I loved the title of this book and hoped it would as good as it sounded. In fact, it was amazing. A lovely, cosy read for those autumn nights. Thank you for the ARC.
I have been a fan of Georgina's work for a while now. By no means have I read everything that she has written but that is something that I hope to rectify in the not too distant future. I read the synopsis of 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' and it certainly sounded like the sort of story I have come to expect from Georgina - a fun and uplifting story with a generous helping of sunshine and romance. Well it was certainly that and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' but more about that in a bit.
I have to say that I loved the character of Bea Phillips. In fact Bea ended up feeling more like a friend rather than a character in a book. I ended up feeling all protective towards her and on more than one occasion I wanted to jump inside the pages of the book to give certain characters a slap for the way in which they treated Bea. She is lovely young lass, who lost her parents at an early age and she was essentially brought up by her godmother, who has now sadly died. Bea inherits her godmother's house and she faces an uphill battle to renovate and keep the house without Bea's ex-husband getting his filthy hands on it. What happens? Well for the answers to that question and so much more you are going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
I could tell that this was going to be a story that I would become addicted to and that I would thoroughly enjoy. I picked the book up only intending to read a chapter or two but I became so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I was still sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. Part of the reason why I enjoyed the story so much has to do with the main character of Bea and I kept everything crossed that things would work out for her. I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen and I had to keep reading to see if I was anywhere near the truth or if I had wandered off in the opposite direction. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. All too quickly I reached the end of 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' and I had to say goodbye to Bea. I found 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' to be a gripping story with lots of fun, sunshine, laughter and a generous helping of romance.
'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Georgina Troy. Georgina has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of her books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Georgina's love for her characters shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I always find that the sign of a good book is when I find myself becoming far too involved with the story and 'interact' with the characters as if they can hear me. Well that's exactly what happened with 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs'. I love the way in which Georgina makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliffs' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Georgina's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
The Blurb :
People say that it’s hard not to fall in love living on the sunny island of Jersey, but for Bea Philips, still reeling from a divorce and the loss of her beloved godmother, she's not sure she can find the time. While her soon-to-be-ex-husband is trying to take away the home she grew up in, surly but attractive builder Luke is doing it up. Her old flame Tom has just turned up as her new manager at the office, and she has no idea what the mysterious Jersey Kiss is that her godmother has bequeathed to her...
Is life going to give Bea a break, so she can keep her dream home, and maybe fall in love?
My Thoughts :
We meet Bea Philips, struggling after her marriage has ended to Simon, who was cheating on her. Bea has interited her Aunt Annabel’s cottage after her death. Her problem now is that Simon thinks he is intitled to half of it as they were still married when she inherited it. He gives her some time to either sell it or give him half the money. Bea sets about restoring the cottage with the help of handsome local builder Luke.
As more Characters are added to the mix, can they help Bea sort her life out or will she struggle to forfill her Aunt’s wishes and lost half the cottage to Simon!?.
I really loved Bea and Luke, the chemisty was there between them right from the start and I enjoyed the build up of their relationship and seeing them grow.
It was nice learning of their back story so we know why they are the people they are today.
Once again Georgina Troy has delivered a great story and always one with empathy.
Vivid details of the surroundings, the reader can not help but fall in love with the Characters and the island of Jersey.
As always I am looking forward to the next book from Georgina Troy.
This book is an easy one to settle down with along with a cup of tea on a fall day. I love the setting.
This is a story of how life can always offer new opportunities even when things seem dark. Readers will be invested in finding out how life turns out for a woman who faced both divorce and loss. Will she move on? Will there be a new life for her? Readers will trust that this is so but will enjoy following the protagonist’s journey.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this title.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Georgina Troy, Book And Tonic, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.
Publication date 15th November 2023.
This is the second book I have read by this author and it is the first book in her 'Sunflower Cliffs' series!! I have previously read 'Snow Angels At Golden Sands Bay' that is the fifth book in the 'Golden Sands Bay' series.
This novel consists of 28 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book was previously published as A Jersey Kiss.
This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Jersey and really sucks you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the snowdrops and smell of the sea. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.
