Eden plays understudy as Lizzie Bennett then along comes Bennon Thorne who takes an instant dislike to her as he doesn't believe she can act
This novel was excellent up until the very end. I absolutely adored the tension between Brennoneden over the first half of the novel. I enjoyed the gradual build-up, even if it sounded a lot like pride and prejudice. but regrettably, that is only the tip of the iceberg. The charcater switch of Eden after??? i was dissapointed as it started off so well.
This was a really enjoyable read that had so many of my own likes within. I loved the characters and the plot so much so I found myself whizzing through the pages.
Eden Blake is an understudy in a musical adaptation of Pride and Prejudice called Liz and Darcy. When the actress playing Elizabeth drops out at the last minute Eden must take the spotlight. Brennon Thorne who is playing Darcy cannot hide his dissatisfaction of Eden playing Liz as she is not a classically trained actress and he lets everyone know his feels. The play ends every night with a kiss and when this leads to another Eden can’t help but feel that this will lead to something else.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that you will go from enemies to lovers...
Meet Elizabeth Bennett. Otherwise known as Eden Blake the understudy in Liz and Darcy, the musical adaptation of Pride and Prejudice . Eden has toiled away for years as a working actress in terrible commercials. While she's not guaranteed a spot on stage, this production is one step on the road to her dreams.
Until Brennon Thorne , their new Mr Darcy, and all-round theatre god joins the next leg of their tour. Brennon can't hide his contempt for Eden and anyone who isn't a classically trained actor. And he doesn't care who knows it.
But at least they don't need to spend that much time together.
Until the actress playing Elizabeth drops out last minute and suddenly the spotlight is on Eden. Opposite Brennon. On stage. Every night. Which always ends with a kiss.
Brennon's arrogance and disdain is almost unbearable. But as one on-stage kiss leads to another, Eden can't help feeling something else...
Could her pretend Mr Darcy actually be one in real life? Or does that only happen in a Jane Austen novel?
My Opinion
This was a sweet tale with such a slow burn romance. I haven't read Pride and Prejudice so I wasn't able to compare the two but for me this was an enjoyable read that I picked up at every available opportunity. With the characters of this being Broadway stars you can already guess that there is a lot of drama.
Rating 4/5
If you want a Pride and Prejudice retelling based within a theatre setting then this is the book for you.
I really enjoyed reading this as it was light and fun with a slow burn romance that was pulled off superbly. I had finished it within a few hours as I couldn't put it down! As someone who is a fan of musical theatre it was refreshing to have a new take on a romance novel and I have decided that I need to find more of these in my life.

I'm an actor, so of course, I adored this romantic book about falling in love on tour. Brennon and Eden are a lovely Elizabeth and Darcy mash up, and I enjoyed their ride.
My only gripes are bits about the industry and the always unnecessary third act break-up but that's just romance novels!
If you love theatre and you love love, this is such a fab read.
Four stars!
This was such a wonderful and enjoyable read!!!! I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre. Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The road to love definitely doesn't run smoothly for Eden and Brennan. Playing the roles of Elizabeth and Darcy in a travelling musical, their first meeting is fraught with tension. When the leading lady falls ill, Eden is forced to step in as the understudy and has to kiss her nemesis at the end of every show. The chore soon becomes a lot hotter as feelings change, but even then, crossed wires lead to lots of friction and arguments. The chemistry is palpable . #enemiestolovers #ameliajones #embla #netgalley
Loved this book by Amelia mainly because it was about something completely different to many books on the market these days.
I would like to thank netgalley and Alcove Press for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was enjoyable, but it being published under two names is confusing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of ‘Enemies to Lovers’.
As someone who loved Pride and Prejudice, who has read it many times, as well as musical theatre, this sounded like the perfect book for me. Although I did end up enjoying the book it did take me a while to get into the story. Once I did it was vey easy to see the parallels between the two stories. Despite obviously knowing where the story was going, I still enjoyed the main couple finally recognising their true feelings.
Book Review 📚
Enemies to Lovers by Amelia Jones - 4/5 ⭐
Another book I've chosen to read based off the cover! This is a massive flaw of mine, but more often then not, it pays off. Just like it did with Enemies to Lovers. The book itself gives off Pride and Prejudice vibes - a book I can say I really didn't enjoy. But Jones took a different take.
Although there are some similarities, it's not hugely identical to P&P at all. I love the modern take on it for one, that really helps make a story enjoyable for me. And a slow burn romance?! Sold. It's my kind of book, instantly. I love how Jones added the P&P element to the story, by having the characters indulge in musical based off the original story, that was genius!
Speaking of characters. Eden - LOVED - and Brennan are the perfect "on screen" couple. The slow burn just adds to the underlying connection and they both crave each other in such obvious ways. They had great development throughout the story and we're the perfect characters to read about.
Thank you to NetGalley and Embla Books for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.
A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice? Sign me up!
This book had all of the essential elements that make a great romance novel. I mean, who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers storyline with a slow burn romance? I loved the chemistry between Eden and Brennon, two talented broadway actors, playing Elizabeth Bennett and Darcy in a musical adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters, which I felt stayed so true to Austen’s.
This was a fun, lighthearted read but I couldn’t help but wish for more conversations and scenes between Eden and Brennon. It seemed as though their strong feelings for each other weren’t fully justified by the limited interactions they had.
Overall though, this was a delightful read and I would definitely recommend it!

It was such a fun read. I was invested in that story rom the very beginning. The storyline was great. It was a quick and lovely read. I loved witnessing the way the MCs, Eden and Brennon, were developing feelings for each other. Main characters were very interesting and I enjoyed a theatre setting and side characters too.
Sometimes I wanted to grab Eden and shout at her and talk some sense to her.
Overall, I recommend this story to everyone. I found myself unable to put this book down. This light story will keep you hooked throught the whole lenght.
