An easy read contemporary romance in the less common setting of South Africa. The FMC returns to her home country to find a rival to what she thought was her sole claim to her Uncles mansion. Throw in mystery and danger in regards to the towns people and poaching and you get an interesting take on a romance novel.

Clash of Wills is a cute Netflix movie that sprung to the pages of this adorable novel. Telling the tale of Ruby and her adventures in moving to South Africa to renovate the mansion that was given to her by her late uncle, we get a fun story about love, loss, and rebuilding.

This book had a really good premise. It dealt with many traumas and struggles that I may not relate but do empathise. I did end up reading thia during a really bad reading slump. I'll definitely read it again in the future to enjoy it better.

This was a first time read for me by this author and I enjoyed it very much. Ruby is a big time chef in Cleveland. When her bistro burns down, she decides to head to South Africa for a fresh start. She has inherited a mansion from her uncle and she decides to give that her full attention and restore it to its former glory. But, she is not the only one who has any say in what happens to the mansion. Local builder, Sam, also apparently has a legal claim on the mansion and he is not happy about Ruby coming to town. There is also the threat of a poaching syndicate getting their hands on the mansion. Sam and Ruby will need to put their differences aside and work together in order to thwart the danger that Is lurking. Once they stop fighting and start working together, things between them become so much sweeter, and there's no denying the attraction they feel for each other.
A delightful story with charming and likable characters! I had a lovely time reading this story and hope to find more by this author to read.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Clash of Wills is a fun romance set in South Africa. The characters and setting are described so well, you can envision it all while you read.

There's something really basic in the writing style of this story. You're not going to get a lot of deep psychological insight, tortured souls, etc... and I didn't mind it. A simple and entertaining enough read. 3.5 / 5 stars

After Ruby Silver's restaurant in Cleveland burns down she's lost everything, until her uncle dies and leaves his mansion in South Africa to her and her siblings. Since both her siblings are already wealthy they agree to let Ruby go out and try to restore Jacaranda Mansion to make it into a restaurant. Unfortunately, when Ruby gets to the small town of Marulaspruit, on the edge of the Kruger Game Reserve, it appears that her eccentric uncle left more than one will, and local builder Sam Duvenage, who was raised by Ruby's uncle after his own father left, also claims a legal right to the mansion.

But while Sam and Ruby are bickering over whose will takes precedence and who should therefore be the owner, other forces are circling, determined to buy the mansion for their own nefarious purposes.

This book felt like it suffered from not really knowing what it wanted to be, not really a forced-proximity romance, not really a suspense romance, just kind of somewhere in between. And there was a lot of not sharing pertinent information then running straight into danger on both sides.

Overall, it was pleasant enough.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.

I adore it when a rom-con has such a strong solid storyline that the romantic aspect seems like a bonus story. I spent more of the book just cheering Ruby on, wanting her to succeed and show her family her strength.

A cute romance, with a girl going back to a childhood home to start over again, and some local intrigue to add some twists along the way.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was an interesting read. First the location is unusal and very fun to learn about. Then their was this gorgeous run down house that more than one person wants. Ruby is a chef who's restaurant burnt down-she seems to take short cuts to save money and is picked on by her family for her choice of career. Enter South Africa and Sam-his guardian was Ruby's uncle. Why did the family not know about Sam? The house will be alot of work. Add pouchers and you now have suspense. I loved the setting, but the rest sort of felt contrived. I am sure that many will love. For me 3 stars

I would like to thank NetGalley, Audrey Flynn and BooksGoSocial for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

4⭐ - after Ruby's Cleveland restaurant burns down, she returns to South Africa for a fresh start. She inherits a mansion from her uncle, located on the edge of Kruger's Game Reserve. While Ruby wants to restore the mansion to its former glory.

She meets Sam, a local builder/former bad boy who claims the rights of the same mansion and he's not about to give up.

This could easily be a Hallmark film set in South Africa. The story was easy to follow, the characters were likeable and it's the perfect enemies to lovers story. Audrey Flynn, you have a new fan!

The setting of this story is absolutely glorious. Definitely unique, compared to many of the romcoms I'm used to reading.

Ruby represents my favorite kind of main character - headstrong and determined, with heart and soul put into everything she loves, even if she isn't always successful the first (or second) time around.

Sam is, let's admit, a bit cliché. Cinnamon roll, just the right kind for an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story.

Overall, this is a good read. Refreshing setting, great main character, nicely crafted love story, and well-deserved ending.

"Don't worry. This old place was built to last. We'll fix it."

Audrey Flynn's "Clash of Wills: A Showdown in Lion Country" is a riveting journey that combines elements of romance, suspense, and environmental intrigue. This novel is a tale of a clash of wills -- love, danger, and passion intersect in the most unexpected ways.

Ruby Slater, a big city chef and the heir to the magnificent Jacaranda Mansion located on the edge of South Africa's vast Kruger Game Reserve. She is a determined and passionate character whose life takes an unexpected turn when her bistro in Cleveland is destroyed to ashes by a devastating fire. With courage in her heart and a desire to restore her late uncle's mansion to its former glory, Ruby embarks on a journey to Marulaspruit, where she hopes to start over.

Ruby's life intertwines with local builder Sam Duvenage in Marulsapruit. Sam, a former bad boy with a claim to the Jacaranda Mansion, refuses to relinquish his legal right to the property. A captivating clash of wills between these two strong characters begins. Each has their own vision for the mansion's future.

Flynn brings the lush South African landscape to life. The Lion Country, with its breathtaking landscapes and awe-inspiring wildlife, becomes a character in the story. As I read this book, I felt as though I was right there in the heart of South Africa.

Beyond the clash of wills and the battle for the mansion, a lurking danger adds an element of suspense to the story. A dangerous poaching syndicate is determined to seize control of the Jacaranda Mansion for their nefarious purposes. As the danger closes in and the stakes become higher, Ruby and Sam must set aside their differences and work together to protect the mansion and its secrets.

The romantic tension between Ruby and Sam is heartfelt. "Clash of Wills: A Showdown in Lion Country" is spellbinding. It blends romance, suspense, and environmental awareness. The clash of wills between Ruby and Sam takes center stage, molding a passionate love story. Against the setting of South Africa's enchanting Lion Country, Flynn produced a tale that stirred my heart and intellect.