I absolutely loved this gorgeous book and cannot wait to get stuck in to the future books in this series as well as the rest of Georgina's gorgeous books in her other book series'!!! Honestly if you are ever in need of a break and fancy the gorgeous Jersey then grab this stunner and prepare to be whisked away on a beautiful holiday!!! The storyline is authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heartwarming. There was plenty of events and activities going on throughout and it kept me hooked from start to end, I read it in one sitting while wrapped up warm inside with it rains outside at the same time Bea was soaking up the Jersey sites. However, Georgina's fantastic writing skills felt like I was in Jersey instead of the rainy Wales I am actually sitting in. The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was heartwarming, heartbreaking and had love, relationships, mystery and friendships all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. It felt like a lovely break away from Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I would love to read more about the life in the gorgeous Island of Jersey. I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end of this book as I was truly whisked away to Jersey looking at the stunning views. I absolutely loved the gorgeous atmosphere and everything about this beautiful book. The storyline was so heartwarming and it was such an easy and relaxing read with moments of laughter, some tension, a hint of mystery and sadness but overall happiness. It ended absolutely perfectly and I would love to see more of these amazing characters soon!! Hint, hint Georgina 😉!!!
An absolutely gorgeous book!! I cannot wait to go on my next adventure with the very talented Georgina. I absolutely adored being in Jersey but I also enjoyed learning and reading about Bella and meeting new friends who I absolutely adored!!! An unforgettable holiday!!!
It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too.
The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. I was completely invested in Bea from the moment I met her and was rooting for her throughout the book. I also loved meeting Iz and , Jess, Paul and Shani in particular and found they each had their own unique personalities. I would definitely love to meet them all again in the next book in this promising series!!! It was intriguing to watch friendships and relationships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. Georgina's amazing evocative writing skills brought all the characters and community to life as much as possible and they all leapt out of the pages as well as the stunning atmosphere!!! Anyway, I best not say anymore as don't want to give anything else away for future readers!! It's just so easy talking about this fantastic book and so much I want to tell you all about but i really need to control myself!!! Needless to say I absolutely adored the majority of the characters each for a different reason. There was one in particular that I couldn't abide but I will leave you to see if you can work who that was yourselves. All characters worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to meet them again and cannot wait to get stuck into the previous and next books in this series!!!
Well done Georgina on an absolutely gorgeous book!!! I will definitely be looking for your books any time I need to be swept off to another country!!! This is the exact reason that you are on my favourite authors list and here's to your next success 🥂!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Georgina's 'Summer Sundaes at Golden Sands Bay' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an absolutely perfect light hearted, stunning unputdownable page turner that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Jersey.
333 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £8.99 in paperback via Amazon or free on kindle unlimited which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Previously published as A Jersey Kiss.
My Opinion
I have read a few books by Georgina Troy and each of them have been a delight to read - this is the first book in a new series and is no exception. This was such a relaxing read with some relatable characters and a gentle pace. A beautiful setting leads to a lovely story that drew me in from Bea's first meeting with Luke.
Summer may be over, but this book will whisk you away to the warmer weather. I cannot wait to see what Georgina does next with this series.
Rating 4/5
I read a lot of books that have tough subjects to get through and sometimes I just need an escapist read. A fabulous book to just read in an afternoon, relax and forget about it all. Georgina Troy has books just like this, the afternoon disappeared as I read while sipping tea.
Yes, the characters have problems, just like we all do, and it seems like they won’t be resolved but by the book’s end they are.
I think one of the things I love about reading rom-coms is a guaranteed happy ending. Life is hard so read books that make you happy. I loved the descriptions of the breathtaking island of Jersey.
The book starts out with a bang as we have a hilarious and potential embarrassing scene as we have our main character Bea Phillips, meeting her builders not under the most comfortable circumstances. Getting work done on her grandmother’s house she has been left is not as easy as she had thought it would be with finances strained the way they are and an ex-husband wanting more than his share.
Will Bea get the break she needs to just enjoy life without its stresses and strains, and could a new romance possibly be brewing?
A breathtakingly delightful summer romance you won’t easily forget.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
I love returning to Jersey with Georgina Troy. Her writing brings the island to life beautifully. Bea is a strong main character who has been through many ups and downs in her life - more recently more downs and it was great to see her pick herself up and make a go of it in the beautiful house left to her by her beloved aunt. The chemistry between Bea and Luke was apparent from the very start and I enjoyed the build up of their relationship as Bea came to terms with the unwanted ‘ baggage ‘ in her life. Warm and entertaining, this is a fabulous hug in a book.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I enjoyed reading this book.
Bea is living in the house that she has inherited which was her aunts. But, she is going through a divorce and her husband informs her that he is entitled to half the value of it.
Luke has been given the job of carrying out the important works on the house, and they both feel some attraction. There is something Bea is aware of about Luke that stops her from acting on her feelings.
