In Three Words: Dinosaurs, rhyme, learning

Another great book for the classroom is the latest in the Meet the... series. Following Meet the Planets, Meet the Oceans and Meet the Weather, Meet the Dinosaurs is perfect for any dinosaur enthusiast but also a brilliant introduction to these prehistoric beasts.

Have you ever wondered where those old bones in the museum actually came from? Well, now is the time to find out! Why not get in the truck and travel back in time on a dino-safari to meet who those bones belonged to?

Perfectly pitched for young children, this well set-up picture book begins in a museum and explains the age of the dinosaurs in a fun but easily understandable way. The bold and vibrant illustrations by Bethan Woollvin have been joyful in all of these books but are particularly suited to dinosaurs, allowing them to leap out from the page. From Bront-to-saur-us to Dip-lod-o-cus to the infamous Ty-ranno-saur-us, the rhyming text is packed full of factual information about the dinosaurs' diet, habitat and features and even helps new readers with pronunciation by breaking down the long names. The language is both child-friendly yet challenging with some brilliant sound words and dynamic verbs. This is a lesson that both children and adults will not want to miss, made even clearer by the fabulous timeline at the end.

A fun rhyming book about dinosaurs, teamed with bold, bright pictures to make storytime lots of fun, with plenty of well researched, interesting facts. This is a great addition to the “Meet the” series.

My son has read Meet the Planets and Meet the Oceans before. He's a bit big for this one but I thought I'd read it with my daughter in mind for in a few years.

It's another well researched, informative picture books. The illustrations are bright and colourful (we also love Bethan Woolvin's other books - the art is in a very similar style).

I'll be adding this to my wishlist for future years when my daughter is old enough for it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having very much enjoyed the two previous instalments in this series, my 7-year-old daughter was VERY excited to read "Meet the Dinosaurs". We were both thrilled to see that this adventure was every bit as fun and engaging as meeting the planets and the oceans was! With the classic bold graphics, bright colours, and easy flowing rhymes, this book was as enjoyable as is was informative. Who knew Triceratops had 800 teeth?!

It was a huge hit, and we will definitely be visiting this book again and again.

My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the arc to review.

A fantastic introduction to dinosaurs for very young children, full of colourful pictures and fun rhymes. What really stood out to me was the amount of information given about each dinosaur, their habits, how they looked, the age they lived in, it's genuinely informative but manages to never feel dull. It even sounds out the names of the dinosaurs phonetically to help the adult reading, which I found very useful! It's sure to spark the imagination of many youngsters to find out more about dinosaurs but will also keep them entertained with both words and pictures in the short term. A lovely book.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy in return for an honest review.
