Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.

The story feels a little juvenile for what I like to read and does not seem all that interesting. I tried to read this on Kindle Unlimited and couldn't get myself to read this.

My biggest complaint with this book is multiple POVs. Not that that is necessarily bad, but it just isn't my cup of tea. To me, personally, it makes the book confusing at times and harder to follow. Still, the story itself did peek my interest and didn't have any trouble finishing it. And I would continue with the series, because I found myself invested in the story and eager to know what will happen next.

Thank you to netgallery and the publisher for the copy of this book. This is book one of the Withered Crown Chronicles. This book follows Idalia and Rainer's stories both currently going down different paths. This story has betrayal, secrets and unexpected twists. This book grabs your attention from the very first chapter, about midway it started to lose me but then the author brought me right back in. I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.

Idalia, betrayed and on the run, wishes to take her kingdom back. She struggles to find out the truth beyond the lies of her family.

Rainer, the king’s bastard son, fights to secure his place as heir. Wishing to win the king’s respect and attention he so desperately craved his whole life.

The kingdom is on shaky ground and collapse at any time.

“Three Betrayals” by Peyton Cavallo was a bit too much for me. I felt that there were too many POV’s, and it wasn’t super clear on whose POV I was reading right away. I also didn’t really like any of the characters and didn’t much care if they got what they wanted. The characters also didn’t really develop throughout the book. It’s a 2 out of 5 stars, good if you’re looking for a short epic type of feel book.

I really enjoyed the story Cavallo brought us with the book Three Betrayals. I was quite invested in the story of Idalia as she forged a new life after her kingdom had been betrayed and she had to flee to save her life. It was a riveting story of love and betrayal and learning how to forge relationships when you feel like you can trust no one.

This story would have been a 4 star read if the author had provided POV headings or place headings at the beginning of new chapters. It was sometimes hard to follow along and took some time to adjust to the new setting of each chapter.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)

This one just didn't hit for me. World building was okay but there wasn't a lot of character development. It also didn't feel like a whole lot happened in the first two thirds of the story. I also expected the two main characters stories to weave together more.

A gripping tale of royalty, betrayal, and resilience. The story follows Idalia Averill, a princess who finds herself on the run after her kingdom is betrayed. As she navigates treacherous waters, the book delves into themes of trust and survival, making for a thrilling and emotionally charged read.

Idalia's journey to discern friend from foe is both relatable and heart-wrenching, and Rainer Gold's struggle for recognition adds depth to the narrative. Cavallo's storytelling keeps you engaged from beginning to end, and the book's themes of family, identity, and betrayal resonate long after the final page.

A rollercoaster ride through a kingdom filled with secrets, betrayal, and unexpected heroes. From the very start, I was hooked! You've got Idalia, a princess turned prey, and Rainer, the so-called 'inadequate' lovechild, both facing challenges that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

What I loved most about this book is how it keeps you guessing. You never really know who to trust, and that's what makes it so exciting. And the characters? They feel so real, like friends you're rooting for. The story is intense, but it's also about family and the fight for recognition. I couldn't put it down! So, if you want a book that's a mix of suspense, adventure, and a dash of unexpected heroism, Three Betrayals is the one to read.

DNF. just wasn't for me. A little darker than I anticipated. Give it a try if it interests you though.
