I absolutely loved this book, it was such a compelling read. The twists and turns made this such a pacy thriller and I had no idea who we were supposed to believe. This book is full of flawed characters, lies and betrayal and if you like a twisty thriller then this is perfect, I wold never have seen that ending coming.

Review for 'My Beat Friends Secret' by Danielle Ramsay.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Georgina Troy, Book And Tonic, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.
Publication date 10th November 2023.
This is the first book I have read by this author but it most definitely won't be my last!!
This novel consists of 43 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all feeling the hair raise on your arms and feeling the sweat run down your back.
WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE Danielle!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more...
Firstly let's start off with the writing style, etc!! This book is an extremely well written book by this amazing author which had me hook line and sinker!!! It is so smoothly and fantastically written with vivid and evocative descriptions I completely forgot I was even reading a book a few times. The blurb, title and cover really fit the storyline. This book has an absolutely explosive and addictive storyline that had me hooked from the gripping first chapter to the absolutely shocking ending!!!
As you can tell I LOVED the storyline. I found it to be realistic, very fast paced and I read it in just several hours!!! I loved the setting, characters, atmosphere and just well... Everything!!! Twists after shocks after turns!!! Arggghhh... Its so hard to NOT say anything about them as it will give too much away and spoil it for future readers but it definitely left me speechless over and over!!! I have read hundreds of psychological books and it gets harder and harder to keep my interest and to shock me but these fantastic authors managed it hook, line and sinker Just brilliant fair play and all links in and wraps up perfectly!!! During the book Danielle builds the tension and suspense perfectly and lead the readers up to some extremely explosive twists that I would never have seen coming. I cannot remember the last time I flew through a book so quickly. Each and every time I went to put it down to do something my fingers were itching to pick it back up as I just HAD to know what happened next!! Danielle's evocative writing skills ensure you are sucked deep into the storyline seeing everything that is happening and feeling the tension, distrust , stress and suspense that each of the main characters are going through. My heart was in my throat throughout reading this fast paced, gripping and gritty psychological thriller! I just cannot wait to get stuck into more books by this absolutely epic author and I have added all her previous books to my wish list already and look forward to what she come out with next!! It is ram packed with friendships, lies, twists, drama ,heartbreak, twists, tension, stress, suspense and everything you could ask for in a psychological thriller. I can't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers so if you want to know you'll have to grab yourself a copy!! You won't regret it!!
Just like with the storyline the characters come to life with Danielle's fantastic and evocative writing skills. They are well rounded, well filled out, realistic and strong making them all the more believable. They were also all very complex and the further I got into the book and the more I got to know them it felt like I was discovering more layers the more I read. I had no idea which of the "friends" were telling the truth and struggled to trust any of them which included the main protagonist Claudia. My heart did go out to her for what she was going through but whether she was innocent or not, well you'll just have to pick up a copy yourself to find out!! Danielle gives each and every one of the characters unique and individual personalities they all came to life. Regardless whether I loved or hated them I was invested in them all and they all created this fantastic and nail biting page turner. Danielle really has done an amazing job constructing an addictive and explosive psychological thriller with fantastic, complex and varied characters that you just won't be able to put down!!
Congratulations Danielle on an an absolutely explosive success!!! This is the exact reason that I would like to welcome you to my favourite author club!! Here's to many more successes 🥂!!!
Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue of Danielle's 'The Perfect Husband' which promises to be just as addictive and explosive as this one.
Overall an absolutely page turning, addictive, gripping and explosive must read that will keep you addicted from the very start to the fantastic ending!!!

Five Friends.
One deadly secret....
Claudia has just lost her Best Friend to suicide but at her funeral the atmosphere is frosty & Claudia feels her friends know something she doesn't. Then her marriage falls apart & she finds herself feeling more alone & alienated. Her friends are pulling away from her & she's not sure why.
I enjoyed this & suspected pretty much everyone at some point. I felt it was a bit slow & long winded in places but it was a tense & spine tingling read!
3.5🌟

This story revolves around 5 woman who met at boarding school 20 years ago, focusing on Claudia. Claudia was extremely close with Jaz, who recently committed suicide. Claudia has no idea why Jaz committed suicide. She tries to talk to the other girls about it, but they keep shutting her out. Do they know more about the circumstances that led to Jaz's death? Claudia is determined to find out.
