Wow! This was so much fun. I highly recommend this book. It was even better then “How to kill men”. I felt more connected to the main character.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for my honest opinion

This was a difficult one - marketing itself as a comedy and using comparisons to My Sister, the Serial Killer, this was already setting itself up for some harsh comparisons. While I would argue that the title doesn't quite hold enough funny moments to call itself a comedy and there is an edge it lacks when up against My Sister, the Serial Killer, this book still manages to be an enjoyable read.

The book is quintessentially British in a way that makes it so believable despite many of the far fetched moments and the dry humour, when used, is done well.

Pacing slightly skewed but this works well to mimic Millies chaotic nature and the twists (particularly Katies attacker and Gina's project) are engagingly shocking.

Overall, a fun and chaotic read which keeps the reader on tenterhooks in the very best way.

Millie Masters runs a public service (for a small fee obvs) helping women get rid of pests and other vermin. I cackled in public reading this book. Well played.

This book was really difficult to get into but definitely picked up about halfway through and redeemed itself. Reminds me of another book about revenge on men. Our main characters sister is assaulted by a man and the main storyline is the sister finding out who this man is. By slowly killing people she believes are guilty. The kicker? Her boyfriend is a detective. Probably not the best for her “cause.” I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is about a woman who is taking the law into her own hands. After the rape of her sister she vows that women should not need to suffer from men. She makes it her mission to help others until she begins taking it too far.

4 dark revenge stars

This one is perfect for fans of dark revenge thrillers. Millie is one of the more interesting characters I’ve encountered recently through new author Eve Kellman.

Women are sometimes in dire situations; a man is not taking no for an answer, and she needs to escape. Enter M – you can text this hotline -- and M will rescue you. After way too many rescues, though, Millie (or M for short) is ready to go to the next level, and this is where the darkness comes in. She decides that she needs to take out some of these men that cause her repeat business.

And this is personal, her sister has had a terrible experience and Millie decides to find the culprit herself.

Along the way, Millie starts to date someone, and I was hopeful she would realize that not all men are bad. But . . . it turns out this man might be more than she bargained for after all.

I found this one to be, yes, dark but also funny in some ways. I found myself rooting for Millie while realizing that what she was doing was so wrong. I think all of us have the urge to seek revenge at some point. Although most of us just imagine it!

Millie Masters is not a huge fan of men, especially since her sister was raped and fallen into a depression that only seems to be getting worse. Since there isn’t much Millie can do for her sister, she does her best to help other women by advertising her phone number around town for women who are in some way in a precarious situation with a man or men.

Though Millie is cynical and dislikes most people, somehow her thoughts and remarks on human frailty are pretty funny. Then she accidentally murders a man who, it turns out, the world will not miss, though she only had minimal information at the time.

I wasn’t sad about the first guy she killed, but her actions escalate. Two major plot points I guessed way in advance, and I am not super excited about the ending. This is not a sunny read although the dark humor is fun.

NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES MARCH 28, 2024.

Thanks @netgalley and @avonbooks for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. It’s got a very different premise, with a main character who I probably should not like, but couldn’t help but be entertained by. I had no idea where this story was going next, and did not see any of it coming. This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book for me. Check it out when it’s released in March 2024. #avivaandfriendsrecos

I love love loved this one!

I was gripped from the very start and I actually liked the main character Millie despite her actions being frustrating at times.

It’s refreshing to have a female serial killer storyline as they are more often than not centred around men… and the humour and wit throughout this book really made it for me.

There is some heavy stuff so trigger warnings should be checked before reading but overall this is an enjoyable and different read.

AHHH. This is the third book I've finished this year and it is setting the bar HIGH for the rest.

This is everything I love in weird, quirky, thrillery stories. The tone reminded me of Blood Sugar and Never Saw Me Coming. It's clever and quick-paced, and such a twist on serial killer stories--Millie is so beautifully ordinary in many ways. She doesn't *mean* to kill, not really, but she's looking for justice/revenge for her little sister and not letting anyone get in her way. The tone of this book is fantastic--one moment it's tense as all get out, the next a snarky one-liner had me in stitches. It's a beautiful combination of serial killer thriller and thoughtful commentary on real, relatable issues, and there were multiple lines that made me stop and reflect for a moment.

