When a woman's marriage ends, much to her surprise, she has to start over in every way. This sweet book had many elements that I enjoy - a strong woman who has courage and stands up for herself, supportive friends, and of course a nice romance. There were a couple of things the heroine did that made me a little frustrated, but she snapped out of it.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I loved this. This is messed up true life in a book. I couldn't get enough of it. I thought that this was a great book. I absolutely had a great time reading this book.
I just reviewed The Impossible Search for the Perfect Man by Debbie Howells. #TheImpossibleSearchforthePerfectMan #NetGalley

You become quite involved in Louisa’s life during this heartwarming story as you follow her journey from shattered marriage, onwards. There is a degree of wry humour to be found in the characters who all have their own quirks and personalities and the animals are equally as endearing. The vets practice where she works offers lots of potential in the story to introduce new characters and by the end, you feel you know them so well.
Louisa’s family seem rather cold at first but you see how circumstances change and Louisa begins to see things differently. As per the title, there are plenty of pairings for you to compare as each of Louisa’s friends search for their special person. Marriages are also under the microscope, some more successful than others and a fair few engagements. Most of all, in the story, I appreciated Louisa with her self deprecating manner and ability to see the humour behind events. There is plenty of kindness to offset certain selfish behaviour which leaves you with a feeling of goodwill and the thought that there seems to be the right person for everyone. You might have to kiss a few toads on the way!
In short: warm witty writing
Louisa is dealing with the fallout of her husband leaving her for another woman who is now pregnant. She is also navigating her friendships, one of which involves a friend with a unique horoscope habit and another with a troubled marriage. Louisa resolves to focus on helping others find their happy-ever-afters instead of seeking her own. However, when she meets handsome vet Marcus, everything changes. Set in the Hampshire countryside, this is a heartwarming tale of friendship, love, and the unexpected twists life can take.
Louisa's life is turned upside down by an unexpected divorce, which becomes even more complicated when her ex-husband's pregnant girlfriend joins her at the veterinary clinic where she works. The emotionally charged predicament sets the stage for a gripping narrative that delves into themes of love, redemption, and forgiveness. Louisa's unwavering determination and the authenticity of her friendships add depth to the story, showcasing the transformative power of human connections. As the plot unfolds, readers are drawn into the characters' fates, culminating in a suspenseful climax that leaves a lasting impact. This remarkable novel explores the complexities of relationships and resilience of the human spirit, making it essential reading for anyone seeking a compelling and emotionally resonant tale.
As an auto buy author, I knew that I would love this book. The author has such a warm and uplifting writing style (unless it’s a thriller, then she be dark!).
Louisa is the perfect protagonist.. strong, sassy, vulnerable but also knows her worth, this is such an endearing place of work, the way they all pull together to help each other and the community. Well apart from Arian of course!
Louisa’ and Agnes’ friendship made the book for me 😍, like most I love a good romance, but proper female friendships always pulls on my heartstrings.
This is a must read, add it to your TBR
This book put me right in the middle of the story! I loved the details and the way Howells makes you feel like you are the one looking!! It was fun and upbeat and I am adding 5stars!
I really enjoy Debbie Howells' writing and this novel did not disappoint. In my opinion, its not her best but still a good story that will keep the readers' attention.
We meet Louisa who is married and he leaves her for another woman and obviously Louisa is gutted. Then the "other woman" starts working at the vets where Louisa works, she thinks her life could not get any worse - that is until she finds out she is expecting with her ex husband.
A new vet starts at the surgery and Louisa is thrust into more emotional rollercoaster.
Louisa is the epitome of a strong woman who has to take things at face value and carry on regardless, she is a power house and I loved reading about her. There is so much emotion in this novel, sadness, heart wrenching, happy and it makes for a good overall mix in a novel.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for allowing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you for granting me the request to read this book :) This is a light read and is such a fun fun fun story and one that's extraordinary. Being friends with your ex-husband's ex is quite rare these days but Louisa here is such a great sport and has managed to be around the ex's *pregnant* girlfriend.. Beautiful story of friendship, love, forgiveness and acceptance.
Sadly, the title has absolutely no bearing on the actual tale in these pages. Found the story slow, pedantic, and while it may be a lot of readers' cup of tea to have this kind of every-day-life-of-everyone story unfolding quietly in between the pages, this isn't what I was looking for, so I didn't really dig this one as much I thought I would based on the cover, title, and blurb. Also found the main protagonist a little judgy which kinda killed my sympathy for her along the way
I have read every Debbie Howells and this was another triumph, I just love her writing style and how relatable the characters are. I loved the fact that Louisa seemed so natural and easy to empathise with I really wanted her to get her genuine happy ever after. I found this such an easy, cosy read I flew through and was sad when it ended I really hope we get a sequel.
Louisa is devastated when her husbands leaves her for another woman. To top it, she is pregnant!
After reading the title, I was hoping the book would have taken the direction of Louisa on her journey to find the perfect mate. Unfortunately, that is not were the author went. Louisa just puts all her energy into her job. For me, the content did not really hold my interest. I was given an ARC copy for my honest review.
There were parts of the book that I adored and other parts I could have skipped. The parts I could have skipped made the book drag a little. Story was a mostly light with fun characters. Just had slow parts.
For me this was an average read. It was quite a slow read in my opinion but it also felt like a lot happened. If I’m completely honest it felt a bit scattered and there was just too much going on that didn’t really feel fully invested in. I didn’t massively buy the chemistry between the love interests either with didn’t help with me feeling invested.
I’d give this 2.75 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