To further complicate things, Claudia's home life seems to be falling apart. She suspects that her husband, Jacob, is having an affair. Given that Claudia is already in such a vulnerable state from Jaz's death, this leads her to making some impulsive decisions.
Soooo much drama and juicy twists and turns! I really enjoyed the mystery surrounding Jaz's death. The book starts off a little bit slow, but it definitely builds up and the pace increases.
I docked a star as a figured out "whodunnit". Nonetheless, it is still an enjoyable read!
Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Claudia Harper and her four friends have been joined at the hip and besties for over twenty years after meeting at boarding school, when one of the girl Jasmine, commits suicide it sends the friendship group into turmoil - and Claudia begins to feel on the outside of the group and she has no idea what she has done to warrant how Ava starts to treat her.
After a series of events sees her married in trouble Claudia takes in roommate -Riley - now I knew this woman was up to something and behind some if not most of the goings on, but for the life of me I couldn't work out why! Amongst this her other friends one is left in a coma after a hit and run and the other poor Claudia finds dead, is someone targeting her and friends? If so why and was Jasmin's death really a suicide?
When all was revealed I was just as shocked as Claudia was - but it was a fantastic twist that I never saw coming.
I absolutely loved this one! It was such a page turner and I couldn’t put it down. Some elements of it I had guessed but others where a complete surprise and at one point I was nearly reading through my fingers.
This really does have all you want from a mystery/thriller and I also got a little emotional at times it really pulled me in.
Blog tour post
This was a tricky one for me, I was very keen to get through the book which tells me I enjoyed it and it kept my attention yet at times I was like, seriously!! This is so unrealistic, it's ridiculous!! Something piqued my interest as even though I had worked out ultimately the "who" early on, I didn't know the "why" so I kept the pages turning intrigued to see how all the separate little storylines would all eventually tie up.
Despite being an exciting, yet somewhat over the top storyline, I did struggle on occasion with the overly descriptive style of writing but this only appeared rarely, but when it did, it was far too ott though.
#MyBestFriendsSecrets was definitely a book of good and bad so I'll give a 3.5 rating up to 4stars, thank you for the copy #NetGalley
This was another excellent read by Danielle Ramsay. Five women who have been friends since first meeting at boarding school over 20 years ago. Each of them coming from privileged backgrounds but today they are saying their final goodbye to one of the friends. This was just the start and from here on in I was completely invested in this story. It’s tense and it’s gripping and like me you really will not know who to trust. When strange and sinister things start happening it appears someone is out to cause harm to these women. Can all the remaining four ladies be trusted or is one of them out for revenge ? There is so much happening in this book that there were points that I didn’t have time to even draw breath I was so absorbed in the story. It’s a fast paced and utterly thrilling read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to Rachel's Random Resource and BoldWood Book for my copy Here is my honest review from the heart
Five women: pretty, privileged, perfect and ultimately protected…. but not for long….
For 22 years, they kept their dark secret buried, but now their actions have been brought to light.
Shamed, scarred, and shunned, I watched, waited and plotted how to shatter "their" cruel hands that fateful night. Time's up. I'm here for you., Dr Claudia Harper. But first, you'll witness your childhood friends, one by one, beg for mercy.
Claudia is a shambles. Her best buddy has recently committed suicide, and her other four lifetime pals appear to be withholding information from her. Her husband seems to be concealing something from her as well. He claims he did not cheat on her while she was away, but he was covered in bite marks and scratches.
What follows is a chain of events that would be amusing if they weren't so…stupid. Claudia simply appears faint. Allows everything to happen to her.
The secrets and reveals are pretty obvious, and the background might have been explored much more thoroughly, but alas, these novels are published far too quickly.
The suspense begins on the first page and gradually rises throughout. The early half of the plot moves at a leisurely pace. The best friend of Dr. Claudia Harper committed suicide. She goes out with friends, and things quickly deteriorate. Claudia's point of view is used to tell the story. I guessed who was behind what was happening early on, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this riveting read. Everything happening piqued my interest and made me want to read more. With murder, attempted murder, and strange events occurring, I kept flipping the pages to find out more.

