Found, written by Irene Cooper, is a unique mystery that I greatly enjoyed! This book features Eleanor, who has had a painful past. She lost her daughter when she was young, and because of this she is separated from her husband and son. And although she was not able to save her own daughter, she often works with the police to try to help them find missing children. The irony in that is something that really struck me! I also appreciated the friendships developed between Eleanor and the different people that she works with, and also seeing how the relationships with her family members change and expand throughout the book. I definitely recommend this one! Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher and author of this book for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I found the storyline interesting but did not enjoy the writing as much. I also found how some of the friendships in the story formed quite unrealistic, especially under the given circumstances.
It was still an overall enjoyable read for me.
Looked at this book a few times before I decided to pick it up. I’m glad I did. Tough story line about child abduction in a thriller with themes of grief, media abuse, child loss, intuition and forgiving one’s self. I found the text in the first couple of chapters was strange, difficult to follow; don’t really know why. But after that I was totally hooked, and didn’t have that problem with the rest of the book which I really enjoyed. Thank you to Atmosphere press and NetGalley for the ARC. Some people view Eleanor Clay's ability to locate the bodies of missing children as a gift, while others consider it as a curse. She quickly grows weary of discovering baby corpses while working as a civilian consultant at Bristlecone Springs PD since she is always experiencing her darkest nightmare of being too late to save the people who mean the most to her: her own children. A fresh miracle appears out of nowhere, and she starts to locate kids who are still alive but in peril. Superstitions start to spread since the town is not safe. More kids are going missing. There is no clear pattern, yet Eleanor is always there to find a traumatized youngster on the verge of passing away for every absence. What reality resides beneath the surface?
It was challenging to put the book down because I was constantly curious about what was going to be revealed. The story's intriguing mystery is revealed systematically. From the very beginning, the plot is interesting. A few minor details that are dotted throughout the story enable the reader to make some connections and draw the same conclusions as the characters about the true nature and scope of the crime.
The use of many points of view enables readers to comprehend various viewpoints. This aids in the readers' ability to identify with other characters outside the main one throughout the story. We get to know interesting people who have distinctive qualities that are crucial to the study. Each character has been thoughtfully developed such that we find them all to be as seductive as the mystery in the novel.
Through extraordinarily horrific events and sinister occurrences, Cooper is able to weave a tale that eventually unites people, creating a sense of security and solidarity. Overall, the novel moves along at a wonderful speed, with chapter conclusions that whet your appetite for the following chapter.
Irene Cooper's crime thriller Found is a compelling book that never forgets to keep the reader entertained. The novel is written in such a way that many things will stick with readers long after they put the book down, eventually dealing with deeper and more somber subjects than anticipated. The suspenseful murder mystery Found will keep readers on the edge of their seats right up to the very last page.
