A great read - Dylan or lady justice as she is known makes it her mission to right wrongs - supported by Daniel - she is approached to destroy Brett the multi millionaire CEO of a pharmaceutical company … Dylan knew Brett from many years ago when he destroyed her sisters life … retribution doesn’t get much better . In the ‘me too’ vain this is a good book with an unconventional love story thrown in
A twisty turning thriller with a strong sense of mystery, this was an extremely enjoyable read from start to finish.
Revenge can be cathartic.
It's one of the reasons why Look What You Made Me Do caught my eye. The story follows Dylan Truman, who takes revenge on the scum of society on the request of wronged clients. When a client comes to her with her a name - her sister's attacker, it becomes personal.
Firstly, I would categorise this book as a thriller with a romantic subplot, although NetGallery didn't make it very clear. Just clarifying - it also has spice!
And onto the plot and characters! I actually enjoyed this novel a lot. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I adored how Dylan would disguise herself for her Lady Justice alter ego. . I love morally grey women, and Dylan's actions are definitely within that area. She was also kind of witty; I liked that. Some of the twists were a bit predictable but it didn't deter my reading enjoyment. I'm looking forward to more books from this author!
Thank you to EmblaBooks, Katherine A. Olson and NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange of my honest review.
I loved the premise and I so enjoy a feminist revenge thriller and was hoping Dylan and her alter ego was going to be a perfect match for me.
I found this very hard to connect to unfortunately and I really didn’t think steamy writing really fit in this book. It ruined the point for me.
Love this concept. Our main character Dylan operates as a justice operative, helping people who have filed complaints for previous wrongs against them. This was largely fueled by feeling unable to help her sister who went through an attack. So when a client turns up, looking for retribution for their sister, who is Dylan to say no!
I loved Dylan. She's strong, confident, badass, and makes smart decisions. She really trusts her instincts and it made it believable. It was also refreshing to read an unapologetic main character. She was who she was and I loved that. More female MCs need this kind of kickass confidence!
I loved the romance subplot woven throughout as well. And as always with romance books, the side characters almost steal the show! Love daniel from It so much! All in all. Sharp. Witty. Fast paced. And well worth a read
Katherine A. Olson delivers a wickedly entertaining and darkly humorous tale of revenge in "Look What You Made Me Do." The story revolves around Dylan Truman, who transforms from the girl next door to the formidable Lady Justice, a vigilante with a penchant for delivering poetic retribution to those who have wronged others. Olson's narrative is a rollercoaster of twists, laughs, and unexpected turns that will keep readers eagerly flipping the pages.
The protagonist, Dylan, is a complex character whose evolution into Lady Justice is both intriguing and captivating. The backstory of the incident that altered her fate adds depth to her character, making readers empathize with her quest for vengeance. Olson's writing skilfully captures the fine line between darkness and humour, infusing the narrative with a unique blend of wit and suspense.
The plot takes an exciting turn as Lady Justice sets her sights on her next target, Brent Wilder, a CEO billionaire and national hero with a hidden dark side. The tension escalates as the reader is drawn into a game of cat and mouse, wondering how Lady Justice will exact her revenge on this seemingly untouchable figure. The author successfully builds anticipation, keeping the audience guessing about the twists and turns that lie ahead.
One of the strengths of the novel is its exploration of the theme of family loyalty. Dylan's commitment to avenging the wrongs done to her sister adds an emotional layer to the narrative, making Lady Justice's mission more than just a quest for personal satisfaction. The moral ambiguity of the characters and their actions adds complexity to the story, prompting readers to question the boundaries between right and wrong.
Olson's writing style is sharp, and her ability to infuse dark humour into a revenge thriller is commendable. The dialogue is snappy, and the pacing is well-executed, ensuring that the story maintains its momentum from start to finish. The incorporation of revenge as a central theme is balanced with moments of levity, creating a narrative that is both gripping and amusing.
While the novel thrives on its dark humour and unexpected twists, some readers may find certain plot points slightly predictable. However, Olson compensates for this with her sharp wit and the charismatic nature of Lady Justice, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.
