overall artistic talent on display in this novel.
The story was also compelling. I found myself excited to learn more about the lore of this world., and was pleasantly surprised by the post-apocalyptic theme that unfolded as Temperance and the witches began their journey.
All in all, this is a fantastic introduction to a series, and I'm eagerly looking forward to reading the next installment!

An orphan ogre is taken in by a coven of witches and finds out that her differences may be the only thing that can save them all..
This was a beautiful, incredibly illustrated comic, and one I will not soon forget! I can’t wait for the next installment!
I loved each of the witches, the backstories that popped up throughout the story; the artwork is amazing, and I adored the support and sense of family that filled this as well.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me to read this, and the author and illustrator for creating this amazing story!

#NetGalleyARC The images in this graphic novel were amazing and so well done. This was a perfect chilly fall afternoon read. A quick read but it was very enjoyable.

The first that caught my eyes was the artwork of course and it was amazing very soft at sometimes but very hard colours in others, Even the background was well done. This type of drawing it's one of my favourite.
The story is really intriguing not much complex but not simple either and I really liked the mist as an element It wasthis thing really misterious and dangerous but relating to th main character. We don't see a lot of the character, Temperance, but even that I really liked her. We see her wanting to be worthy of being a Witch and as the story goes knowing to accept who she is and still wanting to be part of a witch, where at the end was all her life. Her personality is not joke, she cares about her family and has a lot of strenght.
The sides caracthers are no less or even better, I liked more that the main one like the witches each one of them are so different and they have their funny moment really liked the dynamics between them and with Temperance mostly With the "gradma". I really loved the queer element didn't expect that I was pleasent about it. It was great to see it, and I can't wait to read the next one because we are left with a kind of cliffangher and I want to know more about Temperance and the witches.

Just finished reading The Mist-Walker, an amazing graphic novel! The artwork is stunning and the story is perfect for this autumn season. Highly recommend it for all you witchy folks out there.

I had already read a couple of books by this artist, so I absolutely had to read it because I liked them both! His style is truly unmistakable, as is his color palette.
His stories always have fall/winter vibes, and also in this new comic we can find these autumnal and cold, slightly dark settings that characterize all of his works.
I also liked the story (even though this is probably only the first volume), although I found the prologue a little confusing. Luckily we are told something more as the story progresses.
All the characters are well characterized and I appreciated them a lot, and the story seems interesting so far.
I am very curious to find out how the story will move forward and I hope we are told more about Grisette's past which I found very intriguing (especially when she was young).
Thanks Netgalley for letting me read it!

3.5 ⭐
I enjoyed the story! it was sweet but a lot of questions where never answered. It did feel a little rushed but it is just the first volume so hopefully it will be expanded on in the future volumes.
The art style is nice but not my personal style, some scenes felt a bit hard to decipher since the colors were so similar.
overall it's was a pretty good read!
thank you Netgalley, Stephane Fert as well as the publishers at Europe Comics for an a copy in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you NetGalley for the review copy!
I really enjoyed this creepy and witchy graphic novel. It's very atmospheric and fits perfectly for a read on a rainy day! :) The art style is stunning! Excited to see where the story goes in within the next book.