This novel consists of 52 chapters and a P.S (LOVE!) The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This is the second book I have read by this author. I have also read 'It All Started With You ' which I would also highly recommend.
What an absolutely heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!

It is filled with friendship, family, animals, love, loneliness, trying new things and so much more!! I adored the fact that it is set in a veterinary practice!! I am a HUGE animal lover and it is always a HUGE bonus to have animals in books and there were several in this book to fall in love with!!

I was absolutely absorbed in this book and just could not put it down!!! There was no chance of just one more chapter and I ended up devouring it in a day!!! The setting and atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous and I loved watching the characters relationships change throughout. It really is one of those feel good books that is perfect to read curled up in front of a fire or lying on the beach. There was a perfect mix of tragedy, heartbreak, Romance, laughter that it definitely the go to book if you want a pick me up!!! It is so much more than your everyday romance with the intriguing and multi layered storylines as there is more than just the one. I could go on and on but seriously just get your copy and get sucked in. You really won't regret it!! The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. Thank you, Rachels Random Resources and Boldwood Books, for a place on the recent book tour.
After finishing the book, I felt it was an average read, not quite meeting my preferences. It's a slow-burn romantic comedy with plot twists that revolve around complex relationships, friendships, and second chances. However, I struggled to connect with the protagonist as I found her to be quite unrealistic, although I appreciated the author's attempt to create a unique character. The conclusion of the book was not as satisfying as I had hoped and left me feeling underwhelmed.
Overall, the book wasn't terrible, but it's not the author's best work; however, I can see how it would appeal to some readers who enjoy this genre.
An equine vets is around which most of this is set
Who knew there could be so many shenanigans with a vet?
Louisa works in the office there and is the female lead
She seems to be the one they turn to in time of need.
With an adulterous husband who has left her now
She's still the one to depend on, most of the time, anyhow.
She's not looking for any romance now, that's for sure,
Him getting someone else pregnant was a dreadful cure!
Each vet has their own foibles and dramatic events, too,
With Louisa often being the one to see them through.
She's great at helping others find their own romance
But is wary of even giving herself even a chance.
Get ready for horses, their owners and mischief
And friends in bother, seeking some relief.
There are also romances a plenty to uncover as you read
And Louisa's ex-husband keeps turning up in need!
A fun story with friendship, love and surprises
Along with several romances, some only slowly realises.
There's potential tragedies, wake up calls for all,
Life isn't straight forward, throwing many a curve ball!
Another lovely read, with plenty of problems, too,
As readers are shown what Louisa and the crew are going through.
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you -
As I share with you my honest review.
Such a sweet read! I loved it. The Impossible Search for the Perfect Man is such a nice story and gave me all the feels. The main character, Louisa, brings you through her life, the ups and downs, but you also get to see what a caring person she is. I found myself rooting for her and hoped she would finally find love. There were times of sadness, laughter and yes, love. I highly recommend this book, especially if you’re looking for your next romcom.

Debbie Johnson - The Impossible Search For The Perfect Man.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Poor Louisa. I did feel for her as she was completely blindsided by the end of her marriage.
I loved how she picked herself back up though and was able to help other people. Even people who didn’t really deserve it.
Then along comes dreamy vet Marcus…. Is he the one? Or does Louisa’s heart truly lie elsewhere?
I especially enjoyed the friendships that Louisa has. They are quirky but reliable and totally have Louisa’s back.
With the backdrop of a quaint English village, this book trots along at a good pace and is utterly charming.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources, Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a digital arc of this title.
