I was immediately drawn to the front cover with this beautiful giraffe!
A really lovely non-fiction that gets you hooked immediately with its brilliant content and illustrations and exploring the smallest and biggest in the natural world.
It was great that you can see the animals and insects in their real size, the illustrator also zoomed in to get real detail.
Easy read to keep children entertained throughout. Great conversations to be had about the content as well.
I really need to get a physical copy as this as I know my kids will want to read it again and again.
I'm sure this is not the first book to try this – presenting nature all to life-size scale – but this is a very good way of doing it. The text at times is in short slices, but not trivial like the usual factoid. The book covers a lot of nature, too, from krill to prehistoric critters to sand and seeds – it's not just the superlative creatures we see in a scale that proves their monstrous dimensions, or lack thereof. I do rail at books that don't really discuss why things evolve to be the size, shape and specifics they are, but this, pitched young, can almost be forgiven. It looks wonderful, and seems brave to devote a whole spread to just a fraction of a flower, a pair of gorilla hands or the facial profile of a capybara, with no overlaid text. It might just inspire someone to get their scopes out and track down hummingbird nests smaller than the smallest known, so possibly deserves some fraction more than the four stars I'm giving it.
What an incredible book! I was hooked straight in by the gorgeous, highly-detailed illustrations which bring the content to life. I loved being able to see images at their real size and zoomed in for a really detailed view. My favourite pages were the ones about the owls.
This will be a fantastic addition to our bookshelf.
This is another beautiful book - the realistic illustrations are amazing!
This book is perfect for those children who love to learn and enjoy a bit of non-fiction. It explores some of the biggest and very smallest things in the natural world in an easy to read and interesting way.
I really love the illustrations in this one and I am sure it will be a big hit - highly recommend for those little inquisitive ones out there!
Giraffe's being my favourite animal, I was drawn to this book by it's cover. It's simply beautiful. Full of colour and such beautiful illustrations, I like the zoomed in details and the information and facts are brilliant. I think this book will be even more beautiful in real life. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book.