Claudia, a professor of literature, attends the funeral of Jasmine (Jaz) with gallery manager Willow, artist Issie and lawyer Ava, five women who have been firm friends since they shared seven years at school together. Jaz committed suicide but no one really knows why, as it was so out of character, and her old friends now seem to be shunning her. As if that isn’t bad enough, Claudia also suspects her husband Jacob of being unfaithful, an act he vehemently denies and which leads her to do something stupid, resulting with her forced to take a stranger into her home.
Almost right from the start I really didn’t like Claudia, entitled, self-pitying and blaming other people for her own stupid actions which included sending nasty spiteful messages to a woman who was supposed to be her lifelong friend and then cheating on her husband out of revenge before she had any proof he was in the wrong. No surprise then that I cared very little what happened to her but as the story progressed, she really didn’t deserve the nightmare she and her four friends were caught up in. It’s a very tense and chilling read full of secrets and lies, and I was hooked as I started to have my suspicions about everyone in the story and what their true motives were. Certainly a thriller to keep the reader gripped from start to finish.
I am a huge fan of Danielle and her work. I first discovered her books when I had the good fortune to pick up a copy of the first book in the Detective Inspector Jack Brady series, which is called 'Broken Silence'. Since then I have read and loved everything that she has written. As soon as I finish reading one of Danielle's books, I immediately look forward to her next book. Danielle's most recent release is called 'My Best Friend's Secret' and it was released on 10th November 2023. It's another fantastic story from the very talented Danielle Ramsay. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'My Best Friend's Secret' but more about that in a bit.
The fact that Danielle's name was on the cover of a book that I knew I hadn't yet read was enough to grab my attention and draw me in. As soon as I started reading the story itself, I was intrigued and became curious to know who was hiding what and why. I can't say that I especially warmed to any of the characters but that could be because I have read a lot of crime fiction and psychological thrillers and I believe nobody and suspect everybody. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. Besides I had to keep reading to see if the story was going to pan out in the way in which I thought it would. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. I was so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of 'My Best Friend's Secret'. I found 'My Best Friend's Secret' to be a gripping, tense and at times rather dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
'My Best Friend's Secret' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Danielle Ramsay. Danielle certainly knows how to grab the reader's attention and draw them into what proves to be one heck of a story and then some. For me, this was a slow burn sort of read, which suited the story that Danielle tells. I always find that Danielle's characters are so realistically and vividly described that they seem just as real as you and I. In some cases they seemed too real as daft as that sounds. Reading 'My Best Friend's Secret' felt like being on an at times scary and rather unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which Danielle makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That's how I felt anyway.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'My Best Friend's Secret' and I would recommend it to other readers. I hope to read much more of Danielle's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
My Best Friend’s Secret was a mystery thriller about just that, a friend’s secret. Claudia is one of five very good friends beginning in boarding school beginning at age eleven. They are all in their mid-thirties now and are all doing well in the world. The book is a fairly slow read at first and then a bit unbelievable toward the end. I liked it enough to read another of Danielle Ramsay’s books, but I definitely had to suspend belief at times.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC. This is my honest review.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #BoldwoodBooks for the ARC #MyBestFriendsSecret by #DanielleRamsay. A book about a buried secret and revenge destroying lives. It held my attention and shocked me with the ending.
First, I want to thank Danielle Ramsay, Boldwood Books, NetGalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with your book so I may bring you this review.
OH SNAP!!! My Best Friend’s Secret by Danielle Ramsay reads like a fast paced addicting prime time soap opera filled with intense drama that is just so juicy! Highly suggest this book!
Danielle incorporates some pretty important issues and topics into her storyline that will pull your emotions all over the place!
I loved the mystery surrounding what really happened to Jaz! There were so many secrets and questions that needed to be answered. I could not put down the book until all was revealed.
One character in the book that I could not stand and found myself yelling at my Kindle was Jacob!! Oh his actions hit extremely close to home for me! Another reason to be thankful I am single!
WOW!! Never in a million years did I see this sick and twisted climatic ending happen. I was utterly speechless, jaw on the floor, and my mind was totally blown!
The beginning of the book seems slow-paced - the main character, Claudia, attends a funeral after one of her best friends commits suicide.
The story switches to a conflict between Claudia and her husband. She thinks he cheated on her, but he denies it. There are a lot of proofs though.