Loved this one. So grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Millie Masters is a normal girl with a normal job by day… by night, she becomes a vigilante, rescuing vulnerable people from predators on nights out. One night, things get out of hand and Millie takes the law into her own hands.
Millie’s sister was assaulted on a night out and justice was not served… until Millie gets involved.

If you’re looking for a book you absolutely cannot put down, this is the book for you. Great for fans of ‘How To Kill Your Family’.
Likeable characters and a great storyline with lots of plot twists, I found myself nervous, excited and on edge when reading this. I’m actually sad to have finished this! Love the cover, love the style of writing, characters and storyline.
Absolutely brilliant book, I look forwards for further books from Eve Kellman.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I flew through it! The feminine rage and the witty banter was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼 Being a woman, I have known many creepy men and I’ve heard enough stories to go around. The way this story plays out is fantastic. THE ENDING THOUGH 😱I can not wait for this to come out and I can purchase a copy for all my friends.

This book is an absolute masterpiece that took me on a wild ride of unexpected darkness, and I loved every bit of it. The dark humor had me chuckling throughout, providing a perfect balance to the nerve-wracking and emotionally intense moments.

What stood out the most were the epic twists that left me utterly shocked. The unpredictability of the plot was mind-blowing, and I'm still reeling from the aftermath. Kellman's storytelling is a masterclass in crafting a murder spree with just the right dash of humor. It's a rollercoaster that had me guffawing one minute and grappling with dark emotions the next.

It seamlessly blends humor, suspense, and unexpected twists in a way that captivates and surprises at every turn. Kudos to Eve Kellman for this gripping and darkly entertaining journey!

“So Many Men, So Little Time…”

After her younger sister is brutally raped, Millie Masters sets up a hotline for women who need help shaking off a man at a bar, or who feel unsafe walking home alone late at night: “Message M”

Even on Mondays, there is always a call for help…

And, Millie is “on call” to rescue you.

But as her sister continues to become a shell of her former self, Millie becomes more and more obsessed with vengeance! She may be called a quitter when it comes to work, hobbies, relationships and diets, but not when it comes to MURDER.

She has decided that she needs to find and punish the man, that the police have failed to locate-her sister’s attacker.

Not since “Jane Doe” (Victoria Helen Stone) have I had as much fun reading about (and rooting for) a diabolical female serial killer.

Though obviously what women endure far too frequently is not at all funny, the story is filled with witty and sarcastic observations and fierce and loyal female friendships. The OVER THE TOP story shouldn’t be taken too seriously and just enjoyed for what it is-a deliciously DARK, and entertaining revenge 🍿 thriller!

Although I am not sure that I completely loved the resolution, I did enjoy the ride.
3.75 rounded up to 4 stars ⭐️

TW: Rape, Sexual Assault, Incest, and one brief mention of a kitty 🐱 hit by a car which helped fuel Millie’s hatred of men.

I thought this was going to be really fun book but I felt like it was a little bit slow. A lot of the action and explanation happens towards the end and felt a little rushed. I feel like some of the timelines were a little off - like Millie waiting to find her sisters attacker months after it happened. I wish the author would have developed Millie more as a serial killer rather than just having her starting to kill. I didn’t see this being very funny but overall I liked this!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written and clever with a twist at the end that will gut you!

Wow!! This book shocked me in ways I did not see coming. It was unexpectedly darker than I was thinking it would be, but I surprisingly enjoyed it! My favorite thing about this book were the epic twists!! I never could have predicted what ended up happening. It was just nuts!! My mind is still reeling… A masterfully woven murder spree with just a dash of humor. It had me guffawing one minute and then reeling with nerves and dark emotions the next.

Perfect for fans of the shows Dexter and How to Get Away With Murder.

Also fans of the book: How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by: Katy Brent. Very similar but a bit darker.

Thank you @NetGalley for the ARC!