In "Look What You Made Me Do," Katherine A. Olson delivers a delectable blend of revenge, humour, and suspense. With a charismatic protagonist and a plot that keeps you guessing, this book is a satisfying read for those who appreciate a darkly witty take on the classic revenge thriller. Olson's ability to balance humour and suspense makes this novel a standout in its genre.
This book felt a bit flat for me. I was expecting it to be ever so slightly more gripping and dramatic, but I really struggled to get through it. It won't put me off exploring more of the authors work in the future though.
I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end. I so wish there was a part 2. Dylan and Daniel are my favourite characters in the world. The tension between them was absolutely palpable and I was cheering and crying and cheering again throughout their story. The idea of Dylan’s job as Lady Justice was great and would be an awesome job, especially in this day and age. Brent got all that was coming for him and that was all we could ask. An absolutely perfect ending, only I want more!
Action and humour, a gripping and well plotted story that kept me reading and have fun
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A big thank you to NetGalley and Embla Books for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was very different. I truly loved Dylan!! Strong female who is also known as "Lady Justice". Truly enjoyable read. 4 stars
This was a good thrilling plot, a good character but a bit obvious and not surprising. I mean, it still was good, funny and with a little bit of swifties references I think but it was not a surprising as I thought it will be.
Still a good read!
A fun and entertaining revenge tale. Will go over well with fans of The Best Way to Bury Your Husband and How to Kill Men and Get Away With It
Fun and enaging! Look what you made me do is a very good read for those blustery autumn days! I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fun and good story
Look What You Made Me Do by Katherine A. Olson was such a fun read, I loved it from beginning to end.
This book had everything in it.. thriller, mystery, revenge, action. The characters as well as the plot was written so well that it intrigues you and makes you carry on reading. There is also some fun twists and turns in the book that make you say what!!
Dylan was such a nice change to read from a character, she was hellbent on getting revenge for her sister, a brave woman who has dark humour and also very intelligent for what she does which is how she has managed to carry her business for so long.
Overall this book was such a fun read, everything had me hooked and I would recommend to fellow book readers who enjoy a good revenge mystery read.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and EmblaBooks for the copy of this ARC in exchange of my honest review.
5*
Once again, Olson brings the humor and the action. This is fast-paced and a character driven story. I loved seeing how Dylan changed and grew over the course of the book. I was completely satisfied with the ending and would love to see more Dylan.
Dylan is an avenging angel. She doles out consequences to those in this world (usually men) who don't have to face any. And next on her list is a man from her past, who destroyed her family and walked away free.
This is a fast thriller and a great concept, but to be honest the execution felt a bit flat. I didn't really understand what Dylan's plan was and it felt like a lot of it was totally unnecessary. The ending was tense and gripping though!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Not sure what this was? I just could not get into it and as much as i don't like leaving negative reviews this was not my thing. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
DNF. Within a couple of pages, I knew this was something I wasn't going to get on with. Not to mention there was a pretty significant trigger for me in the first couple of lines (entirely a me thing, not an author thing). But also - what was the point of rebranding an already published book with a different title and an illustrated cover that looks half of the others on the market? Especially when the reviews for that first one are pretty good??
Dylan has named herself Lady Justice, who dispenses vigilangte justice on men who abuse women. She meets the boy who abused her sister in college, and though he is now a successful though corrupt businessman, she is determined to see him suffer for his past and present actions.
I found it interesting that Dylan is at first a hardened and determined vigilante, but later on softens as she becomes romantically involved with a best friend. The ways in which she achieves her goal, however, and metes justice to Brent is interesting and somewhat satisfying.
A predictable plot and story, a light read.
Tits up. Knives Out. A sound motto for life if I've ever heard one! I loved the premise of this story! Dylan is a force of nature and doesn't back down from a challenge. She seems to have no fear, except for being happy, which concerned me that her final target hit too close to home and being so personal she would make mistakes but, I should have never doubted this strong fierce woman. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