And then the story just goes wild. Something happens in every chapter! Characters gonna lie, blame, keep secrets. It’s impossible to guess what’s going on, or even guess if is there something going on at all.
Who did what, why, who to blame… impossible to know! Just feels like something is off and you can feel danger. But what is it? Is there any or maybe the main character is crazy?
I was so intrigued! Read the book in one sitting.
My husband asked about the plot, I told him some details (was maybe 30% in) and he begged me to keep him updated!
So was bombing him with messages during reading and got dozens of “What the hell, can you please read faster?”🤣 In the end we agreed that this amount of twists can make a series, not only one book. The shit that happens in poor Claudia’s life is unstoppable!
So Danielle Ramsay is my new hero. Don’t know how she did it but she made all things work! And after the story is kinda told, there comes the last twist! Can’t spoiler but believe me you will never see it coming.
Amazing, unputdownable thriller I HIGHLY recommend.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I’d like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘My Best Friend’s Secret’ written by Danielle Ramsay in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Five women in their thirties, Claudia, Willow, Issie, Ava and Jaz, have been best friends since first meeting at school aged eleven. When Jaz takes her own life they’re all shocked especially Claudia who was the closest to her, but when she speaks to the others at the funeral she gets the feeling they’re keeping something secret from her. Claudia isn’t having an easy time with her husband Jacob either who’s packed a bag and moved out of their house.
‘My Best Friend’s Secret’ is a story of betrayal and lies as someone close to them is planning revenge. The plot is interesting with a secret that’s kept hidden and although it was slow at times it ends with a complex and unexpected conclusion.
Thank you to #NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Danielle Ramsay for the opportunity to read an advance copy of My Best Friend’s Secret, to be published 10 November 2023. 4/5 stars for this thrilling domestic novel. It gives a whole new meaning to BFF! Four friends - since adolescence until their thirties - remain close but not everyone knows there is a major secret to be divulged which causes great consternation among friends and family. I enjoyed the intrigue of the various characters and the way they moved forward in the storyline. But it is a nail biter! Great read. #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks #DanielleRamsay #MyBestFriend’sSecret
This book has a relatively vague synopsis - for a reason! We know from the title that someone’s best friend has a secret. We know from the synopsis that it involves a group of friends and something that happened 22 years prior. What you don’t know is how crazy this book is going to get…
Claudia’s best friend since childhood, Jaz, has committed suicide. They were both in a tight knit group of friends who have been together since pre-teens at boarding school. Now adults, they’ve all gone their separate ways, but have (mostly) remained in touch. It takes Jaz’s death for the remaining four to reconnect as a group, face to face.
I really can’t say much except that this is a twisted murder mystery, a moment from the past coming into the present, and one woman trying to hold it all together. Claudia has lost her best friend, her other friends are icing her out, and she’s having marital problems. Nothing seems right. When will this all make sense?
I’m giving this book 4.5 stars, rounded up, because there’s no reason not to. This doesn’t have the feel of most books that I give five stars to, but it fits in my five-star category. It was a page-turner that was suspenseful and clever to the unique ending, and I can’t think of anything I would change. There may have been a cliche here and there, but overall this was one fantastic mystery/thriller that I highly recommend!
(Thank you to Boldwood Books, Danielle Ramsay and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on November 10, 2023.)
Claudia is suffering the loss of her best friend and a perceived infidelity she thinks that was committed by her husband Jacob at 11 Claudia was sent to a boarding school where she made lifelong friends with just Willow icy in Ada her best friend just recently committed suicide something Claudia cannot get over it something she also uses as an excuse for every interaction she makes. She also is racked with guilt because of her last attempt to speak to Jess no I don’t know if the book was about Jacobs infidelity or her best friend and this so-called secret that even after reading the book I have no clue what secret that was. Not to say that wasn’t a good book because OMG the twist interns in this book are phenomenal and even though it’s slow to get to the whole best friend thing the story that leads up to the main plot is also so good and has something to do with the twist because I was like OMG OK… OK I had to regroup get my thoughts together but not gonna lie at the end I was like really? And me questioning the end has nothing to do with the twist interns it’s more the epilogue than the main story because… Really? I’m not gonna say because I hate when people ruin a book and tell most of the story in the review so I would just say this is a great book and what I highly recommend. I want to thank Boldwood books and net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes because I am blind.
