I really wanted to like this comic book, because its heart is so clearly in the right place. A multi-ethnic group of kids utilise their diverse skills to raise awareness about environmental crisis, including the danger many animals are facing of extinction and abuse.
There is a comic book segment at the beginning of the volume, where the gang goes to Kenya, and ends up saving elephants from poachers. The language seems a little dated - perhaps trying too hard to be cool - and there are quite a lot of corny jokes, which may or may not appeal to the target group of readers.
The best part of it, in my opinion, consists of the activities, games and puzzles at the back of the book. These would probably succeed in catching the interest of young readers, and effectively raising their awareness about the issues in an enjoyable, and less obvious manner.
