This was a fun read about Pirate descendants written for middle school to YA.
I loved the plot of this book. Bonnie, a disgruntled and lonely foster child is plucked from a detention center after an “incident” and whisked off to “Pirate School” off the coast of NC. There she learns of her true identity as a direct descendant of a fearsome Corsair!
I found this book to have a bit of a slow start but it really picked up as it came to a conclusion.
A swashbuckling coming-of-age adventure with a little pirate history and fantasy mixed in to create a wonderful start to a fresh and unique series, this novel is so much fun! Elements of many social issues are incorporated throughout, such as bullying, grief, finding yourself and your tribe. Plus, who doesn't love a pirate summer camp. Looking forward to the next one!!

A rip roaring action packed story for middle school/primary school and up. Lots of fun, with humour. This reminded me of so the type of book that I enjoyed reading as a child. Thank you to Black Rose Writing and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