There’s a wedding and a few other things that happen to make matters worse.
I loved the setting and look forward to reading more about the characters.
I recommend this book.
A lovely, sweet story which I devoured quickly. I loved the characters and grew to love them as I read the book. Looking forward to reading more by this author. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I don’t really like to give negative reviews but I do want to explain why I am giving it such a low rating.
First point is that the entire book feels very hypocritical. The story is based around Bea, whose husband cheated on her and got some other woman pregnant which is awful. But then it goes on that her best friend is doing the exact same thing suddenly it’s an okay and acceptable thing to do? & then not to mention that for most of the story, as far as Bea knows, Luke is not only a taken man but at some point engaged, but that doesn’t stop her. Yes, there isn’t anything further than kissing within that but that is still cheating and she doesn’t seem that torn up about it. The second reason this book is rated so low is the speed of the storyline, everything feels extremely rushed. The first kiss between Bea & Luke feels so rushed and out of the blue you could genuinely miss it. Then there’s the speed that the plot is written, with a whole year passing in pretty much a couple of chapters. Now the big one (and this is a spoiler) is not only Luke telling her he loves her (again quite out of the blue saying they don’t know each other that well), but also the proposal?? Where did that come from? Again, it’s worth mentioning that they are basically strangers still with only about 2 dates the whole book. I will say that I enjoyed the plot twist about who is actually involved in the money laundering but other than that I did not enjoy the book.
Bea is trying to keep her aunt's house that she inherited, unfortunately her soon to be ex-husband is demanding half of the value of the house. Meanwhile she has employed Luke to carry out some necessary work on the house, there is some mutual attraction but there are, of course, issues preventing them from taking these any further. Add in some intrigue, a wedding and some other surprises to complicate matters, all set in Jersey.
I felt sorry for Bea and all her problems, she loved her aunt's house where she had spent most of her childhood following the death of her mother. Losing this to a greedy ex would break her heart, despite the amount of work needed on it. She is supported by her friends, which does help, but she struggles with her other relationships. Jersey does sound like a place that I'd like to visit and is a lovely setting for the book. This is a slower paced book, although this is not a criticism, but one that I did enjoy as I have with other books by this author.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
I found this book quite difficult to get into to start with but once I was about 5 chapters in I started to enjoy it a bit more.
It’s all about Bea and whether she can keep her Aunts house and make a new start without her awful ex Simon.
I loved the beautiful setting of the book and some of the characters were great. Overall a nice easy romantic read
Thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Georgina Troy for an advanced copy in exchange for an unbiased and honest review
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book to review!
Unfortunately, this book just wasn't it for me. I very rarely, if ever, stop reading a book before finishing, but I just couldn't keep going. I made it to 31%
The book is written in 3rd person - and honestly that doesn't normally bother me. I just found it didn't really work with this story.
The main reason I couldn't keep going was that I was constantly confused. Confused by the plot, the characters, and the character's actions. Everything they did or say seemed to come out of nowhere. The first kiss of the two main characters was so random I almost didn't realise it happened.
Because of this, I just wasn't invested in the story enough to continue. I don't feel any pull towards picking up this book again.
Bea has lived in Jersey all her life in the house left to her by her godmother. Her soon to be ex husband is trying to make her sell it or give her half the value. Its very run down and she employs Luke to do the work she can afford.
Lovely descriptions of Jersey
Bea Porter's impending divorce (and money hungry soon-to-be-ex Simon) following the death of her beloved godmother have left Bea in a financial and emotional fix. Will she lose her beloved childhood home in the divorce settlement? Will she be able to keep and update her aging home? Will she ever fall in love again? Talk has it that it's hard to not fall in love living on the island Jersey, but Bea has serious doubts about it happening to her. In spite of that, she and her college boyfriend Tom have recently reconnected, and her new handyman/contractor Luke is wildly attractive! What's a girl to do? New beginnings are in Bea's future in this adorably fun love story. With each twist and turn throughout the book, it's easy to get so pulled into that you won't want to put it down.
Disclosure: I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Overall an ok read. I enjoyed parts, but the relationship with Luke and Bea came off like the communication of teenagers which I found irritating for grown adults. And the end is sort of a super fast close.
I love Georgina Troy books. A lovely story set in Jersey. You had cheating husbands, babies, love, a scheming men, a beautiful old house and garden. A interesting step sister. It was a great read with a lovely neat ending . Read it.
